Chapter XV: Queen For A Day.
Last Time.
"Aim for the power cord!" Alex melted the breaker box on the wall, only for the power to come back on.
Suddenly, devices started to attack before Sam yelled out. "Adam, help us!"
After a moment, Adam was able to fight and pour water on his computer and C.H.A.D. before they ran out, just as missiles hit the house.
Beverly Hills High –03:02 PM.
"OK, whoa! This is contempt of court!"
Mandy said as the group walked inside and saw a button on Clover's top was unbuttoned. "Mandy, enough is enough." The teacher said, walking up.
"Tell me about it. I'll sentence them to six weeks of picking up trash."
"No, you won't. You have utterly failed to enforce the dress code. You are off the student court!" The teacher said to Mandy, who blinked.
"Oh, really? Well, if I'm not a judge anymore, then I demand a new job!"
Later, Mandy was picking up trash before hitting an old milk carton.
Now.
Lyrobian Palace –09:16 PM
A woman with a dark complexion, light brown eyes, and thick, wavy burgundy hair blew candles out in the large bedroom. She's wearing a pink nightgown and hoop earrings.
After finishing the last candle, she walked to the large circular bed and reached the headboard before lying down. A moment later, a green beam hit her, forcing her to float and be pulled to the window. She screamed before a man ran in.
"Tassara!"
He's tall, muscular, dark-skinned, with long, wavy black hair and a goatee. He's wearing a long white collared, with slightly puffed forearm sleeves shirt. Worn over the shirt is a red vest and a Dhoti that has a thick yellow waistband. Matching his attire are a pair of dark red dress shoes.
"I've got you!" He yells, grabs a rope, throws it, and wraps it around her ankle before pulling her back in.
Beverly Hills High School –11:10 AM.
"I'm telling you, girls, with my new digital video camera, I'm a shoo-in for Homecoming Queen!"
Clover, wearing an orange dress over a light blue shirt and orange heels, said, putting a DVD in a player connected to a large screen in the cafeteria.
Alex, wearing a pink backless bodysuit with a white belt pink flower buckle, and white knee-high heeled boots put her hand on her hip as Sam, wearing a dark green cardigan over a light green dress, stockings and dark green heels looked at the screen where a video of Clover giving the peace sign and wearing a crown smiled.
"Vote Clover for Queen! I swear I won't be mean!"
"Brilliant, isn't it?"
"It's, erm... great, Clover," Alex said as Sam sighed.
"Yeah. In a painfully honest kind of way."
Suddenly, Mandy walks in with a marching band and takes Clover's DVD out to put hers in. "Out of my way, ladies!"
"Clover is so over! It's Mandy who's dandy! Vote Mandy for Homecoming Queen! Yeah!"
The video played as Clover glared at Mandy. Everyone cheered and walked out as Mandy smiled. "Ah, cheer up, Clover. You did your best. Besides, it's not like you had a chance at becoming Homecoming Queen, especially since I've got the entire football team in my back pocket."
"JV or Varsity?" Alex asks her.
"Both."
"Wow. Impressive." Alex muses before Clover elbows her.
"I think so. So, why don't you just give up now, Clover, and save yourself the humiliation of losing to me in front of the entire school?"
Later, the three undercover spies are sitting at a table. "Looks like you'll need to do some serious campaigning to beat Mandy," Sam says as Clover glares in front of her.
"Are you kidding? I can beat Mandy on my worst hair day!"
"Listen, Clover."
They looked up to the higher floor and saw a boy with short blonde hair, blue eyes, and glasses wearing a sweater vest over a button shirt and dress pants.
"I overheard everything, and I think I can help you with your campaign. Heck, I might even be able to secure the "nerd" vote for you. There's more of us than you think."
"Thanks, but no thanks, brainiac. I do my own campaigning." Clover waved him off before getting up. "Come on, girls, you gotta help me campaign."
She then walked and picked out the Mandy DVD and walked to the hall where Naruto, wearing a red button shirt over a black T-shirt and black jeans, was walking.
"Sup?" He asks before Clover drops the DVD in the trash.
And all four were then sucked into it before the boy walked out to see nothing.
The spies fell into a rocket and were shot out into space and fell back down into the ocean onto a metal boat. "If this means Jerry's offering us a surprise cruise, I'm willing to forgive him for ruining our clothes," Clover said as they rolled out. Jerry walked up, bringing a screen of the Lyrobian country before showing a picture of Tassara.
