T55: Everybody Hates Brooklyn.
Just then, the sound of the door un-locking and opening was heard. "Hi, everyone, hi, Mom." Alice said angrily as she stormed into the living-room.
"Alice? Where have you been, i called you over an hour ago and asked you to meet me here." Lulu said.
"Sorry. I would've been here sooner, but i had to drive around town and drive off some steam." Alice said.
"Drive off some steam, why?" Laura asked.
The sound of the door closing was heard and Brooklyn rushed into the living-room, hear face tear-stained.
"I'm sure Brooklyn will be glad to tell you all aboit it." Alice said. "Go ahead, Brooklyn." She said as she turned to Brooklyn.
"Alice, please." Brooklyn begged cryingly.
"You owe this family an apology." Alice said.
"Please." Brooklyn pleaded.
"An apology? For what?" Ned asked.
"Go ahead, Brooklyn." Alice said.
"Um...when the sheriff came by yesterday and asked me if i knew where the boys were...i lied." Brooklyn said.
"What?!" Lulu, Olivia, Ned and Billed gasped.
"I'm sorry, everyone." Brooklyn said. "I mean...i got a text from Leo yesterday morning saying that he and the boys were heading for the Oberg mountains with a friend to help save a life and he told me not to tell anyone. So...i didn't wanna break my promise to Leo. And then the sheriff figured it out and...Look, all i know...is that three kids real close to me...that i love a whole lot...could be in danger right now. And it's all my fault. I'm sorry, everyone. I'm sorry. I'm sorry, everyone." She said as more and more tears ran down her face.
"You knew where the boys were this entire time?" Olivia asked.
"Yes." Brooklyn said, wiping the tears away from her face with both hands.
"Since the morning we found out that they were missing?" Ned asked.
"Yes." Brooklyn admitted.
"And you didn't say anything? You didn't tell the police...so they could find them? So they could bring them home where they belong?" Lulu asked.
"No." Brooklyn answered, shaking her head.
"Oh, Brooklyn. How could you do this thing? Your mother and i raised you to look out for your family and others. What did we always say about looking out for family?" Ned said.
"If i don't look out for my family and others...who will"?" Brooklyn said.
"Exactly! When you know that a child has run away from home and you know where they are, you tell the police! They could be in danger right now because of you! And you did nothing! You knew where they were and you did nothing! What kind of person are you?! What kind of daughter are you?! What kind of cousin are you?! What-what is wrong with you?!" Ned said.
"I thought about telling you." Brooklyn said.
"You thought about telling us. This is a police investigation, Brooklyn, you should've told the cops when they were here!" Alice said.
"I know. You know, well, you knew that before the sheriff found out. So why did he have to confront you about the truth for you to finally come clean?!" Alice said.
"Alice...everyone...i'm really-"
"What? You're sorry?" Alice asked, cutting Brooklyn off. "I already know the answer to this question, but i'm gonna ask it anyway. When you were up there in the boys' guest-room comforting me...you knew where they were then, didn't you?"
"...Yes." Brooklyn answered.
"Oh, my gosh. And you stood by and watched the family fall apart?!" Alice said.
"I wanted to say something." Brooklyn said.
"Well, why didn't you? Did someone sew your mouth shut? You had plenty of chances to tell us the truth." Alice asked.
"You sure-"
"You stay out of it!" Alice said, cutting Ned off as she turned to face him. "Like you always have! I've treated this girl like a daughter when your relationship with her was strained because of your divorce with her mother in 2012! So you stay out of it!" She said. "My son and nephew and your little brother are out there in the wilderness right now." Alice said, turning back to Brooklyn. "They may be in grave danger." Alice said. "For Pete sake-for Pete sake, Brooklyn, they loved you! They looked up to you, they admired you, they respected you! And what did you do? What did you do? You STUPID, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID GIRL!!!"
"That's enough, leave her alone! Leave my daughter alone!" Ned said, getting between Alice and Brooklyn. "That's enough, stop. She'll face all the consequinces that she has to."
"Yes! Yes, she will!" Alice said.
"That's enough, that's enough. You've been through so much and so have all the rest of us here. Let's just focus on finding the boys and getting them back home safe and sound." Ned said.
Brooklyn then ran out of the living-room and into the foyer, followed by the sound of the door opening and closing.
The doorbell than rang.
Monica walked up to the door and answered it, revealing a woman with brown hair and blue eyes and a muscular man with black hair, brown eyes and a black goatee. The woman's brown hair went past her shoulders while the back of it stopped at her upper-back.
"Oh, hi. May i help you?" Monica asked.
"I hope so. I'm Katie Scarsdale. Sheriff Scarsdale's wife? This is my ex-husband, Billton Manning. We're looking for our son, Will: May we come in?" Said the brown-haired woman known as Katie.
"Oh. Why, yes, of course." Monica said before standing aside. "Come on in."
Katie and Billton entered inside the house and Monica closed the door.
