Prophecies never end, not really

Prophecies can end. But new ones can start.

Sonic was sleeping when she heard something and opened her eyes, got up and walked over to the window but saw nothing.

"Sonic." someone said and she turned to see Oracle.

"Oracle?" she said.

"It is time for you to show them what you hold." he said and she looked at him confused.

"What are you talking about?"

"You hold more than your speed, medallion and what you were taught. You hold more to learn while Sonia and Manic do not. You hold more power to unleash, power that Knuckles can help you learn to use. Power that people you have yet to meet will help you with. Skills you will learn yourself and more." he said and she thought. "But to do that, you will have to leave Mobotropolis and go off on more adventures yourself. Create another team, make new friends, rivals and allies."

"Fine." she said and he nodded then she turned around, opened the window and jumped ready to set out on a new adventure.

Oracle watched while Aleena and Chuck walked in and stood next to him.

"She'll be alright, won't she?" Aleena asked.

"She was the best Freedom Fighter and Resistance member Aleena, she'll be fine." Chuck said.

"She will gain multiple powers, skills, friends, allies, rivals and more over the years as I said. A new team, a new Resistance in a few years, and more. She will do great things as she gets older." Oracle said and Aleena looked at him.

"Show me like you showed me last time." Aleena said and he snapped his fingers so she and Chuck watched a small future.

They saw her with Knuckles, a fox, a black and red hedgehog, a bat, a robot, a pink hedgehog, a rabbit, a blue cat, two chaos, a crocodile, a chameleon, a bee, a silver hedgehog, a purple cat, and more.

Then they saw flashes of Sonic fighting with them together with either just Knuckles and the fox, just herself, her, the black and red hedgehog, her, the black and red and silver hedgehogs, the three of them together and more.

"She will be through much and they will work together. They will be the new Resistance one day and together there will be a flashback of when Robotnik took over Mobotropolis. A few will not be there during that and will come shortly after while others will come during and others will disappear during. Friendship will be tested, rivalry will be crashed and turned into allies or civil, families will be broken and they will all look up to Sonic and them for help." he said and tears went down both Aleena and Chuck's eyes.

"Will she ever be back?" Aleena asked.

"In time perhaps," he said while Sonic ran. "but for now, she has many adventures to do and many lives to save as well as someone to stop. But first a friend to meet up with." he said while she used a Sonic Boom to speed up to the Floating Island to meet up with Knuckles.

Station Square was hustling and bustling with traffic and pretty much another normal day.

In the sewers under the city, the water started to ripple and soon to form into waves that had the troughs between them become deeper and deeper.

Above, no one was aware of what's happening.

Back in the sewers, water started to flood the tunnels, while above ground, manhole covers started to be blown clean into the air as water erupted from them, causing panic as cars screech to a halt to avoid hitting the geysers, the streets started cracking and fissure, and water started to blast out of buildings, shattering windows and flooding the streets before a huge tsunami roared over the buildings. When it was all over, the city was a flooded wasteland. Several windows on one wrecked building continue to blow out before a huge rush of water burst out before reforming into the head of Perfect Chaos. The beast let out a loud roar before zooming in on its eye as it opened to look around with its reptilian pupil.

"If I wasn't just dreaming, that monster is a real menace!" Sonic said realizing how vicious Chaos really is then saw the Egg Carrier 2 from the corner of her left eye and Eggman then attempted to engage Perfect Chaos in combat. "Eggman! Looks like he's after Chaos, too!"

"This Egg Carrier 2 was made because something like this could happen. You have defied your master, stupid beast. Now you must be destroyed at all costs!" Eggman said and open fired on Perfect Chaos, but Perfect Chaos demolished the Egg Carrier 2 with a massive beam of energy.

Eggman was flung away in his Egg Mobile after the Egg Carrier 2 crashed and exploded in a ball of fire.

"Aaaaahhhhh!" Eggman yelled.

"I've had enough! Who do you think you are, anyway?" Sonic said then Tikal arrived. "Oh, it's you! The one... who sealed Chaos... in the Master Emerald! Tikal!" she said and Tikal took physical form.

"My heart has always been in the Master Emerald, along with Chaos'. Now he's filled with anger and sadness. And If it goes on, he'll eventually destroy the world, like he did before!" Tikal said and Perfect Chaos let forth a terrifying roar and discarded the now powerless Chaos Emeralds. "Look! he's absorbed the Emerald's power! He must be sealed in the Master Emerald, NOW!"

"How can that help? It won't change how he feels inside, will it? His heart will still remain in turmoil and his anger just won't vanish! He'll just be trapped forever!"

"What choice do we have?"

"Hey, Sonic!" Amy said.

"Amy!"

"Here, take this!" Amy said and handed out a Chaos Emerald.

"Hey guys, what's up?"

"Chaos only used the negative power of the Emeralds. Sonic, you should be able to harness their real power!" Tails said.

"As much as I hate to admit it, I think Tails is right about this!" Knuckles said and looked at her. "We worked on your Chaos Energy for months, it's time to see what you have."

"Negative forces aren't the only way to empower the Chaos Emeralds. Our positive feelings toward each other can make them work. Our hearts together form awesome power."

So Sonic closed her eyes and used the positive feelings of her friends and the citizens of Station Square to restore the Chaos Emeralds power and transformed into Super Sonic. Then she turned to Perfect Chaos, who prepared itself for battle.

Perfect Chaos projected a barrier around itself, but it was smashed by Super Sonic. Perfect Chaos then turned its tentacles into drills, but she spun into them, shattering them. Not even Perfect Chaos' laser mouth can hurt her, so it fired an even stronger laser that headed toward the others so she moved in front of it and the beam did nothing.

"You can't stop me!" she said and the others smiled then Perfect Chaos whipped a tentacle toward her, but she used a hand to stop it, and used Chaos energy to dissolve it. "Is that the best you can do?" she said and Perfect Chaos fired a laser beam from its mouth again, but she charged headfirst toward it, and forced it back to sender.

Once she flew inside Perfect Chaos, she exit again as the water god glowed gold and vanished in a bright light. Sonic had won.

Knuckles smiled nodding with his arms crossed.

'My training is complete.' he thought when the puddle that was Chaos landed on the ground, and it reverted to its base form.

He saw several of his organic kind, the Chao, and knew of their peacefulness.

"Chaos has changed again. This time for the better." Knuckles said.

"Yeah! Super Sonic must have neutralized it, so it's nice again." Tails said and Tikal arrived before Chaos.

"These are the Chao you were protecting. They stayed alive for generations and now live peacefully with humans." she said. "The fighting's over. Harmony's restored, and life goes on." she said then turned to Sonic and company. "Thank you so much!"

Then she and Chaos levitate into the air and disappeared in a flash of light when Sonic noticed Eggman flying away.

"All's well that ends well, right? Sonic?" Tails said and Sonic jumped between the flooded buildings.

The alarm was blaring loudly.

"Argh! What the... What's going on?! Why doesn't the Cannon fire?!" Eggman asked and a red light came in. "What?! What's happening here?!"

On the terminal's screen, a recording of Gerald activated.

"It's... it's my grandfather! Gerald Robotnik!"

Meanwhile Sonic and Knuckles entered the RF, and the ARK started to tremble.

"What's that...that vibration?!" Knuckles asked.

"Hey, wait... somebody's coming!" Sonic said when Rouge dropped down from above.

"You...? You haven't given up yet?!"

"It's all over for us..." Rouge said.

"What do you mean?"

"I just received a message from my boss... The Space Colony ARK, is currently approaching earth at an incredible velocity. It, probably... will impact earth..."

Then the message from Gerald came up on the computer nearby in the room.

"What's that on the screen?" he asked.

Similar to Eggman's announcement that he would overtake the world, Gerald's recording played all throughout the earth, on every single television. In it, an embarrassed Gerald was bound to a chair by metal chains.

"This is a death sentence for every human being on earth. If my calculations are correct, the Space Colony ARK will impact the earth in twenty-seven minutes, fifty-three seconds. All of you will be destroyed, along with your beloved planet earth." he said.

Then the ARK hurtled towards the earth, and from entering into the atmosphere of the planet, was encased in a ball of fire.

The pre-recorded message was still playing.

"I plan to give you a taste of my revenge, once all the seven Chaos Emeralds are collected. Once I initiate this program, it cannot be disabled. All of you ungrateful humans, who took everything away from me... will feel my loss, and despair!" Gerald said.

"Is there anything else you want to say?" GUN Soldiers aid.

"No..."

"Ready!"

"What's going on here?! Who is that?" Amy asked.

"I plan to give you a taste of my revenge-" Gerald said.

"Hey, the vibration's getting worse." Knuckles said.

"Professor Gerald Robotnik! One of the greatest scientific minds in the world, and my grandfather!" Eggman said.

"What?! I knew you were behind all this! Stop it right now, or else-"

"-I'd have done this a long time ago if I had the chance."

"What do you mean?" Sonic asked.

"You're pretty persistent for a hedgehog, aren't you? You're still alive, huh?"

"Heh, just letting Knuckles pilot the shuttle all the way over here, was more dangerous than you could ever be!"

Then Eggman handed Rouge a computer disk.

"What's this?" Rouge said.

"This is my grandfather's diary." Eggman said.

Then she put it into the terminal by the wall, and text started scrolling up on the monitor.

"I don't quite know what happened, or what went wrong. Was it a mistake to create the Ultimate Life Form? I thought it would be something that would benefit mankind... But then the military guards landed on the Colony that day. They were sent to destroy the research project that I had been working on. My colleagues at the research facility, my granddaughter Maria, I hope you are all safe." she said.

Then her voice starts blending in with Gerald's, as he shifted in as the main speaker.

"The colony was completely shut down, probably to prevent the prototype from falling into the wrong hands." they said.

"The ARK was shut down under the premise that there had been an accident. I found Maria's name among those who died when the ARK was shut down. She meant everything to me! And I couldn't bear the thought that she died because of my research. I lost everything! I had nothing more to live for! I went insane! All I could think about, was to avenge her! Somehow, someway, I got scared as I no longer was able to control my thoughts. All I could think about, was that I wanted it all to end. Based on my original projections, I was able to complete my project; Shadow. I designed its mind to be perfect, pure... I will leave everything, to him. If you wish, release and awaken it to the world.." Gerald said.

"if you wish to fill the world with destruction." Rouge said. "Oh, so that's why you released Shadow from the base!" she said to Eggman.

"The core of the Eclipse Cannon is now highly reactive and explosive. This is because of the energy of the Chaos Emeralds is overpowering it. If the colony collides with earth, it will shatter into pieces like my grandfather predicted!" Eggman said. "That mad scientist!" he said affectionately.

"That should be you, right?" Amy said.

"We have to stop the Space Colony, now!" Tails said.

"The Space Colony ARK's position may have shifted due to the amount of energy given off by the Emeralds. We have to stop the energy!" Eggman said.

"But... how?"

"Hmm, that's it. There is a way to stop the energy!" Rouge said. "We have to use your Emerald! You're the one who told me that the Master Emerald has the power to stop the Chaos Emeralds!" she said to Knuckles.

"That's right." Knuckles said then pulled out the Master Emerald. "If I use this, I just might be able to stop the Chaos Emeralds!"

"The reaction of the Chaos Emeralds is moving toward the Cannon's Core! It may be too late!" Tails said.

"There still may be time left. If we pull together, we might be able to get to the shortcut that leads to the core!" Eggman said.

"No worries! Just leave it to me! I'm the world's fastest hedgehog!" Sonic said.

"Okay! Let's get to work!"

Meanwhile Amy was pacing back and forth outside the RF.

"Ooh, I hate it when they leave me behind!" she said and noticed Shadow inside. "Look! It's Shadow!" she said and paused. "I've really gotta stop whining. Everyone's trying their best to help out, and so must I!" she said and ran to him. "Shadow, we need you! Please help us!"

"It's all going according to plan. There's no reason for me to help them. Besides, there's no way to save anyone." Shadow said.

"There has to be! I know that people fight over the most trivial things. Some people may be selfish, like the professor said... but they're basically good, if they try their best and never give up on their wishes. They always have a reason to be happy; that's why you should help them out! Saving them is a good thing! Shadow, I beg you, please do it for them! Give them a chance!

Then Shadow has a flashback of Maria.

"Shadow... I beg of you... please, do it for me... for a better future..." Maria said.

"Maria!" Shadow said.

"for all the people who live on that planet... give them a chance to be happy. Let them live for their dreams. Shadow, I know you can do it. That's the reason that you were brought into this world. Sayonara, Shadow, the Hedgehog."

