The first lights of dawn break over the horizon as isane finds herself alone in the camp, save for ghost padding silently by her side. The bustling energy of the previous night has given way to an eerie quiet, broken only by the occasional rustle of leaves in the morning breeze, "They're all gone now" isane whispers to ghost, her voice catching slightly. The direwolf nuzzles her hand, offering silent comfort and she absently strokes his fur to find solace in his presence. Isane moves through the camp with her footsteps heavy from worry but she pauses to look at the morning sky, "Oh Naruto... Please come back to me" she murmurs, her heart constricting. Ghost whines softly and senses her distress but isane kneels beside him, "I know boy.. I'm worried too.. But we have to be strong for them don't we" she whispers, burying her face in his fur.
"Come on Ghost.. We have work to do.. They're counting on us to be ready when they return" isane says, straightening up, a determined look settling on her face. Isane looks towards the horizon where her friends have departed, "Be safe all of you" she whispers to the wind. With ghost at her side does isane begins the task of preparing for their return but also the coming siege. Her movements are purposeful despite the worry gnawing at her heart. She knows that her role, though different from the others, is no less important and so, throws herself into her work with the healers and clinging to the hope of their safe return. The day unfolds in a flurry of activity as the army prepares to move out and begin the siege as isane ensures that supplies are safely packed and ready for use.
"Excuse me Lady Isane... I couldn't help but notice... Are you perhaps related to Zenith Kotetsu" a young healer says, approaching her while she's organizing a crate of medicinal herbs.
"Yes actually.. That's my mother.. Did you know her" isane says, looking up and her smile brightening her face despite her inner turmoil.
"I've only heard stories but they say she was one of the most skilled healers in the land.. It's an honor to work alongside her daughter" the healer says, his eyes widening with admiration.
"Thank you.. She taught me everything I know.. I only hope I can live up to her legacy" isane replies, her smile tinged with a hint of sadness. Another healer that is an older woman with graying hair decides to join the conversation, "If you're half as skilled as your mother.. We're in good hands.. Now.. Let's see about those bandages.. We'll need plenty for what's to come" she says warmly. Isane nods and is grateful for the distraction. As they work does she finds herself sharing stories about her mother, memories that bring both joy and a renewed sense of purpose. Ghost stays close with his presence a constant comfort.
"Your wolf seems very protective" the young healer observes, eyeing ghost with a mix of awe and wariness.
"He's been my faithful companion for some time now.. I don't know what I'd do without him.. Especially now" isane says, giving ghost a scratch behind his ear.
"It's not easy is it... Waiting while loved ones are in danger" the older healer says, giving her a knowing look. Isane's hands still for a moment, "No.. It's not.. But we all have our parts to play in this" she admits softly. As the day wears on does isane find strength in the camaraderie of her fellow healers and the tasks at hand. Though her thoughts often stray to naruto and the others, she channels her worry into preparation, determined to be ready for whatever challenges lie ahead. Night falls and the camp settles into an uneasy quiet. Isane retires to her tent with ghost padding silently behind her. She lies down on her bedroll and ghost curls up beside her, his warm presence a comfort in the darkness.
"Good night Ghost... I hope they're all safe out there" isane whispers, running her fingers through his fur. As sleep claims her does isane's mind drifts into a dream. She finds herself in a cozy farmhouse, sunlight streaming through lace curtains. Looking down, sees her hands are wrinkled with age and her silver hair in an intricate and long ponytail.
"Isane.. Are you coming" a familiar voice calls from outside. She steps onto the porch and sees an older naruto, his blond hair now streaked with gray, tending to a small vegetable garden. He looks up at her with his blue eyes still as bright as ever, crinkling at the corners as he smiles.
"There you are.. I was thinking we could have tea in the garden today.. What do you say" naruto says warmly. Isane feels a rush of emotions as her beloved is opposite her, "That sounds lovely" she replies, her voice wavering slightly. As they sit together under an old oak tree, teacups in hand as isane can't help but marvel at the life they've built together.
"Naruto.. Thank you for loving me all these years" isane says softly. Naruto reaches out and takes her hand with his touch as gentle as it was in their youth, "Loving you was easy Isane.. It's been the greatest joy of my life" he says, his voice filled with tenderness.
"Even after all we've been through" isane said, feeling tears prick at her eyes.
"Especially after all we've been through.. Every challenge.. Every hardship.. We faced them together.. And look at us now" naruto says with a chuckle, "We made it Isane.. And I wouldn't change a thing" he adds and gestures to the farm around them, to the life they've created. Isane leans her head on his shoulder, "Neither would I my love.. Neither would I" she muses, a sense of peace washing over her. The dream begins to fade and isane stirs in her sleep, a small smile on her face. Ghost lifts his head, watching over her protectively. Though the worry for naruto and their friends still lingers, the dream has given isane a glimmer of hope for the future and a future she's determined to fight for. The next day's rays of dawn filter through the tent's fabric, casting a soft glow on isane's sleeping form. Ghost is ever vigilant but notices the change in light and decides it's time to wake his companion. He moves closer to isane and begins gently licking her face. Isane's eyes flutter open and she is greeted by ghost's warm but wet tongue. She chuckles softly and the remnants of her dream still clinging to her consciousness.
"Good morning to you too Ghost.. Always making sure I don't oversleep aren't you" isane murmurs, reaching out to rub his head affectionately. Ghost lets out a soft whine in response and nuzzles into her hand. Isane sits up and stretches her arms above her head, "I had the most wonderful dream.. Naruto and I... We were old and living on a farm.. It was so peaceful" she tells ghost as her voice is tinged with a mix of joy and longing, "Do you think we'll ever have that Ghost.. A quiet life together" she adds, her gaze distant. Ghost tilts his head with his intelligent eyes seeming to understand her words and lets out a soft bark, as if to say of course you will.
"You're right.. We have to believe in that future.. But first.. We have work to do" isane says with a smile, drawing strength from her faithful companion's presence. A renewed sense of purpose washes over isane as she begins to pack up her bedding and as she rolls up her sleeping mat.
"I wonder how Naruto and the others are doing.. I hope they're safe.. They should be reaching AuBerst soon.. If they haven't already" isane muses, continues talking to ghost. Ghost pads over to her and carries one of her bags in his mouth, "Thank you boy.. You know.. I think I'll add some extra medical supplies to this.. Just in case" isane says, taking the bag from him and pauses while looking at the bag thoughtfully. Isane's mind wanders to the tasks ahead, "We'll need to start moving the camp today.. The siege will begin soon and we need to be ready to support the troops" she says, as she begins to seal away her belongings. Ghost lets out a low whine and senses the gravity in her words.
"I know Ghost.. It's going to be dangerous.. But we'll face it together.. Just like we always have" isane says, kneeling beside him and running her fingers through his fur.
"Come on Ghost.. Let's go see what the day brings.. Whatever happens.. We'll be ready" isane continues, standing up and a determined look in her eyes. With one last look around the tent, steps out into the morning light and ghost at her heels. The camp is already bustling with activity and isane takes a deep breath, steeling herself for the challenges ahead. She may not be on the front lines but her role is crucial and she's ready to face whatever comes her way. Isane makes her way through the camp, the aroma of freshly cooked food catches her attention. Her stomach growls, reminding her that she hasn't eaten since the previous evening. She decides to grab a quick meal before diving into her duties. Isane collects a bowl of steaming porridge and finds a spot to sit at the mess tent. Ghost settles at her feet, ever-watchful as she eats and overhears a conversation between two soldiers at the nearby table.
"Did you hear.. We're moving out in two hours" one soldier says, his voice low but excited.
"About time.. I'm itching to get to AuBerst and show those bastards what we're made of" his companion says, spooning up the last of his porridge. Isane's spoon pauses halfway to her mouth, "Two hours.. That's not much time to prepare" she thought, before quickly finishing her meal and stands, ready to return to her duties. She's about to leave as a young soldier approaches her hesitantly, "Excuse me.. I... I've never been in a real battle before.. Do you think... Will there be many casualties" he says, his voice nervous. Isane's expression softens and she places a comforting hand on the young man's shoulder, "War is never without cost.. But that's why we're here.. To heal and to save as many lives as we can.. Stay focused on your training and remember why we fight" she says gently.
"Thank you.. I'll do my best" the soldier says, looking somewhat reassured. As Isane walks away and ghost padding silently beside her, she can't help but feel the weight of responsibility on her shoulders. In two short hours, they'll be on the move, heading towards an uncertain future. But as she looks around at the busy camp, at the determined faces of soldiers and healers alike, she feels a surge of hope.
"Come on Ghost.. We've got work to do" isane says, her voice firm with resolve.
シーンブレイク
The opulent throne room of auBerst's royal castle sits king mordred upon his gilded throne, a gaunt man with stringy white hair that falls limply around his shoulders. His blue eyes are faded and cold, while sunken into his hollow cheeks. A heavy golden crown, adorned with precious gems, rests upon his head, seeming almost too large for his withered frame. Despite his frail appearance, there is an aura of menace that surrounds mordred. His thin lips are twisting into a cruel smile as he surveys the scene before him. Kneeling on the hard marble floor are the bound forms of aron canmore's wife and children. Lady Canmore's once-proud posture is now bent with grief and fear, trying to shield her young children with her body. Her elegant gown, now wrinkled and stained, speaks of days spent in confinement. Her eldest son is no more than twelve and glares defiantly at the king, his small fists clenched at his sides. The boy's eyes are so like his father's, burning with a mixture of fear and hatred. Beside him is his sister, barely eight, whimpers softly with her tear-stained face half-hidden in the folds of her mother's skirts.
"The Canmores have fallen far haven't they.. To think just last month they were hosting grand feasts" a portly lord with a red face leans in close to his companion while muttering. Around the edges of the throne room, a handful of courtiers and nobles stand in small clusters, their whispers creating a soft undercurrent of sound.
"Hush now.. Best not to speak ill of the unfortunate.. Who knows where the King's eye might fall next?!" his companion, a thin woman with a severe bun, replies quietly. Mordred's bony fingers taps a slow but ominous rhythm on the arm of his throne and he begins to speak, his voice is surprisingly strong but cutting through the tense silence like a knife.
"Your husband has failed me Lady Canmore.. Not only did he fail to take Fort Helmund but he had the audacity to die in the attempt" mordred says, each word dripping with disdain. Lady canmore's head snaps up as her eyes are wide with shock and grief, "My... My husband is dead" she whispers, her voice breaking.
"Indeed.. And a failure in death as he was in life.. Do you know what that makes him Lady Canmore?!" mordred says, his lips curling into a cruel smile.
"My father was a brave man!.. He died serving you!" the young son speaks up, his voice trembling with anger. Mordred's gaze snaps to the boy with disgust, "Silence whelp!.. Your father's incompetence makes him a traitor to the crown!" he snaps, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
"No Your Majesty.. Please!.. My husband was loyal to you until his last breath.. We have always been faithful servants to the crown" lady canmore says, a sharp gasp escaping her mouth.
"Loyal servants do not fail their King Lady Canmore.. Your husband's failure has cost us dearly" mordred says, now towering over the kneeling family after rising from his throne.
"Now the question remains... What am I to do with the family of a traitor" mordred said, his robes swishing against the polished floor as he paces before them. The young daughter bursts into tears, burying her face in her mother's skirts.
"Your Majesty... I beg you to show mercy.. We are innocent of any wrongdoing" lady canmore says, trying to comfort her daughter while pleading with the king. Mordred pauses with a calculating look in his eyes, "Mercy?!.. Perhaps.. But at what price I wonder?!.. What say you gentlemen.. How shall we deal with these... Unfortunate souls" he says and turns to his advisors, who stand silently at the side of the room. As the advisors begin to murmur among themselves, a movement at the edge of the throne room catches mordred's eye. He turns his gaze to three figures standing off to the side, their presence commanding yet somehow unobtrusive until now. Sofia and mitsurugi stand next to a man that towers over most in the room, their master Angron. Though dressed in a priest's robes, his muscular frame is impossible to disguise. His wiry, copper-red hair curls away from a high brow and pale eyes sit deep behind cheekbones that angle down like axe-strokes to an aquiline nose and a broad, thin-lipped mouth.
"My loyal advisor Angron.. What should be done about these traitors" mordred says, his lips curling into a cold smile as he addresses them and his voice dripping with malice. Angron steps forward with his massive frame casting a shadow over the kneeling family. His pale eyes sweep over lady canmore and her children, a predatory glint in their depths. His voice is a low rumble but like distant thunder when he speaks, "Perhaps the mother's head on the wall would suffice.. Or she could be made to be whipped through the streets naked" he suggests, his tone casual as if discussing the weather. Lady canmore lets out a choked sob, pulling her children closer to her. The young boy's face pales but he sets his jaw defiantly, while his sister whimpers in fear.
"Interesting proposals my friend.. Tell me more" mordred says, now back on his throne and clearly intrigued by angron's suggestions.
"The public humiliation would serve as a potent reminder of the price of failure.. Your Majesty... It would strike fear into the hearts of any who might consider betraying you" angron said, his thin lips twisting into a cruel smile. Sofia steps forward with platinum hair gleaming in the light, "If I may Your Majesty.. why choose between the two?!.. We could have both.. The mother's head on the wall and the children paraded through the streets" she says, her voice soft but filled with venom.