"No such luck, spies. Right now, you are en route to the Northern African nation of Lyrobia, where there's been a rather unusual kidnapping attempt on the nation's Queen Tassara." He then brought a picture of a man with a goatee and wearing a Fez hat.
G BEGE.
"We suspect it was perpetrated by the neighboring nation of Kenyopia. The countries have been at war for 20 years."
"What do you mean by 'unusual kidnapping attempt?'" Sam asks him.
"Apparently, the perpetrator used some sort of anti-gravity device to literally lift the Queen from her palace."
"Cool!" Alex exclaims before Jerry stares at her. "I mean, that's terrible. Just terrible."
"Precisely why I'm sending you to protect Her Majesty. We don't want the conflict to escalate and spill over into other nations."
"Great, how am I supposed to campaign when I'm stuck in Africa?" Clover sighs as she crosses her arms.
"And now for the gadgets... Today, girls, you'll be receiving Heat Sensor 6,000 Infrared Motion-Detector Sunglasses and Compressed Water Capsules for proper desert hydration. Naruto, you'll get that as well. High-Sensitivity Electromagnetic Bracelets…" He trailed off as he showed the bracelet and was lifted to the ceiling. "Whoa!" He then turned it off and dropped it. "Heh-Heh! Powerful little gadget. And, last but not least, keys to a brand-new R.A.T.V.A.T."
"A brand-new rat, what?" Alex asks as Jerry shows a tank with a drill and large treads.
"A R.A.T.V.A.T. Rugged All-Terrain Vehicle and Tunneler. It'll be waiting when you arrive at the palace. And don't ding it, we just had it painted. Naruto, you'll have taser webs, your cloaking device, and your drone."
"And how do we get to the palace?" Naruto asks as the drone crawls onto his shoulder.
They all dropped into a torpedo and were shot into the water. "Ta-ta."
Lyrobian Desert –01:05 PM
"This map is completely useless. It's just sand, sand, and more sand."
Sam said as all of them rode camels across the desert, dressed in clothing for the high heat and head coverings.
"Well, we'd better get to civilization soon, cos this heat is totally drying out my skin. I need a mud mask ASAP!" Alex whines as Clover leans forward on her seat and sighs.
"It's official, this country is completely miserable, and so am I. I can kiss my dreams of becoming Homecoming Queen goodbye!"
"Too bad you didn't have someone back home who could do your campaigning for you." Alex muses as Clover smiles.
"That's it!" She brought out her compowder and called the boy from earlier. "Arnold. It's Clover. You know, your best friend. I'm out of town, and I was wondering if your offer to help me with my campaign still stands?"
"Of course, Clover."
"You will? That's great!"
"When monkeys fly! You mean, mean, mean person!" Arnold yells as she smiles.
"C'mon, Arnold! It wasn't my fault. I ate some bad sushi that made me act that way."
"OK. I'll help you… On one condition."
"Anything, Arnold. Just name it." She nodded before Arnold continued.
"When you get back, you have to be my girlfriend for one full week."
"What?! Ooh…" She glances in front of her at Naruto's back. "Look, I'm interested in someone." She whispers. "Could I owe you a favor after getting elected?"
"Well… Alright."
"I say it's high time we call Jerry and ask for real directions and get out of this desert!" Sam sighs as Naruto looks at the palace that comes into view.
"Or we could go there."
"You guys, be on your best behavior. Remember, we're dealing with a real Queen." Sam said to the group.
"Yes, Mom."
Sam glared at Naruto before they went to the palace.
Inside, the spies looked at Tassara, and another woman was on the throne. Tassara's wearing a gold 3-round tip crown that has dark-red beads that are strung in a curved fashion and attached to the ends of the crown. She has a forehead accessory, which is a dark-red circle held up by strings. Her other accessories are gold semi-thick upper arm and wrist bracelets, gold hoop earrings, and a gold choker with 3 magenta ovals.
Her outfit consists of a cream tube top and a long skirt that has a lilac-colored cloth that wraps around her waist, at its center is a red gem, and from here, the rest of the cloth is loose and flows down the center of the dress.
The other woman has dark skin, light brown eyes, and black hair in a bun held in place using a gold band, on both sides of her head; she lets some strands of hair loose. She accessorizes with gold triangle earrings, forearm covering bracelets, and a left upper arm bangle. She's wearing a green halter dress with a gold collar and slit on the left side, and a gold band on the waist decorated with three small triangles. Her shoes have green heels.
