Calamity Returns:
Epilogue
"Gwand-Pop!" Anne whined, then let out a cute yawn. "...Sleepy."
Hop Pop smiled at the shrunken human and replied warmly, "I know it's past your bedtime, youngling, but there's something we went to show you."
Sprig nodded and picked up his sister/best friend, hugging her. Anne went to say something, but a yawn interrupted her. The pink frog smiled at the cute scene and looked ahead.
The day had long since given way to night, but the town was in full swing as everyone rushed around the town's square.
Anne noticed her brother/best friend's glance and looked around as well. The shrunken Thai girl frowned as she saw everyone getting ready for something. She looked at Sprig questioningly, and the pink frog just smiled at the human but offered no answer to her unspoken question.
Anne scowled at Sprig, knowing he was keeping something from her, but before she could ask, she yawned.
"AWW," Sprig couldn't help but gush, "You really are cute!"
"SPWIGGIE!" Anne whined, a faint blush on her face.
The Plantar family laughed at the cuteness, and this caused Anne's blush to deepen. Still, the shrunken human girl smiled, bathing in her found family's presence.
Soon, the Plantar reached the center of Wartwood, and Anne looked around. A big smile appeared on the human's face when she saw Sasha and Grime, and she immediately forgot how tired she was. Anne began to squirm in Sprig's arms, and the pink frog set the girl down.
"SASHIE!" Anne screamed, rushing over to her girlfriend.
Sasha managed to look in Anne's direction just as the Thai girl tackled her. The two shrunken girls laughed as they rolled on the ground.
"ANNIE!" Sasha screamed.
The two shrunken humans giggled as they embraced each other. Hop Pop and Sprig smiled as they walked up to the two, then looked at Grime.
"The way they're acting," Hop Pop said lightheartedly, "it's like they haven't seen each other in weeks."
Grime opened his mouth to reply when a squeal pierced through the air. The two frogs and one toad looked in time to see Marcy jump onto Anne and Sasha. The three humans fell to the ground, giggling up a storm.
"Marcy!" Olivia scolded as she and her wife came into view. "Don't just run off!"
Marcy's good mood fell as she looked at one of her newt mothers regretfully.
"Sowwy, Mama-Olivy," the dark-haired girl muttered regretfully.
The smaller newt glared at her adopted daughter for a second, then sighed. Oliva's face softened, and she smiled as she kneeled down so she was eye-level with Marcy.
"Remember what we talked about earlier?" Aquamarine Newt asked softly, and Marcy nodded slowly. "Just try to be safe, okay?"
"Otay. Mama-Olivy," Marcy said reluctantly.
Oliva's smile grew, and she hugged the girl. Grime watched all of this with a cocked eyebrow, then turned his attention to Yunan. The retired general looked at the ex-captain as Grime got beside her.
"What's up with your wife?" the toad asked curiously.
Yunan sighed and was about to answer when she felt a tug. She looked down at Darcy and saw the Core-created entity trying to get free from her leash. When Darcy couldn't get free, she looked at the newt with a glare.
Yunan sighed, then turned her attention to Grime.
"Something happened that scared Olivia more than usual," the retired general explained, "Since then, she had become even more protective of Marcy."
Grime frowned and looked at the newt and human. Olivia had let Marcy go, and the shrunken girl had rejoined her friends. The ex-captain noted that the aquamarine newt's eyes hadn't left Marcy.
The toad looked back at Yunan with another question, but the sound of someone tipping a mic got his and everyone's attention. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the source of the noise.
Standing in the center of the square was Polly, Frobo behind her with one of his arms in cannon mode.
"Ladies and Gentle frogs!" Polly spoke into her mic. "Thank you for coming out tonight!"
"POLLY!" Anne screamed cheerfully, waving at her adopted sister.
Polly smiled at the shrunken human and waved back. She then turned her attention to the entire gathering.
"As you know," the young frog said, "The heroes of Amphibia had returned! So, I thought we should celebrate tonight in style! Hit it, Frob!"
The frog-like robot smiled and raised his arm cannon. He fired a blue bolt of energy into the sky, which exploded, taking the shape of a heart. Everyone gasped and was in awe at the sight, and Anne had stars in her eyes as Frobo launched another firework into the air, taking the shape of Anne's old sword.
"You like that, Anne?" Hop Pop asked warmly.
Anne looked at the elderly frog and nodded energetically. Hop Pop smiled and picked up his adopted granddaughter, hugging her.
The shrunken human heard another firework being fired, and she looked to the sky just in time to see a reddish-pink firework explode, taking the shape of a pair of swords.
When Sasha saw this, she squealed and looked at her toad dad. Grime smiled at his adopted daughter and leaned down, spreading his arm wide. Sasha rushed into the waiting embrace, and Grime hugged her tight.
"Know that you made my life so much better," Grime said warmly to Sasha, causing the blonde to blush faintly.
The toad smiled at the sight as he put the shrunken blonde on his shoulders, as another firework was shot into the air, taking the shape of Sasha's rebel symbol.
Next, a green firework was shot into the sky, taking the shape of a crossbow. Marcy squealed as she jumped up and down as a second firework took the shape of her old journal.
Olivia and Yunan leaned down and hugged Marcy, and the black-haired human looked up at their smiling faces.
"Like we told you before," Olivia said warmly. "You helped us realize so much, and we can't thank you enough."
Marcy smiled as a faint blush crossed her cheeks, and she leaned into her newt mothers' embrace.
From her spot, Darcy watched all of this with a strange look in her eyes. She wasn't jealous that her donor, as she called Anne and her friends, was receiving so much love, wa she?
The Core-created entity looked at the newt family, trying to sort through these unknown feelings. After a few minutes of debating, Darcy looked up at the sky, trying to watch the show to distract herself from her confusing feelings.
As the three found families watched the show, a few thought about the humans' current problem. They knew they would have to address this problem when the portal opens, and they get in touch with Anne, Sasha, and Marcy's families back on Earth.
But that could wait, for now, the Platars, Grime, and the Longclaws could sit back and enjoy this moment with their adopted daughters.