"It would send a powerful message Sire.. No one not even children are exempt from the consequences of treason" mitsurugi says, nodding in agreement with his twin. The young boy suddenly breaks free from his mother's grasp and lunges towards the king, "You monsters!" he shouts, tears streaming down his face. Guards quickly restrain the boy and force him back to his knees. Mordred rises from his throne and his eyes glitter with malice, "It seems the boy has his father's spirit.. Perhaps we should start with him.. To teach the mother the folly of defiance" he says, his voice cold.
"Please Your Majesty.. I beg you!.. They're just children.. Punish me if you must but spare them.. They're innocent!" lady canmore shouts, throwing herself forward and prostrating herself before the king.
"Innocent?!.. There is no such thing as innocence in the face of treason Lady Canmore.. Your husband's blood tainted you all" mordred says, contempt etched on his gaunt features. He pauses with his cold blue eyes sweeping over the terrified family. A cruel smile twists his thin lips as he comes to a decision, "Very well.. I have decided your fates" mordred announces, his voice ringing through the throne room. Lady canmore looks up, hope and fear warring in her eyes but the king's next words shatter any remnant of hope she might have harbored.
"Off with the boy's head.. Let his rebellion be silenced forever" mordred declares, pointing a bony finger at the defiant young son. The boy's eyes widen in terror and his earlier bravado crumbles "Mother!" he cries out, struggling against the guards who hold him.
"No!.. Please Your Majesty!.. I beg you!" lady canmore shouts, while letting out an anguished wail and reaching for her son.
"As for the mother and daughter.. They shall be whipped through the streets" mordred continuing his proclamation, while ignoring her pleas.
"An excellent decision Your Majesty.. But if I may suggest..." sofia said, a malicious glint in her eyes and the king nods while gesturing for her to continue.
"The mother should indeed be stripped naked.. Let her shame be visible to all" sofia proposes, her voice filled with cruel delight.
"Yes.. Yes!.. Brilliant my dear Sofia.. The mother shall be naked.. Her disgrace laid bare for all to see" mordred says, his eyes lighting up at the suggestion. The young daughter suddenly speaks up, "Please.. Don't hurt my mama!" she says, her voice trembling.
"Perhaps Your Majesty.. We could show a small mercy to the child.. Allow her to keep her dress during the... Procession" mitsurugi says, turning his gaze to the little girl.
"Very well.. The girl may keep her dress.. Let it not be said that King Mordred is without mercy" mordred says, after considering this for a moment.
"Your Majesty.. I implore you... If there's any shred of humanity left in you..." lady canmore says, her face streaked with tears and looking up at the king.
"Silence!.. You dare speak to me of humanity?!.. Your treasonous family forfeited any right to mercy the moment your husband failed me!" mordred roars as his face contorts with rage, "Take them away.. Let the executions begin at dawn.. I want the entire city to witness the price of failure" he shouts, waving his hand dismissively to the guards. As the guards drag the sobbing family away, "A wise decision Your Majesty" angron rumbles, approaching the throne.
"Indeed my friend.. Let them all learn that the price of defying me... Is beyond measure" mordred says, a satisfied smirk on his gaunt face. With a wave of his bony hand does the king dismiss the courtiers and advisors, "Leave me.. I wish to contemplate the coming spectacle in solitude" mordred commands, his voice echoing in the vast throne room. As the room empties, angron, sofia and mitsurugi bow deeply before retreating. They walk in silence through the opulent corridors of the palace, their footsteps muffled by the thick carpets. Only when they're well out of earshot of the throne room does sofia allow a soft chuckle to escape her lips.
"What a fool of a king" sofia murmurs, her gold eyes dancing with amusement.
"Indeed sister.. His cruelty serves our purpose well but his shortsightedness is... Remarkable" mitsurugi said, a smirk playing on his lips.
"He sees only the immediate satisfaction of his bloodlust.. He fails to consider the long-term consequences of his actions" angron adds, his deep voice rumbling in agreement.
"The execution of Canmore's son will only serve to create a martyr.. And parading his wife and daughter through the streets?!.. It will inspire more pity than fear" sofia says with a nod, her hair catching the light as they pass a window.
"Not to mention the potential backlash from the other noble houses.. They may begin to wonder if their own families could meet a similar fate" mitsurugi adds, his eyes narrowed. Angron's pale eyes narrow as he considers their words, "Perhaps we should consider... Adjusting the King's plans.. For the greater good of our cause of course" he says slowly.
"What did you have in mind Master" sofia asks, her eyes lighting up with interest. Angron's lips curl into a sinister smile as he leans in closer, "We must ensure this kingdom remains a haven for the cult my dear Sofia.. The king's shortsightedness could jeopardize everything we've worked for" he says, his voice dropping to a low rumble.
"Ah I see.. We need to... Guide his hand so to speak" mitsurugi says with a nod, his eyes gleaming with understanding.
"Precisely.. The execution of the boy must proceed.. It will serve as a potent distraction.. But the public humiliation of the mother and daughter... That we can use to our advantage" angron confirms, his massive frame casting a shadow over the twins.
"How so Master.. Do you propose we intervene" sofia asks, tilting her head and curiosity etched on her delicate features.
"Not directly no.. But we can plant the seeds of... Redemption in the king's mind" angron replies, his pale eyes narrowing as he considers his words carefully.
"Redemption?!.. For the traitor's family" mitsurugi says, raising an eyebrow and now intrigued.
"In a manner of speaking.. We suggest to the King that instead of mere public humiliation.. He offers the mother and daughter a chance to prove their loyalty" angron explains, his voice barely above a whisper. Sofia's eyes widen with realization, "By joining our ranks" she breathes out, a slow smile spreading across her face.
"Exactly.. We present it as an act of mercy.. A chance for the family to redeem themselves in the eyes of the crown.. But in reality..." angron says, nodding and pleased with her quick understanding.
"We gain two new initiates.. Broken.. Desperate and Grateful for any alternative to public disgrace.. They'll be perfect vessels for our cause" mitsurugi finishes, his voice filled with dark excitement.
"And the nobles.. How do we address their potential unease" sofia inquires, her mind already racing with possibilities.
"We'll spread whispers among them.. Hints that the King's apparent mercy was influenced by our counsel.. It will reinforce our position as voices of reason within the court" angron said, his expression growing thoughtful.
"Clever Master.. We maintain the illusion of the King's power while subtly increasing our own influence" mitsurugi says, nodding approvingly.
"Indeed.. This kingdom will remain our stronghold.. A bastion for our faith to grow and spread.. The king may sit upon the throne but it is we who shall truly rule" angron rumbles, satisfaction evident in his tone.
"Shall we approach the King with this proposal now Master" sofia says, her eyes gleaming with anticipation.
"Not yet.. Let him stew in his own cruelty for a while longer.. We'll present our idea as a sudden stroke of inspiration.. A moment of divine guidance from our dark lord" angron says, while shaking his head and his copper-red hair catching the light. The twins exchange knowing glances, their eyes dancing with malevolent glee.
"As you wish Master.. We'll await your signal" mitsurugi says, bowing his head slightly. As they continue down the corridor, their whispered plans fade into the shadows of the palace. The fate of lady canmore and her children hangs in the balance, unwitting pawns in the cult's sinister game of power and corruption. Suddenly angron freeze in his tracks, his massive frame becoming unnaturally still as sofia and mitsurugi halt beside him, exchanging quick glances of concern.
"Master?!" sofia queries softly, her gold eyes scanning their surroundings for any sign of threat. Angron's pale eyes narrow with his gaze unfocused as if seeing something beyond the confines of the palace walls. When he speaks, his voice is low and urgent, carrying a weight that makes the twins lean in closer.
"Sofia.. Mitsurugi.. There are two powerful foes now in AuBerst" angron rumbles, his words barely above a murmur. The twins stiffen with their hands instinctively moving towards hidden weapons, "Shall we eliminate them Master?!" mitsurugi says, his voice is tense. Angron shakes his head slowly with his copper-red hair catching the dim light of the corridor, "No.. Leave them for now.. We must not act hastily and risk exposing ourselves" he says after a moment of consideration.
"What would you have us do then" sofia says, her delicate brow furrowing in thought.
"I want you to keep patrol over the factory district and our interests there.. These new players must not interfere with our operations" angron says, his gaze sharpening as he turns to face his disciples.
"Consider it done Master.. We'll ensure our work continues uninterrupted" mitsurugi says, a cruel smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
"But what of these foes?!.. Who are they.. What threat do they pose" sofia presses, her curiosity evident in her tone. Angron's expression darkens with a flicker of something akin to concern passing over his features, "I cannot say for certain.. We will proceed with caution" he admits, his usual confidence wavering for a moment. The twins exchange another glance, this time tinged with a hint of worry as it's rare to see their master so unsettled.
"We'll gather information discreetly.. Perhaps we can uncover their identities and intentions without revealing our own hand" mitsurugi offers, his voice low and determined.
"Good.. But remember.. Your primary focus must be on safeguarding our interests in the factory district.. We cannot afford any disruptions to our plans" angron says, nodding approvingly.
"And if these foes should happen to stumble upon our operations" sofia says, her eyes gleaming with dark anticipation. A sinister smile spreads across angron's face, "Then my dear.. We shall give them a warm welcome they won't soon forget" he says, his earlier unease giving way to his usual malevolent confidence. The twins mirror their master's expression, their eyes dancing with cruel delight at the prospect of potential violence.
"Now go.. Keep me informed of any developments.. And remember.. Discretion is paramount.. We cannot risk drawing attention to ourselves at this crucial juncture" angron commands, his voice regaining its authoritative rumble. With synchronized nods do sofia and mitsurugi bow slightly to their master before turning to depart. As they move down the corridor, their earlier casual demeanor is replaced by a focused intensity, their steps purposeful and silent. Angron watches them go with his pale eyes narrowed in thought. The unexpected presence of these powerful newcomers has added a new layer of complexity to their already intricate plans. But as always, he is confident in his ability to adapt and overcome.
[Music: Music for a Cruel King - Knight Tales]
As dawn breaks over auBerst, an eerie silence falls upon the city streets. The usual morning bustle is replaced by a tense anticipation as people line the roads, their faces a mix of morbid curiosity and barely concealed horror. At the head of a procession is the lady canmore as she stumbles forward, her once-regal bearing now bent with grief and shame. Her naked form bears the marks of repeated lashings as angry red welts crisscross her pale skin. She carries a grisly burden in her trembling hands, the severed head of her young son, his once-defiant eyes now forever closed. Behind her is her young daughter following, still clothed but equally battered. The girl's face is streaked with tears, her small frame shaking with each sob as she watches her mother's torment. They pass as the crowd's reactions vary of some turning away, unable to bear the sight. Others watch with a mix of pity and fear, knowing that they too could face such a fate if they were to displease the king. From the shadows of an alleyway are sofia and mitsurugi observing the procession, their eyes glinting with a mix of satisfaction and calculation.
"It seems the King ignored Master's counsel and continued his plan" mitsurugi murmurs, his voice low enough for only his sister to hear.
"Indeed.. His bloodlust knows no bounds" sofia says, her platinum hair catching the early morning light. As the procession nears their position does sofia steps forward, her movement catching lady canmore's eye and for a brief moment, their gazes lock as sofia allows a flicker of compassion to cross her face. Lady canmore's eyes widen in surprise, a glimmer of hope breaking through her despair. Sofia gives an almost imperceptible nod before melting back into the shadows.
"What game are you playing sister" mitsurugi says, his eyebrows raised at his sister's actions.
"Planting seeds brother.. When the time comes.. She'll remember that moment of kindness.. It will make her all the more susceptible to our offer of... Salvation" sofia says, her lips curling into a subtle smile. As the procession moves on, the twins slip away from the crowd, making their way towards the factory district. Their master's orders echo in their minds to protect their interests, gather information and prepare for whatever challenges these new but unknown foes might bring. [song ends]

Isane is atop her horse moondancer while riding alongside the wagons carrying healers and supplies, her rapier and staff sealed in seals on her gloves. Ghost trots beside them with his keen eyes scanning their surroundings. The army's movement is a sight to behold, with soldiers marching in orderly lines and cavalry units flanking the main force. They soon crest a hill and isane catches her first glimpse of auBerst in the distance. The city's imposing walls loom on the horizon, a formidable challenge to their forces. She watches as the magical cannons are being positioned, their barrels aimed at the city's defenses.
"It's really happening isn't it?!" a young healer riding next to isane says, his voice trembling slightly.
"Yes it is.. But remember.. Our job is to save lives.. Not take them.. We must stay focused on our duty" isane says, offering a reassuring smile.
"You're right Isane.. Thank you" the healer says with a nod, seeming to draw strength from her words. They continue their advance as isane overhear snippets of conversation from the soldiers marching nearby, "Did you see those cannons.. They say they can blast through anything!... Yeah but what about their defenses?!.. I heard AuBerst has some pretty powerful mages" isane hears but couldn't help but feel a twinge of worry. She knows the dangers that lie ahead, not just for the army but for naruto and the others on their secret missions.
"Isane.. We should start preparing the field hospitals soon.. I would like your opinion.. Where do you think would be the best location" calls out an older healer from one of the wagons. Isane surveys the landscape and considering the tactical situation, "We should set up just beyond that ridge.. It's close enough to provide quick aid but sheltered from direct fire" she says, pointing to said ridge. Isane dismounts from moondancer as they approach the designated area, "Good girl.. Rest now.. We've got a long night ahead of us" she says, patting the white mare's neck.
