Hello everyone! Glad to see you all are excited to see where I take this story. I have plans for all the fandoms tagged at the top and I'm excited to show you all how I twist the stories and characters to fit into this world. Now, as for this chapter, I thought I'd have some fun and not name anyone until their respective story is revealed or is about to begin. But still…see if you can figure out who is who. You've already met two, let's see who can get the rest.
Alma wasn't sure how she felt.
While the curse that had caused her to become the way she was was now gone, thanks to the efforts of her hijo, nieta, the rest of the familia and the brave adventuring party, she still felt…unsure of everything. Was exposing the village to the cruelties and dangers of the outside world really the best idea? While she didn't want to be biased, the casual way that Striker and his family, as well as the group that they had teamed up, talked about the many crimes they had all committed signaled that not everyone Mirabel had met was exactly of…high moral standings.
"Hey! Lady! Get your crotch goblin away from me!" A tiefling with a large scar running over his eye snapped at a member of the village, who had gotten distracted enough to notice her child running over to investigate this mysterious newcomer.
…Not at all helped by how crass they could be.
Still, they were offering their help and, from what Alma could see, they were all very fond of the Party, Mirabel in particular. All of them, from the lowly criminals and killers to even various princes and princesses, greeted her with a fondness that Alma…
That Alma hadn't shown anyone else in years.
"Was it all the curse?" That traitorous part of her brain spoke up again. "Or did you just not want to admit that your nieta was able to make the family more productive and happy in a few weeks than you had in your entire life?"
"Mama?" Bruno asked as he came over, still clearly concerned. "Are you alright? Dryft is still worried about you due to the whole 'Hollow Dragon' thing."
"I am…alright," Alma said after a few seconds. "I do not think there are any side effects from transforming into that beast. But…are you not concerned about the amount of criminals that you have brought into the Encanto?"
"Nah, they're all fine," Bruno assured his mama. He'd already gotten asked this question repeatedly. "Besides, most of them are retired or at least use their criminal skills for good now."
"I just hope you are right," Alma had to say. For his part, Bruno offered a shrug.
"Well…have we been wrong recently?" Was all he had to say in response. Alma didn't have it in her to reply.
"So…you have two girlfriends?" Isabela clarified.
"Yes. How many times do I have to say that?" The girl she was talking to replied in a rather snippy tone. Isabela did ask her the same question several times.
"Sorry it's just…I'm still getting used to the idea that I can have one," Isabela sheepishly admitted as she played with one of her curls. "I mean, only a few days ago, I was still engaged to a man I didn't even love."
"Yeah, I'm not the person to relate to that one," The girl replied as she idly played with her own hair, hair that reminded Isabela of feathers for some reason. "That'd be a better question for the pack human."
"Pack…human…?" Isabela asked. The girl rolled her eyes in response.
"Our hengeyokai pack," The girl replied before suddenly shifting into a small bird, causing Isabela to jump. With another eyeroll, the girl shifted back. "Well, it's not an official pack, but we're all animals anyways so we just call ourselves a pack. Just wish we didn't have such losers in the pack. Ugh, where even are my girlfriends, anyway? We got here and then the next thing I know, I can't find either of them. I need my two big strong babes to show off with."
"Perhaps I could help you look for them?" Isabela offered, mostly just to keep talking about the whole "having a same gender romantic partner was acceptable" thing.
"Well I have nothing better to do," The girl replied as she stood up with a smirk. "Besides, considering how much Mirabel raved about her family, I'd love to get to know the one who can turn into a giant naked plant lady." And now Isabela was blushing in a way she was pretty sure was impossible.
"Ah they grow up so fast!" Felix gushed happily as he watched Dolores and Mariano share a dance with his wife. While it was agreed that everyone would likely be too tired to actually begin work on rebuilding yet, many still felt that a celebration was needed and, as such, several bards had set up in the town square, happily playing music and inviting anyone interested to dance.
"They really do, huh?" A voice from beside him commented and Felix nearly jumped out of his seat when he saw an honest to God(s?) wolf man staring back at him. "Feels like just yesterday I brought my little girl home. Now she's almost a grown woman."
