Xiaolin Showdown: Dragons of the Past
Chapter 1 – Unveiling Destiny
In the serene and radiant Xiaolin Temple, bathed in the warm glow of a clear day, the sounds of the training warriors filled the courtyard. Their disciplined movements and focused energy echoed through the air. As the sunlight cast long shadows across the ancient walls, a sense of accomplishment and growth permeated the sacred grounds.
The courtyard of the Xiaolin Temple buzzed with energy as Raimundo took charge of the training session. As the newly appointed leader, he sought to push his fellow monks to new heights, encouraging them to unleash the full potential of their elemental powers.
Raimundo: "Alright, team! Let's kick things up a notch! Channel your elements and show me what you've got!"
Kimiko, her eyes ablaze with determination, focused her energy as she conjured fireballs in her hands.
Kimiko: "Wudai Mars Fire!"
With precision and control, she launched them towards targets scattered across the training area, each burst into flames hitting its mark with accuracy.
Kimiko: "Bullseye! I'm turning up the heat!"
Raimundo: "Omi, Go!"
Omi jumps up and aim at the burning targets.
Omi: "Wudai Neptune Water!
As water is conjured from around him, it lashes out against the flaming targets, hitting them with precision and putting out the fire, leaving only a smoky husk of a target.
Omi: "Behold, my wonderful water skills! In time, I shall harness the power of the ocean itself!"
Raimundo: "Clay, you're up!"
Clay, in his grounded and steady manner, focuses on his Earth skills.
Clay: "Wudai Crater Earth!"
He stomped his foot onto the ground, causing the earth to respond to his command. The ground beneath him rumbled as rocky boulders emerged, Clay punched each boulder sending them up straight at each target, effectively destroying them completely, showcasing his mastery over the earth.
Clay: "Yeehaw! Ain't no boulder gonna slow me down! I reckon I'll be movin' mountains soon enough!"
As Raimundo comes closer to his friends he grins.
Raimundo: "The villains can try whatever they want, but there is no way to stop us now"
As the training session continued, the courtyard became a flurry of elemental power and determination. Raimundo's guidance and the support of their fellow monks fueled their progress, each of them pushing their limits to unlock the true potential of their unique abilities.
Under the watchful eye of Master Fung, the monks displayed their growth, their dedication shining through their every move. With each passing moment, they inched closer to becoming true Xiaolin Dragons, protectors of balance and defenders against evil.
Master Fung: "Young Xiaolin warriors, gather up in the main chamber"
The sound of Master Fung's gentle voice carried across the courtyard, signaling the end of the training session. The monks quickly composed themselves, returning to their respective positions, a twinkle of amusement still lingering in their eyes. The four young warriors, Omi, Kimiko, Raimundo, and Clay, eagerly responded to their master's summons. With reverence, they settled before him, their eyes filled with a mixture of anticipation and respect.
Master Fung began his address, his voice carrying the weight of wisdom and pride.
Master Fung: "My dear students, It has already passed four years since your journey began, and I stand before you today to commend your remarkable progress."
Dojo the dragon, who is sitting in his sand box at the corner of the room, starts crying his eyes out frantically.
Dojo: "Oh! Look at you all… You're all so grown up now! It feels like yesterday you were just little whiny monks complaining about your chores, but now you're warriors! My heart can't handle this!"
Master Fung and the monks stare at Dojo, who clears his throat, containing himself.
Dojo: "Ahem. Sorry, please continue."
Master Fung's voice resonated with a calm and authoritative tone as he addressed the young warriors, his eyes filled with pride and wisdom.
Master Fung: "You have endured many battles against the forces of evil, overcome many adversities, and with each trial you have passed, you have grown stronger, both as individuals, and as a team, I am proud of you"
The words of their revered master evoked a range of emotions within the young warriors. Omi felt a surge of pride, reflecting on his own progress and newfound wisdom. Kimiko expressed gratitude for the invaluable teachings that had shaped her into a formidable Xiaolin Dragon of Fire. Raimundo, now a Shoku Warrior and the leader of the team, felt immense appreciation for the transformative journey that had led them to this moment. And Clay, the gentle giant, cherished the bonds of friendship that had blossomed amidst their shared trials and triumphs.
Omi, with a sense of accomplishment, spoke up first.