"I know boy.. I'm worried too.. But we have to be strong for them" isane says, embracing ghost as he presses against her waist. Isane takes a deep breath and looks towards auBerst as the magical cannons are now fully in position, their presence a stark reminder of the violence to come.
"May the Gods watch over you all.. Please.. Let your missions be successful.. And come back to me safely" isane whispers, thinking of naruto and their friends. With one last look at the city does isane turn to the bustling activity around her. There's much to be done and she knows every moment counts. She begins helping with the setup of the field hospital but she can't shake the feeling that this is just the beginning of a long and perilous journey.

The sun begins its descent towards the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over auBerst but the city's uneasy atmosphere is suddenly shattered. The palace erupts into a flurry of activity as guards rush through its opulent halls, their faces etched with urgency and fear. Mordred has been savoring the day's earlier spectacle but is abruptly roused from his self-satisfied reverie. A young guard with his armor askew and breath coming in short gasps, bursts into the throne room.
"Your Majesty!.. Urgent news from the city gates!" the guard cries, dropping to one knee before the throne. Mordred's gaunt face contorts with anger at the interruption, "What is the meaning of this?!" he snarls, his bony fingers gripping the arms of his throne.
"Sire.. A massive force has been sighted approaching the city.. Our scouts estimate their numbers at... At least 40,000 strong" the guard swallows hard, visibly trembling as he delivers his report. A hushed gasp ripples through the courtiers present in the throne room but mordred's eyes widen, a flicker of fear breaking through his usual mask of cruelty.
"40,000?!.. Impossible! How dare they march on my city?!" mordred repeats, his voice barely above a whisper.
"Your Majesty.. They've already beginning to establish siege lines.. Our outer defenses report that they're well-equipped and highly organized" another guard says, his face grim.
"Who leads them?!.. What banners do they fly?!.. How could they amass without our notice?!" mordred shouts, his thin frame quivering with a mix of rage and panic. The guard hesitates for a moment with his eyes darting nervously around the room before meeting mordred's fierce gaze, "Your Majesty.. Our scouts report that the army is led by... Ser Jaime Dayne" he says, his voice barely above a whisper. A collective gasp echoes through the throne room with courtiers exchanging worried glances, their faces pale with fear. Mordred's face contorts with fury as his eyes bulge while he grips the arms of his throne so tightly his knuckles turn white, "That accursed Morningstar!.. How dare he march against me?!" he screams, spittle flying from his lips.
"Sire.. They do indeed fly the banner of House Dayne.. A white sword and falling star on a lavender field.. Among other Houses" a second guard adds, bowing low.
"Gather our forces!.. Prepare the city's defenses!.. I want every able-bodied man armed and ready to fight!" mordred shouts, abruptly standing and his thin frame shaking with rage.
"Your Majesty.. Perhaps we should consider negotiation" an elderly advisor approaches the throne cautiously says, as the guards rush to obey.
"Silence!.. I'll not bend the knee to that upstart!.. We'll crush him and his army or I'll see this city burn before I surrender!" mordred roars, rounding on the advisor. The king paces before his throne, muttering curses under his breath, his advisors begin to argue amongst themselves. Angron steps forward with his massive frame commanding instant attention, "Your Majesty.. Perhaps it would be wise to convene your war council immediately too" he rumbles, his voice cutting through the noise. Mordred turns to angron with a desperate look in his sunken eyes, "Yes.. Yes.. Summon them at once! And bring me reports from every corner of the city.. I want to know everything about this threat!" he says, nodding frantically as more guards rush to carry out the king's orders. As the sun dips lower in the sky, casting long shadows across auBerst, the city's earlier tension gives way to outright fear. The news of the approaching army spreads like wildfire and citizens rush to secure their homes and businesses. King mordred and his advisors huddle in urgent conference in the palace, their faces illuminated by flickering lights as they debate their next move. Outside the city walls, the distant glow of thousands of campfires begins to dot the landscape, a stark reminder of the siege that has only just begun. The future of auBerst hangs in the balance with forces both seen and unseen maneuvering for control. As night falls, the city holds its breath, waiting to see what the coming dawn will bring.

Naruto, mio and nazira have been settling in for what has become a tense four-day period. They huddle together in the shipping container and eagerly awaiting the return of information from naruto's clones. Mio's eyes widen as she receives a mental message from one of her spider companions on the first day, "Naruto.. Nazira... Something Horrific is happening in the city streets" she whispers, her voice trembling.
"What is it Mio?!" naruto says, leaning in and his face etched with concern. Mio sits with her eyes wide from shock and sorrow, "It's... It's about the wife of the man who led AuBerst's forces to attack Fort Helmund.. They're... They're doing terrible things to her and her children" she whispers, her words barely audible and both furrow their brows. Mio takes a shaky breath with her hands clenching into fists as she continues, "He may have been enemy... But they're parading her through the streets... Naked.. They've whipped her as she walks.. Forcing her to... To carry her son's severed head in her arms" she whispers, her voice filled with disgust and anger. Nazira's face pales with her usually composed demeanor cracking, "By the Gods" she breathes out, her voice a mix of horror and disbelief.
"And her daughter... They've beaten her too" mio adds, her eyes flickering in anger. Naruto's fists clenches with his knuckles turning white as rage courses through him, "This is beyond cruel.. It's monstrous" he mutters, his voice tight with barely contained fury.
"How can they do this?!.. These are innocent people.. Not soldiers.. They've done nothing wrong" mio whispers, her voice breaking. Nazira places a comforting hand on mio's shoulder, "This is why we're here.. To put an end to such brutality" she said softly, her touch gentle but her eyes burning with determination. As night fall on the second day and more troubling news comes as naruto's clone, disguised as an elderly man, returns with urgent information.
"Lord Jaime's army has begun the siege... They're forcing AuBerst to close its gates.. The city is in lock down" the clone reports before disappearing in a puff of smoke and naruto's eyes close as he absorbs the information.
"Our mission is crucial now.. We can't let these people suffer any longer" mio says, her eyes narrowing with determination.
"You're right Mio.. And it's about to get worse.. Lord Jaime will likely start bombarding the city with those cannons of his soon" nazira says, her expression darkening. They learn of increased patrols throughout the city as the third day dawns. Naruto's clones report seeing sellswords and soldiers taking anyone found out at night to jail.
"The factories are still running.. But security has been beefed up significantly" naruto said, his brow furrows in concentration as he sorts through the information from his clones. Mio's spider friends continue to provide valuable intelligence with their tiny forms going unnoticed in the chaos of the city, "The spiders and clones have mapped out some of the patrol routes.. We can draw maps and study them" mio offers, her voice gaining confidence.
"Good work Mio.. Every bit of information helps" nazira says, nodding approvingly. As they discuss their findings and begin to draw out the maps as one of naruto's clones, disguised as a young factory worker, returns with particularly interesting news.
"I've spotted something... Unusual" the clone reports before dispersing. Naruto's eyes widen as the information floods his mind, "There are two people at the factories who standing out.. Sofia and Mitsurugi" he said slowly, processing the new intelligence. As soon as the names left naruto's lips does the atmosphere in the shipping container shift dramatically. Mio's eyes narrows with her body tensing like a coiled spring, a palpable wave of killer intent radiating from her and filling the small space with an oppressive aura.
"The ones who harmed you Naruto" mio hisses, her voice dripping with venom. Her hands clenching into tight fists and her nails digging into her palms. Naruto's eyes widen in surprise and without hesitation, reaches out and pulls her into a gentle embrace, feeling her tremble with rage against him.
"We'll deal with them Mio.. But not now.. We need to focus on the mission at hand" naruto whispers softly, his breath warm against her ear and strokes her back soothingly while trying to calm her down. Mio's body relaxes slightly in naruto's embrace but her eyes still burn with determination, "We will.. I promise you Naruto.. They'll pay for what they did to you" she said, her voice low and fierce. Just as naruto is about to respond, a small black spider descends from the ceiling on a thin silk thread, landing delicately on mio's shoulder but mio's eyes widen and she lets out a small gasp.
"What is it?!" nazira asks, leaning forward with interest. Mio's expression shifts from surprise to concern as she listens to the spider's silent message, "They... They saw something.. Remember the guards in the sewer.. The one they were talking about" she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Yeah.. What about it" naruto says with a nod, his brow furrowing.
"My spiders found him.. The one called Grendel.. He's a lion beastman and is in one of the factories.. Under heavy chains" mio continues, after swallowing hard.
"I-I see.. But why would they..." naruto says, his eyes widening in shock.
"It gets worse.. From what my spiders could see.. He's being forced to work.. They're using him like... Like a living machine" mio interrupts, her voice trembling slightly.
"This city's cruelty knows no bounds" nazira growls, her fist clenched. Mio nods solemnly with her eyes distant as she processes the information from her spider companion, "From what I understand.. Grendel is incredibly powerful.. That's why they've got him in such heavy chains.. They're afraid of what he might do if he breaks free" she said, her voice low. Naruto cups his chin with his brow furrowed in thought but after a moment, a spark of realization lights up his eyes.
"Wait a minute.. If Grendel is as powerful as you say and if we could somehow free him..." naruto said, a hint of excitement creeping into his voice.
"He could cause absolute chaos.. I like your thinking" nazira finishes, a sly smirk spreading across her face. Mio's eyes widen with a mix of surprise and admiration on her face, "That's... Actually brilliant.. A distraction like that could be exactly what we need to carry out our mission" she said, her voice gaining strength.
"It's risky but it might be our best shot.. We'd need to be careful though.. We don't want to put innocent people in danger" naruto says, his blue eyes gleaming with determination.
"Agreed.. We'll need to plan this carefully.. Timing will be everything" nazira said, her smirk fading into a more serious expression.
"But how do we even approach Grendel.. We can't just walk into the factory" mio says, biting her lip and a look of concern crossing her face. Naruto's eyes lights up and a mischievous grin spreads across his face, "Actually we can" he said, his voice filled with excitement.
"What do you have in mind" nazira says, her eyebrow raised but also intrigued.
"It's simple.. I'll have my clones steal some guard uniforms.. Mio and I can disguise ourselves as guards.. While you can play the role of a prisoner we're escorting inside to work" naruto explains, with soft smirk on his face.
"And once we're inside..." mio says, her eyes widening while catching on to naruto's plan.
"We free Grendel and as many others as we can.. Create a riot and cause chaos.. It'll be the perfect distraction for our main mission" naruto finishes, his voice low but determined.
"It's risky but it could work.. We'd need to time it perfectly with our the others' plans" nazira says, a smirk playing on her lips and nodding slowly. Naruto's eyes light up and a thought suddenly occurring to him, "Indeed.. Ceras and the others must have met with the Blackfish by now" he said, snapping his fingers.
"Do you think they've made progress" mio says with tilt of her head, curiosity evident in her expression.
"There's only one way to find out.. I'll send a clone out to head to the Rusty Anchor and scout things out.. Maybe they'll even find the others" naruto replies, his hands already forming a familiar seal. With a puff of smoke and a clone materializes in the shipping container as naruto quickly gives him his instructions.
"Be careful.. The streets are more dangerous than ever" naruto warns as the clone prepares to depart and quickly slips out the container and out of the warehouse
"What do you think they're planning Naruto.. The Blackfish and our friends" mio asks, huddling closer to him. Naruto wraps an arm around her and she snuggles closer to him, "I'm not sure.. Lord Jaime said the Blackfish is the resistance and with Ceras and the others involved... It's bound to be something big" he admits, his brow furrowed in thought. Nazira leans back against the container wall and folds her muscular arms, "Whatever it is.. We need to make sure our plans align.. We can't afford any missteps" she says, her eyes closed in concentration.
"You're right.. If we can coordinate our efforts.. The factory riot.. Whatever the Blackfish is planning and Lord Jaime's siege.. We might just pull this off" naruto agrees, his voice gaining a note of excitement despite the tension.
"It's all coming together I hope" mio says, her eyes gleaming with a mix of anticipation and nervousness.
"Indeed it is.. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.. We still have a lot of work to do" naruto said softly, giving her a gentle squeeze. As they settle in to wait for news from the clone, the air in the shipping container hums with a palpable sense of anticipation. The pieces were falling into place and soon, very soon, they would make their move.

Across the city in a rust anchor's cellar tomoe, brienne, tia, cedric and ceras were surrounding a table with morgan and the atmosphere is tense but filled with hushed whispers and furtive glances. Morgan's eyes gleam with a mix of determination and worry as she addresses the group, "I'm sure Jaime will bombard the city soon.. My people are spreading amongst the sellswords and soldiers guarding the gate.. Once he does.. We'll begin our offensive" she said, her voice low but steady. Tomoe leans forward with her brow furrowed, "Indeed and our window is shrinking" she asks, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Indeed because I know my brother.. Mordred's patience is wearing thin.. He's itching to send our city's forces to meet Jaime head-on" morgan says, her eyes distant as if recalling painful memories.
"That seems rash.. Surely his advisors are against such a move" tomoe says, leaning forward and her brow furrowed with concern. Morgan nods with a hint of frustration in her voice, "They try to warn him yes.. Lord Blackthorn in particular has been vocal about the risks.. But Mordred..." she trails off, shaking her head.
