Ch 3 Ancient Rivals, Ancient Battle
It was a quiet Weekend Morning in Sanjo City in the Potter Household. Helena was drinking her Tea while watching the News on the TV.
The black-haired Woman heard Footsteps nearby, she looked to see who made the Footsteps. Coming from the Second Floor of her House, Rex, who was coming down the stairs from his Room, was about to exit the Front Door.
"Sweetie, what are you doing?" Helena turns her Head to her Son, curious what he was doing.
Rex popped his Head out from the corner, hearing his Blonde Hair bounce upon hearing his Name called, "I'm just heading out with Zoe to meet up with Max and Chomp." He explains to his Mother where he's going.
Helena smiles at her Son, seeing him excited to go see Chomp. "I take it you want to spend some time with Chomp?" She asked, seeing Rex's Eyes widen at her Words.
Rex flinched, properly standing before his Mother, now standing at the entrance of their Living Room. "Um, how did you know?"
"Rex, I've been your Mother for Ten Years. I've seen you when you're trying to hide something." Helena said, having developed a Sixth sense when it comes to his Son, despite being somewhat Mature than most Kids of his Age. But he can still act like a Child at Times, which she finds relieving that Rex can still be a Child at Times.
Rex could only chuckle nervously, scratching the back of his Head. "Well…yeah, pretty much. It's kinda cool that Max has a Triceratops as a Partner." The blonde Boy said, smiling a bit at the idea of a Pet. "I know what you're going to say, that we can't have a Pet and I'm fine with that-"
"Who says we can't have one?" Helena gave a perplexed expression, confused by what her Son said. "I never said that we can't get a Pet, Rex." She said to him.
"B-But didn't you say to Max that it's a big responsibility to take care of Chomp in a serious tone?" The blonde Boy asked his Mother, remembering hearing that after she, Dr. Taylor, and Reese analyze the Triceratops's Card.
Helena giggled, ruffling his Hair endearingly at how considerate he was to her. "Rex, you know I would do anything to make you happy, right?" The black-haired Paleontologist said, "If you want to have a Pet, then I don't mind."
Rex smiles, hearing his Mother speak, as he is excited about the prospect of getting a Pet. He then nervously shifted his Leg, clearing his throat. "Yeah, I know that, Mom, but you really don't Mind?" He asked, assuming she knows what he's referring to.
"Have I ever told you that when I was around your Age, I owned an Owl before?" Helena said, causing the young Boy to be intrigued by her statement.
"Y-Wait, you owned an Owl, Mom?" Rex asked, not really knowing that much about his Mother's Life before meeting Dr. Owen/Grandfather. If anything, despite knowing his Mother for his entire Life,
Helena nodded, confirming what she said is True. "Yes, I got her when I was Eleven as a requirement for my School." The young Mother explains to her Son, "Her Name is Hedwig, a Snowy Owl, and she's the most beautiful Owl I've met. She's the Loyal Friend I made,"
Rex smiles, seeing his Mother genuinely missing her Pet Owl. "I can tell you miss her, Mom. But why did you tell me this?" The blonde Boy asked curiously,
"I told you this because I know what it's like to raise a unique Pet." The black-haired Woman explains to her Son. "Eventually, you might come across a Dinosaur like Max and Chomp. If you ever need help taking care of it, I'm here to help if you need advice."
The blonde Boy blinked, surprised by how supportive his Mother was. He was half-expectantly being told the same talk as Max's Mother said to him when Max showed Chomp to her.
Rex could only nod, happy that Helena was giving him the benefit without a doubt when he eventually got himself a Partner like Chomp. "Thanks, Mom," He said, feeling lucky to have a Mother like her.
"Now go on and be with your Friends, and remember, be careful, Rex," Helena said, watching the Boy she Adopted as he went out to meet his Friend. She stood up, getting ready to go to the D-Lab.
Sanjo City Park,
"Go get it, Chomp!" Max smiles, tossing a Blue Frisbee in the Air,
The small Yellow Triceratops running to catch the Frisbee his Partner tossed, catching it in his Mouth.
Max jumps in the Air, cheering that Chomp caught it. "Good job, Chomp!" He laughed, running to the Triceratops who had the Frisbee in his Mouth,
The brown-haired Boy petted his Partner as he wagged his Tail at the praises.