"That's what I've promised her... I must keep that promise... That's what Maria wished for..." he said and a tear dripped down his face.

"Shadow?" Amy said.

"I gotta go now. I have to keep my promise to Maria - and you." he said and sprinted off.

Meanwhile Sonic and Knuckles made it to the Core, where they noticed a raised area that resembled the Master Emerald's shrine atop Angel Island.

"What's that? It looks just like the shrine of the Master Emerald!" Knuckles said.

"They probably designed the core like the shrine to harness the power of the Chaos Emeralds." Sonic said and they started running to the platform, but Gerald's message played again.

"All of you ungrateful humans, who took everything away from me, will feel my loss and despair!" he said and dozens of Gerald's images flew through the room. "All of you ungrateful humans, who took everything away from me, will feel my loss and despair!"

"Knuckles, here it comes!" Sonic said and a light flashed and the Biolizard teleported into the center of the room; letting off a menacing screech.

Then it dropped down in the center of the chamber.

"Could this be the prototype of the Ultimate Life Form that was supposed to be encapsulated?" Knuckles asked when Shadow walked out past them.

"Leave this one to me." he said.

"Shadow, what're you doing?!" Sonic asked as he walked up below the Biolizard, facing his prototype intently, then turned back to her.

"I'll take care of this, while you run to get the Chaos Emeralds!"

Later Sonic and Knuckles reached the platform, and saw a hole in the center for the Master Emerald to be inserted. Knuckles took out the Master Emerald, and put it in.

"The servers are, the seven Chaos. Chaos is power; power is enriched by the heart. The controller is the one that unifies the Chaos. Only you can do this; stop the Chaos Emeralds!" he said and it spun rapidly and emitted a green aura.

Several mixed energies dashed around, and the Biolizard screeched. After shrieking again, it used Chaos Control to warp away.

"Is it gone?"

Then Shadow jumped onto the shrine platform.

"Is that what... Chaos Control is?" he asked.

Then the vibrations throughout the Colony intensify.

"Since we stopped the Chaos Emeralds, why is the Space Colony still on a crash course to earth?!" Knuckles asked.

"The Prototype is still alive! He's controlling the Space Colony as it is falling to earth! He has become one with the Space Colony, and is determined to keep it on its collision course!" Eggman said on speakers.

Then Sonic looked to Shadow.

"Sonic!" Knuckles said and she looked at him, then back at Shadow; who also looked at her.

Then Sonic and Shadow raised their hands in the air and the seven Chaos Emeralds encircled them. They closed their eyes and focused, making the Emeralds spin rapidly around them. Opening their eyes, they absorbed the powers; transforming into their Super forms.

Then they teleported outside ready to take on the Final Lizard and dodged a laser beam it fired from its mouth.

"Let's give it our best shot!" Super Shadow said.

"All right! We can go in at full speed and finish it off." Super Sonic said and they damaged the Final Lizard.

Space Colony ARK - Outside. Shadow transfers his powers to Sonic

Then the Final Lizard fired three lasers from its mouth at once but they easily avoid them, then target the giant lizard's back simultaneously. Even though the Final Lizard was beaten, the space station continued toward Earth. It started to become engulfed in flames as it entered Earth's atmosphere.

"You're stopping right here!" Super Sonic said and they used all their might to try and push the space station back into space while they heard the cheers of their friends.

"You can do it, Sonic!" Tails said.

"Give it all you got, Shadow!" Eggman said.

"If you fail, the entire planet will be destroyed!" Rouge said.

"Tough it out, you guys!" Knuckles said.

"You can do it!" Amy said.

"We know you can!" Cream said.

"Those people need you, Shadow…" Maria said.

A few seconds later the ARK was plunging down to earth, wrapped in fire and Super Sonic and Super Shadow sped to it, enveloped in a golden light.

"No way that's getting through!" Super Sonic said.

"Shadow... I beg of you..." Maria said.

"(Maria!)" Super Shadow said.

"Give them a chance... to be happy!"

"I am Shadow! Shadow the Hedgehog!" he said, cast off his limiters, greatly intensifying his strength and put them on Super Sonic confusing her. "You hold the powers I do. You need to learn to control them and a way to control your strength or your Chaos will get to you so use them just like I did. We both know I won't make it through this." He said and she nodded. "You ready?"

"You bet! Here we come!" Super Sonic said and they prepared their most powerful move.

"Chaos!"

"Control!"

In a brilliant display of light, they used Chaos Control to send the colony back into orbit.

Having worn out his Super form, Shadow was falling down to the earth, with an purple-ish light under him.

"Maria... this is what you wanted, right? This is my promise I made to you..." he said and fell into the purple glow, blinking out.

The ARK reappeared farther away; motionless.

From the main city all the way to the desert, everyone on earth was celebrating and cheering.

Meanwhile Sonic came in through the door.

"Where is Shadow?" Rouge asked while Sonic looked down at Shadow's bracelets. "Do you really think... that the professor created him, Shadow, to carry out the revenge on all those who live here, on earth?"

"He was what he was. A brave and heroic hedgehog, who gave his life to save this planet. Shadow the Hedgehog…" Sonic said.

'And someone that can feel my Chaos, somehow.' she thought. 'Is it really that strong?'

"I guess you're right..."

"As a child, I looked up to my grandfather because of all the great things he accomplished in his life. He was my hero, and I wanted to be a great scientist like him. But... did he really mean to destroy us?" Eggman said.

"I don't know. But what I do know is; we all did it together!" Tails said.

"You're right."

"So what's next for you, Rouge? Off again to find those jewels you love so much?" Knuckles asked.

"Nah, I think I'm gonna give up this line of work. Too much work, for too little pay. Anyway... I've got something better than jewels that I'm thinking about right now... ...It'll all work out, you'll see." Rouge said.

"If you say so."

"Created... the Ultimate Life Form." Sonic said.

"What's the matter, Sonic?" Amy asked.

"Oh, it's nothing. Come on! Let's go home! To the planet as cool and blue as me!" Sonic said and everyone left the room, but she stopped at the door, and turned back to the windows along the wall. "Sayonara, Shadow, the Hedgehog." she said and left as well.

Team Chaotix was in Eggman's jail cell.

"Then who was it? Who locked you up here for trying to conquer the world?" Vector asked.

"It was..." Eggman started.

Later a vast thunderstorm was raging in Eggman's fleet. Team Sonic, Team Dark and Team Rose converged on Neo Metal Sonic, who was standing at the top of a tower.

"Hmmhmmhmmhmm... All living things kneel before your master!" Neo Metal Sonic said creating an electrifying plume of light from his palm which blew up the tower. " Neo Metal Sonic sad.

Team Chaotix joined the others just in time to witness him undergo a transformation, and the teams watched on in horror. In a vortex of bright light and smoke, Neo Metal Sonic attached parts of the destroyed tower to himself and transformed into an immense metallic beast known as Metal Madness. Metal Madness let out a deafening roar.

"Metal Sonic has finally transformed!" Eggman said.

Then an enormous horde of panicked Egg Pawns made a hasty retreat to escape Metal Madness.

"So that's Metal Sonic?!" Sonic said.

"It's useless! Metal Sonic has combined your data with the power of Chaos and is super strong! We can't defeat it! Aargh... if only we had the seven Chaos Emeralds!" Eggman said.

Then Cream pulled out the yellow Emerald and showed it to him, and the others followed. Big had the purple one, Rouge had the white one, Omega had the green one, Sonic had the blue one, Espio had the red one and Charmy had the cyan one. Eggman was stunned at the sight of them.

"What's this? But how? Even with the Emeralds' power, our chances for victory are slim. It would take a miracle!" he said.

"Just leave that to me, Doc..." Sonic said.

"Sonic, no!" Amy said.

"I'm going with you, too!" Tails said.

"Tails..." Sonic said.

"You can count me in, too." Knuckles said.

"Knuckles..."

"Okay guys, we'll buy you some time. That way you can use your super powers." Shadow said.

Team Dark, Team Rose and the Chaotix non-verbally affirmed that they'll fight in the upcoming battle. Tails and Knuckles stood by Sonic's side, who turned in a circle to address all his comrades at once.

"Okay then, let's get ready to do this. We'll show that creep the real super power of TEAM WORK!" Sonic said.

Having taken considerable damage, the furious Metal Madness flailed about and roared. Suddenly, his fingers burst off and were replaced by long, slender blades which resembled wings, making him airborne. He had transformed into Metal Overlord. With a flap of his wings, the metallic brute shot off into the skies. Team Sonic was ready for the next stage and nodded in agreement. As they placed their hands together, the Chaos Emeralds whirled rapidly around their heads. Sonic crossed his arms, closed his eyes and transformed into Super Sonic. Tails and Knuckles found themselves encased in a protective shield, levitate upwards and joined Sonic's side. Then they zoomed forward to finish Metal Overlord once and for all.

The defeated Neo Metal Sonic was crouched on the ground in hopelessness as Team Sonic rushed over to him. His body glowed white and he reverted back to ordinary Metal Sonic.

"It's no use... but why can't I defeat you?" Metal Sonic said.

"Heh. Because... we're Sonic Heroes!" Sonic said.

Then the other three teams arrived.

"Sonic!" Amy said.

"Anytime you want a rematch, just let me know. I'll be waiting." Sonic said and zipped away with Tails and Amy running after him.

"Hey Sonic, wait up!" Tails said.

"Sorry to leave like this, but I can't let my Sonic get away!" Amy said.

"Good luck, Amy!" Cream said.

"Bye-bye!" Big said.

"Chao Chao!" Cheese said.

"Sonic sure has his hands full." Knuckles said.

"I guess I'm outta here, too. I think I'll go hunt for someone else's treasure." Rouge said and strut away contentedly.

"She never gives up, does she?" he said and charged after her as she quickened her pace. "Oh no, you don't! Wait!"

"Guess that's it for this case." Vector said.

"Guess so." Espio said.

"But what about our money?" Charmy asked.

"Man, I almost forgot!" Vector said and Eggman was surreptitiously sneaking away, but the Chaotix saw him and gave chase. "That SLIME BALL!"

Omega was holding Metal Sonic in his arms. Shadow and Omega looked at each other in confusion.

Later Team Sonic was running through Seaside Hill.

"Alright! Our next adventure awaits us, so there's no time to waste! Yeah! We're SONIC HEROES!" Sonic said and his pals jumped and struck an ending pose.

At Sand Ruins.

"Now, our race has reached its final stage. The remaining competitors are pacing, anxious for the race to begin. Only a few minutes left. Who will win this big event?" Omochao said and confetti was thrown in the coliseum.

"Sonic! Congratulations! I'll be over here, cheering you on!" Amy said and Sonic nodded and Amy smiled.

Sonic, Knuckles, Tails and Jet all started walking up the coliseum's large staircase.

"And now, it's time for the final event! And it's set here... in Sand Ruins! The rules are still the same; anything goes in this extreme race! Although it needs no further explanation, the first one to reach the goal will win this race!" Eggman said and five of them were set on an "altar" at the stair's top. "But remember, the prize will be won by the racer who's performed the best throughout this competition!"

Sonic took out her Emerald and Jet did the same.

"Hah, you're lucky you got this far. It obviously wasn't due to your, "skills."" Jet said.

"Heh, I won't lose now." Sonic said and they set their Emeralds down.

"Hohoho! Get ready; it's time for the final race to begin!" Eggman said.

After winning the race Jet was getting the Chaos Emeralds.

Then each of them shot a small beam of light into the control box, igniting a glowing sphere inside it. Said sphere fired a beam of light like the Emeralds, but aiming it out at the desert. In the distance, mountains of dirt were thrown out as a loud rumbling starts. Then a floating ruin raised out of the sand and into the sky.

"This... this is... Babylon Garden..." Jet said.

Then a crane outreached and grabbed the control box out of his hand. Jet, dazed by the sight of Babylon Garden, not noticing the crane, but only flexed his hand slightly with the feel of the box missing; by the time Eggman spoke, Jet noticed the box was gone.

"Hohohohoho! Now I'll get the Treasure of Babylon!" Eggman said.

"Oh, no!" Amy said then ran up to Eggman, and grabbed onto the machine he's using to fly.

Ignoring her, he took off for Babylon Garden.

"Eggman!" Jet said.

"Tails! Knuckles! We gotta get Eggman!" Sonic said.

Meanwhile Omochao was at Sky Road broadcasting on a monitor.