"He doesn't listen" brienne prompts, her hand unconsciously tightening her cup.
"Not as much as he should.. Just yesterday I overheard him arguing with Lady Elara.. She was pleading with him to consider a more defensive strategy but Mordred dismissed her concerns" morgan admits, her chin resting up on her propped up hands.
"If Mordred does send out the city's forces.. It could work in our favor.. The city would be less defended" ceras says with frown, her quick mind working through the implications.
"True but at what cost?!.. Those are still our people he'd be sending to slaughter" morgan says, her eyes a mix of hope and worry. Tia speaks up with her voice soft but carrying a hint of steel, "Will he not listen to you.. His own sister" she asks, her eyes fixed on morgan. Morgan's face twists into a bitter smile with her eyes reflecting years of frustration and disappointment. She shakes her head slowly with her voice carrying a resigned tone, "My opinion does not matter as a woman.. In Mordred's eyes.. A woman's place is not in matters of war and politics" she said, the words heavy with unspoken history. Brienne's fists clench at her sides and her face flushing with anger, "That's ridiculous.. Your insight could save lives and prevent unnecessary bloodshed" she spits out, barely containing her outrage.
"I agree but unfortunately.. That's not how things work here.. Not yet at least" morgan says, appreciation flashing in her eyes at brienne's support.
"Then when the bombardments begin.. What exactly is our role in this offensive" brienne says, nodding slowly and drinking her drink. Morgan spreads a map of the city on the table, "Your team.. Will be crucial in securing the eastern quarter.. My people will create diversions at the main gate and the western wall but we need your skills to take control of the key points here and here" she said, pointing to a section of the map and tapping two locations.
"Those look like administrative buildings.. Important for controlling the city's infrastructure" tia observes, leaning in and studying the map intently.
"Precisely.. Once we have those.. We can start to turn the tide" morgan says, nodding approvingly.
"And what of the civilians?!.. How do we minimize casualties?!" cedric asks, after being quiet until now.
"We've been preparing safe houses and evacuation routes.. As soon as the bombardment starts.. We'll begin moving people to safety.. But we'll need your help to keep the paths clear" morgan explains as her expression softens slightly and pauses, "There's more to our plan.. I will lead a small force inside the castle to seize my brother.. It's a risky move but one we must take" morgan adds, her eyes scanning the faces around her and her voice taking on a more determined tone. Tomoe's eyebrows shoot up in surprise, "You're going after Mordred yourself?!" she asks, unable to hide the concern in her voice. Morgan nods with a grim smile playing on her lips, "I must.. This ends with him.. One way or another... I want you two with me.. I can disguise you as my handmaidens.. Allowing us to move more freely within the castle" she says, while turning to ceras and tomoe with her gaze intense. Tomoe nods and her eyes are gleaming with anticipation, "We'll be right by your side My Lady" she said, her voice filled with determination.
"Are you sure about this Lady Morgan.. The castle will be heavily guarded" ceras says, looking slightly hesitant.
"I understand your concern Ceras.. But I know the castle better than anyone.. There are secret passages we can use and with your skills.. I believe we stand a good chance" morgan says, reaching out and patting ceras' arm.
"What about the rest of us" brienne asks, while listening intently.
"You three will work with Boros.. Focusing on helping civilians.. Your strength and skills will be crucial in keeping people safe and maintaining order amidst the chaos while my people secure their targets" morgan says while looking to brienne, cedric and tia.
"We'll do our best to minimize casualties and ensure safe passage for the civilians" cedric says, his face set with determination.
"What about Angron.. Surely he'll catch wind of our plans once things start moving" tia says, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully.
"You're right Tia.. Angron is... Unpredictable and dangerous.. Hence why I want Ceras and Tomoe with me.. Your unique abilities will be our best defense against him" morgan says, her face darkening and her voice dropping to a whisper as both nod.
"My Lady.. While I understand the need for secrecy.. Shouldn't we try to coordinate with Naruto and the others.. Their actions could greatly impact our plans" brienne says after clearing her throat, drawing everyone's attention. Morgan nods slowly and considers brienne's words, "You're right.. We need to find a way to get word to them without risking exposure" she says and turns to tia, "Tia.. I'm sure your skills in stealth might be useful here.. Do you think you could locate Naruto's group and pass along our plans without being detected" she adds, an idea forming.
"I can certainly try My Lady.. I have a few tricks up my sleeve that might help" tia says, her eyes lighting up at the challenge. Morgan smiles with a glimmer of hope in her eyes, "Excellent.. We'll need every advantage we can get.. Remember.. Once the bombardment begins.. Everything will move quickly.. We'll need to be ready to act at a moment's notice" she says, looking around at the group and her voice filled with quiet intensity. The group nod in unison, the weight of their task settling over them like a heavy cloak. As they begin to discuss the finer details of their roles, the air in the cellar crackles with a mix of tension and determination. The pieces were set and soon, the fate of auBerst would hang in the balance.

Tia slips out of the hidden room in the rusty anchor as night fell, her lithe form blending seamlessly with the shadows. She moves with silent grace, her elven senses on high alert as she navigates the rooftops of auBerst. The cool night air brushes against her face as she leaps from building to building, her eyes scanning the streets below for any sign of soldier patrols. As she nears the beginning of the factory district, a flicker of movement catches her attention. Tia pauses and crouches low on the edge of a roof. Her keen eyes narrowed as she spots an old woman hobbling along the deserted street below but something about the woman's movements seem off. Tia's hand instinctively moves to one of her daggers with her fingers curling around the familiar hilt. The old woman suddenly stops and looks directly up at tia's position but in one fluid motion, draws her emerald dagger and drops silently to the street below, landing in a crouch just a few feet from the old woman.
"Who are you?!" tia demands, her voice low and dangerous. The old woman's wrinkles face breaks into a grin that seems oddly familiar and her form changes in a puff of smoke, revealing none other than naruto.
"Naruto?!" tia gasps, lowering her dagger.
"Sorry for the scare Tia.. I was actually out looking for you guys" naruto says, rubbing the back of his neck.
"You and your shinobi tricks.. I should have known" tia says, a mix of exasperation and amusement in her voice.
"It works.. But what are you doing out here alone?!.. It's dangerous.. Patrols are heavy" naruto says with a faint smile, then his expression turns serious.
"I was heading to look for you actually.. We've met with the Blackfish and formed a plan.. I was sent to brief you and the others" tia says, glancing around to ensure they were still alone.
"Perfect timing then.. We've got some news of our own.. Come on.. Let's get somewhere safer to talk" naruto says, his eyes widening with interest as they make their way through the shadowy streets. Tia fills naruto in on the blackfish or princess morgan's plan in hushed tones. Naruto listens intently with his brow furrowing as he processes the information.
"A surgical assault on the castle.. That's bold" naruto whispers, his voice a mix of admiration and concern.
"It's risky but Lady Morgan believes it's our best chance.. What about you.. What have you discovered" tia says with a nod. Naruto's eyes light up with excitement with a faint smile spreading across his face, "We've been busy too.. We've scouted the district thoroughly and have a plan in place to cause a riot.. Just like the plan calls for" he said, his voice low but measured.
"A riot?!.. How do you plan to pull that off" tia asks, her curiosity piqued.
"Well that's where things get interesting.. We found something... Or rather someone.. Who could be the linchpin of our entire operation" naruto replies, while looking at the night sky.
"Who?!" tia asks, her eyebrows raised in intrigue.
"A lion beastman.. His name is Grendel and from what we've gathered.. He's incredibly powerful.. They've got him chained up in one of the factories.. Using him like some kind of living machine" naruto replies, his voice dropping to a whisper.
"A lion beastman?!.. That's... Unexpected" tia says, her widening in shock.
"Yeah.. But listen Tia.. If we can free Grendel.. He could cause the kind of chaos we need to create a massive distraction" naruto says, his expression turning serious.
"It sounds risky Naruto.. How can you be sure this Grendel won't turn on us or harm innocent people" tia says with a frown, considering the implications.
"You're right it is risky.. But from what Mio's spiders have observed.. Grendel has been mistreated.. If we approach him right and show him kindness.. We might be able to gain his trust" naruto says, running his fingers through his tousled blond hair.
"And if we can direct his anger towards the right targets..." tia says while nodding slowly, her tactical mind already working through the possibilities.
"Exactly.. We could create the perfect distraction for both our plans and the Blackfish's assault" naruto said, snapping his fingers.
"It could work but we'd need to coordinate carefully.. The timing would have to be perfect" tia says, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully.
"That's why I'm glad we ran into each other.. We need to sync up our plans.. When is the Blackfish planning to make her move" naruto says, nodding with anticipation.
"She believes Lord Jaime will start bombarding the city soon.. Once that happens.. We'll spring into action" tia says, glancing around and her cloak shifting.
"Okay, so we need to be ready to move at a moment's notice.. We can use the chaos of the bombardment as cover to free Grendel and start the riot" naruto says, his brow furrowing in concentration.
"That should work" tia says, a small smile playing on her lips.
"We'll make it work" naruto says and his blue eyes twinkle with determination, "You should probably head back now Tia.. The streets are only going to get more dangerous" he adds, his expression softening.
"What about you.. Aren't you coming.. You can see Tomoe and Princess Morgan" tia says, tilting her head and her aqua green eyes studying naruto's face.
"Actually.. I'm just a clone.. The real me is back with Mio and Nazira.. I'll dispel soon and pass on all the information we've shared" naruto says, shaking his head.
"Ah.. Of course.. Your shadow clones.. They're indeed quite handy" tia said, a hint of something unreadable flickering in her eyes.
"Yeah.. They've gotten us out of more than a few tight spots.. You can head back now and I'll make sure the boss gets all the details when I dispel" naruto says, rubbing the back of his head. Tia hesitates for a moment with her gaze lingering on naruto's face. There is a tinge of something more in her aqua green eyes and a warmth that hasn't been there before, "Naruto.. Be careful okay... All of you" tia said softly.
"We will Tia.. You too.. This isn't going to be easy for any of us" naruto said while blinking, surprised by the concern in her voice. Tia nods while turning on her heels to leave. But before she disappears into the shadows, casts one last look over her shoulder at naruto. The clone catches a glimpse of something in her eyes like worry, affection or maybe even a hint of longing before she vanishes into the night. The clone stands there for a moment, a mix of emotions playing across his face. He hasn't expected to see that look in tia's eyes and he wasn't quite sure what to make of it. Shaking his head to clear his thoughts, reminds himself of the task at hand. With a small puff of smoke, the clone disperses and sends all the information back to the original naruto.

Nazira sits perched on a crate in the shipping container, her green eyes scanning the dimly lit interior of the warehouse. Her muscular frame is tense and ready for action with her keen senses, heightened by her mixed bloodline are on high alert and ready to detect any sign of danger. Nazira's tusks gleam faintly in the dim light as she shifts her position, her movements silent despite her imposing stature. Her calloused hands, strong enough to bend iron bars, rests lightly on her knees. She breathes deeply, taking in the scents around her like the musty odor of the container, the faint smell of sweat and the unique scents of her companions. Naruto sits on another crate, his back against the cool metal wall of the container. His chest rises and falls in a steady rhythm, his face peaceful in sleep. Mio is curled up on his lap, her head resting against his chest. Her eyes were wide open, fixed on naruto's face with an expression of pure adoration.
"Mio.. Do you ever sleep" nazira says, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips and her voice barely audible.
"On occasion.. But I prefer watching Naruto sleep.. It's... Soothing" mio murmurs, her voice equally soft and golden eyes never leaving naruto's face.
"Soothing.. How so" nazira says, tilting her head and curiosity is evident in her expression. Mio's hand moves to rest over naruto's heart and feeling its steady beat beneath her palm, "His heartbeat... It's strong and constant.. It reminds me that he's here.. That he's real" she explains with a hint of wonder in her voice but pauses, "Sometimes.. I still can't believe he chose me" she adds, her voice dropping even lower. Nazira's eyes soften with a gentle smile playing on her lips, "You love him that much.. Don't you" she asks, her voice low and curious. Mio's gaze finally leaves naruto's face and meeting nazira's eyes. A warm smile spread across her face and her eyes shine with emotion, "Of course.. He showed me kindness when I thought such a thing didn't exist in this world.. He gave me a reason to live and to hope" she replies softly, her hand still resting over naruto's heart.
"Blondie has that effect on people.. He like making the impossible seem possible" nazira says, understanding clear in her eyes.
"He does.. But it's more than that.. He doesn't just make things seem possible.. He makes them happen.. He fights for what he believes in and for the people he cares about" mio says with her smile widening, her eyes drifting back to naruto's peaceful face. As if on cue do naruto's eyes suddenly snap open, startling both mio and nazira with his blue eyes alert, a mix of excitement and urgency in them.
"My clone.. It found the others.. Well Tia at least" naruto said, shifting abruptly but careful not to jostle mio too much. Mio quickly moves off naruto's lap and her eyes are wide with anticipation, "What did she say" she asks, her voice soft. Naruto runs a hand through his hair with his mind racing as he sorted through the information, "They've met with the Blackfish.. They've got a plan in place" he begins, his voice low but excited.
"Tell us everything Naruto" nazira says, her green eyes intense.
