My Hero Academia: A Second Chance
Chapter 7: Time for School. Again.
"Jeez, I will never get the hang of these things."
Today was the morning of my first day at UA and while I was incredibly happy and excited to start, I couldn't get the damn tie right.
When I got my acceptance letter, my family and I celebrated with a massive feast. I also received a packet that was full of information I needed to fill out. Things like any kind of medical necessities the school needed to know about or any kind of disabilities a student may have. They then asked what I wanted to include in my hero costume which was fun while doing it. I didn't have much fashion sense when it came to how my costume would look but I knew what I wanted to add so it would be cool to see how it would look once I got it.
After several attempts of trying to tie my tie, I gave up and focused on making sure I looked proper for my first day. The uniform was what I remembered from the anime. The slacks were a dark blue almost black color with a white button-up and a greyish colored jacket. The uniform was more comfortable than I expected and easy to move around in. If things got out of hand when I was out on the street, at least I could still move.
I wore a pair of dark blue sneakers on my feet with the necklace my grandmother gave me along with some leather wrist bands on my wrists. I kept the jacket and the shirt open to reveal the dark blue and grey T-shirt underneath. I'd always hated uniforms, but this wasn't bad for a hero school. As I checked myself over in my mirror, a knock at my door caught my attention.
"Come in."
The door opens and my dad steps in. He stops in his tracks when he sees me in my uniform, a smile breaking out on his face.
"Wow, looking good son."
His praise makes me smile and my cheeks warm up just a bit, "Thanks pops."
He looks at the tie resting on my bed and chuckles, "Tie giving you trouble?"
I groan loudly, "Yes! This thing is a monster. I don't know how people can wear these."
He shakes his head with a chuckle and grabs the tie. He stands in front of me and wraps it around my neck, tying it properly for me. I felt like an idiot at the fact that I had to have my dad help me get dressed but I never had luck with ties. Even in my old life I never figured out how to make them work properly. At least dad was here to help.
He finishes tying it into a nice knot but gave it a little bit of slack, so it hung around my neck, "There we go."
I grin, "Thanks pops." I say with a smile. Suddenly I feel the weight of what was about to happen in the next few minutes when I leave my house. My smile falters as I begin to realize just how big a moment this is.
Dad seems to sense my worry and places his hands on my shoulders, "It's natural to feel nervous son. This is the big leagues now. The first step to making your dreams of becoming a hero true."
I nod, "I know that dad but what if I can't cut it? What if I get to school and I wash out on my first day?"
"Don't think like that Tatsuya. Remember all the times you worked yourself to the bone. The days when you'd be covered in sweat and your muscles burned in agony. Remember the times with your grandfather and your friends. All the lessons your mother and I have taught you. You earned your spot at UA and from here on out, it's on you to make the most of this chance you've been given."
Dad's words struck me right to my core. He was right. My entire life has been leading to this moment. All the work, all the training, all the tears, this was what it was for. My parents, my siblings, my grandfather, they all worked themselves their entire lives to get to where they were now. And now it was my turn. This was my moment.
I looked my dad in the eye and gave him a nod. He smiles and we wrap each other in a tight hug. It was moments like this where I felt blessed to have been reborn as the son of Juan Montgomery. He was the best kind of father I could have asked for and by the lord above and the powers that brought me to this new world, I would not let all the lessons he and my family members instilled in me go to waste.
After some more time together, dad and I headed downstairs where my mother was waiting. My brother and sister had to work so they couldn't see me off on my first day, but we spent a lot of time celebrating when I passed the entrance exam.
Mom spent nearly an hour just taking pictures of me in my uniform before dad was able to calm her down. We all shared one last hug together before I grabbed my backpack and headed for the door. Before I left, I stopped in front of the family altar which showed a picture of my grandfather. We set this up a few years after his death as a reminder that even though he was gone, he was still with us.
I stood in front of the altar, closed my eyes, and clapped my hands to say a prayer for my grandfather's memory. I knew he'd be watching over me during my time becoming a hero.
I give one last look to my parents, smiling at their proud faces, "I'm off." I say giving a small bow.
When I raised my head, I could see the unshed tears in my mother's eyes as she tried to keep herself together. Dad gives me a smile and nods back, "Give em Hell son."