"News Flash: A mysterious airborne object has just appeared above the site where the EX World Grand Prix is being held." Omochao said and the monitor showed Babylon Garden rising out of the desert. "Apparently Sonic and his friends have gone to investigate. We'll try and get more details right after this important announcement... "

Soon at Babylon Garden Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were in the Tornado, next to Jet's airship. Eggman cruised by on his E-Rider down below, on Babylon Garden. Sonic prepared to jump off the Tornado, but Tails stopped her.

"I found you!" she said.

"Wait, Sonic, use this!" Tails said and tossed her the Blue Star II.

"What is it?"

"It's a new Gear I prepped up, just in case something like this happened."

"Thinking ahead Tails? Thanks!" she said and dove off the Tornado and Jet met her in the air. "Jet..."

They both landed on the Garden.

"You can't catch up with him! Get outta my way!" Jet said.

"Is that what you think? Take a look at this! I'll show you what true speed really is!" Sonic said.

Soon Tails, Knuckles, Wave and Storm all landed on Babylon Garden; Tails fell off his board, while Knuckles landed perfectly.

"Oh man, looks like we have company." Wave said.

"We gonna rumble?" Knuckles asked.

Then he and Storm walked up to each other, preparing to fight. A series of Eggman's robots approached everyone, setting their targets on them.

"Targeting... Targeting... Attack!" E-10000R said.

Then the horde of E-10000R and E-10000G robots ran towards Knuckles and the rest. Tails stood up.

"Knuckles, now's not the time to fight!" he said.

"Smart thinking! Let's get out of here! Forget the red mutt. Let's go, Storm!" Wave said.

"Did she say, "Red mutt"...?" Knuckles asked and Storm and Wave rode away, with him tailing them. "W-Why you...!"

"Hey Knuckles, wait for me!" Tails said and dashed to his board.

Getting on it, he darted away, knocking the robots behind him with his turbulence.

Later Wave smirked as she saw Jet in the distance, talking with Sonic, Knuckles and Tails.

"Hmph! I lost. So don't play games with me! I don't want your pity, nor do I need it!" Jet said and handed the control box out to Sonic.

"Wha-? Are you crazy?" Wave said and she and Storm walked up to everyone. "If they don't want it, then let's take it. Treasure is treasure!" she said and he looked down, but followed them. "Come on, let's get out of here!" she said and they got to the door where Eggman was.

"OK, let's go!" he said and raised his control box up to the door.

Then a bright light shone from within it, opening the door, revealing a large chamber inside with a door on the far end. The Babylon Rogues headed towards while back outside, Amy was chasing Sonic in circles around Tails and Knuckles, but they stopped as the Babylon Guardian let out a growl.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" Babylon Guardian said.

"What!? Hmm, finally something interesting." Sonic said.

Back in the chamber, Jet, Wave and Storm passed through the second door into an enormous and seemingly endless corridor. As they got a ways into the passage, the Babylon Guardian growls again.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" he said.

Then the doors begin to close. They were in the chamber, heading for the corridor.

"Look Sonic! The door's closing!" Tails sad.

"Hurry up!" Sonic said.

They made it in just as the doors shut completely. With everyone sealed in the room, the Babylon Guardian made his entrance.

"Greedy fools... Those who seek treasure will find only..." he said.

Whoa, what's this?" Sonic said.

"Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!" the Babylon Guardian said and dissolved into light, leaving behind a treasure-chest. Sonic and Jet open the chest.

"Oh, it's...!" they all said.

Then Eggman came in, pointing two guns at the group.

"Hehehehehe! Too awestruck by the treasure to notice me, eh?" he said.

"Eggman!" Sonic said.

"Now hand over the treasure!" he said and they exchanged laughs with each other. "W-What's so funny? Hand over the treasure right now!"

"Okay, catch!" Jet said and tossed him the treasure; a carpet.

"Hehehehehe! The Treasure of Babylon is finally mine! Huh? What iS this thing? A piece of cloth..." he said and unfold the carpet, letting a letter fall to the ground. "Let's see... Ah, this looks interesting. "At long last we've created our ultimate invention. With this, our lives will be easier, without the need to work so hard to keep ourselves flying. Stolen, the 13th leader of the Babylon Rogues..." he read then picked up the carpet. "It's amazing! The carpet's rich texture is a sight to behold! And the way it feels is extraordinary..."

Then he brushed it against his face.

"Something such as this could only have been created in Babylon! Undoubtedly, this carpet will be in high demand from all around the world. But... But what's this? No way... I went to the trouble of holding the World Grand Prix for... For this..? I... I can't believe I just wasted my time for this piece of junk." he said and collapsed onto the floor from shock.

"Hmm? What's this?" Tails said and went to the carpet.

"Good eyes. Didn't think you'd spot it for a second, shorty. But you did." Wave said.

"Hey, what're you talking about?" Sonic asked.

"This, isn't just a piece of fabric."

"Right, take a look at the material. It's the same stuff we use for our Extreme Gear." Tails said.

"You don't say..." Jet said and pulled out his control box and the light inside it resonated, causing the carpet to float off the ground.

"Oh, it's..." Sonic started.

"Not sure, but maybe it's a prototype Gear..." Wave said.

"A magic carpet? I thought that those only existed in fiction."

"That's quite funny, actually. I never imagined that we Babylonians could be descendants of real genies." Jet said.

After another race Sonic crossed the finish line first, with Jet just a bit behind. Then she stopped and turned around, right as he lost balance and got sent spiraling through the air.

"Even without wings, I can still fly! Right?" she said and Jet hits the ground in frustration.

Meanwhile in Babylon Garden, Eggman was in front of a huge door covered with markings.

"Where are you, Eggman?!" Sonic said and got off her board.

As she walked closer to Eggman, he reached into a bush and pulled out Amy.

"Haha! Look before you move!" Eggman said.

"Darn!" Sonic said when Jet came into view.

"Hohohoho! Now then... just be a good hedgehog and stay still." Eggman said and smirked.

Then he started to raise Jet's control box up to the door.

"Now!" Sonic said and charged up the thrusters on her board, taking off into the air, leaving a whirlwind in her wake while Eggman shield his eyes. "Can you catch the wind?"

As Eggman opened his eyes, he saw that she was gone.

"What?! Where are you?!" he said.

"I'm here!" Sonic said and crashed straight down from above, sending him and Amy into another tornado.

Then she caught the control box as it flew from Eggman's grip.

"Hey, catch!" she said and tossed it to Jet; who caught it.

"Wh-what?!" he said as she landed in front of hin; Tails and Knuckles next to her. "Hmph! I lost. So don't play games with me. I don't want your pity, nor do I need it!" he said and handed the control box out to her.

"Wha-? Are you crazy? Wave said as she and Storm walked in.] "If they don't want it, then let's take it. Treasure is treasure."

Jet looked down, but followed them.

"Ah, I think it's time to leave now. Tails?" Sonic said.

"Yeah." Tails said and he, Sonic and Knuckles turned to leave.

"So-NIIIC?!" Amy said and Sonic looked more than a bit scared.

"Amy...?" Sonic said.

"How could you dive into Eggman knowing I was there!?" Amy said looking at the ground.

"Well, Amy... I thought... it'd be... okay... with you, and, uh..."

Amy looked up, glaring at her then started chasing her with her hammer.

"Sonic! Come back HERE! AHHH! Sonic! I won't forgive you this time!" Amy said and chased Sonic back to Tails and Knuckles, and kept running around in circles.

Later Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Jet, Wave and Storm were all looked out at Babylon Garden from down below.

"So, you're leaving this place?" Sonic said.

"Yeah. The back of the carpet has more words of wisdom. It says, "This was invented to allow Babylonians to travel all over the world to gather treasure." Some things never change, huh? But enough of this friendly banter, Sonic. You better make sure you're ready when we meet face to face once again." Jet said.

"You bet!"

"Come on, Jet. It's time to split." Wave said and Storm hit her on the back.

"Hey, I wanted to say that..." he said.

Jet sighed.

"We should split, too. Right?" Tails said.

"Yeah." Sonic said.

Then Jet and Sonic tossed their boards in the air; leaping onto them, they move directly opposite each other. Curving back around, they jumped through the sky, passing each other; their boards' engines' exhaust creating an "X". They looked back at each other one last time, smirking. Wave and Storm dashed on ahead with Jet following.

"You may be the fastest, for now... but I'll be back, Sonic the Hedgehog!" Jet said and darted in between Storm and Wave, jumping off an arch in the sand.

Mephiles was in a forest when he grabbed the purple Chaos Emerald floating in front of him and he slowly looked away.

Meanwhile Sonic and Elise were walking through the Forest when they were blinded by the light from the purple Chaos Emerald and Mephiles appeared behind them and impaled Sonic in the back with an energy beam. Elise screamed when Mephiles withdrawer his energy beam and Sonic fell to the ground, dead.

"Sonic! Sonic!" Elise said and shook her while Mephiles laughed with maniacal and sinister delight. "Sonic?" she said and rolled her over.

Then Elise was a seven-year-old holding the blue Chaos Emerald.

"Yes, Elise... Don't cry, no matter what happens." Duke said.

"Oh... no." Elise said and she was back to normal time. "Nooooooooo!" she said and cried and Iblis burst out from her.

"Finally, the seal is broken! At long last, I'll be able to join with you! Iblis! Now, Chaos Emerald! It's time for the final curtain call!" Mephiles said and laughed.

Then he levitated the purple Chaos Emerald into the air.

At Dusty Desert Shadow, Rouge and Omega were finished fighting the Mephiles clones. Shadow was putting back his limiters and about to get the yellow and green Chaos Emerald on the ground when they suddenly emitted a powerful white light, blinding them all.

Meanwhile Mephiles was flying the air with the seven Chaos Emeralds supplying him with power. Iblis' flames enveloped him and they remerged, re-creating Solaris. In Castle Town, Tails, Knuckles and Amy were walking through the populated streets when suddenly the white light from Solaris envelops Soleanna and the surrounding areas.

Solaris shined a bright light in the black void and Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Silver, Shadow, Rouge, Omega and Eggman found themselves on a floating fragment of Soleanna.

"What is this?" Tails said.

"Where are we? What's going on?" Amy said.

"Is this because of that light?" Knuckles said.

"The Chaos Emerald has disappeared..." Silver said.

"Silver?" Amy said.

"What are doing here? This is all so confusing..."

"It's all because of Solaris." Rouge said.

"It seems we were all caught by the spatial distortion. Iblis' seal has been broken. Due to Mephiles manipulation." Eggman said.

Then they saw Elise cradling Sonic nearby.

"Sonic?" Amy said.

"No... You don't think..." Tails said.

"Sonic!" Knuckles said.

Amy collapsed and began crying while everyone else was emotionally struck by Sonic's death.

"Mephiles played us all for fools! His plan all along was to cause the Princess to be consumed with despair that she'd cry." Eggman said.

"So that's why he wanted me to kill Sonic before..." Silver said.

Shadow turned away while closing his eyes and crossing his arms.

Meanwhile, Solaris began giving off strange, loud sounds.

"Solaris!" Silver said.

"This creature will consume all existing timelines. And time itself will collapse and disappear into nothingness." Eggman said.

"The instability of time caused this time-space rift." Shadow said.

"It won't remain for much longer."

"We've no time to waste. We've got to defeat it now!" Knuckles said.

"No, it is a transcendent life form that exists in the past, present and future. Defeating it here, now, would do nothing."

"No, I won't give up. There has to be a way. If you say it exists in the past, present and future, I'll destroy them all at once!" Silver said.

"Certainly, it might have been possible, if she was still alive." Shadow said.

"Sonic! Sonic!" Amy said.

While Amy cried and everyone else mourned, a blue wind blew by which Elise felt.

"Sonic..." she said.

"What's the matter?" Silver said.

"I feel... Sonic's presence in the wind. I don't think she's dead yet! I'm sure of it. It's not too late!"

Shadow was shocked but could tell something was different about her.

"Of course! Let's call him back with power of the Chaos Emeralds! Focus your thoughts on using its power to perform this miracle..." he said. "You can do it, Princess!" he said and walked over to her.

"I can?"

"You were the vessel that was used to seal Iblis. You should be able to use the gems' power to rescue Sonic's soul!"

"I'll...Do it!" she said and nodded.

"Solaris flung the Chaos Emeralds to the distant corners of this distorted world." Eggman said and adjusted his glasses into a radar.

"To collect them all in time, we'll have to split up!" Tails said.

"I'll go, too! Because it's for Sonic! So Elise... Watch over her!" Amy said.

Then Shadow, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Silver, Rouge and Omega left in separate directions, leaving Elise with Sonic.