"The Blackfish believes Jaime will start bombarding the city soon.. Once that happens.. They're planning a full-scale assault on the castle" naruto explains, his face serious as he relayed the information. Mio's eyes widen in surprise, "That's... Bold" she said, her voice a mix of admiration and concern.
"It is.. But that's not all.. Tomoe and Ceras are going to be with the Blackfish.. Disguised as handmaidens.. They're planning to go after Mordred directly" naruto agrees, while folding his arms.
"That's risky.. The castle will be heavily guarded" nazira says, her brow furrowed.
"Yeah but the Blackfish seems to think it's their best shot.. The others will be helping with evacuations and securing key points in the city" naruto says, nodding grimly.
"How does this affect our plans" mio says with a tilt of her head, her quick mind already working through the implications.
"That's the thing.. I told Tia about Grendel and our plan to start a riot.. She thinks it could work well with their assault if we time it right" naruto said, a hint of excitement creeping into his voice.
"The chaos from our riot could provide the perfect cover for their attack on the castle.. AuBerst will have to fight on three fronts like what was planned" nazira says, her eyes lighting up with understanding.
"Exactly.. We'll need to be ready to move as soon as the bombardment starts.. Use the initial chaos to free Grendel and kick things off" naruto says with a faint smile.
"We can do that.. My spiders can alert us as soon as the cannons begin to fire" mio said, her face set with determination.
"Perfect.. We'll need to move fast once it starts" naruto says, reaching out and taking mio's hand in his. Nazira's eyes gleams with a mischievous light, "So... I get to play the naughty criminal and you two the guards bringing me back" she said, a smirk playing on her lips.
"That's right.. Think you can handle it" naruto says, his blue eyes twinkling with amusement.
"Oh.. I think I can manage to look suitably dangerous and unruly.. It might even be fun" nazira says, stretching languidly and her smirk widening.
"But won't it be risky for you Nazira.. What if something goes wrong" mio says, a hint of worry in her eyes.
"Don't worry little spider.. I can take care of myself.. Besides I trust you two to keep me safe" nazira says with a wink.
"We'll have your back Nazira.. But Mio's right.. We need to be careful.. One wrong move and we could blow our cover" naruto said, his face turning serious.
"I know.. I'll play my part well.. You just focus on getting us into that factory" nazira said, her voice low and determined.
"We should practice.. Run through our roles.. Make sure we have our story straight" mio suggests, her brow furrowed in concentration.
"Good idea.. Let's go over it one more time" naruto says, giving mio's hand a gentle squeeze. As they begin to rehearse their plan, the air in the shipping container crackles with a mix of tension and excitement. They were on the brink of something big, something that could change the fate of auBerst forever. And as they work through the details of their disguises and backstories, each of them feel the weight of what was to come settling on their shoulders.
シーンブレイク
Around the midday of the fifth day, the atmosphere in the shipping container is charged with a mixture of nervous energy and determination. Naruto and mio were busy donning their stolen guard uniforms, the fabric rustling softly in the confined space. Naruto adjusts his collar with his blue eyes scanning mio's attire, "How does it feel" he asks, his voice low but tinged with concern.
"It's... Different.. But I'll manage" mio admits, a slight frown on her face and tugging her sleeves. Nazira is carefully removing her light armor, each piece set aside with practiced precision. Her green eyes flick between naruto and mio, a hint of amusement in their depths.
"You two make quite the convincing guards.. Just remember to scowl more.. Guards are always grumpy" nazira comments, a smirk playing on her lips. Naruto chuckles softly while attempting to arrange his features into a stern expression, "Like this" he asks, his voice gruff. Mio giggles with the sound lightening the tense atmosphere for a moment, "You look constipated Naruto" she teases gently. Naruto's mock-stern expression dissolves into a grin, "Well.. We can't all be natural actors like you Mio" he retorts playfully and gives a peck to her forehead. Nazira finishes removing her armor and holds out her arm to naruto, "Ready when you are Blondie" she said, her voice steady despite the gravity of what they were about to attempt. Naruto nods with his expression turning serious as he focuses on the seal now on nazira's forearm. With a few quick hand signs does he activate the seal and nazira's sword disappears in a small puff of smoke.
"How does it feel" naruto asks, his eyes scanning nazira's face for any sign of discomfort.
"Strange.. I can almost feel Soulreaver's presence" nazira admits, flexing her arm and a look of concentration on her face.
"Good.. We can't risk them finding a weapon on you when we bring you in.. This way.. You'll have Soulreaver if we need it but it'll be hidden.. Just channel your magic into it" naruto says with a small nod. As they finish their preparations, a somber mood settles over the group. The reality of what they were about to attempt weighs heavily on them all.
"Are we really ready for this" mio says, her voice barely above a whisper. Naruto reaches out and takes her hand in his as his blue eyes meet hers, "We've prepared as much as we can Mio.. We're as ready as we'll ever be" he says, his voice filled with determination and warmth.
"Blondie's right.. We've got a solid plan and we've got each other.. That's more than most people have going into something like this" nazira says, her expression fierce. Mio squeezes naruto's hand and drawing strength from his touch, "You're right.. We can do this.. We have to" she said, her voice growing stronger.
"Alright.. Let's get Nazira ready... Mio can you handle the bindings" naruto says, his blue eyes filled with determination. Mio releases naruto's hand and moves towards nazira with a length of rope in her hands, "Of course" she said softly and begins to tie nazira's wrists.
"Is this too tight" mio asks, looking up at the half-orc woman.
"No little spider.. It needs to be convincing remember.. Don't worry about hurting me" nazira says, shaking her head and a wry smile on her face.
"I just... I don't like seeing you like this Nazira.. Even if it's pretend" mio said, her brow furrowed in concentration as she continues to work.
"I know but it's necessary.. We all have our parts to play in this" nazira says, her expression softening slightly. Mio finishes securing nazira's wrists as naruto gathers nazira's discarded armor, "We'll need to make it look like we've just captured you" he explains, carefully arranging the pieces. Nazira watches him work to seal the pieces and her green eyes somewhat thoughtful, "Blondie.. What if something goes wrong in there.. What if we can't free Grendel" she said, her voice low.
"Then we adapt.. We've come too far to back down now. If Plan A fails.. We move to Plan B" naruto says firmly, meeting her gaze.
"And what exactly is Plan B" mio asks, her voice tinged with curiosity and a hint of worry.
"We make it up as we go" naruto says, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"You're incorrigible Blondie" nazira says, shaking her head. Mio smiles and finishes the last knot on nazira's bindings, "There.. How does that feel" she said, stepping back to examine her work. Nazira tests the ropes while twisting her wrists slightly. "Perfect.. Tight enough to look real but I could break free if I needed to" she said approvingly.
"Good.. Now remember Nazira.. You're our dangerous prisoner.. Try to look... Well dangerous" naruto said, straightening up. Nazira's lips curl into a fierce grin with her tusks gleaming in the dim light. "Oh.. I think I can manage that" she growls, her voice dropping to a menacing timber.
"That's... Quite convincing" mio admits, slipping on her cap.
"Perfect... Now.. Let's go over the plan one more time.. Mio and I will escort Nazira into the factory.. Claiming we caught her causing problems at a tavern" naruto says, nodding approvingly.
"Once inside.. We'll locate Grendel and assess the situation.. If possible.. We'll try to communicate with him discreetly" mio continues, her voice gaining confidence.
"And if we get the chance.. We free him and as many others as we can.. Create chaos and give the Blackfish and her people the distraction they need" nazira adds, her voice low and determined.
"Remember.. Our priority is freeing Grendel and starting the riot.. But if things go south.. We get out.. No unnecessary risks.. Understood" naruto said, his blue eyes serious. Both mio and nazira nod solemnly, "Understood" they said in unison. They prepare to leave their hiding place as naruto takes a deep breath and straightens his shoulders, "Alright.. Let's do this" he said, his voice filled with determination. The trio emerge from the shipping container, blinking in the harsh midday light. Naruto and mio flank nazira, their hands firmly gripping her arms as they made their way through the bustling streets towards the factory district.
"Remember.. Act natural.. We're just doing our job" naruto whispers, his lips barely moving. Mio nods almost imperceptibly with her grip on nazira tightening slightly. Nazira is playing her part and her role perfectly, her face set in a fierce scowl as she stumbles along between them. Naruto feels his heart rate quicken as they approach the factory gates. He forces himself to breathe slowly, keeping his face impassive beneath the brim of his hat.
"Halt!" a gruff voice calls out as they near the entrance. Two guards step forward with both being overweight, "What's this then?!" one says, their eyes narrowing as they take in the sight of nazira.
"Caught this one trying to cause trouble.. Captain said to bring her here for questioning" naruto says after clearing his throat, deepening his voice slightly.
"Trouble?!.. What kind of trouble" the second says, their eyes narrowing further. Before naruto could respond does mio step in smoothly, "We caught this bitch trying to steal from a tavern... Thought she could slip away in the chaos but we were too quick for her" she said, her voice cold and hard in a way naruto has never heard before. Nazira snarls and plays her part to perfection, "I didn't do nothin'!.. These bastards are lying!" she spits, struggling against her bonds.
"Feisty one ain't she.. Alright take her in.. Maybe a few hours of 'Questioning' will loosen her tongue" one guard says with a chuckle, a cruel sound that makes naruto's skin crawl. Naruto feels a mix of relief and apprehension wash over him as they pass through the gates. They were in but the real challenge is just beginning and he catches mio's eye, seeing the same mix of emotions reflected there.
"Nice work.. That was some quick thinking" naruto murmurs as they make their way across the factory yard.
"Thanks.. I just said what I thought they'd want to hear" mio says, her lips curved in a small smile.
"You two aren't so bad at this yourselves.. Now let's find Grendel and get this show on the road" nazira grunts softly, her eyes shifting from left to right. They enter the main factory building and the noises hit them like a physical force. The clanging of machinery, the shouts of overseers and the low but constant hum of activity fills the air. Naruto's eyes darts around and taking in the scene as workers, many of them looking exhausted and beaten down, toil at various stations. Overseers prowl the floors with batons in hand, their watchful eyes missing nothing.
"Where do you think they're keeping him?!" mio whispers, her voice barely audible over the din.
"Somewhere secure probably.. Let's head deeper in and see what we can find" naruto says with a frown, scanning the area. Naruto feels a growing sense of unease as they make their way through the factory. The conditions were worse than he'd imagined as workers were crammed into every available space, operating dangerous machinery with little regard for safety. Suddenly there is a commotion at the far end of the factory that catches their attention. A group of overseers were gathered around something, "That might be our best bet.. Let's check it out" naruto murmurs, seeing them shouting and gesturing angrily. They approach the crowd as it parts slightly and naruto catches a glimpse of what has caused the disturbance. His eyes widen as he sees a massive figure, easily twice the size of a normal man, chained to an enormous piece of machinery.
"That has to be Grendel" naruto thought, seeing the easily six foot plus beastman. The lion beastman's golden mane is matted and dirty, his powerful body covered in scars and fresh wounds. But despite his sorry state, there is a fire in his eyes that speak of an unbroken spirit. Naruto feels a surge of anger and determination as they have found their target but now, they just need to figure out how to free him and start the chaos they needed. As they move closer to grendel, the noise of the factory seems to fade into the background. Naruto's eyes were fixed on the massive lion beastman and his mind racing with possibilities.
"Hey!.. You three!.. What are you doing here?!" a gruff voice cuts through naruto's thoughts. Naruto turns to see two overseers approaching, their faces twisted into suspicious scowls. He feels nazira and mio tense beside him with mio's grip on nazira's arm tightening slightly.
"We caught this one causing trouble.. Captain said to bring her here for questioning" naruto said, deepening his voice and gesturing towards nazira.
"Questioning eh?!.. And why bring her all the way in here?!" one of the overseers says, a burly man with a thick mustache as he eyes nazira critically.
"We heard there was a disturbance.. Thought we might be needed" mio say, her voice cold and steady. The second overseer is a wiry man with beady eyes but snorts, "We don't need no help with that beast.. He's just being stubborn again.. Nothing a few lashes won't fix" he said, jerking his thumb towards grendel. Naruto feels his blood boil at the casual cruelty in the man's voice. He forces himself to remain calm and knows they couldn't blow their cover now, "What seems to be the problem with him" naruto asks, trying to sound disinterested.
"Damn beast won't work.. Says he's too tired.. As if we care about that" the burly overseer says, spitting on the ground.
"Sounds like you lot can't handle one prisoner.. Maybe you need some lessons in discipline" nazira snaps, playing her part perfectly and letting out a low growl. The wiry overseer's face flushes with anger, "Watch your mouth Bitch!" he snarls, raising his hand as if to strike her. Naruto steps between them and his heart pounding, "Easy now.. She's our prisoner.. We'll deal with her" he said, his voice level despite the tension coursing through him. The burly overseer looks them over with curious eyes, "I don't recognize you two.. New recruits?!" he says slowly, his eyes narrowing.
"Just transferred.. Still learning the ropes" mio said with a nod, her face a mask of indifference. Naruto thought they have been caught for a moment, "Well.. If you're offering to help.. We could use some fresh muscle.. That beast needs to learn his place" the wiry overseer says with a shrug. Naruto exchanges a quick glance with mio, seeing the same mix of disgust and determination in her eyes that he feels but this was their chance.
