Chapter 8 – The Solaris Protocol
The scanners glowed with golden pulses as Kekoa, Zaynah, and Kite stood ready. Their breathing slowed in sync with the countdown. Ubel had opted out of this run—still recovering from the Nullshade. Odd filled in his place, cracking his knuckles with his usual swagger.
"Sector locked: Solaris," Haseo called from the control panel. "Coordinates are rough, terrain's hot. Don't touch anything that glows unless it's supposed to."
"You always say that," Kite replied.
"And you always ignore it."
"Not true."
"Statistically… very true," Zaynah added.
Kekoa gave a relaxed shrug. "Let's go melt some data."
"Virtualization."
Lyoko: Solaris Sector
The instant their feet touched down; heat shimmered across their armor. This wasn't the Forest or Desert—it was radiant. Towering crystal trees refracted beams of light like digital prisms, creating dancing illusions along the glowing floor. Every movement was accompanied by a hum, as if the sector itself were alive with music.
Kite activated his visor, squinting against the shine. "So, this is what it looks like when a hard drive dreams."
Zaynah spun slowly, analyzing data as her visor flickered into scanning mode. "It's like a magnified pulse field. Light here isn't just visual—it's active."
A tremor passed beneath their feet.
From a fractured cluster of crystal columns emerged a sleek, birdlike shape. Its wings reflected golden rays as it hovered, motionless but humming like a turbine.
Kekoa stepped forward. "That's not a Replikant…"
Zaynah's visor pinged red. "Flaregeist. New monster. High energy displacement. Weak to shade."
Odd drew his bow-blades. "Good thing I brought my sunglasses."
The Flaregeist moved.
It launched a searing ray across the platform, barely missing Kite. The blast scorched a glowing path through the terrain.
"Spread!" Zaynah ordered, tossing a data fan toward a nearby prism to reflect the beam.
Kekoa used Ripple Step, bouncing forward and leaving a trail of shimmering clones in his wake.
Odd launched a scatter volley—each arrow refracted into three midair, but only one struck the Flaregeist's core.
It shrieked.
Kite fired a tether arrow, anchoring the creature briefly.
Kekoa charged.
The Mana Blades split light as he ran, his aura glowing blue in the golden environment. He dove, combined the blades mid-air into his Tide Staff, and drove it downward—summoning a geyser of aquamarine energy beneath the monster.
Tsunami Surge.
The water surged upward, striking the Flaregeist mid-dive.
Zaynah followed with Null Bloom—a burst of violet static that halted the monster's flight pattern.
Odd dashed in with his blades and struck its wings in a blur.
The Flaregeist shattered mid-air, bursting into light like a dying sun.
After the Battle
The team stood panting, the heat still rising around them.
Kekoa looked up at the crystal canopy, sweat dripping from his brow.
"That one… was personal."
"X.A.N.A.'s learning," Kite said. "Matching us with sectors that counter our strengths."
Zaynah folded her fans, her expression unreadable. "Then we have to outlearn him."
Kekoa smiled faintly.
"Then it's a race to see who finds the light first."
