"I'm telling you, Tails, something must've happened with Amy," Sonic said, arms crossed as he paced back and forth.
After the visit at Amy's house, he used his super speed to go at Tails workshop which is quite a fair distance away from any civilisation and for good reason. No matter how much Sonic cares and trusts the little fox, even he admits that his friend's experiments and science projects can cause quite the ruckus to say the least, not mentioning it's fair share of explosions.
"Hmm… maybe she's just trying to find the perfect outfit," Tails suggested, pausing his tinkering on an engine. "You know how she is, Sonic."
Sonic stopped pacing and shook his head. "That's the thing, buddy. She didn't say she needed more time or anything like that. She straight-up said she couldn't see me."
Tails froze. His wrench slipped from his fingers, clattering loudly onto the floor.
"What?!" His eyes widened in disbelief. "Amy turning you down?"
"Yeah," Sonic frowned. "Doesn't that sound totally off to you?"
"More like impossible!" Tails exclaimed. He crouched down, grabbing his wrench, still visibly shaken. "Amy refusing a date with you, the one that planned it? It's completely illogical!"
"Yeah, tell me about it," Sonic muttered, crossing his arms. His foot tapped rapidly against the floor, a restless habit he couldn't shake. "I mean, I get that Amy can be unpredictable sometimes, but she was excited when I asked her out. You should've seen her, she was over the moon! No way that's normal."
Tails frowned, rubbing his chin. "Did she sound… scared?"
Sonic hesitated. He replayed the moment in his mind, Amy's voice, that slight tremble, the urgency in her words.
"Now that you mention it… yeah. She was scared." His frown deepened. "But why? Scared of me? That doesn't make sense."
Tails' expression turned serious. "If she's scared, then something must've happened. Where was she the last time you two spoke?"
Thinking for a moment, the blue hedgehog answered. "Last time, she said she was about to bake a few muffins to bring back to her folks."
Tails nodded. "Then that's the place were we must start. Maybe her parents know something about it."
Sonic felt a strange unease settle in his chest. "Yeah… something just doesn't feel right about this."
Without wasting another second, Sonic grabbed Tails and sped toward the woods, leaving only a blue blur in their wake.
It didn't take long before they arrived at Amy's so-called family home, only this time, it wasn't the familiar cozy sight that the blue hedgehog remembered when he passed years ago when he was just a kid.
The house was damaged...
The once-pristine white walls were cracked, the door barely hanging onto its hinges. A portion of the red roof had caved in slightly, as if something—or someone had been violently thrown into it, not mentioning the flowers on the ground that were trampled.
Sonic's eyes widened. "Whoa. What happened here?"
Tails, recovering from the sudden speed, took a hesitant step forward, eyes scanning the destruction. "Sonic… this looks quite recent."
Sonic's stomach twisted. Amy was here earlier today. If this had happened while she was around… He didn't bother knocking and pushed the door open, only for it to creak and fall off its last remaining hinge, slamming onto the floor with a heavy thud.
Inside, the damage was just as bad. Furniture had been knocked over, and there, right against the far wall was a massive, human-shaped dent in the wood. As if something big had been smashed straight into it.
Sonic pointed at it. "That's Eggman-shaped if I've ever seen one."
"But why would Eggman be doing in this place?" Tails muttered.
The blue hedgehog clenched his fists. "That's what we're gonna find out."
Amy had been here. Eggman had been here. And now, Amy was terrified and refusing to see him.
Whatever had gone down in this house…
It changed something.