Omi: "Master Fung, I am proud of the knowledge I have gained and the strength I have attained. My journey as a Xiaolin Dragon has been a truly enlightening experience."
Kimiko, filled with gratitude, expressed her appreciation.
Kimiko: "Thank you, Master Fung, for guiding us on the path of the Xiaolin. Your teachings have empowered us, and I am grateful for the opportunity to grow and protect the world from evil."
Raimundo, now the leader of the team, shared his sentiments.
Raimundo: "Master Fung, I want to express my deepest gratitude. The journey we have undertaken has transformed me, and I am honored to lead this team of talented warriors. Together, we have faced great challenges and emerged stronger."
Clay, the gentle and steadfast member of the team, chimed in.
Clay: "Master Fung, I reckon I owe everything to my friends here. They've been there for me through thick and thin, and I'm mighty thankful for their support. We've come a long way, and it's been an honor to fight alongside them."
Master Fung nodded, acknowledging their words with a serene smile.
Master Fung: "Your dedication, perseverance, and unity have brought you to this moment. The path of the Xiaolin warrior is one of continuous growth and discovery. Remember, there are new adventures awaiting you, and the challenges that lie ahead will test your resolve. But with your bond as a team and the lessons you have learned, I have no doubt that you will triumph."
As the echoes of Master Fung's words lingered in the chamber, the atmosphere was charged with a profound sense of accomplishment and unity. The young warriors sat in quiet reflection, their hearts filled with gratitude for the experiences that had shaped them. Little did they know that another great adventure awaited them, one that would test their bonds and challenge their strengths. But for now, in the hallowed halls of the Xiaolin Temple, they basked in the glow of their achievements and looked forward to the uncertain yet thrilling path that lay ahead.
. . .
Later, as the sun settles down on the horizon, Omi, Kimiko, and Clay found themselves sitting on a tranquil balcony of the Xiaolin Temple, overlooking the vast landscape that stretched before them. The setting sun painted the sky with hues of orange and gold, casting a warm glow upon their faces. As they settled into their seats, a sense of nostalgia and remembrance enveloped them.
Omi looked out into the horizon with a contemplative expression. His eyes sparkled with a mix of curiosity and wisdom earned through their arduous journey.
Omi: "Reflecting upon our adventures, I can't help but marvel at the incredible experiences we've shared. From the pursuit of Shen Gong Wu to confronting powerful villains, each encounter has shaped us in remarkable ways."
Kimiko nodded in agreement, her eyes alight with memories of their battles.
Kimiko: "Absolutely! It's been a whirlwind of challenges, but we've grown stronger with every test we've faced. I still remember the intensity of our showdowns, the rush of adrenaline as we fought."
Clay leaned back against a pillar, a gentle smile tugging at his lips.
Clay: "Ain't no doubt about it, y'all. We've seen some tough times, but we've also found a way to overcome it all, supporting one another. We've become a family."
As they spoke, memories of their victories and setbacks danced in their minds, an adventure filled with laughter, determination, and the unwavering spirit of the Xiaolin warriors.
Omi: "And let us not forget the wisdom imparted by Master Fung. His teachings have guided us through the most challenging of moments, instilling in us the virtues of discipline, compassion, and balance."
Kimiko nodded, her expression filled with appreciation.
Kimiko: "Master Fung's guidance has been invaluable. He has taught us so much, the importance of inner strength, how to focus our minds, and how to clean an entire temple in less than two hours."
She smirks at the last part.
Clay chimed in.
Clay: "True words, Kimiko. Master Fung's teachings have shaped us into warriors with purpose. I'm grateful for his wisdom and the path he has set us on."
A brief silence falls as they still gaze the landscape beyond the temple, then Omi breaks it.
Omi: "We've been through so much now, I wonder what we can expect to come at us."
Clay: "Whatever comes we will be ready partner."
Kimiko: "Yeah, I mean, we defeated all sorts of enemies by now, from a Bean to a Cyclops, what else should we worry about?"
Omi: "You are indeed right my friends, whatever comes, has no chance against the four of us."
As the three friends sat in the serene ambiance of the balcony, their conversation was a testament to their growth and the unbreakable bond forged through countless trials. Raimundo walked by the balcony, a chocolate bar in his hands. Spotting his friends engrossed in conversation, he puts the chocolate in his pocket. Clay waved him over with a welcoming smile.