With a smile breaking out on my face, I waved my parents goodbye and left my house. Stepping out onto the Musutafu streets, it amazed me just how accustomed I've gotten to living here. Even though my mother was Japanese, I looked more like my father, so most people assumed I was a foreigner. I didn't mind it honestly. In my old life, I was an African-American boy obsessed with Japan so being Black, Brazilian, Mexican, and Japanese was sort of a nice way to pay homage to my old life in a way.
I walked through the streets of my hometown, crossing a street as the light turned green. As I stepped onto the pavement of the opposing street, I heard feet running against the sidewalk. I noticed a long-haired girl my age running past me, but her foot hit the curb, causing her to yelp and went falling forward. Activating my inner lightning, I rush over and caught her in my arms before she hit the ground. Her arms instinctively wrapped around my neck as she held onto me tight.
I take a breath as I let my lightning dissolve, I stand to my full height, "Whoa, that was close. Are you ok…"
My words caught in my throat as I lay eyes on the incredibly beautiful young woman I held in my arms. She had fair skin, devoid of any marks, scars, or moles, with the most stunning pair of green eyes I had ever seen. By holding her I could tell she had a toned yet curvy figure which I could appreciate. Her hair was long enough to reach her shoulders and was a stunning shade of dark purple that seemed to accentuate her natural beauty. But that wasn't the only thing that shocked me.
Before I could help myself, I blurted up, "Sana?" I said looking her in her eyes.
The girl I mistook for Sana looked up at me with wide, doe eyes and a flush of pink on her cheeks as she shook her head, "Um, no, I'm, not…"
Her words broke me out of my stupor, and I shook my head, "Oh, uh sorry. For a moment you looked like someone I knew." I said, placing her back on her feet.
The girl stumbled a bit before settling. She dusted herself off and looked up at me, "Well thanks for the save." She said, giving me a bright smile.
I respond with a smile of my own, "No problem. Just glad I was nearby."
Now that she was in front of me, I could get a good look at the outfit she was wearing, "Hey, is that a UA uniform?" I ask.
The girl nods and does a little twirl, "You bet it is! Today's my first day at UA High!"
I give a chuckle, "Wow, talk about coincidence. It's my first day too." I say gesturing to my own uniform.
She gives off a small squeal, "No way! That's awesome. I haven't even gotten to school yet and I already meet a classmate!"
I nod, "I guess so. Name's Tatsuya by the way. Tatsuya Montgomery." I say giving a small bow.
The girl, instead of doing a bow, gives me a cute curtsey, "Kayama Kasumi. Pleasure to meet you, Tatsuya-kun."
I couldn't help but chuckle at how adorable she looked, "First name basis already?" I say playfully.
Kasumi giggles, "Well you did sweep me off my feet so I figured we could skip the formalities."
I nod, "Fair enough. Well with that out of the way, should get going?"
Kasumi nods and wraps her arms around my arm, "You bet! Let's go!" she said as she drags me down the road.
"Whoa, hey, Kasumi! Slow down!"
MHA
It didn't take us long to get to UA, the familiar blue arch coming into view. Kasumi was worried that we wouldn't get to school on time but when I told her what time school started, she calmed down a bit, but her energy was still obvious. She also hadn't let go of my arm since she started dragging me towards the famous hero school. A part of me liked it but a part of me felt like I was about to get tossed into a cliché anime scenario.
Kasumi leans in close to me, "You know Tatsuya-kun, you never told me why you called me Sana when you saw me."
'Shit!'
I cursed in my head hoping she had forgotten that little slip of the tongue I made when I caught her, but I wasn't getting off that easily apparently.
I swallow as I look away from her, "Oh, it's nothing. You just looked like someone I knew from awhile back."
She didn't seem satisfied and continued pressing, "Really? Someone special?" she asked.
I scratch the back of my head, "I wouldn't say special more like, someone I could always recognize."
That seemed to make her smile, "So, I'm someone you could always recognize?" she said batting her eyelashes.
That made me chuckle, "Kasumi, I'm sure that in any crowd, you'd definitely stand out."
Kasumi cheeks turned a light pink as she giggles, "Aww, Tatsuya-kun! You sure know how to make a girl feel special."
I shrug, "I grew up with an older sister. I kind of learned the right phrases to both say and avoid when talking to girls."
Kasumi giggled. Thank God I still knew how to talk to girls. With my older mentality I didn't get as flustered as a regular guy my age would.
As we get closer to the gate, I see two familiar faces approaching as well.
"Hey, Daisuke! Juka!" I say calling out to my two friends.
