A/N: This chapter includes Buck having a small panic attack and the version of how I think Eddie found out Bobby had died. I got the idea from TikTok.

The next morning on the other side of LA, Angela sat at her desk across from Nyla when John walked up to them holding his phone, his eyebrows furrowed together in confusion.

"Hey guys," he said, catching both of the detectives. "Is it just me or does she look just like Monica but with glasses and a different name," he held up his phone showing the amber alert for Moira Blake.

Nyla dropped the file she was holding and grabbed the phone. "Yep, this looks just like her, in fact I think it is her."

Nyla held the phone out towards Angela and the detective took it. "Where did you find this?"

"It popped up this morning worldwide looking for her," John said. "Says she escaped prison."

"Oh look, it's Monica!" Lucy came up to the two.

"That doesn't look like Monica though," Celina commented.

"Her name is Moira Blake," Nyla said.

"We should take this to Grey and Bradford, "Angela said.

Bobby had finally come to consciousness when he looked up to see two women who looked exactly alike; they seemed to be arguing.

"You kidnapped a firefighter!" Monica exclaimed quietly. "Not just any firefighter but a dead firefighter!"

"He's not dead!" Moira said defensively. "I cured him now I have to run tests!"

Bobby looked around the room trying not to make too much noise, it seemed to be like a basement with a bunch of needles and doctor supplies there he saw two cages with one rat in each.

"Oh God," Bobby groaned.

Both heads snapped towards Bobby. "Oh great you're alive," Moira smiled. Her smile wasn't that doctor friendly smile it was an evil smile that you'd get from a corrupted doctor.

"I thought they arrested you and...you?" He was confused on how he was seeing doubles if he didn't hear them arguing he'd think he was drugged but there's still a chance for that right? God he really hoped he wasn't drugged.

At the 118, Bailey walked through the doors seeing the fire trucks but no firefighters. "Hello?" She called out, walking further up the stairs to see Hen, Chimney, and Eddie all sitting at the table.

Eddie had decided to stay longer instead of going back to El Paso immediately. Bailey coming up the steps caught all of their attention.

"Oh hi I was starting to think they sent me to the wrong place," Bailey chuckled nervously.

"Can we help you?" Hen stood up.

"I'm Bailey Nune," she introduced herself. "Uh, the department sent me for a temporary transfer, I'm supposed to be working under interim captain Wilson?"

"We..." Hen cleared her throat. "We...uh didn't know they were sending someone."

"Oh..." Bailey said, shifting on her feet. "They said you were down a man and I was here to fill in that place until they permanently find someone."

"Ravi!" Hen called out for the firefighter who was just entering the kitchen. "Show Bailey around the place she's here temporarily."

Ravi nodded. Ravin motioned his hand for Bailey to follow him and she did.

"Where's Buck?" Eddie asked. "I thought you all agreed to work because it's something Bobby would want?"

He was worried for Buck. He knew Bobby and Buck were like father and son and he sounded more broken than ever when Buck had called him to tell him about Bobby.

Eddie carried the last of Christopher's stuff into his house. He was happy to have his son back with him.

"Dad!" Christopher called out walking into the house carrying Eddie's phone. "Buck's calling."

"Thanks bud," Eddie smiled. Taking the phone he answered the phone "Hey Buck what's up?"

"E...Eddie," Buck said through his sobs. He knew he wouldn't be able to keep it together but he wanted to be the one to tell Eddie.

Eddie immediately became aware and tense of Buck's tone. "Buck? What's wrong?" He got no response, only the sounds of Buck's sobs. "Buck, who?"

He knew it was serious. Not "they were hurt badly but would live" serious but "they're dead" serious by the sounds of Buck's sobbing which got even heavier after he had asked who.

"Buck," Eddie said the name more firmly but there was a tremble in his voice, tears already forming in his eyes. "Who?"

"Bobby..."

The name had come out in a whisper but Eddie had still been able to hear it, and the tears had broken free as Eddie's body froze, the phone slipping from his hand hitting the floor.

"Dad?" Christopher looked at her dad with concern, Eddie then dropped to the floor sobbing. "Dad?" The boy had gotten more worried.

Buck had woken up at the feeling of Athena not being near him and she was getting dressed. The woman had wanted Buck to stay at her apartment and sleep but he didn't want to sleep after she had told him Moira Blake had escaped. His exhaust was replaced with anger.

Now he sat in her car while she saw in the police station the only way of her agreeing to allow him to come with her was for him to at least get a little bit of rest in the car.

Buck wiggled in the backseat of Athena's car laying across the seat trying to get comfortable as he closed his eyes.

And he was suddenly back to that night.

"Bobby no!"

"You're gonna be okay Buck," Bobby told him with a small smile across the man's face. "I love you kid."