Clay: "Hey there, Raimundo! Come join us, we're just reminiscing about our adventures."
Raimundo flashed a grin and happily accepted the invitation. Taking a seat between Omi and Kimiko, he set his lunch aside, eager to engage in the lighthearted conversation.
Raimundo: "Well, well, what's all this talk about our epic battles? Are we comparing notes now?"
Omi chuckled, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
Omi: "Indeed, Raimundo. We were just discussing our experiences in a more relaxed manner, free from the weight of destiny and the impending doom of evil forces."
Kimiko playfully nudged Raimundo, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Kimiko: "Oh, come on, Rai. Don't pretend you don't enjoy sharing your daring escapades and showing off your wind powers."
Raimundo grinned, a hint of pride evident in his voice.
Raimundo: "Alright, alright, you got me there. But hey, it's not all about me, you guys have pulled off some incredible moves too! Remember that time we took down Chase Young's giant winged snake together?"
Clay joined in, his booming laughter filling the air.
Clay: "Ah, that was a sight to behold! The way we coordinated our powers, combining wind, fire, earth, and water, it was like watching a well-oiled machine in action!"
Omi gets up proudly.
Omi: "Ah yes, the first time we used our Wudai powers. I looked most stupendous in that moment."
He says as he mimics the punches and kicks in the air, Raimundo rolls his eyes.
Raimundo: "Of course you did Omi."
Kimiko: "You guys remember Yin Yang World craziness?"
The three boys make noises as they remember it not too fondly.
Raimundo: "I still have nightmares of that weird place."
Clay: "I still don't comprehend the rules of that world, and I'm not interested."
Omi thinks hard to find something to remember.
Omi: "Remember when Raimundo turned evil and gave Wuya her body back?"
Raimundo slaps his own face at this mention, Kimiko barely holds a laugh.
Raimundo: "That's waaaaay in the past Omi, and don't forget you turned evil too!"
Omi: "Yes but even evil I looked amazing and was unbeatable, just like now."
Raimundo: "Yeah, but I gave Wuya her powers and had an entire castle of fun stuff for my liking, and I defeated you all too"
Kimiko intervenes.
Kimiko: "You boys aren't seriously trying to decide who's was the better evil turned monk are you?"
Raimundo and Omi share a look then starts laughing out loud at the subject, Kimiko rolls her eyes thinking 'Boys..' but also smiles at the fun they are having.
Clay: "That's already water under the bridge, partners, but might I remember Kimiko and I never turned evil like you two"
Clay smiles proudly.
Kimiko: "Oh yeah, If I turned evil, you would have no chance against my evil heylin fire!"
She states that sarcastically and waving her hands around as if trying to spook them, as everyone laughs up, until silence comes back again as they all drift into their memories.
Omi: "I'm glad I have you all as my friends."
Kimiko gives a sympathetic look at him.
Kimiko: "Aww Omi, I'm also glad to have you boys there for me"
Raimundo smirks.
Raimundo: "Come on guys, what we will do now? Make each other friendship collars of candy?"
Everyone looks at him, and he nervously speaks.
Raimundo: "Alright, okay, I'm glad I have come to this temple and met you lot, satisfied? Good."
Clay chuckles.
Clay: "I reckon you guys are my family, and I will move mountains to protect y'all. Literally"
They all chuckle at this heartwarming moment. Their conversation flowed effortlessly, weaving tales of their triumphs and near-misses, but now with a sense of camaraderie and shared memories. The weight of their responsibilities momentarily lifted, allowing them to relish in the simple joy of each other's company. They laughed, exchanged friendly banter, and occasionally traded playful jabs about their individual heroic moments.
In that moment perched upon the balcony of the Xiaolin Temple, they were not just warriors but also friends, relishing the simplicity and joy of each other's presence. Little did they know that their bond would be tested once again, as a new threat loomed on the horizon, ready to challenge everything they held dear.
As the moon rose high in the sky, casting a gentle glow upon their faces, the Xiaolin warriors started to yawn and as the weight of the day's training and chores caught up to them, Omi excused himself from the balcony.