They both turned their heads and waved at me. Juka wore the regular female version of the uniform like Kasumi, but she had a dark blue hoodie wrapped around her waist. Daisuke wore the same style uniform as me and he kept his shirt open to show off the dark brown t-shirt underneath with the tie untied and hanging off his neck.
As Kasumi and I approach, Daisuke and I high-five, "Good to see you both. I guess you aren't a fan of neck ties either huh?" I say gesturing to Daisuke.
The bear-shifter let out a grunt, "Hell no. These things make me feel like I'm caught in a neck snare, but my mom wouldn't let me walk out of the house unless I had it on."
I chuckle, "I feel your pain dude. My pops had to help me out with mine." I say looking at Juka.
"Uniform looks good on you Juka."
She giggles and flips her hair, "I like to think so too Tatsuya. So, who's your friend?" she asks, looking at Kasumi.
I turn my head to the girl on my arm, "This is Kasumi. I met her this morning. Kasumi, these are my friends Mizunoto Juka and Kumasuka Daisuke.
Kasumi unlatches herself from my arm and gives a curtsey, "Hello! Nice to meet you both. Kayama Kasumi at your service." She says with a bright smile.
Daisuke chuckles, "Damn Tatsuya. First day of school and you already have a girl on your arm." He says with a grin.
I roll my eyes, "Oh shut up. Not like I planned on it."
Kasumi giggles and wraps her arms around mine once more, "Well, neither did I but I have to admit. Being around Tatsuya-kun is very appealing."
I sigh as my friends' chuckle at how forward Kasumi was. It was a different aspect I hadn't seen in a lot of girls my age, so it was kind of refreshing. I shake my head as all four of us make our way onto the school grounds. Some light banter was exchanged between us as we walked through the halls of the illustrious hero school. It was an incredible feeling that I had a chance to walk through this amazing building that would serve as the backdrop for numerous milestones in the My Hero Academia universe. Now that I was here, only time would tell how my being here would change the course of the story.
As all four of us near the massive door that bared the name 1A, we all stopped in front of it.
Daisuke swallows hard, "Wow, so this is it?"
Juka nods, "Yeah, behind this door are the best of the best that passed the exams of UA and made it in."
Kasumi began to shake as she stood close to me, her hands instinctively grabbing my sleeve for stability. I placed a hand over hers to give her a sense of comfort. She smiles gratefully at me. Her green eyes shining with a growing confidence.
I nod, "Well, there's no time like the present. Let's see what Class 1-A has to offer us." I say grabbing the handle and pulling the door open.
As we walked inside the classroom, only a few students were there but I recognized each one. Todoroki Shoto with his half-scared face, Yaoyorozu Momo with her spiky ponytail, Ashido Mina with her bubblegum pink hair…
"Ah, more classmates!"
And of course, the overly enthusiastic yet dedicated Iida Tenya.
He looked exactly as I remembered him from the series. As he approached us, I realized he was shorter than me by a few inches, but I wasn't all that surprised given how my 6'2 height made me taller than most other boys my age.
Iida began waving his arms in the familiar, stiff robotic movements I remembered as he introduced himself, "Greetings fellows! I am Iida Tenya from Somei Private High School. It is truly an honor to meet fellow heroes in the making attending the illustrious school that is UA!" he says waving his arms around.
All four of us blink at Iida's enthusiasm and general in-your-face personality but I knew from watching the series he wasn't a bad guy. He was just the kind of guy who put his heart, soul, and faith into everything that involved being a true hero.
I give the blue haired guy a smile, "Nice to meet you too Iida. I'm Tatsuya Montgomery and these are my friends. Mizunoto Juka, Kumasuka Daisuke, and Kayama Kasumi.
All three of my friends greet Iida who gives them an enthusiastic greeting. He was just as I remembered him from the series. Strong, kind, and noble. He was still in the early days form before he dealt with the drama of the attack on his brother and I know just how much that moment changes him but hopefully, with the help of a few more friends, he won't fall down that hole of depression he finds himself in.
After the introductions were done, my friends and I found our seats. Kasumi found herself in a friendly conversation with Yaoyorozu who was just as lovely as I remembered. More and more students began filling in and I noticed the roster of students was different from the original series. I didn't see Aoyama, Rikido, Mineta, or Hagakure. Were they not here because of me? Did my being reincarnated into this world change the members of Class 1-A to accommodate me and my friends?
If that was the case, I'd have to accept it. I know for a fact my friends and I deserved our spots at UA, and we were gonna rock this school.