"Which one is yours?" Pepa asked, voice still somewhat wary but also a tad confused. She didn't recall seeing any wolf people dancing…
"That one," The wolf man said as he pointed to a very obviously not a wolf red haired young woman dancing with what appeared to be a blue skinned woman who seemed to be around her age. "...Adoption."
"I would hope so," Felix said in a joking tone. Much to his joy (and slight relief), the wolf couldn't help but laugh back. Pepa, for her part, merely cracked an amused grin.
"Still, hard to believe that she's grown so much," The wolf said with a fond smile. "Let me tell ya, when I found her, I was honestly worried if she'd even make it. I, uh…didn't find her in the best of places. But she did and she's thriving. We all are…partly thanks to Mirabel."
"I think…I think so are we," Pepa admitted, thinking back to everything that both Mirabel and Bruno had done in just the short time since they had returned. "I'd love to hear your story at some point."
"Once I get everyone together, I'll gladly tell you," The wolf assured them as they went back to watching their kids dance the night away.
"Wow…how many more animals can you turn into?" Antonio asked in awe as a druid, much like Nocci, but she could turn into animals. She'd just turned into a giant bat and turned back effortlessly.
"Well…I can do a lot," The druid, who was a nice lady even if she had weirdly colored hair. "Is there anything you want to see?"
"Well…" Antonio had to think. He didn't want to make any of his animal friends mad or jealous if he liked the transformations too much. "Can you do a crab like Mirabel's baby?"
"Well, I'm certainly no Martin, but…" With that, the druid dropped down and in her place was a very small crab.
"Cool…" Antonio said eagerly. "Er…can I pick you up?"
"I'd really rather you didn't," The druid said nicely. Antonio understood. He knew that you never should touch an animal that didn't want to be touched.
"Can all druids do that?" He asked, still very curious about his new friend and her powers.
"You have to learn how to do them," The lady explained as she transformed back to normal. "But most druids can learn how to do it. Of course, since I'm a Circle of the Moon, I can do a lot more than most can."
"Is that why Nocci can't transform?" Antonio innocently asked. He could tell the lady wanted to laugh, but she was also clearly trying to hold it back. "Uh, what's so funny?"
"Nothing, nothing," The lady assured him as she finally managed to claim herself down. "It's just…nothing important. So, you want to see more of my animal transformations?" And that got Antonio excited all over again.
"Hey shapeshifter guy!"
"I have a name," Camilo replied to the speaker, a young boy who seemed to be the same species as Striker.
"C'mon brat. Be nice," His companion (or at least one of them. Camilo noticed several people arriving with him), a large crocodile-like beast, said.
"Can you turn into all types of creatures or just people?" The boy, not paying his companion any mind, asked Camilo.
"Uh…I don't know," Camilo admitted. "Didn't really know about other species until a couple days ago so never really tried."
"Bet you can't!" The boy taunted Camilo. He wasn't sure if the taunt was intended to get him to try or not, but he wasn't one to back down from a challenge!
"Well then…" Camilo grinned smugly as he took in all the little details of the boy's appearance. "Let's see who's right." After concentrating, Camilo had managed to transform into an identical copy of the boy. "Well then! Looks like I can!"
"Hey, tieflings are still pretty close to humans," The crocodile man piped up, now with his own smug grin. "Try doing a lizardfolk like me!" This gave Camilo pause. The reason he thought he could do tiefling was because it was closer to the humans he knew like the back of his hand. A crocodile creature that still walked like a human…that was going to be a lot more than just a set of horns and a tail. Still, Camilo knew his pride was on the line.
"Hey, I haven't failed before!" Camilo challenged as he focused his gift again. Much to his own surprise, the transformation went flawlessly.
"Hmph. Not bad," The crocodile-like man huffed, but Camilo could tell he was impressed.
"C'mon! I'll bet you can't do other stuff!" The boy challenged again, which Camilo could now tell was just him trying to get him to show off more of his powers. Not that Camilo wasn't open to testing just how far he could push his gift. He'd seen what his mama and Isabela did during that fight with the Hollow Dragon. It was time to see how far his own gift could go.
