In 1942,The Axis powers were winning the War. Most of Europe was being conquered by Nazi HYDRA forces led by Johann Shmidt,aka the Red Skull,who has found a Cube.
A Frail Steve Rogers was recruited into the program & was given the Super Soldier Serum by Erskine. A Nazi Spy has fatally shot Erskine,then committed suicide. Rogers became known as Captain America & recruit his friend,James "Bucky" Barnes,an undercover agent,Peggy Carter,& the other Soldiers,whom Steve dubbed them as the Howling Commandos.
Cap & Bucky have been into several missions. They went after Armin Zola,a HYDRA Scientist. They quickly captured & interrogates him. Zola reveals that the Red Skull's plan to launch a bomb-loaded drone-jet to destroy New York. Cap & Bucky infiltrates the base as Red Skull tries to escape on a jet. The two climb aboard and defeat Red Skull.
They both realized that there's only one way to stop it. Bucky knock Captain America off the Jet into the icy arctic waters below as the Jet with Bucky & the tied up Red Skull inside exploded. He then became frozen in a state of suspended animation. Peggy & the Howling Commandos continues to fight with Allies.
In the Presents,Steve is brought back to life by Nick Fury nearly 75 Years.