"We'd be happy to assist.. What do you need us to do" naruto said, his voice carefully neutral. As the overseers began explaining their cruel plans for grendel and naruto's mind begins to race. They were close to their target but the situation is more complicated than they'd anticipated. They needed to act soon, before things got out of hand. But how could they free grendel without blowing their cover and once they did, how would they control the chaos that would surely follow. An idea strikes naruto suddenly and clears his throat to draw the attention of the overseers, "You know.. Why don't you take our prisoner and let her and I deal with him" naruto said, his voice taking on a casual tone and gesturing towards mio with a nod of his head.
"Oh?!.. And what makes you think you can handle that beast when we can't?!" the burly overseer says while raising an eyebrow, clearly intrigued. Naruto allows a sly grin to spread across his face, "She and I have ways of ringing out performance from the stubborn.. We've dealt with... Difficult cases before" he said, his voice low and confident. Mio catches on quickly and adds her own contribution, "It's true.. We have certain methods that tend to be quite effective" she said, her voice cold and matter-of-fact.
"And what methods would those be?!" the wiry overseer said, looking skeptical.
"Let's just say.. We know how to make people sing without leaving a mark.. It's all about knowing which buttons to push" naruto says, leaning closer as if sharing a secret. The burly overseer exchange a look with his companion, "Alright.. You can have a go at him.. But if you can't get results.. We're doing things our way" he says with a shrug.
"Fair enough.. Now.. If you could just take our prisoner off our hands..." naruto agrees, trying to keep the relief out of his voice. The overseers lead nazira away as naruto and mio approach grendel. The lion beastman's eyes are filled with a mixture of defiance and exhaustion but fixed on them warily.
"Well.. Well.. Looks like we've got ourselves a troublemaker" naruto said loudly, for the benefit of anyone who might be listening.
"Indeed.. But we'll soon teach him the error of his ways.. Won't we?!" mio says, her voice dripping with false disdain and playing along. Grendel growls with his massive form tensing as naruto and mio approaches. His golden eyes narrow while studying them intently but suddenly, his nostrils flare and a look of confusion crosses his face.
"You're not the normal guards" grendel rumbles, his voice low and gravelly but despite his weakened state, there is still power in his words. Naruto glances around quickly, making sure no one was within earshot and then with a swift movement, shifts his cap and revealing his face more clearly to grendel.
"You're right.. We're not.. We're here to free you Grendel.. And we want your help to cause a riot" naruto whispers, his blue eyes meeting grendel's golden ones. Grendel's eyes widen in surprise but then narrow with suspicion, "Free me?!.. Why should I trust you?!" he growls softly.
"Because we're your only chance.. Look around you Grendel.. This place is a nightmare.. We want to put an end to it" mio says, stepping closer and her voice barely carrying over the sounds of machinery. Grendel's gaze sweeps over the factory floor as he takes in the misery and suffering around him, "And what makes you think I can help?!.. Look at me.. I'm chained like a beast" he says, his massive shoulders sagging slightly.
"We've seen your strength Grendel.. These chains might hold you now but with our help.. You could break free.. And when you do..." naruto says, his eyes gleaming with determination.
"Chaos.. Pure chaos" grendel finishes, a hint of a growl in his voice.
"Exactly.. But we need to be smart about this.. We can't just charge in blindly" mio says, a small smile playing on her lips. Grendel studies them for a moment longer with his expression unreadable, "Alright.. I'm in.. But how do we do this" he says, as slowly a fierce grin spread across his face and revealing sharp teeth. Naruto leans in closer with his voice barely audible over the din of the factory, "We're waiting for a signal.. I'm sure you've heard that the city is under siege" he whispers, his blue eyes intense as they met grendel's golden ones. Grendel's ears twitches with his massive head tilting slightly as he processes this information, "Siege?!.. Who would dare attack AuBerst?!" he rumbles softly, curiosity mixing with the ever-present wariness in his eyes.
"We were sent by the ones besieging the city... The Morningstar Jaime Dayne" mio says, after glancing quickly and ensuring no one is paying them undue attention but her voice barely a breath. Grendel's eyes widen slightly with a flicker of recognition passing across his scarred face, "Jaime Dayne.. I've heard whispers... Even in here.. They say he fights for the rightful queen" he repeats, his voice a low growl.
"That's right.. And we're here to help turn the tide.. But we need your strength Grendel.. Your power could be the key to freeing not just yourself but everyone trapped in this hellhole" naruto said, a small smile playing on his lips. The lion beastman's massive shoulders tense with muscles rippling beneath his matted fur, "And what exactly is this signal we're waiting for?!" he asks, his voice a low rumble.
"Bombardment.. When the first shells hit the city wall.. That's when we move.. The chaos will be our cover" mio explains, her voice low.
"Clever.. But how do you plan to free me?!.. These chains are no ordinary metal" grendel admits, his eyes narrowing thoughtfully.
"We have our ways.. When the time comes.. You'll be free.. But we need to know.. Once those chains are off.. Are you with us.. Will you help us liberate this place" naruto says, looking around to overseers. Grendel is silent for a long moment with his golden eyes searching naruto's face but then a fierce grin forms, "Free me and I'll tear this place apart with my bare hands" he growls, his sharp teeth on full display.
"Good.. But remember.. We need to be smart about this.. When the signal comes and we'll free you first.. Then we focus on getting as many workers out as possible.. Cause chaos but try to minimize casualties among the innocent" mio says, a mixture of relief and determination on her face.
"I understand.. I have no quarrel with my fellow prisoners.. It's the guards and overseers who will taste my fury" grendel says, his expression serious.
"Hey!.. What's taking so long over there?!" a shout from across the factory floor echoes, making them all tense. Naruto straightens up and quickly adopting a stern expression, "Just softening him up!.. Give us a few more minutes.. We'll have him working soon enough" he calls back, his voice gruff and authoritative. Naruto leans in close to grendel once more, "We'll be ready.. Just hold on a little longer.. Freedom is coming Grendel. And with it justice for all that's been done here" naruto whispers, as the overseer turns away and grumbling. Grendel's eyes gleam with a mixture of hope and fierce determination, "I'll be ready.. When the time comes.. These chains won't hold me back.. Together and we'll show them the true meaning of chaos" he rumbles softly.

A loud clarion call erupts suddenly that cuts through the constant din of the factory as the sound is piercing, urgent and unmistakable.
"What the hell?!" one of the overseers shouts, his head whipping around in confusion.
"We're under attack!.. The city's under attack!" a panicked voice shouts above the chaos. The factory floor erupts into pandemonium as workers stop in their tracks, tools clattering to the ground. Overseers shout orders and their voices are tinged with fear but also uncertainty. Naruto's eyes met mio's with a silent understanding passing between them as this was it, the signal they'd been waiting for.
"Now?!" grendel rumbles softly, his muscles tensing beneath his chains.
"Now" naruto says, giving him an almost imperceptible nod. Naruto creates several flame brids in one fluid motion and prepares them for the chains, "Stand back" he warns, his voice low and intense. Grendel's eyes widen in awe as naruto's flame brids move towards on his bonds. The chains hisses and sizzles as the flames make contact as the metal glows red-hot in an instant. The magical flame burns through the chains like a hot knife through butter and as the last link gave way, the chains collapse into a pool of molten slag at grendel's feet. The lion beastman stares in disbelief at his now-free limbs, flexing his massive paws experimentally.
"I'm free" grendel whispers and with a roar that shakes the very foundations of the factory. He springs into action and lunges forward on all fours, his massive paw swatting away an approaching overseer as if he were nothing more than a bothersome fly.
"Freedom!.. Rise up!.. Break your chains!" grendel bellows, his voice carrying over the chaos. Naruto and mio waste no time and they move swiftly as naruto creates shadow clones to help free as many workers as possible while mio uses her spider silk to incapacitate the guards rushing towards them.
"What are you doing?!.. Who are you people?!" a worker cries out as naruto breaks his shackles.
"We're here to help.. The city is under siege.. This is your chance to escape.. Spread the word but be careful!" naruto replies, his voice firm and reassuring. Mio finds herself face to face with the wiry overseer from earlier as the chaos spread, his beady eyes were wide with shock and fury.
"You!.. I knew there was something off about you!" the wiry man snarls, reaching for his weapon. Mio's eyes narrows with lightning speed as she ducks under his swing and sweeps his legs out from under him, "You should have treated your workers better" she said coldly, killing him with her silk before moving on to free more prisoners. Grendel is a force of nature across the factory floor, tearing through machinery, sending guards flying with casual swipes of his massive paws and inspiring the workers around him to join the uprising.
"For too long have we suffered under their cruelty!.. No more!.. Today we reclaim our freedom!" grendel roars, his voice carrying over the din. His words ignite a spark in the workers around him and with newfound courage, begin to fight back against their oppressors. One burly man seizes a set of keys from a fallen guard, his eyes lighting up with determination.
"The keys!.. We can free the others!" the burly man shouts, holding them high.
"Go!.. Spread to the other factories.. Free as many as you can!" naruto shouts, creating more shadow clones to assist. The workers needed no further encouragement and surge forward, a tide of humanity driven by the promise of freedom. Some wield makeshift weapons, others rely on sheer numbers to overwhelm the guards. Mio moves gracefully through the chaos with her spider silk immobilizing guards left and right, "This way!.. Stay together and watch each other's backs!" she calls out, guiding workers towards the exits. Naruto fights his way through the throng as his clones provide cover and assistance where needed, "We need to get outside!.. The city needs to see this uprising!" he shouts to mio and grendel. As they battle their way towards the factory gates, the air fills with the sounds of combat and the acrid smell of smoke. Alarms sound, mixing with the shouts and screams of both guards and workers as they reach the open air of the factory yard but their victory is short-lived.
"They're here" naruto thought, as his eyes fall upon the twins sofia and mitsurugi. Sofia's high-pitch giggles cut through the air, her eyes are wide and manic, fixed on him with unsettling intensity.
"Look Brother.. It's the Stranger.. And here I thought you died.. Either from the wounds we inflicted or that dragon" sofa said, her voice lilting and pointing directly at naruto with a twisted smile playing on her lips. Mitsurugi's face remains impassive but his hand moves to the hilt of his sword, "It seems we underestimated his resilience Sister" he said, his voice cold and emotionless. Naruto feels mio tense beside him, her body coiled like a spring ready to unleash. Grendel senses the shift in atmosphere and moves closer, his massive form a protective presence at naruto's back.
"You know these accursed two?!" grendel rumbles, his eyes never leaving the twins. Naruto's jaw tightens with his blue eyes hardening as he tosses his cap aside, "I do.. They tried to kill me" he said, his voice low and filled with a mixture of anger and determination. Mio's eyes narrow and her gaze is fixed on sofia with an intensity that could have melt steel. The spider woman's hands clenched into fists, her whole body radiating barely contained fury. Sofia is utterly unfazed by mio's glare and simply sneers with her lips curling into a cruel smile, "Oh look Brother.. She thinks she's scary.. How adorable" sofia coos, her voice dripping with false sweetness but she remembers mio's strength from fort helmund.
"Don't underestimate her Sofia" mitsurugi says, his cold eyes lingering on grendel's imposing form. His hand remains on the hilt of his sword and ready to draw at a moment's notice, "How does freedom taste Grendel.. Savor it while you can.. It will be short-lived" mitsurugi asks, his voice as emotionless as his expression. Grendel's massive form tenses with a low growl rumbling in his chest, "My freedom.. Was with blood and pain.. I will not relinquish it so easily" he snarls, his golden eyes blazing with fury. Mitsurugi's lips curve into a cold smile but with a swift and graceful motion, raises his left hand aloft. The air around it shimmers and warps as suddenly, a long axe materialized in his grasp. Its handle is intricately carved and the head bore the visage of a snarling dragon, its eyes gleaming with an otherworldly light. Grendel's eyes widen with his fierce expression giving way to one of shock and recognition. His massive paws clenching and unclenching as if remembering the feel of the weapon in his grip.
"Recognize your old weapon?!" mitsurugi asks, his voice tinged with cruel amusement. He twirls the axe with practiced ease, the dragon head seeming to come alive in the flickering light. Naruto glances between grendel and the axe with confusion evident on his face, "Grendel... What's he talking about?!" he asks, his voice low and urgent. The lion beastman's ears flatten against his skull with a mix of anger and shame crossing his features, "That axe... Was mine.. Before... Before they took everything from me" he growls, his voice thick with emotion. Mio's eyes narrow with her gaze flicking between grendel and the twins, "They stole your weapon?!" she asks, her voice filled with quiet fury. Grendel nods slowly with his golden eyes never leaving the axe in mitsurugi's hand, "Yes... They took everything from me.. My Freedom.. My Dignity and my Weapon" he growls, his voice low and rumbling but a fierce light ignites in his eyes. He straightens to his full height and towers over everyone present, "But you were foolish to reveal it to me again" grendel snarls, his voice gaining strength and power.
