Morning rose on a new day on Site B as Brooklyn opened his eyes, feeling the pain in his ribs slowly fading away, stretching.
Broadway grinned down at his brother. "Hey, how ya feelin'?"
Brooklyn gave a shrug, a smile on his beak. "Not every day you get nearly eaten by a Spinosaurus but doing cool."
He looked to his side to see Lexington already feeling better too, Hudson having him work on some of the broken pieces of the walkie talkies to try and make into a radio. There was just no end to his brother's creative talent.
"How long do you think until that radio of yours will be ready?" Brooklyn asked while taking a grateful drink of water from the spare canteen that Goliath had filled up, glad they had found it.
Lex used a screwdriver, clearly in complete focus. "Should take at least one more day or so since I want off this island already." He grunted, at one point holding his arm from small pain but kept up his work.
"In the meantime laddie, ye can continue to regain your strength until we can keep moving." Hudson advised with a little smile, a hand on the red male's arm. Brooklyn nods, stretching lightly while he watched his younger brother continue to work.
...
After some time, Lexington felt like he had managed to get the radio built. It was crudely designed, not super professional like he did with the copter and the bike but it was a radio nonetheless.
Lexington held it up proudly. "This is our only way out now." He declared, Broadway impressed that his little brother was able to do it on a godforsaken Dino island.
Goliath got to his feet, along with Brooklyn who shook himself. "Good. My wings are stiff. Should we get goin'?" He asked, rubbing his shoulder.
Angela nodded, wanting more than ever to get home and get some real cooked food in her from her mate. Goliath led the way as the clan left that cave, Lexington in the front and holding out the radio, trying to get some kind of phone signal in hopes to contact someone.
After a few hours of trekking through the dense foliage, soon the clan ended up in what looked like an open field. Their jaws dropped when seeing... dinosaurs.
Not the kind that wanted to eat you alive. But the kind that were just... living. Eating off of the plants in the field. Herds of brachiosaurus and some triceratops here and there. Along with the duck billed dinosaurs.
Brooklyn let out a low whistle. "Never thought I could see so many dinosaurs on one island. At least these won't eat us." He said, spotting one brachiosaur letting out a loud mournful tone that sounded like singing.
Goliath listened, his heart panging a bit from hearing the music, thinking about Elisa was something about that dinosaur's singing that stirred something in him: missing human interaction. He shook himself. "Come on. Let's keep going."
Lex nods while going through the field until reaching where the signal was, but finding nothing. He shook his device in irritation. "The signal should've been right there! What's the holdup?"
Broadway scratched his head. "Maybe it's broken?" He asked until the clan froze when hearing something. It sounded like a... ringtone?
Hudson held a hand on his sword, the group turning about, Brooklyn freezing up when recognizing what was the Spinosaurus standing right there, a strange ringtone coming out of its mouth like it ate a cellphone, almost sneering at them.
"RUN!" Goliath bellowed, knowing in their state they had no chance against this thing as the clan made a break for it across the field grass, the Spinosaurus roaring viciously, charging at the group.
While they all ran for their lives, Lexington ends up tripping, dropping his radio. His eyes rounded. "No!" The olive male tried going to grab it but Hudson snatches him out of the way right as the Spinosaurus steps on the radio. The sounds of the device breaking into pieces makes Lex flinch. "I'm not lettin' ye get hurt again!" Hudson snapped, forcing Lex to focus on getting away from danger.
The clan kept up their running, not sure how much longer they can outpace this demon dinosaur until Goliath spots what looked like a large abandoned research facility.
"There!" He shouted, directing the rest of his clan towards the building which was their only way of being safe (for the moment). They all manage to get indoors, Hudson, Broadway and Goliath all closing the door, locking it.
Brooklyn tensed when hearing the Spinosaurus ramming itself against the door, its roars ringing everywhere until eventually she gave up, hearing her stomping away for easier prey.
"Seriously... what does that chick have against us?" Broadway croaked, his heart beating, while Angela rubbed his shoulders.