"GET YOUR FEET OFF THAT DESK THIS INSTANT!"
Iida's loud voice broke through my thoughts as I caught sight of him chewing out Bakugo for his posture.
"Don't you have any respect for the men and women that used these desks before us?!"
Daisuke raised an eyebrow, "Jeez, who put the stick up Iida's ass?"
I just chuckle, "I think he's just a little too overly enthusiastic about being a hero."
Daisuke shrugs, "That's one word I'd use."
As Iida continued to berate Bakugo and the exploding blonde continued to antagonize the future Class 1-A Rep, the doors to the classroom slid open to reveal the familiar face of Midoriya Izuku and his new friend Uraraka Ochaco. Even today I can see the eventual shipping scenarios with how embarrassed the skinny green bean was when talking to the cute brunette.
Iida walks up to Midoriya and introduces himself, giving the greenette a deep bow and a few words of how he misjudged the guy during the Entrance Exam. Even as Midoriya tries to brush off Iida's words, in my mind I could see just how close these two would become in the future.
My eyes drift to the ground where I see something yellow and long crawl into the classroom behind Midoriya. I jump to my feet and move past them, "Uh, guys, am I the only seeing a giant yellow caterpillar crawling on the ground?"
All eyes turned towards the thing that I was looking at with some jumping to their feet in case a fight was gonna break out. The caterpillar rolls around to reveal the face of a man with sunken eyes and pale skin.
"Huh, so someone actually noticed me."
The man's voice was deep and resonating as he began to stand up and step out of the sleeping back to reveal his lean yet built figure dressed in a skin-tight black suit with a long grey scarf around his neck. I smile when I lay my eyes on the man himself, Aizawa Shota. The Erasure Hero: Eraser Head. The man who would come to train and teach some of the best future heroes Japan would see.
"If it wasn't for this one informing you all about my arrival, it would have taken a lot more time to calm down." He said pointing at me.
"I'm Aizawa Shota, your homeroom teacher."
I could almost feel the shocked looks of my classmates as they absorbed the information about our new teacher. I couldn't blame them. The way he was now, not many people would believe that a man who looked the way he was but for those like me who knew the man's reputation could see that beneath all the unassuming appearances he gave off, he was one of the best heroes to have in your corner.
Aizawa reached into his bag and pulled out a set of blue and white gym clothes set in a bag. He tosses it to me, and I catch it in my hands, "For now, put those on and meet me outside."
I smile as I look down at the package of wrapped clothing in my hands. Things were about to get serious from this point on, so it was time for me to show just what Tatsuya Montgomery could do.
MHA
"A Quirk Assessment Test?!"
Yep, exactly as I remembered.
After we all changed into our gym clothes, all of Class 1-A met on the lawn of the school's sports field. Aizawa-sensei told us that we were all about to do an assessment test to see where we were currently standing with our Quirks.
"But the orientation!" Ochaco protested as she tried to get our homeroom teacher to see some kind of reason. "We're going to miss it!"
Sensei scoffs, "If you want to be heroes that can make a difference then you can't waste time with pointless ceremonies. Here at UA, we aren't tethered to traditions which means I get to run my class however I see fit."
Our teachers' words got confused looks from my classmates, and I couldn't blame them. Seeing him in person I could see just how much of a nontraditional teacher he was.
"You've all been taking standardized tests like this your whole lives. But you've never had the chance to use your Quirks in physical exams before. Hopefully one day, the Ministry of Education will learn that it's not rational to assume everyone is equal and stop letting people be held back by not using their Quirks to the fullest."
A holographic screen appears behind our teacher, showcasing numerous different physical tests. He then reaches into his pocket and pulls out a metal softball and tosses it to me.
"Montgomery, what was your farthest distance throw with a softball when you were in Junior High?"
I toss the ball in my hands a few times as I think it over, "68-69 meters give or take."
Sensei nods, "Right. Step into this circle and throw that ball as hard as you can using your Quirk. Anything goes so long as you stay inside the circle. Make it quick, you're wasting time."
I nodded and stepped into the circle. The metal ball wasn't all that heavy so if I gave it a good toss, it would go far. But sensei wanted us to see just how strong we were so there was reason not to show off what I was packing.