"Oh" sofia sneers but her brother smug expression falters for a moment, confusion flickering across his face. Grendel extends his massive paw with his claws glinting in the light, "Heed my call Infernal Axe... Draken Maw!" he roars, his voice echoing across the factory yard and for a moment nothing happens. Sofia's high-pitch giggles cut through the air, mocking and cruel but then, the axe in mitsurugi's hand begins to tremble. Mitsurugi's eyes widen in shock as the weapon suddenly wrenches itself from his grip. The axe flying through the air, its dragon head seeming to come alive, jaws opening in a silent roar and flames shooting from its eyes as it streaks towards grendel. With a resounding thud, the axe slams into grendel's waiting paw. The lion beastman's fingers closes around the handle and a visible shockwave ripples through the air.
"Impossible!" mitsurugi gasps out, taking an involuntary step back. For the first time, his cold composure cracks and reveals a flicker of fear beneath. Sofia's giggles dies in her throat, her manic eyes widening as she realizes the tables have turned. Grendel's lips curl into a fierce grin and his teeth gleaming in the light as clouds move across the sky, "You should have destroyed it when you had the chance.. Draken Maw remembers its true master" he rumbles, his voice filled with newfound strength and determination. Naruto rips off the left sleeve off his stolen uniform without hesitation and channels chakra into the seal on his forearm, before gungir appears in a puff of smoke and the blond spins the sword in his hand.
"Grendel.. Use your axe to cause more chaos.. Leave these two to us" naruto calls out, his voice steady. The lion beastman turns to naruto with his golden eyes burning from a newfound fire. He hefts draken maw onto his shoulder as the axe hums with power in his massive paw but for a moment, studies naruto as if truly seeing him for the first time.
"You freed me.. You reunited me with my axe.. My axe and I are yours to command" grendel rumbles, his deep voice filled with respect. Mio steps forward with her eyes never leaving the twins, "Go Grendel.. Show them what true strength looks like" she said softly. With a fierce grin and a nod of acknowledgment does grendel turn and bound away. His roar echoing through the factory yard as he charges towards the main gates with draken maw gleaming in his grip. Sofia's high-pitch giggles cut through the air once more but this time it hold a note of uncertainty, "Oh how touching.. The little heroes think they can take us on" she sneers, her eyes darting between naruto and mio. Mitsurugi's cold composure has returned and his hand now resting on the hilt of his sword, "You should have stayed dead Stranger.. This time... We'll make sure to finish the job" he said, his voice as emotionless as ever.
"You tried to kill me once" naruto said with his voice low and dangerous, "That was your mistake" he adds, tightening his grip around gungir. Mio's hands clench into fists as her body coils and ready to strike, "You hurt Naruto.. I've waited for this moment" she hisses, her voice filled with barely contained fury. The sounds of chaos echo around them as grendel's roars mix with the shouts of freed workers and the clanging of alarms. The air is thick with tension and the promise of violence hanging heavy between them. Naruto and mio exchange a quick glance with a silent understanding passing between them.
"I'm with you Ruto.. Show them your strength" aurelia's voice echoes in his mind, warm and encouraging as a small smile tugs at his lips
"I'll take Mitsurugi.. You handle Sofia" naruto says, glancing to mio and his blue eyes hardening with determination. Mio nods with her lips curling into a fierce grin, "With pleasure" she hisses, her eyes never leaving the manic-eyed cultist. Sofia's giggles cut through the air once more with her eyes glinting, "Oh.. Dividing up the prey are we.. How quaint" she taunts, twirling a strand of her platinum hair around her finger. Mitsurugi's cold eyes narrow with his hand tightening on his sword hilt, "It matters not.. The outcome will be the same" he said, his voice as emotionless as ever. Naruto takes a deep breath and centers himself but with a swift motion, brings his longsword up into a ready stance and its blade gleaming in the light.
"Let's see about that.. This time.. I'm not the same person you tried to kill" naruto says, his voice filled with quiet confidence. As the words leaves naruto's mouth and the air around them seems to crackle with tension. Mio's eyes never leaves sofia and conjures a folded metal fan as with a flick of her wrist, the fan snaps open to reveal the intricate designs etched into its surface. Mitsurugi's cold eyes narrow as he observes the change in his opponents' stances. He flips his sword without a word, catching it by the blade and offering the hilt to his sister. Sofia's manic grin widens as she accepts the weapon and twirls it with unsettling glee. But mitsurugi is far from defenseless as with a wave of his hand, the air around him shimmers and warps. Several sword blades materialize around him, hovering in the air around him like deadly satellites. Each blade looks as sharp and lethal as the one he passed to his sister.
"Be ready Ruto" aurelia says and with prompting both spring into action. Naruto and mio lunge forward, their movements perfectly synchronized after fighting side by side. Sofia's eyes are wild with excitement and meet their charge head-on while mitsurugi's sword gleams in her grip. They close the distance with mitsurugi's floating blades shoot forward like arrows. Naruto's eyes narrow and his instincts kick in and with fluid grace, brings gungir up and deflects the incoming swords with a series of metallic clangs.
"You've improved.. But it won't be enough" mitsurugi comments, his voice as cold as ever. Naruto didn't waste breath on a reply but instead, presses forward with gungir a blur in his hands as he continues to deflect the onslaught of flying blades. Mio and sofia collide in a flurry of strikes not far from the others. Sofia's manic grin never falters as she swings her sword but mio matches her blow for blow, her metal fan proving to be both an effective shield and a deadly weapon.
"Oh look at you.. So angry and so protective.. Tell me.. How did it feel when we nearly killed your precious Naruto.. Seeing him laying there on the verge of death" sofia giggles out, her voice dripping with mock admiration. Mio's eyes flash dangerously as her movements become even more fluid and deadly, "You made a grave mistake.. You hurt someone I care about.. Now you'll pay the price" she hisses, her fan slicing through the air mere inches from sofia's face.
"Pay the price.. Oh.. You have no idea what true pain is.. But don't worry.. I'll be happy to show you!" sofia taunts, her laughter echoing across the factory yard with the chilling sound that seems at odds with the chaos around them. As the battles rage on, the air crackles with tension and the clash of steel. Naruto and mio fight with everything they have, their movements a testament to their growth and the bond they share. The cultist twins and for their part, prove to be formidable opponents, their twisted abilities and ruthless tactics pushing our heroes to their limits.

"Continue to Fire at will!" jaime's voice rings out, clear and commanding over the din of battle. His infantry and cavalry stand at the ready, awaiting his orders to advance. Raising a pair of enchanted binoculars to his eyes does jaime scan the city's defenses. The walls of auBerst, once thought impregnable by many, were beginning to show signs of wear under the relentless barrage. Cracks spider-web across the stone and steel, growing larger with each impact of the magical cannons.
"I hope Ceras and Naruto's group are causing chaos inside" jaime thought to himself, his brow furrowed with concentration. The success of their plan hinges on the internal disruption as much as the external assault. Robb rides up beside him with but his eyes holding a mix of grim excitement and nervousness, "Jaime.. We're ready.. But do you think the King will counterattack" robb said, his voice steady despite the tension in his posture. Jaime lowers his binoculars and turning to face robb but could see the same question reflecting in the eyes of the soldiers nearby, all waiting for his response.
"The King will have no choice but to respond.. But that's exactly what we want.. Our job is to keep their attention focused on us.. To give our friends inside the city the time they need" jaime replies with his voice calm and assured, "Remember.. We're not here to conquer AuBerst.. We're here to liberate it. Every moment we keep their forces occupied is a moment Naruto and the others can use to free more people" he adds, scanning the faces of his troops.
"Understood.. We won't let you down" robb says, his grip tightening on the reins of his horse.
"I know you won't... Now.. Let's give them a show they won't forget" jaime said, allowing himself a small smile. Just as the words left his mouth, a deafening boom echoes across the battlefield. Jaime's head snaps up, his eyes widening as he sees a plume of smoke rising from the city walls.
"Incoming!" someone shouts and chaos erupts. The air fills with the whistling of cannonballs as auBerst's defenses roars to life. The once-silent walls now bristle with activity, cannons emerging from hidden emplacements and belching fire and smoke.
"Hold fast!.. This is it men!.. The counterattack is coming!" jaime's voice thunders over the cacophony of battle while wheeling his horse around and facing his troops. The ground shakes as cannonballs slam into the earth around them, throwing up geysers of dirt and stone. Horses whinny in terror, soldiers duck and cover but jaime remain upright, a beacon of calm in the storm of battle.
"Should we fall back a distance?!" robb says, his face pale but determined.
"No.. We hold our ground.. This is exactly what we wanted... Their full attention" jaime said with a shake of his head, his eyes scanning the battlefield. Another volley of cannon fire roars from the walls, this time accompanied by a hail of arrows that darken the sky. Jaime's magical cannons continue their assault, their otherworldly energy beams clashing with the mundane projectiles mid-air in spectacular explosions.
"Shields up!" jaime commands and in an instant, a shimmering barrier of magic springs up around their forces, deflecting the worst of the incoming fire as the sky begins to dark from a storm moving in. Jaime could see movement atop the walls as the dust settles. Figures scurry back and forth, and he could just make out the glint of armor in the cloudy sunlight.
"They're finally mobilizing their troops... Prepare for ground assault!.. Cavalry!.. Ready your charges!" jaime mutters, more to himself than anyone else but growing in volume. The tension in the air is palpable as jaime's forces brace themselves for the coming storm and in the distance, the gates of auBerst begins to groan open. Jaime's mind races while calculating odds and strategies as the first wave of auBerst's defenders began to pour out of the gates. Meanwhile and back within the city walls, chaos reigns. The sounds of battle from outside mingle with the shouts and screams of civilians caught in the crossfire. Amidst this turmoil are cedric, brienne and tia fought tirelessly to protect the fleeing civilians. Cedric's sword flashes in the sunlight as he parries a strike from an auBerst sellsword, "This way!.. Hurry!" he shouts to a group of wide-eyed civilians, gesturing towards a side street.
"There's another group coming from the east" brienne warns, her voice steady despite the chaos around them and she scans the area for threats, using a sellsword she killed as a makeshift shield to tank incoming arrows. Tia is perched on a nearby rooftop and loosing arrow after arrow with deadly accuracy. Each shot found its mark, dropping sellswords before they could reach the fleeing civilians.
"I've got you covered!" tia calls down to her companions, her keen elven eyes never missing a target. As they fought does princess morgan's plan unfold around them. Civilians are guided by trusted members of the resistance, making their way towards predetermined safe zones. The streets were a maze of conflict and escape, with pockets of fighting erupting and dissipating like volatile storms.
"Watch out!" cedric yells, pushing a young mother and her child out of the way as a sellsword charging towards them. His sword meeting the attacker's with a resounding clang and the impact jarring his arms. Brienne is there in an instant with a shoulder check slamming into the sellsword's side and sending him sprawling, "Go!" she urges the woman, who nods gratefully before running towards safety with her child clutched tightly to her chest.
"More coming from the main square!.. At least a dozen!" tia shouts, cutting through the din. Cedric and brienne exchange a quick glance as they were already breathing hard, sweat and grime streaking their faces. Tia charges an arrow with magic to an archway, causing it to crumble and block one of the approaching paths while funneling the enemy. Cedric and brienne prepare for the oncoming wave as they stand shoulder to shoulder, weapons at the ready, a living barrier between the sellswords and the civilians they were sworn to protect. Suddenly there is a low rumble of thunder in the distance and the air grows heavy with moisture, and within moments, raindrops begin to fall from the darkening sky. The rain starts as a light drizzle but quickly intensifying into a steady downpour.
"Be ready Cedric" brienne says, her grip tightening around her sword and her eyes scanning the approaching sellswords through the curtain of rain. She takes a deep breath, feeling the weight of the moment and the cool raindrops on her skin.
"For AuBerst's freedom!" brienne shouts, with a voice that carried over the chaos of battle and the patter of rain. Cedric feels a surge of energy at her cry, the rain soaking through his clothes and hair. He raised his sword high with the blade catching what little sunlight remains through the clouds, "For the White Wolf!" cedric bellows, his voice ringing with fierce determination and spreading naruto's name. Tia hears their cries from her perch above and nocks another arrow. The rain makes her grip slippery but her aim remains true, "For a future without chains!" she adds, her eyes never leaving the approaching enemy, even as raindrops cling to her eyelashes. The trio's shouts seem to electrify the air around them, competing with the sound of rain hitting the streets and rooftops. Civilians who have been cowering in fear look up, a spark of hope igniting in their eyes. Some even took up the cry, their voices joining in a chorus of defiance against their oppressors, growing stronger as if to challenge the storm itself.
"White Wolf!.. White Wolf!" they chant as it spreads through the rain-soaked streets, growing louder with each passing moment, a stark contrast to the gloomy weather. Cedric feels a swell of pride with rainwater streaming down his face. He knows naruto would be embarrassed by such adulation but the impact of his friend's actions is undeniable.