On the Bench, Zoe and Rex were watching Max and Chomp playing with each other. The Pink-haired Girl sighs, placing her Head in her Palms, sighing at the sight. "Man, Max sure is lucky to have Chomp. I wish we had a Dinosaur Partner of our own," Zoe commented,
"Yeah, it would be awesome. But Max found his Stone with Chomp's Card." Rex commented, having thought about it since Max found Chomp. "I mean, we did find our own Stones, but they didn't come with Cards." He added, resting his Chin on his Palms.
"Maybe they got separated when they arrived at that Forest, we found our Stones." The blonde Boy said, thinking of the many reasons why they haven't had Dinosaurs of their own.
Zoe merely sighs, knowing that Rex was right. "Yeah, maybe," She said, looking at Chomp, imagining what her Dinosaur Partner is like. "Oh, I hope my Partner would be a cute One!"
Sanjo City, D-Lab
At the D-Lab, Reese has all Three Stones the Children found in the Analysis Chamber while she was working on Three Devices on her Workbench. "Reese, what are you doing?" Helena asked, walking up to her with a Data Pad of the Analysis of the Lithograph.
"I'm working on something that might be useful and easier for the Children to use their Stone and possibly Cards in the Future." The blonde Woman said, standing up from her Chair and heading to the Stones. "Helena, if you would, can you help me install the Stones in the Devices?" She asked her Friend,
The black-haired Woman nodded, always happy to help where she can. "Of course," Helena said, walking with Reese to the Stone as they picked up the Stones. "Reese, what exactly are you going to call your Devices?" She asked,
Reese took the Grass and Lightning Stone in her Hands, thinking about the question Helena had asked. "As much as I would like to Name my Invention a Scientific Name, however, I believe something easier for the Children to call," Reese commented.
"Yes, that's most likely the best thing to do, Reese." Helena chuckles at the small joke her Friend made.
Sanjo City Park
Max and Chomp continued to play with each other as Rex and Zoe continued to watch and talk. Rex told his Friend what his Mother told him regarding him having a Partner like Chomp. "Wow, I didn't expect your Mom to trust you to take care of a Dinosaur Partner like Chomp without the whole talk," Zoe commented,
"My Mom and Dad would do all that 'if you want a Pet, then it's your responsibility to take care of it' speech to me." The pink-haired Girl commented, fully aware of the type of People her Parents are. "Reese, on the other Hand, is an Adult and doesn't tell her those things. You're lucky, Rex."
"Yeah, but at the same Time, there seems to be something behind what she says." The blonde Boy added, "I mean, after the talk, she told me that she used to have a Pet Owl that she cared for until she moved away."
Zoe was surprised to hear that from Rex, truthfully, they don't know much about Helena other than studying under Dr. Owen, and knew both Reese and Spike. "An Owl, really? Is it like she found it as a Baby and took care of it?" She asked, curious about the Story.
Rex shook his Head, answering the question. "It's more of a School requirement or something like that. I guess they do something with Owls there, like how they do things with Falcons." The blonde Boy assumes, not really asking that much questions. "Mom didn't exactly go into it."
"Putting trust, and now a secret Past Life? Dr. Potter is one cool Lady." Zoe said, wishing she could be just like her. "Anyways, I'm sure your Mom would tell you when you're ready. That's how Parents are," She assured her that Helena is willing to tell Rex anything regarding her Past.
"I know, than-" Just when Rex was about to thank Zoe for the talk and hearing him out, some People were gathering around near the Ocean view in a panic.
"W-What is that!?" One Man asked, pointing to the shadow underneath the Water,
"I-It's huge! It's coming this way!" A Woman said, as the shadow underneath the Waters grew.
Zoe and Rex stood up as Max and Chomp met up with them. "What's going on?" Max asked, holding the Frisbee in his Hand.
Chomp's Eyes glared at the Waters, sensing something all too familiar, an Ancient Rivalry between Two Cretaceous Giants.
Emerging from the Ocean was a Red Tyrannosaurus Rex roaring loudly, as the crowd of People panicked and ran.
"A-Another Dinosaur!?" Zoe panics, seeing the King of Dinosaurs coming up to the Shore and onto the Pavement.
"It's a Tyrannosaurus Rex!" Rex exclaims, unsure what it was doing here.
"Huh, so T-Rex can really swim," The pink-haired Girl commented, stepping back at the Red T-Rex.
Comp in Max's Arms wiggle and flopping around at the presence of the T-Rex. The brown-haired Boy looks down at his Partner, feeling him squirming. "H-hey Chomp, settle down, will you? I know it's your Rival, but it's dangerous right now." Max spoke to his Partner,
Rex steps back, hearing his Friends talking. "Heh, how about we save the conversation for later?" The blonde Boy suggested,
Max and Zoe nodded in agreement, beginning to run in the opposite direction.