When they found them all they went back to Elise and Sonic lied lifelessly in the center with the seven Chaos Emeralds surrounding her. Shadow, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Silver, Rouge, Omega and Eggman stood on the sidelines while Elise prayed to the Chaos Emeralds.

"Oh Chaos Emeralds, gems of miracles. Please heed my call." she said. "I wish to save this world. I wish to cleanse my father's sin. And, I wish to talk to Sonic... once again!" she said and the Chaos Emeralds started glowing brighter. "You have given me so many things. Now it is my time to return the favor. I care not what happens to me. But please heed my voice. Sonic, come back! To me... To us!" she said and the Chaos Emeralds and still lifeless Sonic started levitating into the air.

Then she kissed her and a bright light whited out the screen. When the light died down, Sonic stood before everyone, revived as Super Sonic. Elise fell into Sonic's arms from exhaustion.

"Thank you, Elise." Super Sonic said.

Everyone was happy at her return. After getting Elise back up, past Super Sonic turned to Shadow and Silver and transformed them into Super Shadow and Super Silver. The trio of super transformed then flew up to combat Solaris.

"We got this guys, we're some of the strongest people here. It's four against one." future Super Sonic said.

They nodded and started.

Super Shadow, Super Silver and Super Sonic tried to go through it.

Finally they were done.

Then Solaris' light orb was giving off bursts of light and everyone was celebrating their victory. As a bright light enveloped everything, a white flame formed in a black void.

Sonic and Elise were floating in a black void.

"Did you destroy it?" Elise asked and a white light appeared.

"...No. That is the true Solaris." past Super Sonic said and they moved into the light.

Then there was a flashback where a young Elise and the Duke of Soleanna watched Solaris' original form, a small white flame, in its casing.

"Look, Elise. This is Solaris, the flame of hope." the duke said.

"It's so beautiful..." Elise said.

"When the flame has grown large enough, our world will change. Solaris will allow us to control time and move through history. People will be able to rectify past mistakes and avoid bitter fate."

"Will we be able to see momma?"

"Yes, Elise. We'll both be able to see your mother once again." the duke said and they left Solaris.

Then it came back to the present where the present Elise and Sonic were approaching Solaris' casing.

"This is where everything began. Who knew such a tiny flame could bring such devastation?" Elise said and took out Solaris and its candleholder. "If we put out this flame, Solaris will never exist, And then we'll never have to worry about the Flames of Disaster, right? But our encounter... You and I will never meet. It will never have happened. I... To tell the truth, I don't care what happens to the world!" she said and cried.

"Elise. Just smile." Sonic said.

Elise smiled and Sonic assured all will be fine. Elise softly blew out Solaris.

Later in the Castle Town the Festival of the Sun was unfolding and Elise was in her boat waving to the audience. As Sonic came running, she noticed Elise and ran by so fast that she created a wind making Elise lose one of the feathers in her hair. Elise stood in awe after feeling the wind.

"Miss Elise?" Lady-in-waiting said.

"It felt like... like someone was calling me." Elise said.

"I'm sure. It's just the wind."

"Of course. But it felt so familiar somehow..." Elise said and continued the festival while Sonic watched from a rooftop.

As Elise's feather flew into the sky, Sonic watched it while smiling fondly.

Sonic and Shahra were in front of a door. The seven World Rings unlocked the door and they entered it. Erazor's razor was on the ground and he appeared from it.

"You just don't give up, do you?" Sonic said.

"You've brought me all seven World Rings. Well done!" Erazor Djinn said.

"Hey, of course! We're such good buddies, after all!"

"Shahra!" Erazor Djinn said but Shahra said nothing. "You have done well in using her to gather the rings. Now, give them to me!"

"Hey, hold on! Aren't you going to do something about this?" Sonic asked and pointed at her small flame.

"Shahra, please, quickly! Let us rule the world together!" hen said and Shahra flew to him with the seven World Rings.

"Shahra?! Wh-what's...?"

"I... I must..." Shahra said.

"Shahra, stop! You can't do this!" Sonic said. "Think about what will happen!"

"I'm sorry. I have no choice... I just want to be back with him."

"No! As Genie of the Ring. I command you! "Do what you truly think is right!" Sonic said and rubbed her ring getting Shahra confused.

Then Shahra fainted.

"Ahhh... aaaaah!" Shahra yelled.

"Shahra!" Sonic said and the World Rings started appearing next to Erazor.

"Prayers - Sadness - Rage - Hatred - Joy - Pleasure - Wishes. The seven hearts that make up the stories. These are the seven World Rings that bind these pages together!" Erazor Djinn said.

"Wha...!"

"But the life of the collector of the rings shall be offered up in sacrifice as the key for that control." I offer up your life, blue hedgehog!" Erazor Djinn said.

"Ngh!" she said and he tried to strike her with his razor, but Shahra got in front of Sonic and fell with the metal orb she had given to her falling too.

"Shahra!" Sonic yelled.

"Sonic... I'm... sorry. I knew... all along... I knew what would happen, and I still got you involved." Shahra said.

"It's okay. It's not your fault."

"Did I change my destiny? Did I keep our promise?"

"Shahra! Grant me a wish! I wish for you to not die and to go back to the way you were!"

"I'm so sorry, Master. I... cannot grant..." Shahra said then died and the ring on Sonic's finger broke.

"Hmph. In the end, such is the weak power of a Genie of the Ring." Erazor Djinn said and the seven World Rings enter his body getting him to transform into Alf Layla wa-Layla. "Ugh? Hrrrrgh! Wooaaarrrgh!"

"I am Alf Layla wa Layla. I AM the Arabian Nights. I will be its new creator! I will remake this world and this reality in my own image!" Alf Layla wa Layla said.

"This is awful. You're just some incomplete monster..." Sonic said and sparks came from him.

There World Rings were leaving his body and three of the rings entered Sonic.

"Aaahhhh!" she said and transformed into Darkspine Sonic.

Then she held Shahra's broken ring in her hand.

"We've got to stop him... Shahra! Please, lend me your power!" Darkspine Sonic said.

After the fight Erazor was lying in the middle of the space and Darkspine Sonic started flying down and returned to her normal form and the space went back to being the Night Palace. She hasn't got her flame anymore. Erazor grabbed his razor, still lying on the ground then stood on his knees.

"I shall not be defeated! If you defeat me, I will simply return, again and again! I am immortal! I cannot be vanquished! Muhhuhu-hahaha!" Erazor Djinn said while Sonic held his Magic Lamp behind his back then showed it to him. "That can't be!? That's...the-" he said then she remembered when Shahra gave her the metal orb.

"I want you to hold on to this." Shahra said.

Sonic remembered when Shahra was dying.

"...go back to the way you were!" she said and the metal orb transformed into Erazor's Magic Lamp.

Back to the present.

"The genie of the lamp is supposed to grant three wishes, am I right?" Sonic asked.

"I will never grant any wish from the likes of you!" Erazor Djinn said and she sat on the throne.

"Hm! My first wish. Bring Shahra back to life!" she said and pointed the lamp at him and it shot him on the chest.

"Ugh! My body... My body is..." he said and a light came from its chest.

Then it transformed into Shahra's ring, went back to Sonic's finger and Shahra rematerialized.

"My second wish. Return the Arabian Nights to the way you were, so that the world can have its stories again!" Sonic said.

"Wha!" Erazor Djinn said and got shot again. "Ugh!" he yelled and Arabian characters come out from his body and left through the door. "M-my..."

"My third wish. Erazor Djinn! You shall live out the rest of time, trapped inside your lamp as you were in days of old!" she said and he was shot a last time and knocked back a long distance.

"Ugh... ugh... ugh!" he said and a hurricane formed all around him. "Shahra. I know you're there! Please, stop him! We can start over, the two of us! I swear! I swear it! The world is mine! I cannot be denied by filthy rat! Whyyyyy?!" he yelled then the hurricane engulfs him and he was sucked to the lamp.

"I told you. I'm not a RAT!" she said as he entered the lamp and she tipped on the fire. "I'm a HEDGEHOG!" she said, put out the fire and saw Shahra was sad. "Shahra... Will you grant me one more wish?" she asked. "I wish for a mountain of handkerchiefs." she said and handkerchiefs come from the sky. "Now, just let yourself cry. As much as you need to. You'll have plenty of handkerchiefs to help you through it." she said and the handkerchiefs started entering the palace.

"And so, the legendary blue hedgehog, having saved the world of the Arabian Nights, ran endlessly, until he found his way back into his own world." Shahra said.

A few minutes later they were in Evil Foundry. Sonic dropped Erazor Djinn's lamp onto the lava. Sonic, Ali Baba and Sinbad were looking at something.

"Along the way, she had many adventures... but those are stories... for another time." Shahra said and remembered her promise to Sonic so she smiled and said goodbye at her. "Thank you... Sonic the Hedgehog. The Legendary Hedgehog."

Merlina appeared out of a small tornado.

"Merlina." Sonic said.

"I saw all that transpired through my reflecting pool. I have no words to thank you for all you have done." Melina said.

"Yeah, but it's not over yet."

"Sir Sonic is right. We must still defeat King Arthur." Caliburn said.

"The King is on an island known as Avalon. You have become a fine knight." Merlina said.

"Oh, cut it out. Anyways, I guess I'll go end this thing then." Sonic said.

"Good luck, Sir Sonic. I'll await you at Castle Camelot."

A few minutes later they were in front of King Arthur.

"I'm Sonic the Hedgehog, Knight of the Wind. Let's settle things once and for all King Arthur." Sonic said.

"It seems your impersonation of a knight has improved somewhat." Arthur said.

"I have you to thank for that."

"Then let us have another look at that unsightly swordsmanship."

"You're going to be sorry you asked. This is it, old pal."

"Indeed. Give it everything you have. Only then will you prevail." Caliburn said.

"Then bring it on King Arthur."

"Hahaha! I am immortal, you cannot defeat me." Arthur said and the scabbard glowed.

"Now Sonic... the three sacred swords!" Caliburn said.

"Got it!" Sonic said and formed a triangle with them surrounding King Arthur.

"How can this be?" Arthur asked as she slashed him and he fell down. "Noooooooo!"

"Yes! I did it!"

After the fight Sonic held up sword and King Arthur dissolved into dark matter. Excalibur's scabbard was left behind.

"What the...?" Sonic said.

Meanwhile Percival, Gawain, and Lancelot had Merlina surrounded at Castle Camelot.

"We have orders from the king, have you any last words?" Lancelot asked.

"Your king was nothing more than an illusion my grandfather conjured up." Merlina said.

"You've better start explaining Merlina." Percival said.

"Meeerrrliinnnaaa" Sonic said and dropped from the sky.

"You! How did come by that scabbard? Where is the King?" Gawain asked.

"Wait." Percival said and held him back.

"This is all he left after he disappeared in a puff of smoke. Just like one of the Knights of the Underworld." Sonic said.

"There was never any King Arthur." Merlina said.

"Huh?"

"Well done and thank you Sonic." she said and took scabbard. "With this scabbard I can erase my grandfather's biggest mistake."

"What?"

"I shall make this kingdom eternal." she said and her hair turned longer and a blast of energy occurred.

"Sonic, get back!" Caliburn said.

Then a vortex with black lightning appeared above Avalaon, and all four knights escaped Castle Camelot. Sonic lead, Lancelot was skating being him, Gawain was running, and Percival was hopping.

After they got away they were watching from away.

"So it was all part of Merlina's plot." Lancelot said.

"It keeps spreading." Percival said.

"It's only a matter of time before the kingdom is consumed."

"Gah! The Knights of the Round Table... must we simply stand and watch our kingdom's ruin!?" Gawain said.

"Gawain..."

"What? Are you gonna give up just like that? Is that the best that chivalry of yours can do?" Sonic asked.

"How dare you!" Gawain said.

"Listen, it's like I said before. Isn't there to being a knight than serving a king?" Sonic said and Nimue appeared from a portal on the ground.

"Sir Sonic is right, and there is still time if you act now." Nimue said and the portal showed a map with five blinking dots. "Use the scared swords to form a barrier around the castle." she said and they threw their three swords to the ground then they picked up their swords.

"For the kingdom and its people!" Percival said and they raised all three swords.

"For the kingdom and its people!" Lancelot and Gawain said.

"I'm counting on ya!" Sonic said.

"Sir Sonic, what will you do?" Percival asked.

"Once the barrier's up I'll look for a chance to jump in."

"Surely you jest!"

"Nah. It's just how I roll."