"Even not present.. Naruto can sure inspire people" cedric said to brienne, a small smile playing on his lips despite the dire situation. Brienne nods with her eyes never leaving the approaching sellswords that are barely visible through the sheets of rain, "Let's make sure we live up to that inspiration" she replies with her voice steady and determined, even as her wet blonde hair clings to her face. As the sellswords charge towards them and their feet splashing through rapidly forming puddles, the trio stood their ground. They were bolstered by the chants echoing through the rain-drenched streets, the downpour seeming to wash away their fatigue and renew their resolve. They were no longer just three fighters but were the vanguard of a people's hope, the spark that would ignite a revolution, even in the midst of a storm. [song ends]
シーンブレイク
While cedric, brienne and tia hold the line to save civilians, another battle is unfolding across the city. A group of resistance members are led by the cunning strategist Lyra, moving swiftly through the shadows towards the administrative building as rain pelts the windows. Lyra's dark eyes scan the area as they approach the main offices, "Remember.. Speed and silence are our allies.. We secure the building and hold it until Princess Morgan arrives" she whispers to her team. The group nod as their faces were set with determination. They have trained for this moment, dreamed of it during long nights of planning and preparation. The clash of steel and shouts of men echo from within, "Looks like someone beat us to it.. Let's move!" lyra mutters, her brow furrowed. They surge forward with weapons at the ready and burst through the doors, they find the hall in disarray. Royal guards loyal to the usurper king fighting against a ragtag group of civilians armed with whatever they could find.
"For Princess Morgan!" lyra shouts, her voice cutting through the chaos. Her team springs into action, their well-trained movements turning the tide of the skirmish. Meanwhile and within the castle walls, a different kind of battle is unfolding. Morgan is dressed in an elegant gown that conceals her true intentions, moves swiftly through the corridors. Flanking her were tomoe and ceras, both disguised as handmaidens, their eyes alert for any sign of danger with several others both handmaidens and guards.
"Remember.. We need to secure Mordred quickly.. The distraction won't last forever" morgan whispers, her voice barely audible over the distant sounds of combat.
"Yes Your Highness" tomoe says, nodding and her hand resting inconspicuously on a hidden blade beneath her dress. They round a corner and come face to face with a group of soldiers rushing towards the source of the commotion. Morgan's heart races but maintains her composure, adopting the haughty air of a noblewoman inconvenienced by the chaos.
"You there!.. What is the meaning of this disturbance?!" morgan calls out, her voice ringing with authority. The soldiers hesitates and is clearly torn between their duty but the presence of an important lady of the court.
"M-my lady... There's been an attack.. We're securing the castle" one stammers, standing at rigid attention.
"Then why are you dawdling here?!.. Go secure the castle!.. And send someone to escort us to safety immediately!" morgan snaps, her eyes narrowed. The soldiers snap to attention and bow hastily before hurrying off as their footsteps fade, "Quick thinking Your Highness" ceras murmurs, letting out a breath she hadn't realize she'd been holding.
"We're not safe yet.. Come.. The King's chambers should be this way" morgan replies, her voice low. They move swiftly with their dresses swishing softly against the stone floors. The sounds of battle grow louder as they approach the heart of the castle, where morgan's fighters were creating their diversion. They near the throne room, and morgan slows her pace, her eyes darting from side to side.
"Remember.. We must remain in character.. No matter what we see or hear.. We are nothing more than a noblewoman and her handmaidens seeking safety" she whispers, mainly to tomoe and ceras. Tomoe and ceras nods with their faces carefully composed into masks of concerned servitude with the other handmaidens. Morgan takes a deep breath as she straightens her shoulders and pushes open the heavy doors to the throne room. The scene that greets them is one of barely contained chaos as nobles and courtiers mill about, their faces pale with fear and confusion. The opulent room that is usually a picture of decorum and order, now buzzes with frantic whispers and heated arguments.
"This is outrageous!.. How dare these rebels attack our city?!.. Where are our defenses?!" a portly nobleman bellows, his face red with indignation.
"It's not just the attack from outside.. I've heard there are riots in the factory district.. The workers are revolting!" a lady in an elaborate headdress hissed.
"And what of this Blackfish's uprising?!.. They say He's rallying the people against us!" another courtier adds, his voice trembling. Morgan sweeps her gaze across the room and spots mordred, lounging on the golden throne. His posture is relaxed, almost bored, despite the chaos unfolding around him and as their eyes meet does a sneer curl his lips, his eyes glinting with malice.
"Ah sister dear.. Come to seek shelter from the storm you've brought upon us" mordred calls out, his voice dripping with mock affection. Morgan feels tomoe and ceras tense beside her but she keeps her composure. She glides forward with practiced grace and her face a mask of confused innocence, "Whatever do you mean brother" morgan asks, her voice steady despite the racing of her heart. Mordred's sneer deepens as he leans forward, "Don't play coy with me Morgan.. You think I don't know about your little... Friends" he says, his fingers drumming an impatient rhythm on the armrest of the throne. A hush falls over the room with the panicked whispers of the nobles dying down as they sense the tension between the royal siblings. Morgan could feel their eyes on her, hungry for gossip even in the midst of crisis.
"I'm afraid I don't understand... I've been in my chambers all morning.. What friends are you speaking of" morgan replies, her voice cool and collected. She takes another step forward with tomoe, ceras and her people following closely behind. Mordred's eyes narrow dangerously as he stands up suddenly, causing several nearby courtiers to flinch but with deliberate slowness, descends the steps of the dais and never taking his eyes off morgan.
"The White Wolf.. The Blackfish.. The rebel scum tearing our city apart.. Your... Friends" mordred spits, stopping just a few feet from her. Morgan's heart hammers in her chest but she didn't let her fear show and instead raises an eyebrow, "Really Mordred.. You're letting your paranoia get the better of you.. Again" she says, adopting an air of aristocratic disdain.
"Paranoia?!.. Is it paranoia when our city burns.. When our walls are under siege.. When our own workers rise up against us" mordred hisses, a muscle twitching in his jaw. He takes another step closer and his face inches from morgan's, "Tell me sister.. Where were you really this morning" morgan hisses, as morgan smells the wine on his breath and can see the barely contained fury in his eyes. Morgan is about to open her mouth to respond but before she could, the doors to the throne room burst open as his guard stumbles in, his armor dented and his face streaked with blood.
"Your Majesty!.. The administrative building... It's fallen.. The rebels... They've taken it" the guard gasps, dropping to one knee.
"What?!.. How is that possible?!" mordred roars, whirling around and his face contorting with rage. Mordred's attention is diverted as morgan exchanges a quick glance with tomoe and ceras. They nod imperceptibly and their hands move to hidden weapons beneath their dresses. The chaos in the throne room escalate as nobles begin to panic, some rushing for the exits while others crowd around mordred, demanding answers and protection. Morgan takes a step back in the confusion, preparing for what she knows must come next. Mordred turns back to her and his eyes blaze with accusation, "This is your doing!" he snarls, his hand instinctively reaching for a weapon that was never there.
"You've betrayed us all!" mordred continues, his voice rising to a shout. He takes a menacing step towards morgan, his hands balling into fists at his sides. The nobles around them gasp and retreat, creating a small circle of space around the royal siblings. Morgan stands her ground with her chin lifted defiantly, "Betrayed?!.. I've done nothing but serve this kingdom brother.. Perhaps it's time you looked at your own actions" she asks, her voice steady despite the hammering of her heart. Mordred's face contorts with rage and lunges forward, his hands reaching for morgan's throat but morgan is ready. Years of secret training kicks in and she reacts with lightning speed as her fist shoots out, connecting solidly with mordred's nose with a sickening crunch. The usurper king stumbles backward, blood streaming down his face, his eyes wide with shock and pain.
"You... You struck me!" mordred sputters, his voice nasally and filled with disbelief.
"I'll do more than that brother.. I've come to take back what's rightfully mine" morgan declares, her eyes blazing with determination and standing tall. Ceras and tomoe spring into action with swift movements and tear away the outer layers of their dresses, revealing form-fitting combat attire underneath. The ripping sound echoes through the suddenly silent throne room, drawing gasps from the shocked nobles. Ceras' eyes scans the room with her posture tense and ready for battle but her gaze stops on the figure of angron.
"I see now.. You were the two I sensed" angron said, his voice a low rumble that send shivers down the spines of those present.
"Yes.. I am Ceras Bulga.. Daughter of the Dragon Belserion" ceras says, her voice ringing clear and strong. The name seems to hang in the air and is heavy with significance. The nobles begin to murmur among themselves with fear and awe mingling in their voices. Angron grits his teeth and his face twisting with anger, "Belserion" he spits the name like a curse. His eyes are burning with an otherworldly fire, sweeping across the room and finally settling on tomoe.
"We come to stop you Angron" tomoe declares, her posture radiating quiet confidence and her voice calm but filled with resolve. Angron's eyes narrow with a mix of confusion and fury crossing his face, "And who might you be" he hisses, his voice dripping with venom. A small and almost imperceptible smile plays at the corners of tomoe's lips, "I am Muteki Shin.. But I go by Tomoe now" she replies, her voice carrying a hint of amusement. The effect of her words is immediate and dramatic as angron's eyes widen, a flicker of recognition and disbelief passing across his face. The throne room is eerily silent with the tension palpable in the air and without warning. Angron's demeanor changes with his body tensed, muscles coiling like springs ready to unleash. The air around him seems to shimmer and distort as if reality itself is bending under the weight of his rage.
"You?!..." angron hisses, a wave of killer intent explodes from him and it is so potent that several nearby nobles stumble backward while gasping for air.
"Impossible.. You cannot be here!" angron snarls, his voice barely human. Ceras steps forward and her eyes are blazing with determination, "I brought Tomoe with me to stop you and your cult Angron" she declares, her voice ringing with conviction. The throne room erupts into chaos with nobles scrambling away from the growing confrontation, their faces pale with fear. Mordred is still reeling from morgan's unexpected strike and staggers back, his eyes darting between angron and the newcomers. Angron's face is contorted with rage and his muscles bulging beneath his clothes. Tomoe and ceras stand their ground and unfazed by angron's display of power, "We're here to end this Angron.. Your cult's reign of terror stops today" ceras says, her eyes never leaving the cultist leader.
"I agree" morgan says, sensing the shift in the room. She reaches down and tears the hem of her elegant dress, the sound of ripping fabric echoing through the suddenly silent throne room. The nobles gasp at morgan's actions and she reveals several gleaming blades strapped to her thigh. Each weapon is sleek and deadly, a testament to the princess's hidden strength and preparation. She grasps one of the blades, its polished surface catching the light as she brings it up in a defensive stance.
"It's over Mordred.. Surrender now and we can end this without further bloodshed" morgan calls out to her brother, her voice steady and resolute. The blade in her hand seems to emphasize her words, a physical manifestation of her determination. Mordred's eyes darts wildly around the room, searching for allies, for an escape but he finds only fear and confusion in the faces of the nobles. His gaze settles on angron with a mixture of desperation and anger in his eyes, "Do something!.. Destroy them!" mordred shouts, clutching his face.
"With pleasure" angron growls, his lips curling into a snarl and his eyes burning with an otherworldly fire. No sooner do the words left his mouth than a bone-chilling scream echoes through the throne room. One of the cultists standing near angron suddenly doubles over, his body contorting unnaturally. The man's screams turn guttural as his flesh begins to ripple and shift, bones cracking and reforming beneath his skin. The nobles and courtiers who have been frozen in shock now break into panicked cries. They scramble towards the exits, pushing and shoving in their desperation to escape. The throne room was once a symbol of regal power, descending into chaos. More cultists begin to transform, their bodies twisting into grotesque parodies of their former selves. Limbs elongate and bend at impossible angles, skin hardened into scales or split open to reveal glistening, inhuman flesh beneath. The air fills with the sickening sounds of breaking bones and tearing muscle.
"What is going on?!" mordred says, his face pale with terror. His eyes dart between the transforming cultists and the resolute figures of morgan, ceras and tomoe. With a final and desperate glance at angron, turns and flees, pushing past the panicking nobles in his haste to escape.
"Mordred!.. I'm going after him.. He can't be allowed to escape!" morgan shouts, her voice cutting through the cacophony of screams and inhuman growls with her eyes on ceras and tomoe, her eyes blazing with determination. Ceras nods with her stance shifting as she prepares for battle and draws her swords, "Go.. We'll handle things here" she said, her eyes never leaving the monstrous forms emerging from the transformations.
"Be careful Your Highness.. We don't know what other surprises Mordred might have in store" tomoe says, her hand tightening on the hilt of her sword. Morgan gives a curt nod before darting towards the door mordred disappeared through. Her blade gleams in her hand as she weaves through the fleeing nobles, her eyes fixed on her target. Ceras and tomoe turn their full attention to angron and his transformed cultists. The creatures that now stand before them were nightmarish amalgamations of human and beast, their eyes glowing with the same otherworldly fire as their master's.
"Behold the true power of our faith.. This is but a taste of what awaits this world" angron booms, his voice echoing unnaturally in the now-empty throne room and a cruel smile playing on his lips. Ceras' eyes narrow with her body coiled like a spring ready to unleash, "Your madness ends here Angron" she declares, her voice steady despite the horror before her.
"You've corrupted these people.. Twisted them into abominations.. We won't let you spread this corruption any further" tomoe said, her voice filled with quiet fury and her blade sliding silently from its sheath.
"You think you can stop us?!" angron declares, his voice deep and menacing with deep laughter. As if on cue do the transformed cultists lunge forward, their misshapen bodies moving with unnatural speed. Ceras and tomoe spring into action, their movements fluid and precise as they meet the onslaught head-on. The clash of steel against claw and bone echo through the throne room, punctuated by the inhuman screeches of the cultists and the determined grunts of ceras and tomoe. Despite being outnumbered, the two women move as one, covering each other's blind spots and striking with deadly efficiency. Angron watches from the dais as they fought, his eyes burning with malevolent glee.
