Sorry I've posted several stories a day late! I've been sick this week and also busy with school. I hope you all have been enjoying these stories.
Spring Cleaning
"All hands on deck- let's go!" Mary clapped her hands, heading up the ladder to the attic.
George turned to Sybbie, arms crossed and eyes rolling. "This is what happens when you bring up the attic."
Sybbie sighed, glaring at him. "How was I supposed to know what would happen? I am the one on holiday, anyways. Why are you complaining?"
"Johnny and I were supposed to go practice cricket today." He said angrily as he climbed up the ladder after his mum.
"You never do a thing- you can help out this once!" She followed him up.
Already moving a variety of boxes and crates around, Tom stopped to glance over at the teenagers. "Sybbie, George. No bickering while we clean."
Henry laughed from his spot by the rocking chair in the corner. "I agree with Tom- we won't get any work done if you drive your mum," looking to George, "and aunt," towards Sybbie, "mad."
They shared an annoyed look before reluctantly shaking hands in a truce.
Mary smiled slyly. "Perfect. Now, help me uncover this sofa."
"That was brilliant!" Grinned Sybbie as she descended the ladder, laughter rising from her chest through her lips.
George coughed from where he stood in the hallway. "It was not! My lungs are rubbish now."
His parents and uncle did their best not to laugh as they took in his dust-coated hair, face, and shirt.
While trying to move a picture frame, he had knocked into a crate, which had a stool on top of it that was covered in dust, which consequently covered him in dust.
Sybbie hadn't recovered from the scene, and it looked as if she never would by the way she howled with laughter every few seconds.
Mary came up to her son. "It seems you have a little something, right…" she took her finger and wiped a little bit of dust off his cheek. "There." Her eyes struggled not to smile.
Unable to control it, Henry and Tom giggled as young children would about the word "duty".
"I'm never participating in spring cleaning again."