"Welcome to Lyrobia. I'm Queen Tassara, and this is my sister Makeda. I assume you've been briefed about the kidnapping attempt."
"Totally! I'm mean... Indeed." Clover corrected herself before continuing. "Jerry told us all about it. Sounds positively frightening, Your Honor."
"Especially considering the King of Kenyopia and I are to attend a peace conference in Geneva to sign a war-ending treaty. The fate of our nations depends on my safety." Tassara explained as Alex looked at her.
"Well, the best way to keep her Excellency safe is to keep her, I mean, you, out of sight."
"True, unfortunately, the palace is having a celebratory party tonight and I'm obligated to attend."
"Well, in that case, we'd better come up with a plan," Sam says before the guard walks up to them.
"Excuse me, but I need to consult with Makeda about this evening's festivities."
"Excuse us, Your Majesty. I can't tell you how grateful our people are to have your protection." Makeda hugs her sister and leaves with the guard.
"Thank you, would you be so kind as to show us where the kidnapping attempt occurred?" Naruto asks her.
Later, they're in the large bedroom looking around. "Well, besides the solid gold bed, nothing looks out of the ordinary to me." Clover shrugs as Alex crouches down to see green dirt.
"Except for the floor. It's totally dirty. I mean, no offense, Your Highness."
The others walked over before Tassara spoke. "This is where I landed when Akim saved me from the anti-gravity ray."
Sam knelt and picked some of it up. "Hmm. I'll send a sample to Jerry for analysis right away." She put it in a testing tube. "Now, about tonight's party, I was thinking one of us should pose as Tassara while the other two pose as servants and thwart any kidnapping attempts. What do you think?"
"It's a great idea, Sammy!" Clover appeared beside the Queen and took the tiara. "Of course, I'll play the role of Queen. Now that I get to be a real Queen, a fake real one at least, I couldn't care less about being a dumb, high-school Homecoming Queen!" She continued looking at herself in the mirror.
"I wonder what my first Queenly duty should be? Oh, I know! I'll go on a royal shopping spree."
"Uh, Clover, why don't you let Tassara decide what your 'duties' should be?" Sam asks, bringing Clover out of her fantasy.
Lyrobian Palace Ballroom –09:32 PM.
Naruto, using his cloak, walked around the room as his drone was crawling on the ceiling, while Clover, dressed like Tassara with a wig, and the others dressed in disguises with face coverings, looked around the full room of guests.
"Man, I thought being the Queen was supposed to be fun. This reeks!" Clover whined as she shook hands with another guest.
Suddenly, Makeda fainted, having Clover and Akim took her to another room before the lights went out. "Could be the kidnappers! We'd better investigate!" Sam said as Alex took Tassara to hide behind the curtains as a precaution.
"Hide behind here, Your Majesty!"
"I don't see anything, but I definitely smell something!" Sam said as Naruto walked up and smelled smoke.
They went to the kitchen and turned on the lights where a compowder was being charged that blew the outlet,
"Ooopsie. Guess this wasn't the best place to recharge my compowder." Alex says as Sam sighs.
"Well, at least it's just a blown fuse and not the kidnappers."
They then heard screaming before running out to see Clover being kidnapped and being pulled up into the air via the green beam. Naruto ran over and jumped up, shooting a web and was pulled up. As they got to the window, one of the kidnappers cut the web, causing Naruto to fall on the couch and fall on the floor. He got up, only to wince as his back cracked. "Ah! My back!"
"Makeda has been kidnapped, too!" Akim ran back in. "I went to check on her and she's gone!"
Later, the group is outside as Naruto's drone takes a sample of more of the green powder that was on the outside deck.
"Whoa. Déjà vu." Alex said as the drone jumped up on Naruto's shoulder and projected Jerry at a table, drinking tea.
"Good evening, spies. How's the mission going?"
"Clover and the Queen's sister have been kidnapped," Naruto said to him.
"Oh, my!"
"So, do you have any info on the sample we sent you?" Sam asks him. "I think it might help us find them."
"Oh, yes, actually, the residue. Apparently, it's some kind of magnetic compound found only on asteroids in outer space."
