This is my perfect New Year's Eve fantasy!

I'm thinking about doing a lemon sequel, but that will wait for later.

Happy reading!

Under the sky of Alabasta (Nami x Vivi)

The New Year's party at the Alabasta mansion was in full power. Vivi, as princess of the kingdom, maintained a charming smile as she greeted the guests. Colorful lights decorated the hall, and the sound of music echoed through the hot desert night. However, every time she found herself alone, Vivi's gaze slid to the upper balcony, where a familiar figure leaned against the railing.

Nami watched the stars with a glass of wine in her hand, and with a distant expression. Vivi knew that look well, as well as she knew her own thoughts. There was something about Nami's posture, the way she seemed oblivious to the noise of the party, that said something was wrong. Excusing herself from her duties, Vivi went to the balcony, leaving the muffled sound of music behind as she opened the glass door.

There you are— Vivi said, closing the door softly behind her.

Nami turned around, surprised for a moment before smiling, that almost mischievous smile that Vivi loved so much.

I just needed some air— Nami replied, taking a sip of the drink. —It's hard to compete with such a busy princess.

Vivi laughed softly, approaching.

And you leave me to work alone? That's not how you treat a hostess.

Nami shrugged, but there was something in her eyes that contradicted the lightness of the gesture. Vivi leaned against the railing next to her, looking up at the stars in the clear Alabasta sky.

What happened, Nami?

The navigator hesitated, fingers tightening around the bowl before sighing.

It's stupid. I don't want to ruin your party with my thoughts.

Nothing that comes from you is stupid— said Vivi, her voice soft but firm.—Tell me.

Nami looked at her for a moment before looking away to the city lights in the distance.

I think it's just... the festivities. I'm usually celebrating with the crew, on the Sunny, screaming while Luffy tries to do some dangerous nonsense. This year is different.

Vivi tilted her head, understanding immediately.

Do you feel out of place here?

That's not it— Nami said quickly. —I wanted to come. Seeing you was the best decision I've made in a long time. But at the same time, I feel like... I don't know, something is missing.

Vivi nodded slowly, absorbing the words.

You know, I feel this often. I look at my life here, at everything I have achieved, and I still miss being at sea, with you and with others.

Nami smiled slightly.

But this is your place, Vivi. It always was.

And maybe you belong at Sunny— said Vivi, looking back at her. —But that doesn't mean you can't have a piece of home here too.

Silence fell between them for a moment, broken only by the distant sound of the party and the desert wind.

You know, you're too elegant to stay out here— said Nami, trying to lighten the conversation.

Vivi laughed, looking down at her sparkling blue dress.

And you look too beautiful to be so thoughtful.

Nami blushed slightly, but didn't respond, focusing on the city lights again. Vivi saw the opportunity and took courage.

I have something for you.

For me?— Nami asked, raising an eyebrow.

Vivi took out a small package from the bag she was carrying. It was a delicate box, wrapped in golden fabric.

I wanted to give you this before midnight.

Nami took the package, looking at Vivi curiously before opening it. Inside was a simple necklace, with a small compass-shaped pendant.

It's beautiful!

It's so that you never forget where you can return, no matter where you are— said Vivi, her face blushing slightly.

Nami was silent for a moment before closing the box and looking directly at Vivi.

Thanks. It's... perfect.

There's no need to thank me— Vivi replied, her voice almost a whisper.

As the city's bells began to ring, marking the countdown to the New Year, the two women found themselves closer than before, their eyes locked on each other.

I think I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be now— Nami said, before bowing slightly.

Vivi smiled, closing her eyes as Nami's lips found hers, soft and hesitant at first, but quickly filling with warmth. When the bells announced the arrival of the new year, the kiss was interrupted only by their soft laughter.

Happy New Year, Nami.

Happy New Year, Vivi.

On that balcony, with the desert wind and the stars as witnesses, the two knew that this would be a truly unforgettable New Year.