Buck jumped up gasping for air. Those same words, that same scene always plagued his mind, so did Athena's scream that he had heard only a few feet away from the door her screams had mixed in with his own that night and it's something he heard nightly.

He needed air so he stepped out the car pacing taking in very deep breaths and exhaling. "You lied Bobby," he said looking up at the sky. "Everything isn't okay. You lied!"

"Elaine," Athena said she had spent minutes trying to convince her captain to let her find Moira Blake. "I have to do this!" the Sargent exclaimed.

"Athena you just put your husband in the ground," Elaine said, placing a file on her desk. "Take some more days off and grieve properly."

"I did grieve," Athena said firmly. "I am still grieving and right now I'm between anger and vengeance, that bit...woman is the reason my husband is dead to start with —!"

A knock interrupted Athena making both women look at the young cop. "Sorry ma'am but the officers from Mid-Wilshire are here," he said.

"Send them in," Elaine said with a nod.

Athena turned back to Elaine. "Officers from Mid-Wilshire?" She raised an eyebrow "What are they doing here?"

Another knock came from the door and it opened. "Captain?" A man entered the room with two women behind him. "I'm Lieutenant Wade Grey and this is my Detective Angela Lopez and officer John Nolan."

Elaine moved from behind her desk and towards the three shaking hands with all three. "Nice to meet you all," she smiled. "I'm Captain Maynard and this Sargent —"

"Athena Grant," Grey said, cutting off Elaine.

John and Angela looked at their lieutenant after sharing a look while Elaine looked between Athena and Wade. "You two know each other?" Elaine asked.

"Yeah we worked a case together a few decades ago," Athena nodded.

"Really?" Angela couldn't help but smirk.

"Anyways," Wade cleared his throat knowing where Angela was heading. "We're here because you put out an amber alert on Moira Blake."

Athena turned her full attention towards Wade. "You guys got a lead?" Athena asked.

"Athena," Elaine turned towards the sergeant. "This is not your –"

"But it is my case," Athena said firmly, turning to look at her captain. "I'm the one who caught her the first time. I'm the one who..." Athena stopped herself wanting to keep herself together.

"Which is why you can't work this case, it is way too personal."

"I feel like we're missing something," John said.

"Moira Blake is the reason my husband is dead," Athena said with a bitter tone.

Bobby sat on the picnic blanket when he opened his eyes again he sat next to Marcy and the kids were over on the playground again.

"It was too early for you to come here," Marcy said, not looking at her husband. "You built a wonderful life after the fire...you need more time with your team and your wife."

"I know," Bobby said. He felt a ping in his arm as if he had been pinched or bitten by something.

"You have to fight," Marcy said. "Fight whatever that evil woman is doing to you and make it home to Athena."

Bobby felt his heart tightened at the mention of Athena. But he knew the more tests Moira ran on him would kill him with the amount of blood she takes from him every time he blacks out he ends up back in the field with Marcy, Brook, and Robert Jr.

But everyone already thought he was dead. Athena thought he was dead. His heart had broken when he had seen the look on her face when he said his goodbye to her. If she didn't know, if none of them knew that he was still alive, what was the point of hoping that he'd be saved?

He'd just die on them all again. He couldn't put Athena through that again. He couldn't put Harry and May through that again. He couldn't put the 118 through that again.

"I don't know if I can," Bobby spoke softly after a few moments. "I don't know if I can put them all through that again."

"Bobby," Marcy's hand slipped into his. "You have to fight," Marcy said a little more firmly. "When you moved to LA you managed to find a way of moving on from the fire. From us," she had told him "That is and was because of Athena and your team. They're gonna be lost and broken without you."

"Marcy I –"

Bobby was cut off by himself screaming in pain and he jumped up well at least tried with being chained to the table. He looked at Monica who was holding a knife with blood dripping down the blade.

He looked at his leg to see a wound. It wasn't deep enough to make him bleed out but it was enough to drag him away from Marcy.

"Good you're alive," Monica smirked which faded as the knife was snatched from her hand.

"Didn't your mother teach you not to touch my experiments?" Moira snapped making sure no blood from the knife was spilled as she placed it into a small little bowl.

"You told me to wake him," Monica groaned. "I wasn't gonna touch a dead guy."

Bobby laid back against the metal table. He had gotten the entire story before passing out. Apparently Monica and Moira are cousins/half-twin-sisters; their father had slept with both of their moms who were twins and both women had gotten pregnant around the same time and Monica and Moira were born on the same day only separated by an hour.

Moira had called Monica looking for a lawyer not knowing that the woman was on the run and now they both are screwed if anyone had ever found them and Bobby.

A/N: So how'd you like it? Next chapter will be a time skip. I think you'll like it or at least some points of it.