"Asteroids? That's strange." Alex muses as the others look at her. "And sad. I mean, just think of poor Clover. She hates outer space. She got a "D" in astronomy class."
"I wonder if this has anything to do with the asteroid crater in the Northern part of Lyrobia." Tassara muses to them.
"We'll find out when we get there. C'mon, Alex, Naruto!
"Wait. What about Queen Tassara?" Alex asks before the Queen looks at them.
"I'm coming with you. I've got to find Makeda. I feel responsible."
"I don't know... It might not be safe." Sam sighs out before Tassara looks at her.
"Well, it isn't exactly safe here."
"Good point/Good point." The two girls sighed.
Later, the group is in the R.A.T.V.A.T. with the spies in their catsuits, with Alex drinking from a cup. "You know, the desert's not all that bad when you don't have to cross it on a stinky old camel." Alarms suddenly went off as a sandstorm started. "Forget what I said, the desert sucks no matter how you cross it!"
"Get ready to dive!" Sam yells, starting the drill and going under the sand as a periscope comes out above them before going back down after Alex looks through it.
Somewhere In Lyrobia –11:23 PM.
"Pfft! Is this any way to treat a queen?"
Clover asked as she was ungagged in a box in ruins. A man with a beard pulled her wig off and tossed it at another.
"That's not the Queen, you fools! You've got the wrong girl! Now go find Queen Tassara and bring her to me immediately!"
"What should we do with this one?" Another man asks.
"She's useless to us. Ship her to Siberia." He replies and closes the box on Clover.
Asteroid Crater –07:21 PM.
Out by the jungle near the ruins, the R.A.T.V.A.T. came out scaring birds. "This is it," Tassara says to them as they all get out and see the large crater with a building ruin in the middle.
"Talk about a change of scenery," Alex says as the girls put their glasses on.
"If there's any activity around here, we should be able to find it with these," Sam mused, crossing her arms.
"I see something across the crater! It's coming this way! Maybe it's the kidnappers!" Alex pointed as Naruto looked and saw a lion.
"… Run."
They all ran screaming as two lions jumped out of the bushes and chased them. They ran to the crater and jumped in, sliding to the bottom. "I guess you finally got the mud mask you wanted." Sam sat as they landed in the mud.
"Look!" Alex pointed to the ruins where they saw boxes and lights. "This must be it. I mean, it practically screams 'bad-guy hideout'."
"This looks like the dust we found in Tassara's room. Let's check it out." Sam said, seeing the dust on the ground before walking into the building.
"Maybe I was wrong. It doesn't look like anyone's been here for a hundred years." Alex muses, sitting on a box.
And broke it, revealing a tied-up Clover. "Hey!"
"Clover!"
"Have you seen Makeda?" Sam asks as Alex starts untying Clover.
"I'm fine, thank you for asking! And no, I haven't seen Makeda. I haven't seen anything but the inside of this crate!"
"I'm right here."
They looked to see Makeda in front of them.
"Oh! Makeda! You're OK!" Tassara ran over and hugged her sister.
Only for Makeda to push her back. "Yes. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for you five." They were then hit with the anti-gravity ray. "You're being kidnapped, once and for all."
"But why?" Sam asks her.
"How else can I stop you from going to Geneva and signing that treaty? You see, if the war ends, I won't be able to sell my anti-gravity guns to the General of Kenyopia."
"I don't get it. Why would you sell weapons to the enemy?" Sam asks Makeda.
"It's simple, really. I struck a deal. When Kenyopia wins the war, I'll be the Queen of both countries! In fact, I'm going to Lyrobia's weapons factory right now to finalize my deal with the General. Besides, it's time you passed the crown."
"But what about us? You can't just leave us floating here forever!" Tassara said to her sister.
"Don't worry, Sis. You won't be floating for long. This place is rigged to explode in a matter of minutes. So long."
Makeda turned, only to see webs hitting the man standing at the weapon, shocking him. Then, she was hit with the taser's webs, knocking her out.
W.O.O.H.P. helicopters then landed before Jerry walked out. "Excellent work, spies. I've got agents going to the factory-"
"No time for congratulations! You have to get Tassara to the Peace Conference in Geneva right away."
Clover says as they all run into the copter.
Beverly Hills High School –10:12 AM.
Naruto blinked as he saw Clover had won Queen for the homecoming. "… I guess Arnold was true to his word," Naruto said as on the way, Clover talked about having Arnold help her win.