"Fare thee well. We too shall fulfill our appointed task."

When they split up Lancelot arrived at a stone pillar.

"This must be a barrier stone." he said and smashed his sword into the stone and the stone wall depicted some sort of writing. "This stone is what part of the wind that sealeth the Dark Hollow" Dark Hollow? What is Merlina up to now?"

Meanwhile Gawain arrived at another stone pillar.

"Here it is." he said, smashed the swords into the stone and the stone wall depicted some sort of writing. "'When the sacred sword pierces stone so shall return the power." What of Excalibur, the greatest of all the sacred swords? The King wore its scabbard but I never saw the sword itself."

Meanwhile Percival arrived at another stone pillar.

"This must be it." she said, smashed the sword into the stone then the stone wall depicted some sort of writing. "Our fate is now in your hands Sir Sonic."

Meanwhile Nimue was watching a map with the barrier up and the Dark Hollow spreading.

"Oh no! The barrier is too weak." she said.

Back with Sonic.

"Now's the time." Sonic said.

"Indeed." Caliburn said.

"Here we go!" she said and ran toward the Hollow.

Inside Merlina, the Dark Queen was sitting on a throne.

"I've been expecting you." she said.

"Just one question before we settle this. Why'd you do it? Weren't we trying to save this kingdom from the Underworld?" Sonic asked.

"This kingdom will fail one way or another. Such is its fate."

"Huh?"

"Do you know what is to become of this kingdom?"

"Beats me." he said and she started to walk forward.

"Lancelot and Gawain's rift shall doom the Round Table. Arthur is struck down by his son Mordred and departs for Avalon."

"Hmmm."

"This was to be our ideal world, but it will not last. King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table will end in ruin. The King Arthur my grandfather Merlin created led to nothing but mistakes, but I can succeed with the power of the scabbard, creating a kingdom that never ends." Merlina said and used a small portal to summon a flower.

"What good is a world that goes on forever!?"

"My sorrow and its ruin runs deeper than the depths of the Underworld. Do you not understand?"

"No, and I don't want to!" Sonic said and charged at Merlina but she used a force field to repel her. "Ugh!"

"Your efforts are futile." Merlina said and Sonic charged again but with a series of rapid slashed and was repelled once again.

"No way." Sonic said as a dark creature with many tentacles formed behind her.

"Sonic!" Caliburn said and her hand and guarded her.

"Caliburn."

"Fool! A knight but always be on his guard!" he said and Merlina's creature slashed him in half.

"Noo!" she said and charged at Merlina but was hit back.

"It is time to end this." Merlina said and Sonic screamed and was rapidly thrashed by the creature.

Meanwhile Nimue, Percival, Lancelot, and Gawain were watching form a portal above.

"Sir Sonic, you've done enough." Percival said but Sonic got back up.

"No Sonic! There is no point in continuing." Lancelot said.

"A knight... never... flees... her foe, right?" Sonic said and was hit one again.

'And a princess doesn't stop protecting her kingdom.' she thought.

"You fool! This no longer has anything to do with chivalry. Get out of there! Run!" Gawain said.

"It was never about chivalry for me. I've just got to do what I've got to do."

"Sonic!" Lancelot, Gawain and Percival said and a golden light appeared from the portal.

"The long lost light of the scared sword. Quick! Your swords!" Nimue said.

Then the three scared swords were tossed in the light and it traveled to Sonic.

After that Sonic gained a golden armor and a red cape. Caliburn was reborn and transforms.

"Woah!" Sonic said.

"That's the greatest of the sacred swords, Excalibur." Nimue said.

"Ha! Let's do this!" Sonic said and charged toward.

After the fight.

"Merlina... every world has its end. I know that's kinda sad, but that's why we've got to live life to its fullest in the time we have." Sonic said and gave her a flower. "At least that's what I figure."

"Grandfather..." Merlina said holding the flower close as Caliburn, Nimue, Percival, Gawain, and Lancelot got closer.

"Well done Sir Sonic." Percival said.

"Thanks to you guys." Sonic said.

"You can say that again." Caliburn said.

"To think King Arthur was but an illusion." Gawain said.

"The Knights of the Round Table must now disband." Lancelot said.

"What foolishness is this?" Caliburn asked.

"I'll say." Nimue said.

"Hmmm, what are you saying then?" Percival asked.

"Have you forgotten who I am? I am the sacred sword Caliburn. I am who decides who is worthy of the crown. So then..." Caliburn said and Lancelot, Gawain and Percival stared shockingly at Sonic while Nimue smiled at him.

"YOU?" Gawain said.

"You are the one and true King Arthur!?" Lancelot, Gawain and Percival said.

"Who, me?" Sonic said and all three bowed down to her. "Huh? Hey cut that out!"

At Eggmanland Modern Eggman crashed to the ground in front of the wreckage of the Egg Dragoon.

"Sonic!" Modern Tails said.

Classic Tails flew down holding Classic Sonic, and Modern Tails flew down with them. They landed next to Modern Sonic and Modern Eggman sat up.

"Ooooh... I can't believe this! I was supposed to beat you this time." Modern Eggman said.

"Aw, I'm sorry! I didn't get that memo. I beat you every time!" Modern Sonic said and turned to Classic Sonic. "No, seriously, we beat this guy every time. It's like it's our job or something!" she said and Classic made laughing movements.

"What's Eggman even doing here? I thought you said he'd been kidnapped by that big weird thing that sent us all to this place!" Modern Tails said.

Then the Time Eater suddenly appeared, picked up Modern Eggman and disappeared again.

"See? He was kidnapped. This is getting stranger all the time." Classic Tails said.

Later at Lair of the Time Eater the Time Eater floated, as both Sonics and both Tails ran or flew up to it.

"Okay, whatever you are. If you want to avoid an embarrassing beat down, you'd better give up now!" Modern Sonic said.

Then one of the spheres on the Time Eater opened, revealing Modern Eggman.

"You're not in a position to demand anything, you nasty little pincushion!" Modern Eggman said.

"Eggman! But, how?" Modern Tails asked and another sphere opened, revealing Classic Eggman.

"He had a little help." Classic Eggman said.

"Dr. Robotnik!" Classic Tails said.

"Nobody calls me that anymore. If you would be so kind as to explain, gentleman genius Dr. Eggman From The Future."

"It will be my pleasure, most excellent and efficacious Dr. Eggman from the Past." Modern Eggman said.

In a flashback Orbot and Cubot were pushing the Egg Mobile through space, with Eggman inside. They found the Time Eater, which Eggman scanned. Impressed with what he had found, Eggman flew towards the Time Eater.

"After my most recent setback, I stumbled upon the primordial form of this unique creation. Which I discovered had amazing abilities even I have never been able to master. It could erase time and space! I then had the brilliant idea to use my discovery to undo my previous defeats!" Modern Eggman said and the flashback ended.

"In order to perfect it, I needed the help of someone as smart as I am. The only person that smart... is me!"

"Oh, you are too kind, my dear future self! And I was happy to help." Classic Eggman said.

"I captured your friends, flinging them through time to bait my traps."

"But the more your monster tears through time, the more damage you do to the world!" Modern Tails said.

"The world? I'm going to own the world when I'm finished with Sonic!" Modern Eggman said and burst into maniacal laughter, which was interrupted by coughing and clearing his throat, then more laughter.

"Wow. Will I really get that crazy?" Classic Eggman asked.

"Heheh. We'll see who's crazy after I destroy both Sonics... forever!"

"You mean after we destroy them."

"Less arguing. More destroying."

"Destroy me? You and what mustache? I beat you all the time by myself, and now there's two of me!" Modern Sonic said and Classic Sonic back flipped.

"Then I'll have twice as much fun defeating you!"

Then the cockpits resealed themselves, and the Time Eater started blasting at the Sonics, who split up and ran in different directions.

"Keep moving!" Modern Sonic said.

"Move all you want! I'm still going to stomp you into a blue jelly." Modern Eggman said.

One of the Time Eater's arms disappeared into a Time Hole. Both Sonics jumped and tried to attack the Time Eater, but got knocked away. Before they could recover, the disappeared arm reappeared and smashed them into the ground.

"That was just to soften you up. Now it's time to meet your doom." Modern Eggman said and the Time Eater got ready to strike.

"You can do it, Sonic!" Amy said.

"Come on, Sonic. Smack him!" Knuckles said.

'You've fought plenty of people and learned so much from me, Shadow, Silver and all those people from the Resistance. You can do this.' he thought.

"Ugh. not you!" Modern Eggman said.

Shadow was standing and looking as Rouge flew down next to him.

"You got this, Sonic!" Shadow said.

"You can win, Sonic!" Rouge said.

"Who are they?!" Classic Eggman asked.

"They are insignificant!" Modern Eggman said.

Then Vector and Espio ran up and Charmy flew in.

"You got the power, Sonic!" Vector said.

"Focus your spirit!" Espio said.

"We're with you guys!" Charmy said.

Cream and Cheese were looking on while Blaze ran up and Silver flew in.

"I believe in you, Sonic!" Cream said.

"Don't give in, Sonic!" Blaze said.

"I know you can do it, Sonic!" Silver said.

"You can win, Sonic!" Classic Tails said.

"You always do!" Modern Tails said.

The Chaos Emeralds suddenly appeared, swirl around both Classic and Modern Sonic, and lift them into the air. Regaining consciousness, Modern clenched his fist as the Emeralds power him up.

"Time to scramble some Eggmen, SUPER SONIC STYLE!" Modern said and they transformed into their Super, then flew towards the Time Eater.

In Modern Sonic's meadow Sonic's chili dog dropped from the sky and into his hand. Sonic then smelled it and took another bite out of it.

"Still warm." she said, laughed, threw the chili dog into the air and caught it. "Time travel!" she said and Classic ran up to her.

Suddenly, a mysterious sound was heard and they looked as all their friends appeared. Everyone cheered in relief at their victory.

"I'll admit. You weren't half bad Sonic." Knuckles sad.

"Half bad? Are you kidding?" Amy said flabbergasted. "She was all great!" she said and smacked him into a tree.

Knuckles was stunned.

Then Classic and Modern Tails walked up to the party while talking to each other.

"She collects how many? Wow, where does somebody put all those gold rings?" Classic Tails asked.

"You know what? I don't know. I keep forgetting to ask." Modern Tails said.

Later Espio talked with Vector and Charmy, Knuckles talked with Rouge, Silver, Blaze, and Shadow talked with each other, and Amy, Cream, and Cheese talked to both Modern and Classic Tails, while Modern Sonic talked with his past self.

"It was great teaming up with you. Hope you learned a few tricks that will help you out in the future. I mean the past. You know what I mean." Modern said and Classic nodded and pointed at herself pompously.

Then she ran and jumped, trying to do an Air Boost, but only for a split second. She stood in mid air and then fell down, landing on her head.

"Dude, sweet! And you're only going to get better." Modern said and Classic ran up to her while she talked, and then Modern and Classic Tails walked up.

"There's our ride!" Classic Tails said and a Time Hole was seen leading to Green Hill.

Classic and Modern Sonic and Tails high five and ten each other. Classic Sonic and Tails ran to the portal. Amy, Knuckles, Shadow, Rouge, Cream and Cheese, Blaze, and Silver looked watched while Espio, Vector, Charmy and Knuckles waved goodbye, followed by Cream and Cheese, Amy, Rouge, Blaze and Silver while Shadow just looked.

"Hey Sonic! Enjoy your future. It's gonna be great!" Modern Sonic said.

Classic Sonic gave a thumbs up as she and Classic Tails jumped into the portal and it disappeared, as Modern Tails and the rest still waved, while Sonic just looked on.

At Death Egg Sonic sat in a cell, her hands and feet restrained by light cuffs, as Zavok opened the door to escort her to her execution.

"This is the end, Sonic." Zavok said.

"Oh hey, sounds like the party's started. Want to let me go and join in? No? Of course not, you hate fun." Sonic said sarcastically when the power went out shortly before recovering as the alarm rang, surprising her and before her cuffs came off, freeing her. "Oh, wow. The end, huh? Let's see you try something now that I'm free."

"Foolish hedgehog. Getting out of your chains does not make you free. Now come and face the inevitable."

"The only thing inevitable here is my foot kicking your butt." she said, ran out of her cell and he charged forward and she dodged before chasing after him.

After successfully being defeated by Sonic, Zavok struggled to catch his breath before he collapsed to the ground unconscious and his body suddenly disappeared before Sonic's eyes.

"It's that sound again?" Sonic said then some minor shaking occurred, nearly knocking him off balance. "Whoa! It's not time for thinking. It's time for running!" she said, started running and leapt off the platform she fought Zavok on.