I crack my neck and stretch my arms out a bit. I unzip my jacket and let it flow in the air. I then charge my body up with my inner lightning. Sparks of electricity coating my entire body, increasing my natural physical abilities but I wasn't done yet. I swung my arms in front of me and summoned a massive azure tornado around me, whipping up sand and causing my classmates to cover their eyes.
"Holy crap! That is some serious wind."
"He's whipping up so much force while keeping it contained to a single area."
"If he can do this, what else can he do?"
"Go for it, Tatsuya-kun!"
Not gonna lie, hearing Kasumi cheer for me put a smile on my face but I needed to focus. I slide my right foot back and move into a pitcher's stance. Breathing deeply as I let the electric powers I controlled flow through my body. With a determined grunt, I brought my arm back and tossed the ball with all my might. The ball went flying due to my increased strength and with the added force of the cyclone, it flew even farther.
After a while the wind died down and I cut off my electricity. Turning to my teacher he brought out a smartphone-like device which showcased my score of 820 meters.
"All of you need to know about your maximum capabilities, it's the most practical way of figuring out your path as a hero."
"Holy crap a score of 820?!"
"Are you kidding me? He's got that much strength?"
"This looks like fun! I wanna try!"
"This is what I'm talking about. Using our Quirks as much as we want."
As I rejoin my friends and classmates, I cross my arms, "I wouldn't get too excited about this one guys. Something tells me our teacher isn't going to let our first day be an easy one."
Aizawa-sensei smirked as he hears my words, "At least one of you have some sense. That's right. If you all want to be heroes, then you need to understand that the world isn't all fun and games. Which is why at the end of these tests, the person with the lowest ranked score…will be expelled."
Gasps ring out among all my classmates as shock hits them deep in their souls. I couldn't blame them. While I wasn't worried about myself, I knew that there were some among my new classmates whose Quirks wouldn't aid them in every single aspect of the tests and with four of the original group no longer on the roster, there's no telling what could happen.
Daisuke let out a growl next to me, "The Hell does this teacher think he's doing? After everything we all went to get here." He says as his teeth begin to sharpen, and his muscles begin to grow.
I quickly placed a hand on my new friend's shoulder and grip hard, leaning in and whispering in his ear, "Daisuke, calm down. Breathe. This isn't the place for you to lose yourself. Besides, I don't think our teacher would be doing this if he didn't have a reason. Think about it. Why would he tell us to give it our all and then threaten us with expulsion?"
Daisuke's breathing began to calm, and his transformation began to settle. He lets out a deep breath, "I guess you have a point Tatsuya. Thanks man. That would've been a real embarrassment if I lost control of my Quirk on the first day."
I nod and pat his shoulder, "Just happy to help bud." I say as we fist-bump.
Ochaco steps forward, "But it's the first day! We all worked so hard to get here. You can't expel us after we all made it here. It's just not fair."
Despite the sincerity in her words, I couldn't help but scoff at Ochaco's words, "Sorry chica, but if you think being a hero will ever be fair then you may as well look for a different profession."
She as well as many of our classmates look at me, "What are you saying?" Ochaco asks.
I sigh, "Look, fair isn't a word that exists in the world of heroes. They must deal with natural disasters, power hungry villains, catastrophic accidents, even small-time criminals. Every single day they throw themselves into the fire and put their lives in danger so ordinary citizens don't have to worry about whether they need to be afraid of walking down the street at night or coming home from work.
My words seemed to strike all my classmates. Many of them had their own reasons for being a hero and for coming to UA but not a lot of them knew the dangers that heroes had to feel and see in their daily lives. Even in my past life, one of my closest friends was a firefighter and medic and I would see just how much that career would take out of him daily.
As I grew up in my new life, I'd often see the scars, both inside and outside, on my family members. The days when my parents and siblings would come home with far away looks on their eyes when they would walk through the doors. Whether they were in the hero field anymore or not, it wasn't an easy life to live.
"We all made it into UA but just because we did, we can't assume that this journey is going to be like any other high school because, well, we aren't ordinary high school kids. We're the next generation of heroes. And that means we must deal with all the things that may seem unfair. Because if we can't deal with the struggles we have in school, how are we gonna face the challenges that happen on the streets?"
As all my classmates take in my words, I can see in their eyes that they are finally starting to see the impact that we could all have on the world when we do become heroes. In the future when we'd all face off against Villains like Shigaraki and All for One, we would need to be ready for whatever they would throw at us.
Aizawa-sensei smirked, "Montgomery is right. For the next three years you will be going through numerous trials and tribulations both in and out of the classroom. And this is the first hurdle you need to jump over. So be sure to give it your all. Plus, Ultra style."