The Trio ran from the red Tyrannosaurus, seemingly after the group. "Guys, split up, it can't go after all of us if we go in separate directions!" Zoe stated, heading to the center, Rex heading to the right, and Max and Chomp heading to the Left.
The Tyrannosaurus's movement shifted to Max and Chomp, causing both Zoe and Rex to stop in their tracks. "It's going after Max and Chomp!" Rex shouted,
"Let's go, Rex, it must be after Chomp then." Both Zoe and Rex rushed to the other end of the Path their Friend was heading, figuring out a way to help them.
Max huffs, still holding onto the small Yellow Triceratops in his Arms. "Man, it's really coming for us," The young Boy said, hearing the Footsteps behind them. "Don't worry, Chomp, I got you."
Chomp was still struggling to break free from his Partner's Arms, assumed by Max that he was scared.
Soon, Max saw his Father heading over to him with his Specialized Net. "Dad! What are you doing!?" He asked his Father, unsure what he's doing.
"Stand back, Max, I've got this!" Spike stated, running towards it as he tried to catch it. "This is a Sixty-Six Million Years in the making! I got you now, Mr. Tyrannosaurus!" However, the T-Rex bites down onto the Net, snapping it in half.
Spike paused, seeing the shattered pieces of his Net fall to the ground. "Heh…needs some work-" The Paleontologist ducked his Head as the T-Rex walked over him. "Oh no, MAX!"
Max hid within a Food Stand, hoping it would confuse the T-Rex. However, it broke down the Wooden Shack as it roared,
Max was scared, however, he held onto Chomp and shouted at it. "GO AWAY! LEAVE US ALONE!" He exclaims, only for the little Triceratops to run out of Max's Arms and pounce onto the red Dinosaurs.
"NO CHOMP!" Max cried out, seeing his Partner biting down onto the T-Rex's snout, only for it to toss Chomp aside.
"CHOMP RUN AWAY!" The brown-haired Boy cried out, only to hear his Father call out to him.
Spike had his Hand over his Mouth, waving a strange device in his Hand. "Max! Use this!" He tossed the Device in his Son's direction, seeing him catch it. "It's a Device Reese made to make use of your Stones in an easy manner! And-hold on, (we don't have Time to look over the manual…)" He said, already taking out a large Binder from his Bag.
Max looks down at the Device, understanding what his Father said. "I-I'll press some Buttons!" He said, pressing the many Buttons on the Device,
The T-Rex approached Chomp, growling at him. "Oh no…" Max continued to press Buttons, unaware that Zoe and Rex came behind him. With a press of the right Button, Chomp was called back into his Card and into Max's Hands. "Ah," He gave a sigh of relief, glaring at the T-Rex who shifted his Attention to him.
"Alright, Chomp, here we go!" Max swiped down Comp's Card into the Card slot, and a brilliant Yellow Light lit up the Park.
Chomp emerged from the Card, sparks of Electricity coursing through his Body. Comp grew into his larger form, and with a mighty trumpeting cry, his Yellow frill and shining Horns catching the Sunlight. He smashed onto the Earth, head lowered, already anticipating the coming Battle.
The Sun blazed high over a sprawling Park, its golden light filtering through the canopies of thick forest lining the edges of the Field. The Sky and surrounding canopy began to distort into something with a mix of Cool Colors.
Max, Rex, and Zoe stood near the Fountain, looking in amazement at the sight. "W-Where are we?" Max asked, unsure what had happened.
"Ah, look!" Zoe points to the Battle, where the red T-Rex charges in; however, Chomp roared, and he pushed it with his Horns and Frill.
From the opposite side of the clearing, Three People emerged from the Water, gasping for Air. "A-Ah, t-that was something. Good thing it's a rental…" A plump Man commented.
"Yeah, but it was on my Credit Card!" A Tall Thin Man retorted, unsure how much Money he had lost.
A green-haired Lady groans before looking from side to side. "Hey, have you Two seen Terry?" She asked her Two fellow Alpha Gang members.
The plump Man merely pointed to the ongoing Battle as Chomp headbutted Terry on the Streets. "He's over there-Oh hey! Terry found the Dinosaur!"
A lot of People were still evacuating as the Two Ancient Creatures Battled it out.