Meanwhile the Avatar was ambushed by three Egg Pawns that corner them on the side of the catwalk leading to the shuttle launch bay. Before they had a chance to attack the frightened Avatar, Sonic arrived and easily destroyed them, saving him.

Then Sonic landed in front of Avatar.

"Easy there! Everything's cool." Sonic said and helped Avatar up. "Are you here to rescue me?" she asked and Avatar nodded. "Can't tell you how much I appreciate it. It's been a while since I've seen a friendly face."

"Hey rookie, you still in one piece?" Knuckles asked over radio.

"Oh, sure, don't even bother to ask how I am." Sonic said sarcastically.

"Sonic! I'm so glad!" Amy said over the radio.

"Amy?" Sonic said shocked.

"Hold up, Amy. We're all happy Sonic is alive! But she won't be for long if she doesn't get off that egg in a hurry." Knuckles said over radio.

"Is there an exit around here?" she asked the Avatar, over what Knuckles was saying on the radio and Avatar pointed to a nearby Eggman Fleet shuttle preparing to depart the Death Egg's hangar on a turntable. "Your concern is touching, Knuckles." she said and ran on ahead as the Avatar reached out after her with a surprised gasp before running after her.

Then they board the stolen shuttle and escaped the Death Egg.

Later Sonic, Silver, Knuckles, Vector and Charmy were outside Egg Gate.

"Sonic, finding you alive is the best news we've had in months! And here's the bad news. Our intel indicates that Eggman's got a weapons factory in Green Hill, pumping out munitions for his war effort." Knuckles said.

"A factory? We can't take out Eggman's home base in Metropolis if he's got a factory supplying him." Silver said upset.

"No kidding. Look Sonic, I know you just got back but we're spread thin. Can you take care of this? We need that factory in Green Hill destroyed. Take the rookie with you."

"You sure about this? The kid was shaking like a leaf the whole time we were at the Death Egg." Vector said upset.

"That's because it's cold in space! The factory is nice and warm!" Charmy said happily.

"It will be when it's burnt to the ground! Sonic, you take the lead! Rookie, just make sure you take good notes." Knuckles said happily.

"I've got six months of payback I'm just dying to spend. This sounds like a good start!" Sonic said happily.

Later Sonic, Silver and Amy were at Arsenal Pyramid.

"Something is attacking inside the Mystic Jungle! Silver is fighting him... or it, or whatever. Just hurry!" Amy said upset.

"Guys! It's him!" Silver said upset.

"I'm looking forward to a second round with this guy!" Sonic said happily.

Later that night Sonic and Silver were at Mystic Jungle with Infinite.

"This wasn't part of my agenda, but I'm always happy to crush a hero. It keeps the rabble in line. Shows them that there is no hope." Infinite said.

"Does anyone but you believe your lies?" Silver asked.

Then they flew about, clashing with each other. In the process, Infinite dropped a Phantom Ruby prototype and eventually knocked Silver against the wall above Eggman's lab and Silver fell to the ground, weakened.

"Seeing is believing." Infinite said and flew at Silver to deliver the finishing blow, but was knocked away by Sonic just in time.

Then Sonic landed in front of Silver.

"Time to tag out, Silver! I've got it from here!" Sonic said.

"Well, look who's back from the dead. The little blue savior. But what's that I smell? You reek of fear. Glad to see I left an impression." Infinite said and Sonic sniffed her own armpit.

"That's not fear. I ran all the way over here. And you haven't left an impression. I don't know anything about you! Not even your name."

"You may call me "Infinite" in the brief moments that remain to you."

"Great! See, Infinite, now we're getting to know each other! So, what's your favorite color? Do you like long, romantic walks on the beach? What's the source of your power? You can skip the first two questions if you like."

"The source of my power is none of your concern."

"Sorry, but you've just GOT to share the secret of your power with me. I insist!" she said and ran towards him.

"Your insistence is futile!" he said and unleashed a wave negating gravity, causing them to stumble around in weightlessness.

"Sonic, you OK?" Silver asked as Sonic floated around, unable to answer him, until Infinite flew into her and took her with him into the distance, as she yelled in pain from the impact.

"Well. You've improved since the last time. But you will still lose." Infinite said and unleashed a shockwave making Sonic wobble.

Then he threw two energy spheres at her, the second of which knocked her to the ground.

"As I predicted. You're not even worth the effort to finish off." Infinite said and flew away and Sonic got up.

"Rrrrrgh! I gotta figure out the secret of his power." Sonic said.

At Green Hill.

"I failed Sonic. Well, I mean this world's Sonic... and Eggman's monster got her." Tails said sad. "But you're here now. It's like the world needs a Sonic... any Sonic, to keep things in balance." he said happy. "If we defeat Eggman, this war will be over. And if we can figure out the secret to his power, maybe we can get you home. Hey, the sensor is picking up Eggman! Let's hurry!" he said upset.

Later Tails and Classic Sonic hid behind a rock while Infinite held up a Phantom Ruby prototype.

"And with that, the disposal of the Phantom Ruby prototypes is complete." Infinite said and crushed the Phantom Ruby prototype with his hand.

"It was a defective model. It could only record the DNA of the one that triggered it." Eggman said.

"Only a being with my strength of will could ever activate it."

"It doesn't matter now, with the lab locked down in Mystic Jungle. Which reminds me, didn't you run into Sonic there after she escaped?"

"Yes, but she was powerless against me. There is no need for concern."

"You let the hedgehog LIVE? That is a great source of concern."

"For you, perhaps. She has beaten you for decades, yet I defeated her in our first encounter."

As he heard this, Eggman's face scowled in fury at Infinite.

"Phantom Ruby prototypes? And Sonic... is alive?" Tails said and Infinite turned his head toward him and Classic Sonic, who hid before he saw them.

"What is it?" Eggman asked.

"...nothing. We move forward with the plan?" Infinite said.

"Of course! When it's complete, the resistance will be erased. The world will be nothing but ashes, from which a glorious Eggman Empire will rise!"

"And the resistance will yield to the Phantom Ruby's power. All will submit." Infinite said and Eggman let off a low growl of agreement before Infinite flew away.

Then Classic Sonic stood up and revealed herself to Eggman, despite Tails trying to stop her.

"What!? You!" Eggman said and Classic hit the Egg Mobile before he had a chance to react, rocking it hard enough to send him reeling slightly before he quickly recovers. "I don't have time for this." he said then closed the glass dome over his cockpit, deployed the engines, flew away in the Egg Mobile and Classic followed him.

After the fight Eggman was trying to escape in his Egg Mobile as flames licked off the back of it, but soon crash-landed, digging a good trench into the Green Hill footpath as the Egg Mobile scrapped to a halt. Eggman was heard grunting and groaning as he crashed and slid to a stop.

"Yeah! We did it!" Tails said.

"Hohohoho. Look at you fighting like you've got a chance to win. It's adorable." Eggman said and the Egg Mobile shifted suddenly, momentarily interrupting him as he recovered from it. "Almost makes me feel bad that we're never going to do this little dance again. In just three short days, my plan will eliminate the bothersome lot of you!"

"Wait. Three days? And what "plan"?"

"If I told you it wouldn't be a surprise!" Eggman said and reboot the Egg Mobile. "You know what they say, the anticipation of the end is worse than the end itself. Maybe not in this case though. Mwa-hahaha!" he said and flew away in the Egg Mobile.

At Park Avenue.

"Eggman's army has broken through! They're in the city! We need to get these people out of here!" Amy said upset.

"Who can we send? Sonic and Silver need time to heal." Knuckles said upset.

"We've engaged enemy forces at Seaside Hill. We can't spare anyone!" Espio said upset.

"This is the 8th Unit! We're pinned down under heavy enemy fire!" Soldier said upset.

"Man, looks like I've got no choice. Okay, rookie, I've got a tough one for you. I need you to head back to the city and save those civilians!" Knuckles said.

Later.

"That was impressive, but we still have a lot to do!" Knuckles said happy.

"Great job! I knew you could do it if you believed in yourself!" Sonic said happy.

"Nice moves, but if you hog all the glory, how am I going to look good?" Vector asked happy.

At Casino Forest.

"I can't believe it! Sonic's alive! I think I used up all my wishes for the rest of my life, but it's worth it! Come on, we have to go find her and tell her about Eggman's plan. Whatever his plan is. Eggman said something about Sonic being in Mystic Jungle." Tails said happy.

At Aqua Road.

"The system is picking up a couple of strange readings. They're coming from the laboratory, the one where Sonic fought Infinite." Rouge said.

"It's probably another of Eggman's robots." Silver said.

"Life readings, two of them. Definitely not robots."

"Hey rookie, go to the lab and check it out!" Knuckles said upset.

Sure enough Avatar was outside the lab then opened it to see Infinite's lost Phantom Ruby prototype he dropped during his earlier fight with Silver outside the lab and picked it up. It glowed for a moment in their hand, amazing them, before going silent again. Shortly afterward, Classic Sonic and Tails arrived at the lab and meet up with the Avatar.

"Have we met before?" Tails asked.

Later all three entered the Resistance base and Tails flew to Sonic and gave her a hug happy to see her again.

"SONIC!" Tails said.

"Tails!" Sonic said.

"I was sooo worried. I thought you were..."

"You worry too much. Look, I'm perfectly fine." she said and turned to Classic Sonic. "Ah, it's been generations since I've seen you. You okay?" she asked and Classic gave her a thumbs up and a smile.

"The good news is you're safe. The bad news is Eggman said he has some plan that would destroy us all in three days!"

"Three days, huh? A lot can happen in that time."

Later at Sunset Heights.

"Eggman said when the plan is completed, we'll all be wiped out!" Tails said.

"I don't like the sound of that. Normally I'd just laugh at an Eggman plan, but he's already conquered most of the world so... What's this plan of his?" Knuckles said upset.

"Hey, I hate to butt in on your important meeting, but we're under attack! Shadow is tearing through our troops! We need reinforcements!" Vector said upset.

"Shadow... The last time I saw him he was fighting for Eggman." Sonic said upset and playing with one of the limiters she still had on.

"That doesn't make sense. Why would Shadow help the enemy?" Knuckles asked.

"Perhaps he's being controlled by that strange power?" Silver said.

"Whatever it is, I'll figure it out!" Sonic said upset.

Later at sunset Sonic found Shadow in one of the streets.

"All right, Shadow! What's the deal?" Sonic asked but Shadow didn't answer and charged toward her and he raised his hands to her face in defense. "I won't hold back this time!" she said when Shadow leapt and prepared to deliver the first blow to him.

"Chaos control!" he said and the screen flashed white, causing the Shadow attacking Sonic to froze in time, and another Shadow appeared to roundhouse kick the attacking him away from her, defeating him as he was sent tumbling back up the street, landing face-down on the cobblestones out cold, time resuming the instant the real Shadow connected his attack with the fake while Sonic watched in confusion.

"Another Shadow!?" Sonic said and the fake Shadow disappeared. "He just disappeared."

"That was a fake." Shadow said.

"A fake? How?"

Later.

"Infinite can create virtual reality projections. They have mass and form, but no heart and soul." Shadow said.

"Virtual reality? So all those familiar faces that were a part of Eggman's army..." Sonic said upset.

"Replicas. The problem is, they may not be real, but their powers are as formidable as the originals. According to Rouge, Infinite can create unlimited numbers of them."

"So, fight after fight, he can just keep cranking up counterfeits?"

"Exactly. As it stands, there's no way we can win this." he said upset.

"Of course we can win this! We always do! We just haven't figured that part out, yet." she said happy.

Meanwhile at Capital City.

"Listen up! We just got word that Eggman's forces are undermanned at his headquarters in Metropolis!" Knuckles said happy.

"They're probably staging somewhere else as part of Eggman's plan. This could be our only chance to take the city." Espio said.

"Exactly! That's why we're focusing on a full frontal assault on Metropolis! I'm calling it, "Operation Big Wave"!"

"Who cares what it's called? What's important is to have a well thought out strategy." Silver said.

"I thought up this strategy in about a minute and a half. We're going in hard and fast and we're not going to stop till Eggman's army's destroyed. Sonic is busy fighting Shadow, but the rest of us can do this! We've got the strength and the spirit to win. There's no finer group that I'd want to fight with."

"Ha! Great speech! Let's give Eggman an old-fashioned beat down!" Vector said happy.