After those words were spoken, everyone gained a new fire in their eyes. It was time to put up or shut up.
MHA
The first event was 50-meter dash. I was at the starting line with Kaminari, Asui, and Juka next to me. I crouch into a runner's stance and when the starting gun goes off, I charge by body with electricity to enhance my speed. Shooting off with a quick gust of wind, my enhanced body rushes across the pitch and pass the line.
"2.15 seconds."
The robot that was watching our times spoke my score. The result made me smile. Next after me was Juka, then Asui, and finally Kaminari.
As Juka and I high-five, Kaminari braces his hands on his knees breathing heavily.
He looks up at me, "Man that was brutal. Hey, you have a Quirk like mine so how is it you can use it the way you do?
I smile at him, "Well, it's a lot simpler than you might think. Your Quirk is electric based right?"
He nods, "Yeah, I can store and release electricity, but I don't have a lot of control over it so it kind of goes everywhere. But I can cover my body with it and charge electronics."
I nod in understanding, "Okay, well, instead of releasing your electricity out of your body, have you ever tried spreading it through your body internally?"
He gives me a confused look, "Huh?"
I chuckle, "Think of it like this. Instead of discharging it, try charging your muscles with it. That's what I do. I summon electricity through my body and spread it throughout my body, so I don't overwhelm one part of my body and potentially blow it off."
Kaminari looks terrified, "You could blow off a limb?!"
I nod, "Oh yeah. Think of our bodies like machines. If you continuously charge just one part of the machine, it becomes too much and it explodes.
The blonde boy nods his head, "Oh, I get you. But how do I send the electricity through my body without shocking those around me?
I put a fist in front of his face, "Focus on one part of your body. Send electricity into one singular area, hold it for a few moments, and let it coat that area. That way you can still use your Quirk without hitting anyone around you."
I can see the look of realization on Kaminari's face, "Oh that makes sense! Thanks man I really appreciate it! I think I'll try it out for the next event."
I flick his forehead, "Don't do that. Doing something you've never done before is a test like this could be dangerous for you. Just stick to what you know for now then we can focus on growing a new technique for the future."
Kaminari nods, "Oh I get you," he says as he looks at Juka, "By the way, is your friend over there single?"
MHA
The next event was Grip Strength. I was fairly confident with this event. Using my electricity, I enhanced my strength and made it to about 450 kilograms of force. Daisuke and Shoji managed to tie when it came to pure strength. That shocked me, like damn! I knew they had power but damn! That's a lot of power.
I looked over and saw Midoriya freaking out as he got a very basic score. I knew he couldn't do anything major since he didn't have full control over One for All yet, but I couldn't help but feel bad for the guy.
I had to help him some way.
MHA
We then came to the standing long jump. I used my wind powers to take me way over the top and score one of the top scores.
After I land on the ground I step to the side and let my classmates take their turns as well. I looked at Kasumi who stepped up to take her turn. Her jacket was open to reveal her toned midriff, and her long hair was tied into a ponytail. She did a few stretches before taking several steps back. She ran towards the bar and right before jumping off the ground, she launched a burst of what looks like pressurized mist from the palms of her hands. She goes flying into the air and over the bar, landing on the ground with a roll.
Her form was good and the way she used her Quirk told me she had a lot of experience using her Quirk in a variety of ways.
After she dusts herself off, I walk up to her, "Nice work Kasumi. Was that mist you just fired off?"
Kasumi stretches her arm over her chest and smiles at me, "That's right. My Quirk allows me to generate and manipulate various types of mists. I can shape them, increase their pressure, and even release them in bursts from my hands or feet. Each one has its own scent and a lot of times, the scents can cause different effects on the people around me."
I blink, "Really? Wow, that's interesting. I don't think I've ever seen a Quirk like that before."
Kasumi giggles, "Guess I'm just a unique kind of girl." She says waving her hand in my face, releasing a mist that was scented like fresh apple pie.
I inhale deeply and let out a contented sigh, "Damn, that's nice."
My comment makes her giggle again. I don't know why but I find myself staring at her. Something about Kasumi just made my heart feel at ease. Even though we just met today, I was happy I got the chance to meet her in this life. She was, literally, a breath of fresh air.
MHA
The repeated side-steps went by quickly. With Mineta not here, no one killed it with the event, but everyone got a decent score.