Lexington however, was not really happy, especially after having his device broken. He glared harshly at Hudson. "Why did you even stop me from getting the radio? I could've grabbed it on time before the Spinosaurus reached me!" He hissed, eyes glowing, Hudson looking saddened but not regretting anything.
Hudson did his best to comfort the smaller gargoyle. "Even if yeh managed to lad, you would've been hurt again like the last time." He tried to say but Lexington shoved the hand away. "That was our only radio and a way off this cursed place! How are we going to call for help now?"
Brooklyn had enough of this, moving forward, grasping Lexington's shoulder's sharply. "Lex, just settle down alright? We barely got away from being eaten alive! We can always find or build another radio. I mean... look at this place." His eyes now trailed around the building that had a lot of abandoned laptops, phones, etc.
The clan stared in awe at how the building looked which was a ghost town, all of them going to different areas to explore. Lex went off by himself to glance over at the computers, hoping to find something that resembles a transmitter. Goliath, Hudson, and Angela all rifled through papers that said Ingen facility on them. Brooklyn even found an old bag he decided to take along, figuring it could be useful.
While Broadway was looking through his own electronics, even finding a vending machine full of food he decided to take, he feels his elbow bump something; a projector. He gasps, stepping back. "Oops." The others glanced over at the sight of a projection being shown onto the wall.
Brook stared when seeing what looked like an old man with a grandfatherly smile, wearing a white suit and holding a cane with a piece of amber on it. "This is Dr. John Hammond of Jurassic Park. We wanted to re create creatures people thought were long extinct for a million years as an attraction. But we didn't know what would come of it."The footage shifted, revealing geneticists working on taking Dino dna from amber rocks that had mosquitoes in them, Lexington folding his arms and glaring. Even he would find this science impossible. "We had succeeded in bringing a lot of the most popular dinosaurs back from combining old dna with tree frogs and a snake, including the return of a T Rex, our biggest achievement. But, there were some we feared probably should have remained extinct."
Broadway scoffs, rolling his eyes. "No duh, Sherlock." More footage revealed baby raptor eggs, Brooklyn tensing as another scientist named Dr. Henry Wu, who was turning over some of the eggs. One hatched, squealing. Goliath froze. He never imagined humans could even bring back something that was long extinct. Sevarius would probably sell his soul for something like this.
The footage flickered again, showing Hammond looking saddened. "Site B wasn't meant for humans or anybody else to venture onto. It was only meant for study, creation. But as what that Dr. Malcom would always say... life finds a way. The raptors. They're smart. Probably smarter than us humans ever will be."
The clan stiffened when hearing the shrieks of the raptors that escaped in the video, and screams of the scientists that got eaten. Angela had a hand over her mouth from the sight before the footage soon went black.
Broadway breathed a heavy sigh, his eyes round. "And I thought Xanatos was the only one who wanted to play God..." He croaked, hoping they wouldn't run into raptors anytime soon.
Lexington himself had been lucky to grab some old devices he could build into a radio. The clan after a while enters into what looked like the egg incubation room.
They saw a lot of hatched egg shells which included the raptor ones. Brooklyn while separated from the others for a bit in the room, found his eyes trailing over to what looked like one egg that was still whole and unhatched. His breath caught in his throat as he ventured closer to it, reaching out with a hand towards the egg that was surrounded by the broken ones.
His hand laid upon the egg, the shell rather smooth, and... warm? Brooklyn blinked, suddenly seeing the egg shift as soon as he had touched it. It was still alive.
Something about this egg hit Brooklyn, remembering the ones in the old rookery. He gently picked it up in his talons, knowing he couldn't leave something this helpless in a dirty place like this. "It'll be alright, little one. You aren't alone anymore." Brooklyn said gently, placing the egg carefully in his bag, shouldering it before going back with the other gargoyles, the group now trying to find their way out of there, Goliath pushing open an exit door, heading back to their cave, wondering what they're going to do now now that they've seen that horrible video.