Omi: "*Yawns* Excuse me my friends, but I need to rest my tiger instincts for now, as tomorrow is a new day in our quest to become dragons, have a good night."
Omi gets up and waves to his friends as he retreats to his room. Clay, stretching up his arms, also decided it was time to call it a day.
Clay: "Well, y'all, I reckon it's time for some shut-eye. Are y'all coming?"
Raimundo looks around at the now dimly lit landscape.
Raimundo: "Nah, Clay, I'll stay here for a little while."
Kimiko glances knowingly at Raimundo, narrowing her eyes.
Kimiko: "Me too, I just want to enjoy the night breeze and soak in the peacefulness. We'll catch up with you later."
Clay chuckled warmly, his genuine affection for his friends evident in his voice.
Clay: "Alright then, you two. Don't stay up too late now. The world might need our Xiaolin warrior prowess bright and early."
With a nod and a wave, Clay bid them goodnight and made his way towards his quarters. As the sound of his footsteps faded, Raimundo and Kimiko were left alone on the balcony.
Kimiko, with a sly grin, leaned back against the railing, a playful glint in her eyes.
Kimiko: "Come on now Rai, share it with me."
Raimundo raises an eyebrow, trying to make an innocent face.
Raimundo: "What? What are talking about Kimiko?"
Kimiko: "Don't play dumb, you know how hard it is to get chocolate on this temple, everything we eat here has no flavor."
Raimundo can't help but laugh as she left him with no choice.
Raimundo: "Okay, okay, you got me, here take it, it's your favorite."
He takes the chocolate bar from his pocket, opening the bundle, breaking the bar in half and giving it to her. She takes the half bar excitedly as she already takes a bite at it.
Kimiko: "Hmm…Chocolate with cookie pieces? It really is my favorite, but I though you liked more dark chocolate."
Raimundo shrugs.
Raimundo: "I do… But I knew you would find out so I got the one you liked, you are like a bloodhound sniffing around for sugar."
Kimiko lifts her eyebrow while chewing a piece of chocolate, and makes an offended face.
Kimiko: "Hey! I do not…"
Then she shakes her head and chuckles.
Kimiko: "Rai, only you can be sweet and a jerk at the same time, I'll pretend you did not just compare me to a dog and say… thank you."
Raimundo grins.
Raimundo: "You're welcome."
As they both sit in the railing of the balcony, savoring their chocolate pieces, Kimiko can't help but be happy for Raimundo, ever since he became a Wudai warrior she saw how hard he worked, and how much he evolved up until ascending to the rank of Shoku and becoming their leader, he became more attentive, caring and comprehensive, not just with her but she already caught him not mocking Omi when he fails a slang, his rebellious and teasing side comes out every now and then when he feels like pranking someone, but it only reminded her that he still is Raimundo, she was glad for him.
Kimiko eyes light up as she playfully taunts him.
Kimiko: "So, Raimundo, I must admit, your wind powers have come a long way. Remember when you used to struggle so hard with those basic little gusts of wind?"
Raimundo raised an eyebrow, a playful smirk tugging at his lips.
Raimundo: "Oh, really? And what about your fire skills? Last I recall, you set your own hair ablaze during one of our early training sessions."
Kimiko's cheeks flushed slightly as she playfully hits Raimundo's arm.
Kimiko: "Hey! That was a minor incident! Besides, I've mastered my flames since then, thank you very much."
Raimundo chuckled, his laughter dancing through the tranquil night air.
Raimundo: "Yeah, yeah, I gotta give it to you, Kimiko. You've become a real fire-wielding force. But remember, I'm the wind beneath your fiery wings."
Kimiko rolled her eyes, a smile playing at the corners of her lips.
Kimiko: "Oh, please. Don't let that ego of yours soar too high. You know we're a team, right?"
As they both take another bite of the chocolate, they exchange a playful yet genuine gaze, the bond between them radiating with unspoken words. In that moment, beneath the moonlit sky, their lighthearted talk was a testament to the deep connection forged through their shared experiences. The tranquility of the temple grounds embraced their laughter and whispered promises of new adventures yet to come. And as they stood on that balcony, their laughter mingling with the rustle of the wind, they knew that, no matter what darkness loomed on the horizon, they would face it together, their spirits as bright as the moon above.