"So…I guess you're a Swarmkeeper." The hunter who Mirabel had recommended to her father, a young boy who couldn't be older than his own youngest, asked. "Or at least that's what it sounds like. Sorry, I…don't really work with insects. Trained in the snow for the most part. I did see someone claiming to be a Beastmaster earlier, so she might be able to do a bit more to help you."
"It's fine," Agustín assured the young boy. "Honestly, this is all still new to me too so I'm open to talking to anyone."
"Still…from what I do know about bees, the fact they opened up to you so quickly when you grabbed that staff," The boy put his hand to his chin. "You must have a strong bond with them."
"It's funny. Ernesto said the same thing," Agustín admitted as he thought back to that conversation with his brother.
"...Still, it's weird, considering the stories he told us about you having him admitting that all the bees seemed to do was sting you a lot," The boy admitted, bringing Agustín right back down to Earth. "But…I have a theory. You said the lady you married makes healing food, right?"
"Yeah! Why?" Agustín asked as he shot a look at Julieta, who was talking with a group of people who, much like Dryft, were clerics and were no doubt interested in her healing powers.
"Maybe the bees knew how much you liked her and were helping you get hurt so you could go see her?" The young boy offered. "Bees probably think weird, so they might be trying to help you see your wife?" Agustín froze as he tried to think about that. He often did mention he wished he could spend more time with his wife, but she always had her duties keeping her busy. And he might have ranted about it under his breath while trying to tend to the bees…
"...You may have a point," Agustín admitted as he wondered if he should tell the bees that it wasn't needed…or try to get some supplies to better help them grow their hives. Any time he got to spend with his wife was good in his book.
"You know, when Mirabel said you were strong, this isn't really what I was expecting somehow," A voice from behind Luisa said. She still had her strength and had been helping move around some of the supplies people brought in, mostly because she was still trying to work off her adrenaline from the final battle. She felt like she could tear a whole mountain in half and would rather get it out with this rather than accidentally hurting someone. Turning around, Luisa found a rather skinny woman with vibrant red hair watching her work. "But, then again, she's full of surprises, so I guess her family would be too."
"Not enjoying the party?" Luisa asked only to flinch when she realized that could be considered rude. "Uh, sorry! I didn't mean-"
"No, I'm having fun," The woman assured her. "In fact, I was actually sent to get you. Mirabel would have come but she's busy talking with one of my boyfriends about something."
"One of?" Luisa internally questioned before shaking her head. Not important. "Uh, sorry. I guess I just…still want to feel like I'm useful."
"Well I personally think it could be funny to see you beat some of the cockier boys in arm wrestling," The woman replied, causing Luisa to snort. "And, from what Saharah told me, you're looking for more inspiration to become a bard. Not one myself…but I'm told my story would make a pretty good tale."
"Mirabel might have told me…but I'd love to hear it again," Luisa replied as she followed the woman, eager to hear her story and everyone else's story.
Bruno knew that many stories were going to be told over the next couple days. Everyone, from the village, to the visitors to even his own family would likely have questions based on the various people that had come.
But there was one that everyone wanted to hear.
"Makes sense that one miracle worker would learn from two others," One person in the crowd piped up.
"Honestly not sure how we didn't see this coming," Said another.
"Sorry to put you all on the spot like this, boys," Mirabel apologized to the duo of brothers.
"It's fine, Mirabel," Phineas assured the young girl. "Besides, knowing we inspired you and then you went on to do all this?...It feels pretty good in its own right."
"Yeah well you ain't telling this story without us dinner bell," Buford gruffly replied as he made his way over, followed by the Flynn-Fletcher brothers' other friends and family.
"Sorry Buford!" Phineas quickly apologized before turning to Mirabel. "Mirabel, why don't you start things off?"
Mirabel simply smiled as she took a breath. "Well…it all began those ten faithful years ago…"
So, with that, we get our first flashback. And yes, Phineas and Ferb are the ones who put Mirabel on her path…and someone else did the same with Bruno. But you'll have to see when we get there! But did you figure out who everyone was talking to? Here's a hint, each fandom set to be in this story only showed up once.
