AN: I couldn't get this out of my head after watching a tiktok lmao so I gave it a try even though I never write. And y'all know English is not my first language and this is unbeta'd, so be kind :')

Donna didn't mean to fall asleep. Just closing my eyes for a few minutes, she'd told herself after carefully placing Mia in the bassinet in their room. But a few minutes turned into a couple hours thanks to the exhaustion that's been wearing both her and Harvey out since their little girl came into this world about a month ago.

Harvey's low, muffled voice in the living room and the sound of tiny sneakers on hardwood floors, despite how careful they try to sound as they approach the master room, make Donna feel a warmth rising in her chest before she even opens her eyes. Her boys are home.

She blinks her eyes open slowly, meeting with the image of Liam proudly entering the room still in his baseball clothes, both hands clutching a bouquet of soft pink roses as he tiptoes in her direction, being mindful of not waking his little sister. She feels her heart swell with love.

Donna sits up and opens her arms to welcome him as the little boy comes closer and hands her the bouquet, "these are for you, mommy," he whispers.

"Oh, thank you, sweetheart. C'mere," she's smiling lovingly as she pulls her son onto her lap, taking him in her arms. Donna nuzzles his sandy hair before placing a few kisses on the top of his head and taking the roses in one hand. "I love them. They're very beautiful."

The flowers don't really catch Donna off guard anymore, since Harvey makes sure he and Liam always come back home with some for her every time they're out in a father-son moment, no matter how short that time may be. Though, it still makes her heart burst with love for both her Specter boys every time it happens nonetheless. When she thinks she can't possibly love them more, they keep proving her wrong – every day.

The first time it happened, Liam was only 18 months old and Harvey had to pick him up from daycare since Donna still needed to finish up some paperwork at the firm. She'd stayed with the promise she would definitely be home for dinner. As Harvey and the toddler walked back to the car, he spotted a flower cart and decided to buy Donna a small bouquet, like he usually does from time to time – no special occasion needed, no anniversaries… Simply because he wants to remind her how much she's loved.

After asking Liam what they should get for mommy and seeing his son just staring back at him completely clueless, in the end, Harvey had settled for a small bouquet of three hibiscus. Donna got home to her boys and a dinner ready to be served, but before she even made it past the threshold, her husband yelled from the living room that Liam had something for her.

"Does he, now?" Donna chuckled, already off her heels. She crouched down the moment she spotted the toddler running clumsily in her direction, basically waving the small bouquet in excitement, which she hadn't really noticed at first.

"Mommy! Supise!" Liam tripped over his own feet when he reached Donna and she caught him before he could fall. "Oh, hey, be careful, baby." She tickled him and his laughter filled the house. That's when she noticed what he was holding. "What's this, buddy?" the toddler just handed it to her.

"Supise!" Liam repeated, with the same enthusiasm.

Donna looked up from him to Harvey, who was watching the whole thing with that big ol' Cheshire cat grin on his face. He winked at his wife and she blinked back some tears that were threatening to fall before she turned her attention back to their son. Her eyes were glassy and she felt like her heart was about to explode.

"Wow! No way you got this for me?!" Donna took him in her arms and got up, peppering kisses all over his slightly chubby cheeks. "Thank you so much, mister!" She felt Harvey wrapping his arm around her, closing the gap between them with a soft kiss on her lips before planting one on her hair as well.

"Welcome home," he whispered in her ear, squeezing her waist while gently rubbing Liam's back with his other hand, the toddler still in her arms. He'd tucked his head on her shoulder.

"Thank you, honey. For everything," Donna turned to face her husband, slightly leaning on him, and she sighed. "Aren't you a prince among men?"

"Prince? He's the prince now. I'm more like a king."

Donna snorted and rolled her eyes. "You're an idiot."

"Yeah, yeah. Your idiot." He flashed her a smug smirk. "And you love me."

"That I do."

Now Donna is bringing the bouquet closer so she can smell the rose, but she frowns when she notices one single yellow tulip standing out. She picks it up as she turns her attention to Liam again. "What's this one doing here?"

"Oh, that's for Mia!" Liam announces softly. "Told daddy we had to give her one too, because she's my baby sister and I want her to know that I love her."

Okay, this caught her off guard. Donna glances up from Liam to Harvey — who's been watching the whole scene develop in front of him from the door frame with his wide signature smile plastered on his face — and his eyes mirror her own feelings for their little boy. Pride. Love. Unconditional love.

"That's so thoughtful of you, honey," Donna's voice is low, filled with emotion, and she holds him tighter. "You're the best big brother in the world and I know she loves you, too." She threads his hair with her fingers. "You know, Mia's very, very lucky to have you as a big brother."

"Can I give it to her?"

"Yeah," she's still smiling when she hands him the single tulip, "just be careful not to wake her up."

"Okay." Donna, then, ruffles his hair and the little boy laughs lightly as he slips down the bed and tiptoes towards the bassinet, flower in hand.

Harvey is already sitting next to her on the edge of their bed, and like magnets, she wastes no time resting her head on his chest and placing her left hand on his heart as he plants a kiss on her hair. Donna sighs contently and they both watch their firstborn getting on his toes in order to gently lay the tulip beside the newest addition to their family.

Liam whispers something to Mia that their parents can't hear, and they feel everything in them soften as they watch the beginning of a bond that they're sure will only grow stronger with time. Their oldest is already showing the kind of heart they've always hoped he would have, though nothing could've ever prepared them for the feeling of witnessing it — especially towards his newborn sister. Donna's vision blurs with tears, moved by the sweetness of the moment, when she looks up at Harvey, "you did good," she whispers and he smiles.

"It was his idea. Can't take credits here."

"I know. But he's taking after his dad," she plays with the button of his shirt, "growing up to be the perfect gentleman and all." Harvey chuckles. There's a beat, then he tightens the grip on her waist.

"We did good," he simply replies, and the way Harvey looks at her — like she is the one who made this life possible — says more than any words ever could. Nearly six years of marriage and two kids later, the overwhelming feeling that takes over them in moments like this has yet to fade. He leans for a lingering, tender kiss and Donna smiles into it before they part. "Is she any better?"

"She is. Her tummy cramps are still there, but lighter now, I guess. She wasn't fussing as much as last night. Sorry we missed practice. How was it?"

Before he can answer, Liam is walking back to them and Harvey helps him up on the bed, settling his mini-me on his lap. Donna snuggles so she can get even closer to her boys and moves her hand to caress her son's arm.

"Wanna tell mommy how great you were at practice today, bud?" Harvey asks and he nods.

"I missed some balls, but I hit way more this time than the last time!" He says proudly. "Daddy recorded it to show you."

"That's awesome, baby!" She whispers excitedly. "I can't wait to see it!"

Liam goes on and on about it. Donna makes sure she pays attention to every single word, but she can't help it when her mind drifts, just a little, so she can enjoy this little moment of blessing in her life.

Motherhood isn't perfect. It's messy, painful, loud and exhausting. But, right now, curled up in her husband's embrace while listening to their son going about his day and having their tiny bundle of joy sleeping soundly so close to them, she knows for sure this is where she was always supposed to be.