Terry met the charge head-on, their Attacks colliding. With a powerful Headbutt, the T-Rex tossed Chomp back on the ground,
Chomp cried out, trying to get up, but Terry bit down on his Horn, tossing him over to the other side.
"Chomp!" Max cried out, wincing at the toss, while Zoe and Rex, along with Spike, watched on with their Eyes squinted.
They watched as the Red Tyrannosaurus stomped his Foot onto Chomp's side, causing the Yellow Triceratops to roar in pain.
Max gritted his Teeth, unsure what to do to help his Friend/Partner. "Chomp!"
"Max, there's no way a single Triceratops could win against a Tyrannosaurus," Rex stated, reading plenty about Dinosaurs from his Books and what he learned from his Mother and Grandfather. "It's a Fifty-Fifty chance, and by the looks of it…Chomp is losing."
Zoe held onto her Chest, unsure of what to do. "What now, then?" She asked, seeing the brown-haired Boy gritted his Teeth as Terry continuously kicked Chomp.
Suddenly, their attention was drawn to a blinking red Screen on Max's Device, "Huh?" Max looks down, seeing a Card that came with Chomp shot up from the Holder.
"I'm not sure what that Card does," Spike said, looking at his Son. "But it's worth the shot to try it out, Max." He urges his Son to try out the Card.
Max nodded, taking the Card ready to swipe it. "Here we go…" He swipes the Card across the Device, causing an Image of a Ceratopsian with Sparks of Lightning to appear.
Storm Clouds rolled in over them as a Bolt of Lightning struck down onto Chomp. Terry steps back, feeling the jolt of the currents rushing throughout his Opponent's Body.
"Woah!" The D-Team watched in awe as the Yellow Triceratops was lighting up like a Christmas Tree.
Chomp staggered and stood up, roaring at the Enemy. He began to charge, Electricity crackling along his Horns. He galloped across the Pavement with speed that belied his bulk, leaving sparks in his wake.
Terry roared as Chomp struck his Abdomen, sending jolts of Electric Currents throughout the Dinosaur's Body.
"Whoa!" Zoe cried, shielding her Eyes from the blinding Light.
"Get back!" Rex warned, watching as the Red Tyrannosaurus was tossed back far. "This is going to get wild." He added,
The group watched as the King of the Dinosaurs landed with a loud thud on the Pavement. Chomp's Attack caused it to spazzed out.
Terry lifted his Head, trying to continue the Battle. However, the Attack has left him exhausted, its Head slamming back down as a Red light engulfs it, turning back into a Card.
Chomp reeled back, shaking off the daze from the collision and after the Lightning Strike. He stumbles forward before reverting into his Card, exhausted by the Battle.
"I got you, Buddy!" Max ran forward, raising his Hand to catch his Partner/Friend's Card.
Max smiles before looking at where the Red Tyrannosaurus Rex landed, "Where's the T-Rex that Attacked us?" The brown-haired Boy asked, looking around for it.
"I believe he landed over there." Zoe points in the direction of the Red T-Rex that landed, "He turned back into a Card, like with Chomp." She commented,
Soon, Three People walked over to the Tyrannosaurus Card and picked it up. "Hey! What's the big idea, you Brats!?" A green-haired Woman shouted at them. "You're screwing up with our Mission!"
"Um, my Names Max…who are you?" Max asked as Zoe and Rex stood by their Friend,
Each of the Three posed, introducing themselves to the D-Team, "We are the Alpha Gang!" The group announced, "Your own worst Nightmare!"
"Oh, so Ursula," The green-haired Woman winks,
"Zantastic Zander!" The Tall thin Man points his Thumb at himself with a smirk,
"And Ed!" The plump, blue-haired Man pounded his Chest proudly,
The Trio gave each other a look, unsure of what to make of these People. "So what exactly do you want?" Rex asked, not really thinking of these People as a threat.
"Hmph! That's none of your business, and if the next Time you get in our way, then you'll find out the hard way!" Ursula stated, turning around to the Ocean. "Ed, Zander, let's get out of here!"
Zander saluted, "Aye, aye, Ursula!" The Three Strangers ran off to who knows where, leaving the D-Team and Spike alone.
The D-Team looked at each other, trying to make sense of this situation. "Those guys are weird. I never heard of the Alpha Gang before," Max commented, still holding onto Chomp's Card.
"Yeah, especially that Old Lady," Zoe commented as the green-haired Lady's Voice echoes across the City.