A sudden chill seemed to seep into the air, causing Kimiko to shiver involuntarily. She rubbed her hands together, feeling an unusual coldness that seemed to linger within her fingertips. The discomfort grew, as the element of fire was at odds with the icy touch she now experienced.
Kimiko: "I... I think I'll call it a night. This cold is getting to me."
Raimundo, ever observant, noticed her discomfort and nodded in understanding, he always noticed that when she's feeling cold, she rubs her hands, he assumed she probably felt the most cold there.
Raimundo: "Sure, Kimiko. You should get some rest. We've had a long day."
As Kimiko rose from her seat and started to walk, she stops mid-way and turns to face Raimundo with a sweet smile.
Kimiko: "Thanks for the chocolate Rai, have a good night sleep, see you in the morning."
Raimundo nods and she starts walking her way towards her quarters, but he couldn't help but watch her retreating figure with a wistful longing in his eyes. There was a certain warmth that radiated from her presence, and a part of him yearned for her company.
Once she was out of sight, Raimundo sighed softly to himself, contemplating the complexities of his emotions. He knew that their friendship had always been strong, a bond forged through shared experiences and unwavering support. But lately, he couldn't help but wonder if there was something more, something that went beyond mere friendship.
Raimundo: "Ugh, no time for this right now, stop it Raimundo."
He tells himself, shaking off his thoughts. Raimundo rose from his seat, his footsteps echoing softly in the empty corridor as he made his way towards his own room. The night was quiet, and as he settled in his bed, his mind filled with dreams of future adventures and the uncertainties that lay ahead.
In the depths of his thoughts, Raimundo couldn't ignore the lingering question that tugged at his heart. As he drifted off to sleep, his dreams were tinged with a mixture of hope and apprehension, wondering what the future held not just for him as a Xiaolin warrior, but for the bonds he cherished with his fellow monks, especially the enigmatic fire-wielding Kimiko.
. . .
The next day.
As the golden rays of the morning sun stretched across the Xiaolin Temple, the tranquil atmosphere was interrupted by the sudden arrival of Dojo, the lovable and comedic green dragon. With a frantic expression etched on his scaly face, he slithered through the courtyard, his voice echoing through the air.
Dojo: "Shen Gong Wu alert! Shen Gong Wu alert!"
The monks, in the midst of their preparations for the morning training session, immediately halted their activities. A spark of excitement flickered in their eyes as the prospect of a new adventure filled the air. Months of peaceful tranquility had left them yearning for the thrill of battle and the quest for ancient artifacts.
Omi, ever eager for the chance to showcase his skills, straightened his stance, ready to spring into action.
Omi: "Finally! A new Shen Gong Wu! I have been waiting for this moment!"
Kimiko's eyes sparkled with anticipation as she prepares herself for the unknown challenges that awaits them.
Kimiko: "It's about time! I've missed the thrill of the hunt. Let's go claim that Shen Gong Wu!"
Raimundo's smirk grew wider as he sensed the surge of energy in the air, his adventurous spirit ignited.
Raimundo: "Alright, guys! This is what we've been waiting for. Time to put our skills to the test!"
Clay, ever steady and unyielding, cracked his knuckles, ready to face any obstacle that crossed their path.
Clay: "Well, it's about darn time! Let's saddle up and see what kind of trouble we can find."
The monks quickly gathered their belongings and followed Dojo to the scroll room to check what the new Shen Gong Wu is, a newfound determination etched upon their faces as they arrive at the sacred scroll room, a place brimming with ancient knowledge and hidden secrets. With a mischievous glint in his eyes, Dojo scuttled over to the magical scroll in the center of the room, his tiny claws gripping the edges of it as he opens it up with exaggerated flair.
Dojo: "Behold, the mystical scroll of Shen Gong Wu! Let's see what we've got this time."
As Dojo opens the scroll he reads out loud.
Dojo: "Ah! The Shadowstrike Blade. This Shen Gong Wu is… is… huh? The… Shadowstrike Blade? I don't remember this one…"
Raimundo: "How you don't remember this one? You hid all of them with Grand Master Dashi, where is this one?"
Dojo suddenly seems lost as he scans the intricate drawing and mystical symbols, his eyes widened with surprise and confusion, the center of the scroll has no animation, just a black scimitar-like sword standing still.