"They have more in sheer numbers, so the idea of a quick, focused attack isn't bad. We also have Sonic- I mean, the other Sonic- so I have no doubt we can do this! Also, if we can destroy the Phantom Ruby, we should be able to send the other Sonic home! At least I hope so... this is all new territory for me..." Tails said happy.

"Okay, let's head straight for Eggman's HQ! Time to save the world, people!" Knuckles said happy.

At Metropolis Infinite was overlooking the city.

"More ants to crush. I wonder if this world can offer me a real challenge." he said and Avatar walked by, only to notice him, causing them to freeze in fear as Infinite took notice of them. "And as if to answer, the world sends me a trembling child." he said and Avatar started to back away in fear, only for Infinite to warp up next to him, shocking the latter and paralyzing them in abject terror. "Are you going to fight and die here? Or, run away in fear again?" he said and the Avatar backed away from him uneasily, completely scared out of their mind, but then started remembering Sonic's words.

"Hey, don't be scared! This is your moment to shine!" Sonic said and Avatar clenched their fist. "Keep going. Don't let your fear own you!" she said and Avatar looked on their face with renewed confidence and a determined, stepped up to Infinite and raised their fist against him, as if to say.

"Fine. I will teach you fear, then pain, and then... well, at least the fear and pain will end." Infinite said and threw three energy spheres at Avatar, but Avatar dodged them.

In the process, the Avatar dropped their Phantom Ruby prototype then glared angrily up at Infinite.

"I remember you. You ran from me before." Infinite said and the Avatar picked up the Phantom Ruby prototype, never losing their glare towards him. "You survived then, but you throw it all away now. Curious." he said and manifested several cannons aimed at the Avatar. "This will be good-bye." he said and the cannons fired at the Avatar.

The Avatar shield their face and braced for the impact and explosion, but the Avatar's Phantom Ruby prototype glinted however, causing the projectiles to pass through the Avatar and exploded harmlessly, having temporarily reversed the virtual reality for a split-second. The Avatar took notice of what happened before scowling at Infinite again as Infinite was stunned by what just happened himself.

"What!? How is this possible? It can't be... How did you?" he asked and fired the cannons again.

The Avatar jumped out of the way of the projectiles this time, but Infinite flew up to them and released an energy burst into their torso at point-blank range. The Avatar landed down on the ground on their chest in defeat. They can only attempt to look up at Infinite weakly as Infinite spoke, restoring things back to normal reality.

"No matter. They have only two days left. Let them contemplate the inevitable until I end this once and for all." he said and flew away, leaving the Avatar to watch him depart with a weakened look on their face.

At Chemical Plant.

"Things were going well with Operation Big Wave, but then everything fizzled out when that Phantom Ruby kicked in." Knuckles said annoyed.

"That fake Shadow was created using the Phantom Ruby's power, right? Even if it's a virtual reality projection, it's as strong as the real Shadow." Silver said upset.

"Rouge, have you found the intel I was looking for?" Shadow asked.

"No, not yet. But I have reports that Eggman's database is located at the Chemical Plant. If we can check that out, we might find something there." Rouge said upset.

"That sounds like a promising lead. We have to figure out the secret behind Infinite's power and virtual reality. Tails, can you handle this?" Sonic asked.

"Got it. I'll take Sonic-I mean, the other Sonic- with me and head to the Chemical Plant!" Tails said happy.

Later.

"Phew, so this is where the database is. Hold on a sec, while I access the data from this computer... Okay... failed battle plans... old robot designs... wow, he's got like ten terabytes of selfies... so where does he keep the-" Tails said. "Found it! Virtual Reality weapon. The Phantom Ruby. A weapon that takes control of people's visual and depth perception to feed false information to the brain, creating a new reality for them!" he said happily. "Like a dream so real, if you bump yourself in it, your sleeping self will bruise? It's hard to believe. Eggman experimented with lots of prototypes, and then incorporated the final version into Infinite. If I'm reading this data correctly, then there might be a weakness. This is huge! Let's get this information back to the others!" he said upset.

At Red Gate Bridge.

"I don't like sitting on the bench, but there's nothing to do till Tails gets back." Knuckles said annoyed.

"Way to jinx it! Metal Sonic has been spotted in the city!" Amy said.

"Is it another fake?" Shadow asked upset.

"Why would they bother making a fake out of something that already isn't real? Couldn't they just build more?" Sonic asked. "Either way, it's getting wrecked! Let's go, partner!" she said upset.

Later it was sunset and Sonic walked up besides the Avatar, who was panting heavily following their fight with the Metal Sonic replica.

"Hey! That was great! We were like a well-oiled machine... fighting a well-oiled machine." Sonic said and raised her fist at the Avatar.

The puzzled Avatar looked at her, who gave an approving nod. The Avatar smiled and chuckled, and proceeded to fist bump with her.

Later at Green Hill at Guardian Rock.

"I got it, Sonic! I figured out a way to stop Eggman's Phantom Ruby!" Tails said happy.

"Great work, Tails!" Sonic said happy.

"Based on these readings, the Phantom Ruby requires an incredible amount of energy, which only the Death Egg can provide. We simply stop the energy transfer, and boom, the Phantom Ruby is practically useless."

"Simply? Last I checked the Death Egg is a heavily fortified... well, Death Egg." Knuckles said upset.

"True. But I came up with a plan. First, we distract Eggman. While he's not paying attention, we use the Chemical Plant computer to hack into the Death Egg's weapons systems and shut it down. With no weapons, destroying the Death Egg will be a piece of cake. No Death Egg, means the Phantom Ruby is nearly useless."

"Well, you know, it's just crazy enough to work. So first we need a distraction. I'm on it!" Knuckles said happy.

"No way, Knuckles. You're too easily distracted. That's not a good trait for a distraction. Plus, you're our commander! We kinda need you here." Amy said upset.

"How about the rookie? Eggman would never expect it. It may even throw him off a little." Silver said happy.

"Good idea! You got your orders, rookie. We only have one more day before Eggman's plan is executed, so let's hustle!" Knuckles said happy.

Later at Chemical Plant Network Terminal.

"I'm almost at the Chemical Plant. How's the rookie doing with the distraction?" Sonic asked.

"So far so good. We might have to stop using the nickname "rookie" if the kid keeps this up." Knuckles said happy.

"Next, we've got to get to the computers at the Chemical Plant and shut down the Death Egg's weapons system." Tails said.

"Perfect. I've been waiting for my turn to bust some heads!" Sonic said happy.

At Death Egg.

"The Death Egg's weapon systems are down! Now is your chance! Move!" Rouge said happy.

"Hurry! Just destroy the Death Egg and cut off the power supply!" Tails said happy.

"You're making it sound like a walk in the park. This is the Death Egg!" Vector said upset.

"Don't sweat it. The other Sonic has this under control."

In Space the Death Egg was suffering numerous explosions around its hull before it was destroyed in a single large explosion.

At the Resistance HQ everyone cheered as they saw the Death Egg destroyed.

"They did it! The Phantom Ruby's power should be down to almost nothing!" Amy said.

At Green Hill Eggman, Orbot, and Infinite watched the Death Egg's demise on the screen provided by Cubot. Eggman was livid over losing the Death Egg again.

"Grr, those resistance pests and their clever little plots. They're like something on your shoe that you can't wipe off." Eggman said.

"It appears they have taken our legs right out from under us. Quite impressive, really." Orbot said.

"I don't have legs. Neither do you, dude." Cubot said.

"Don't remind me, dude!"

"Five more hours before the plan is executed. Infinite, let's make a tactical retreat so that we can re-mobilize our forces." Eggman said.

"And by "tactical retreat" you mean to say, "flee with our tails between our legs." I'm quite displeased about this, Doctor." Infinite said and Eggman wasn't amused by his sarcasm about his next move.

"Shut up and just follow me." Eggman said and roared off in the Egg Mobile as Orbot, Cubot, and Infinite flew after him.

At Metropolitan Highway.

"Mission accomplished. The Phantom Ruby's signal has gotten much weaker." Rouge said happy.

"This should effectively put a stop to the doctor's greatest weapon." Shadow said happy.

"The Sonics have made an opening for us. We can't just let that go to waste." Vector said happy.

"This is the moment we've been waiting for. Time to settle the score!" Silver said happy.

"Now that the Phantom Ruby is out of the way, we can finally smash Eggman into an omelet!" Knuckles said happy.

"Hey, don't count your chickens before you smash your eggs!" Rouge said.

"Rouge is right. The fact that Eggman and Infinite are still around means we can't let our guard down." Sonic said.

"I just want everyone to get home safely, okay?" Amy said sad.

"All right, fine. Everyone get your game face on! The target is Eggman at the Central Tower!" Knuckles said happy.

Later at Metropolis Sonic confronted Eggman, along with Orbot and Cubot, on one of the rooftops.

"Welcome, Sonic. Glad you could make it to your funeral! Infinite, do it." Eggman said.

"Take this!" Infinite said and created a portal.

"What is that?" Sonic asked.

"Har-har. That, my spiky little frenemy, is null space." Eggman said and Orbot and Cubot realized the severity of the situation and scampered away in the opposite direction in absolute fear.

"Null space?" Sonic said and signaled to Tails to go into hiding.

Tails complied, taking cover behind one of the nearby vents that provided ample shielding for him.

"It's a little something that the Phantom Ruby cooked up, a closed-off space where absolutely nothing exists! Good-bye, Sonic, my soon-to-be-eradicated nemesis. Enjoy all the nothing!" Eggman said and rocketed the Egg Mobile skyward as Infinite fired another shot before retreating backwards to safety.

The second shot enlarged the portal and activated a powerful suction vacuum in it, catching Sonic and Tails by surprise by the force of the pull. The portal started sucking everything in and Tails held onto the building piece he took cover behind while Sonic was losing her footing, unable to resist the pull from the portal. Just as she lost her footing completely and started to be pulled into the portal, the Avatar swung in and grabbed her, struggling to hold onto her for as long as they can.

"Buddy! Don't! You'll be sucked in too!" Sonic said and the Avatar's cable broke, and they got sucked into the portal and promptly closed.

Tails was in disbelief over what he just witnessed.

"But we destroyed the Phantom Ruby's power source." Tails said.

Then Eggman reappeared in his Egg Mobile to explain everything to him, who stared up at Eggman in total shock.

"Tsk, tsk. Since you ALWAYS destroy the power source of my weapons, I decided to learn from my mistakes. I had a back-up power source created under Metropolis." Eggman said.

Later Eggman, Orbot, Cubot, and Infinite were overlooking the Eggman Fleet. Orbot sighed in boredom. Sonic and the Avatar then arrived, having escaped null space. Orbot noticed the duo and started tapping Eggman's shoulder to get his attention.

"Excuse me? Boss." Orbot said and Eggman finally glanced over his shoulder and spotted Sonic and the Avatar out of the corner of his eye, causing him to wheel around to face them in absolute shock.

"What!? It can't be! It's impossible to get out of the Phantom Ruby's null space!" Eggman said and knocked Orbot away in disbelief.

Infinite looked at Sonic and the Avatar with an annoyed grunt.

"Maybe by myself, but I had a little help from my friend. Something you wouldn't understand, since you don't have any friends!" Sonic said.

"Grr... This changes nothing! Dr. Eggman will still have the last laugh!" Eggman said and flew away in the Egg Mobile.

Infinite followed while Orbot and Cubot straggled along, but only after Orbot noticed Cubot looking at Sonic and the Avatar, and whacked him upside the head to tell him to follow the others.

"Maybe he'd have more friends if he didn't talk about himself in the third person." Sonic said and the Avatar gave a thumbs up and he nodded in response to.

At Eggman Empire Fortress at Imperial Tower.

"We've got less than an hour before Eggman's plan goes down." Knuckles said.

"There's no more time. We have to break into the fortress now." Shadow said upset.

"Indeed, this is it- our last opportunity to bring peace back into the world." Silver said.

"But... when the battle ends, we'll have to part with Sonic- I mean, this Sonic- won't we?" Tails asked sad.

"Yes, if the Phantom Ruby is gone, I guess she'll be returned to her dimension." Amy said sad.

"Thank you for everything, Sonic. I'll never forget what you did for us."

"Save the sentiments for later. This is not over yet. We still have a battle to fight." Espio said.

"Exactly. This is our last chance. Give it everything you've got!" Knuckles said upset.

Later at the Eggman Empire Fortress the Resistance was facing the oncoming opposition from the Eggman Army. Knuckles and Sonic nodded at each other thinking about the last time they did this for Mobotropolis but with Sonia and Manic as Super Sonic Underground, and Knuckles turned around and raised his arm. A large group, possibly a battalion of Resistance infantry at least, stood behind him, Sonic and all their friends.