"I'M NOT AN OLD LADY! I'M IN MY TWENTIES, I DON'T EVEN HAVE WRINKLES!" Ursula shouted, retorting to what Zoe said.
Spike walks up to the Kids, placing his Hands on Max and Rex, "Alright, I think that's enough excitement for One Day. Let's get to the Lab, and we can hand Zoe and Rex's Devices to them." He said with a smile,
"Wait, we have them too?" Rex asked, surprised that they also acquired One just like Max.
"That's so cool!" Zoe cheered, excited at the thought.
The brown-haired Man chuckles, "That's right, the reason I came is to get you Kids and show what Reese and Dr. Potter are working on. Though a Name is yet to be given, regardless, let's head back," Spike said,
"Yeah!"
Sanjo City, D-Lab
"So you Three were Attacked by these People calling themselves the Alpha Gang? And they have a Dinosaur Card of their own and Devices?" Reese asked, surprised to hear that other People have similar Devices that work the same way as her Invention.
Both Rex and Zoe nodded while Max was tending to Chomp after the Battle with the Alpha Gang's Tyrannosaurs. "That's right, they seem to know more about the Dinosaur Cards," Zoe said to her Sister and Helena,
Rex turns to his Mother, listening to the conversation. "Have you ever heard of an Alpha Gang, Mom, Reese?" He asked the Two Women.
Helena shook her Head, hearing for the First Time a group called the Alpha. "No, this is the First Time I heard of this Alpha Gang," The black-haired Woman said, finding this worrying. But from what her Son and Zoe said about them, they aren't that much of a threat.
"Regardless, this Alpha Gang proves many things for us," Spike said, walking up to the group, crossing his Arms at the situation they found themselves in.
"Like what, Dad?" Max asked his Father as Chomp padded next to him.
Spike gazed at everyone in the Lab, including the Two Security Guards standing at the Doorway. "That we're not the only Ones who are looking for the Dinosaur Cards and that have Devices to activate said Cards." The brown-haired Man said, "For now, it's best to have the Kids keep a hold on their Stones in there…we should really make a Name for your Device, Reese." He looks at the Technician, feeling it would be too much to say Device each Time.
"Yeah, no offense, Reese, but something like this needs a cool Name," Zoe said, gazing a her Sister who was in her Station. "You're not really good at naming things…"
"I only invent practical things that are used for Research and the D-Lab. If I Name things, it would be in Scientific endeavors." The blonde Woman stated, being serious as always.
"Then let's call them Dinoholders, since it has our Stones and can store in the Cards that we found," Max said, pointing to the Move Card within his own Dinoholder. "Fitting, no?"
Chomp merely barked, indicating he's for the Name.
Rex nodded, liking the sound of the Name Max gave. "It does have a nice ring to it," The blonde Boy commented,
Zoe has to admit, it does have a nice ring. "It's catchy, so yeah. Let's call them Dinoholders," The Pink-haired Girl supported the idea.
Helena looks over to Reese, seeing if she's alright with the Kids giving her the Invention. Are you okay with it, Reese?" The black-haired Paleontologist asked her Friend.
Reese responded to Helena's question, not really minding the Name. "Whatever makes it easier for them, Helena." She commented,
Spike walked over, grabbing both Rex's and Zoe's Dinoholders. He turns to the Two Children who haven't received their Dinoholders yet. "Since there are other People out there with similar to our Dinoholders. You should hold onto these in case you've ever met them again." The Older Paleontologist informed the Kids.
Both Zoe and Rex took their Dinoholders with their respective Stones inside. Suddenly, all Three Kids glowed to their respective Stones' Color,
Max is glowing Yellow, Rex is glowing a Light Blue, and Zoe is Green. "K-Kids!?" Helena, Zoe, Spike, and the Two Guards reacted to the Children's sudden glow.
"W-What is happening to them?" Spike asked, unsure what was going on.
The Console next to Reese started to blink rapidly, prompting her to check the Data. "The Lithograph…Dr. Potter is reacting as well." Reese informed her fellow Researcher.
Helena looks at the Lithograph in the Analysis Chamber, unsure of what exactly is happening.
Soon, the glowing ceased, prompting the Adults to check on them. "Kids, are you okay?" Spike asked, worried for his Son.
Max, Zoe, and Rex blinked, looking at each other before looking at the Adults. "I-I think we heard the voices of the Dinosaurs in the Stone…" Max said, all looking at Chomp, who was scratching his Head with his Hind Legs.