Dojo: "Of course I hid all of them, I know where this one is, just give me a minute okay? Now… Where did I put it? Did I hide it under my scales? No, that's not right... Did I bury it in a pile of fortune cookies? Or maybe I used it as a toothpick? Oh boy, my memory is slipping faster than a greased pig!"
The monks exchanged amused glances, suppressing their laughter as Dojo's comical antics played out before them. Omi couldn't help but interject with a hint of teasing in his voice.
Omi: "Dojo, perhaps you should keep a better inventory of the Shen Gong Wu. We can't have them disappearing on us."
Dojo scratched his head, scales ruffling in confusion.
Dojo: "You're right, Omi. My brain has more gaps than a broken bridge. I'll have to start writing things down... on the back of my scales, maybe?"
Kimiko stifled a giggle, a mischievous glint in her eyes.
Kimiko: "Oh, Dojo, your scatterbrained acts always bring a smile to our faces. But let's focus on the task at hand. We need to find the Shadowstrike Blade and ensure it doesn't fall into the wrong hands."
Dojo nodded, determination replacing his confusion.
Dojo: "Right you are, Kimiko! I'll track down that sneaky Shen Gong Wu and put it back where it belongs. And maybe, just maybe, I'll write myself a note to remember where I put it this time!"
Raimundo rolls his eyes at the forgetful tiny dragon.
Raimundo: "Sure Dojo, now what the scroll says about its power?"
Dojo looks back down at the scroll and analyses its writing.
Dojo: "Hmm. Let's see, Shadowstrike Blade… Possesses the ability to envelop the area around its wielder in an all-encompassing shroud of impenetrable darkness… blah blah blah, ethereal smoke… malevolent aura… clouds the minds of its targets… It's got a large description here… Infiltrate the thoughts and memories of those ensnared by the blade's dark power… blah blah blah… Allows the bearer to harness the profound essence of darkness itself… Yikes..."
The monks exchange confused glances.
Omi: "This Shen Gong Wu looks kind of unsettling…"
Clay: "I reckon I've never seen so many dark, darkness, and malevolent words in a Shen Gong Wu description before."
Dojo: "There is some kind of warning written in here, but I can't read it… Dashi never had a good handwriting when he's nervous. I always told him to go to a class or something but did he listen to me? Noo."
Raimundo: "Yeah. Whatever, as long it is in our hands, the world is safe right, so let's go get it."
Kimiko: "Dojo, can you sniff it out?"
Dojo closes the scroll and starts slithering out of the room with the monks behind him.
Dojo: "Of course my dear, that's why old Dojo is here, let's go outside and start this quest."
As they reach the courtyard, Dojo enlarges himself, becoming many times his tiny size, the monks hop onto his back, ready for the flight.
And they set off on their next adventure, they became a flurry of excitement and anticipation. The echoes of determination filled the air, a testament to the unbreakable spirit of the Xiaolin warriors as they embraced the challenges that lay ahead. The sun shone brightly overhead, casting its warm glow upon their path, as the monks readied themselves for the thrill of the hunt and the pursuit of ancient power.
Thank you very much for reading until here, there is a lot more to come by.
Scenes of the next chapter:
Clay runs his fingers over a finely crafted artifact that looks like a puzzle box, awe evident in his voice.
Clay: "I reckon we stumbled upon the hidden secrets of the Xiaolin legacy right here, fellas."
. . .
As they began searching the chamber, their concentration was interrupted by the distinct sound of little helicopter blades. Kimiko couldn't help but slap her forehead in annoyance.
Kimiko: "Aw no, not him again."
. . .
Kimiko furrows her brow, her eyes reflecting a flicker of concern.
Kimiko: "There's something... unsettling about this blade. I can't quite put my finger on it, but it's like a weight in the air."
. . .
A familiar and undeniable presence makes itself known, causing a collective pause among the warriors.
The voice resonates from behind them, his words carrying an unsettling warning.
?: "I would not touch that if I were you."
Bonus Fact: In the manuscript, chapter 1 had around 800 words... It consisted mainly of the Shen Gong Wu reveal part, but when editing it, I tried to improve it and soon ideas flowed in and pretty much everything else was added.