"Let's go!" Knuckles said and they charged forward, yelling and shouting, and started fighting their way through the army.

Gunfire flew everywhere as the Resistance troops unleashed various Wispon firepower on the approaching replicas. Knuckles knocked out a Zavok replica.

"Take this!" Knuckles said.

Meanwhile Shadow knocked out a number of replicas, Silver psycho-kinetically immobilized three replicas, which the Chaotix members knocked out shortly afterwards, Amy smashed a Metal Sonic replica Silver immobilized with her Piko Piko Hammer, and Rouge kicked out some more immobilized replicas. The Resistance charged forward, easily tearing through the replicas as they advanced. At the end of the first wave was Infinite, flying and looking onwards at the approaching rabble so Sonic rushed towards him quickly.

"Hey, Infinite! Long time no see! Did you miss me?" Sonic asked.

"Why yes, I did. I've been looking forward to finishing you and your annoying friends." Infinite said as she was joined by rest of her friends to confront him together. "I trust you're all ready for oblivion? If you're not... oh well." he said and unleashed a powerful wave of energy, knocking back the Resistance.

Suddenly he was shot at, and managed to deflect some of the shots. Omega dropped down from the air, appearing before everyone, fully repaired and operational.

"What!? Who dares!?" he asked.

"Target reconfirmed. Extermination mode initiated. Payback INEVITABLE." Omega said.

"Omega! You've joined us!? Awesome!" Rouge said.

"Is there no end to these annoying insects? I will burn your resistance to ashes, and you along with it!" Infinite said and with a furious shout, shot a beam up into the sky, creating a replica of the sun with his Phantom Ruby prototype, to everyone's shock and disbelief.

"Whoa, you've got to be kidding. That's just a special effect, right?" Knuckles said.

"No, it's not! While we're under the Phantom Ruby's control, it's a part of our reality!" Tails said.

"Unbelievable! What chance do we have against that?" Espio said as Eggman came by in his Egg Mobile.

"The sun will fall upon you all. BOOM! THE END! Your pathetic lives are over." Eggman said and grinned viciously then the Avatar overlooked the battlefield.

Then Tails flew in beside them. The Avatar's Phantom Ruby prototype started to react.

"Look. It's reacting. Eggman said something about the Phantom Ruby prototypes. Let me see." Tails said and the Avatar gave him the prototype getting it to stop reacting. "Whoa, it is." he said and gave it back. "He said that the Phantom Ruby prototypes only react to the person who has activated it. That must be you, buddy! Your courage and heroism are probably what triggered it. Just maybe, if you use this, it can make that sun disappear."

The Avatar looked downward at the prototype and then onward again towards the sun.

Meanwhile Infinite hovered above the Resistance menacingly thanks to the glow cast upon him by his virtual sun.

"Make peace with your fate, because your lives are now over!" Infinite said and the Avatar's Phantom Ruby prototype reacted again, and the Avatar tightened their grip on it as a look of fresh confidence scowls on their face as they made up their mind to stop Infinite.

Infinite flew away, while Eggman cackled madly as he prepared to watch Sonic's friends perish and seize ultimate victory.

"Mwa-hahaha! Three," Eggman said and The Avatar headed towards the sun. "two, one, zero!" he said and The Avatar dashed into the sun, prototype in hand.

Meanwhile Tails watched while flying.

"Buddy?" he said and The Resistance watched in breathless anticipation.

After several seconds, the sun was seen getting closer and closer, before it disappeared from the sky completely, with only a red beam falling from it. They cheered at having been saved from total annihilation.

"The sun! It's gone!" Knuckles said.

"Wh-What? What just happened!?" Eggman asked and saw the red beam falling from the sky and followed it to investigate what ruined his near victory.

Shadow smirked. The red beam was actually the Avatar with the Phantom Ruby prototype. Upon landing with their grappling hook, the prototype broke and dissolved, and the Avatar collapsed to the ground, visibly weakened from the effort. Eggman arrived in total flabbergasted disbelief when he discovered what happened.

Eggman pointed at the Avatar.

"Impossible! I thought all the prototypes were destroyed!" he said and Tails flew beside the Avatar to pick them up as the Avatar groaned weakly.

"A costly oversight, Doctor. That's why I always check and double check as any good scientist would." Tails said.

Back at the battlefield.

"This is the turning point, guys! Time to press our advantage and kick major butt!" Knuckles said and The Resistance forces cheer in agreement.

'We beat him once, we can do it again.' he thought.

At Eggman Empire Fortress Sonic was facing Infinite as the latter hovered in the air over the edge of a ramp before the Central Tower of the fortress.

"Pathetic little hedgehog. Even with the Phantom Ruby weakened, I still have enough power to smash you into blue jelly. I'll show you how outclassed you really are!" Infinite said.

"I'm in a class all my own. Time to put-up or shut up," Sonic said and pointed at him. "Infinite!" he said and ran up and leapt at him.

Infinite fully charged up his Phantom Ruby prototype back to full strength.

"You're done for, Sonic. The Phantom Ruby's energy is recharged." he said and performed a powerful energy wave. "Perish, along with your useless friends!"

Then the Avatar intervened in the battle, shooting out their grappling hook at Infinite who dodged and glared at the Avatar, who scowled right back.

"You!" he said and The Avatar landed beside Sonic and both train their angry glares at Infinite.

"My friends got me this far, and together we're gonna win!" Sonic said.

A few minutes later Infinite was in a glitch-like state on the ground before Sonic and the Avatar after having been dealt a powerful defeat by them.

"Impossible. I cannot be defeated." Infinite said.

"Wrong, loser! The things that can't be defeated are heart, soul, and the bonds of friendship. Three things you and your counterfeit cronies lack!" Sonic said and Infinite pounded his fist on the ground in frustration at her truth, before finding himself being lifted into the air against his will.

"No, wait! I can still fight!" he said and struggled to stand up.

After a couple more strained gasps as he continued to struggle against the force working against him, Then he faded away and his Phantom Ruby prototype was dragged off to an unknown location. Sonic and the Avatar looked at each other, puzzled, The Avatar shrugged in confusion before they turned their attention forward as Eggman approached them in his Egg Mobile.

"You never fail to surprise me, Sonic. I didn't believe Infinite could lose. Victory will be so much sweeter when I defeat you. Don't think this is over yet, you blue nuisance. My plan just went into overtime!" Eggman said.

Then Sonic and the Avatar landed on the ground after leaping out of the Central Tower following destroying the Phantom Ruby reactor. They waved to the incoming Tails and Classic Sonic.

"We did it! Eggman's army's is officially butt-kicked! We won!" Sonic said and tried to fist bump the Avatar, but they were interrupted by a small earthquake.

The Avatar quickly grits their teeth and scowls as they look around for the source of the interruption, unaware of a large, inhuman mech rising out of the crater behind them.

"Oh, come on! Now what? Can't we ever just win and have that be the end of it?"

"Look!" Tails said and Eggman emerged with a giant Death Egg Robot.

"Gotcha! The fortress reactor was just a decoy. A true winner always keeps his trump card hidden until the end." Eggman said.

"Sonic, what's going on? There aren't less enemies! There's MORE!" Vector said over the radio.

"What?" Tails said.

"How could there be so many?" Amy asked over the radio.

"Confirmed sightings indicate Shadow, Metal Sonic, Zavok, Chaos, Infinite... Thousands of them!" Rouge said over the radio.

"What have you done!?" Sonic asked and Classic Sonic gritted her teeth in anger.

"Mwa-hahaha! I merely incorporated the Phantom Ruby into this Death Egg Robot." Eggman said.

"But that means the Phantom Ruby no longer has a vulnerable energy supply. It's an invulnerable ruby?" Tails said.

"A good deduction, Tails. This Death Egg Robot has... No, I have surpassed Infinite to become the complete and ultimate form. You will be crushed by this Death Egg Robot powered by the Phantom Ruby," Eggman said and the Sonics and the Avatar got into battle stances. "and in the end everything will still be just as I planned!" he said and cackled maniacally and sent out a powerful energy wave at his adversaries, nearly knocking them off-balance.

Then Sonic stepped forward.

"Your plan will end like all your plans do: with you sitting in a pile of busted robot parts wondering how you failed so badly. Let's get him." she said and she, Classic and the Avatar charged at the Death Egg Robot.

As the shattered shard of the destroyed core of the Death Egg Robot rain down around the battlefield, the Eggman Army replicas started to disappear as the Resistance continued blasting away as many as they can. Soon, they were all gone, leaving the Resistance forces standing alone and victorious.

"All right! We won!" Knuckles said and they started celebrating. "I knew we'd do it!" he said and The Chaotix nodded in agreement.

"Piece of cake." Rouge said and Shadow looked back at her and smirked while Silver flew high into the air.

"Yeah!" Silver said and Amy gave him a thumbs up.

"We did it!" Amy said.

A dog Resistance trooper helped pick up a wolf Resistance trooper.

"Are you okay?" the male dog asked.

"Thanks. Woohoo. We did it!" the male wolf said.

"Alright!" the male bear said.

"Yes!" a female cat Resistance trooper said and the entire Resistance cheered for a job well done and ultimate victory over the Eggman Empire.

The core Resistance members were gathered, facing Classic Sonic who started to fade.

"I guess this is good-bye. Get home safely, Sonic," Tails said and they shook hands. "and thanks for everything!" he said and Classic gave him a thumbs up and a smile.

Then Classic looked at the others, who also bid her farewell. Before leaving, she extended her arm to fist bump Tails and faded away smiling and waving. Tails weakly tried to grab her before she left but was too late. Sonic walked up and put her hand on his shoulder. The Avatar joined them.

"Cheer up, Tails, I'm sure we'll run into her again." Sonic said and turned around to face the others. "Alright, guys! It's time we cleaned up the mess Eggman left this world in, and I'm not talking about those illusions he dreamed up for us! We need to fix the real world we all live in." she said and they nodded showing signs of agreement.

"True dat!" Tails said and The Avatar nodded.

"C'mon, let's go!" she said and The Resistance members cheered.

"Yeah!" they said.

Later the main Resistance members were at HQ sitting around, talking to each other and The Avatar watched for a while when Knuckles entered the room.

"Finally, an end to this endless battle. Everyone can go back home and relax. There's no need for the Resistance." Knuckles said and Silver hopped down from the crate he was sitting on.

"Hold on, there's still a lot we need to do. We're just getting started." Silver said, Knuckles nodded and The Avatar turned around to him and spoke their mind. "What? You're leaving us? There are others who need your help? But OK, I'm not gonna stop you."

"Man, the first time I saw you stumbling around, I had no idea you could pull this thing together and see it to the end." Vector said and patted the Avatar's back. "I've changed my mind about you." he said and The Avatar scratched their head in embarrassment and laughed a bit over Vector's remark.

"I knew you'd come through, rookie. Well, I guess you're not a rookie anymore!"

"You did good out there. It's not like you just waited till the last minute to come in and act all cool saving the day." Rouge said pushing him to the other side.

Realizing she was talking about him, Omega extended his hand outwards in her direction while she winked at him. Shadow, leaning against a few crates, raised his head slightly and grunted.

"Our battle is done and our resistance has come to a conclusion, but we'll be friends forever. A single person cannot restore the entire world. We have to work together and make a diligent effort!" Tails said and The Resistance nodded.

"Yeah!" they said in agreement.

Later Sonic was overlooking the City while the Avatar approached her and stood by her side, looking out at the sunset together.

"Hey, you're taking off, too? I was thinking the same thing. You gonna keep moving forward? No matter what, yeah? Heh, you and I aren't so different." Sonic said and the Avatar nodded in agreement. "See ya later, buddy!" she said and they grinned before fist bumping.

Then Sonic ran off while giving the Avatar a thumbs up. The Avatar waved back and set off in the other direction with their grappling hook, in search of another adventure.

Sonic didn't know what was next or she would ever get home, but she knew one thing.

She was going to stop Robotnik some day, somehow.

With the powers she had learned from Knuckles due to the Chaos Emeralds when she went to the Floating Island, what she gained after Shadow handed her his limiters that day with the ARK, the Chaos powers training she had been doing with Shadow and Silver to control them since the Mephilis problem and with Shadow and Silver the only people that can catch up to her and hold almost the same Chaos energy she had learned a lot as Oracle said she would.

She had made many friends, allies, rivals and civil over the years but she knew there were more to make. She knew there was more to learn. More to do. She just didn't know how long.
