Chapter 35: Winter Snow Mountain

/

Within Tokyo's reaches in the present, Aiden didn't much know a whole lot about what Raku's crew had gone through until it happened.

Jackie and Dick slapped to the floor and slipped out onto the floor of Aiden's apartment in San Francisco. He was working on getting into Photography and cinematography with his scholarship the previous semester.

Kori was so proud, how he'd just adjusted the lenses of his deep inner knowing to find what was his passion in life. He'd wished that too for Raku when they'd parted and Aiden had left to go back to the states. That was after Mir, after Constantine.

He'd stayed on and off with Lisa Viscado. No case they'd not end up living together. A digital frame was on the coffee table with his family, Raku and the spirits and his girlfriend or significant other.

Dick sighed as Jackie walked over to Aiden's bedroom door and opened it.

"Still up?"

"His midterm for the rest of the semester. He's been non – stop." Dick whispered as he saw how dark it was already.

"Should we…"

Dick frowned as Jackie crossed her arms at the adult. "John is going to need a gate. We only have Hakuro and one more. I need to see if she'll try to help us like before. Shoji told me, Ava has an ability to freeze phases and walls in between worlds. John could escape and get away before –

"Don't say it…that spider lady already got to Ami. I know she's not alright." Jackie was afraid that doing this in secret was a bad idea, period. "She won't be alone." Dick told the teen. "You have no choice. Your dad won't let you stick around while I'm in charge. I can't just break the rules because of how close you are –

"Yeah, you can. You're not just Nightwing. I got Erebus's blessings or now I do, and I'm studying on the side techno – magic in case I'm gonna have a shot at helping my bae. You know how I feel, I have to…I don't tell her I like her because if she gets an overblown head, she starts worrying if I'm gonna die the next time we fight."

"You….kept you distance. That's not exactly right, I think. Ami could understand if you told her."

"Well, I'm not such a baby about it. I lost my dad almost but we got him back, and you. My family almost got turned into Halloween monsters. I got into a contract with a god of shadows. You think I don't know about NASA? I'm gonna be in the dark, surrounded by next to just me. I'm gonna miss her to death, Uncle Richie. I'm gonna hate myself…."

"You don'thave to go on. She knows you know, I bet. Ami isn't as native as you might think. She's able to fool me too if I didn't think she could fight that demon by herself. She's not going to be alone. We have her back. Right now, we need the door and Hakuro offered an option just before we lost contact."

"Huh??" She jumped back as Dick pulled put a key; large and solver with engravings of an ancient land , the right way of the Norse.

~ My queen??~

May-bell the bluebell fairy fitted across the castle in a dress of dreams awakening to midsummer.

If her name rang any bells across those halls, it would be as a sitter, not a sister to the young queen of twenty-two. She would be having a birthday in just one more month. December was the birthday of all the Raven Winged. It was tradition. Anya Ava Marie Grayson Wulfsmund was….an awkward type. However the day dreamer she was these days, she was also as well an incredible warrior queen with a battle cry only to best a Valkyrie's.

She was in the throne room, sword in hand as her assistant and partner had his drawn up to strike. She evaded with her shortened locks waving before tipping her blade to his throat.

"Round over. Very good, Gustaf."

She bowed as he took a step back like some old schoolmate. May- bell gawked before clearing her voice to get the queen's attention.

~ A – hum! Your Majesty…? ~

The young squire blushed as Ava nodded that they resume training later. He was just a boy, still a spry fan being as she'd taken Chris's role to train an entire army. All by herself, and she was quite good at it too.

Chris was gone, yet his skill lived in her always. The fight never dying as it was renewed by each full moon's bow.

~ May – bell, you realize that I'd be in here. What is troubling you so?~ She'd learned to use the 'Speak' or form of spirit borne telepathy even better than her mother Reia, at times. May – bell recalled her mother saying such things. Their grace was unparalleled.

~ You've been summoned by that Ethereal one, Haku….I believe?~

Silver locks with streaks of lavender , light purple hid her confusion as May – Bell went on to add, ~ The trouble of your old home speaks in volumes, my queen. Your brother is still there? The chosen, and that sun – child, Amelia? Though she was small before. So noisy…he said of a daemon creating rifts and to secure our walls. Will you go to them and confer this?~

Ava housed her blade within its sheath. She paced in boots of a night and warrior ruler to this mountain land. The snow fall was delayed. Could a strange power be at work?

~ I will. I would like to speak to my brother. Is he reachable by traversal call?~

~ By the relic of Reia's, there should be not trouble with such alchemy. What of your way through any door, my queen?~

~ It is not. There was nothing tested to determine…~ She stopped, considering some options. ~ My life on another plane was cur short to be this one's protector. I've lived up to the task; the crown is upon my skull, yet it does not carry me. I carry this country as my mother before my kindred. Should I go to the earthen world to see my other….my family.~ She seeped in a breath to continue, ~ Then so mote it be. My desire is a calling to them. There is danger and I will not hesitate. Maey – bellis?~ Ava looked to the fae as she plopped over and nodded. ~ Yes, my queen!~

~ Kawra? The council there allowed her to stand in in my absence. I desire her aid and lady Tellervo as well.~

~ I shall send word to your allies, your highness!~ May bell nodded again, bobbing her head as Ava'sake smile was gentle yet sad to see herself away from this world. She'd come to recall it through Reia's memories. Even the parts that one would find simply unheard. Mountains where one could sing for miles. The great rivers gushing firth life every springtime. And of course, her Wolf clan of allies to the farther northland of the Borealis.

Lit by the dawn in the eyes if her allies, Ava took to a sword in hand and spoke the words of her clan. The door to her throne, the place where time dipped inwards, parted only for those of royal blood.

~ Be well. I shall not stay longer than is needed.~ Ava smiled one last time before finding her feet atop the first building out side of a bustling Metropolitan area. She was able to show her magic and swap dresses. Her own more professional as she let her long skirt and turtle neck sweater on this November night…

Wait.

She almost felt….watched?

Ava made no haste in her ability to finish as purely frost. There in the dark, a white spider swung back to its web. The web of its mother. Jorogumo.