With that out of the way, we all make our way back to the area where we could do the rest of the ball throws. I see Midoriya walking slowly. I make my way over to him and pat him on the back.
"Yo Midoriya, why you look so down?"
He jumps at the contact, "Gah! Oh Montgomery-kun. Oh, uh, it's nothing I'm just a little nervous I guess."
I nod, "Yeah that makes sense given our teacher isn't exactly typical. But what about you? I have got to admit it's a bit of a shock to see you here. Last time we met you said you were Quirkless."
Midoriya looks scared for a moment as his eyes begin to dart back and forth like he's trying to come up with an answer. "Oh, well, I was Quirkless, but it manifested a few months ago."
I nod, "Oh, I get you. So, you're a late bloomer. Is that why you aren't using your Quirk? You can't control it yet?"
He nods, a sad smile on his face, "Yeah. My Quirk gives me a massive increase in strength, but my body can't handle the output yet.
I see what he meant, "I feel you; I went through something like that when I first got my Quirk. Strength-enhancing Quirks can be a major problem in the long run if you don't find a way to balance out the power. Tell me, what happened when you first used your Quirk?"
We came to the ball throwing area with everyone else but stayed towards the back of the group so we could talk.
"Well, when I first used it I… ended up breaking all the bones in one of my arms and legs."
I couldn't help but wince, "Ouch. That must have hurt but I can already see where you went wrong."
The greenette looks at me with a shocked look, "Really?"
I nod, "Oh yeah. Let me guess, you used every ounce of power you had when you threw that attack didn't you?"
He nods.
"Do you see your problem?"
He thinks for a moment but doesn't come up with an answer which makes me chuckle.
"Dude, you can't throw every ounce of power your Quirk gives you in one big burst. I mean, you ended up breaking three of your limbs just using it once."
Midoriya sighs, "Yeah, I know that, but I need to give it everything I have if I want to be a hero like All Might."
I flicked him on the forehead.
"Ow!"
I chuckle, "Dude, I get wanting to be like your idol. But something you need to remember, is that you are not All Might. You're Quirk might make you as strong as him one day but with the way you are now, you'll be lucky to make it through these tests without breaking something."
Midoriya hangs his head in disappointment and sighs, "You're right. But you heard Aizawa-sensei, whoever does the worst today will be expelled. I can't let that happen."
I smile and place a hand on his shoulder, "It won't as long as you do you."
He gives me a confused look, "Huh?"
"Look, you know how All Might can literally change the weather with a punch?"
He nods.
"Okay, well despite how strong he is he didn't get there in one day. He probably trained daily to get to that level. That's what you need to do too. You need to train in a way that makes sense to you, so your Quirk can get to a level that not only works the way you want it but also feels like it's a part of you."
"But how can I get to that level when I barely have any control over my Quirk as it is?"
I hold a hand up and summoned small tornados around my fingers, "Focus on one area. Right now, you won't be able to survive these tests if you put every bit of your power into the smallest of tasks so right now, you need to focus on one area of your body and send the power of your Quirk there. If you can do that, you should be able to at least pass the ball throw.
I cancel my powers as Midoriya looks at his head as he contemplates my words. I could almost see the gears turning in his head as he begins to think of ways that he can focus the energy of his Quirk.
"Midoriya you're up."
As Aizawa-sensei calls his name, the greenette makes his way into the circle. I rejoin my friends as we all wait to see what the kid could pull off.
Daisuke looks at me, "What were you and Midoriya talking about?"
I shrug, "Just giving him some advice. His Quirk is a little wonky when it comes to controlling the energy he puts out, so I gave him a few words of wisdom to help the guy out."
Bakugo who seems to overhear us scoffs, "Huh, Quirk? The Hell you talking about? Deku is a Quirkless loser."
I smirk and put my hands in my pockets, "Maybe he seemed like that back when you knew him, but he isn't like that anymore."
Iida nods, "Indeed. Did you not hear what he did during the Entrance Exam?"
Bakugo looks like he just heard the craziest news of his life. At this point in his story, I knew he was still the kind of guy who thought Midoriya couldn't do anything except get in his way but hopefully, with the advice I gave him, he could shut the blonde porcupine up.
Midoriya takes his stance in the middle of the circle. I could still see the look of worry etched across his face as he turned, and we locked eyes.
I raise my hand and clench it into a fist, giving him a signal of how to control his power. He nods. He turns his head and focuses on the task at hand. He takes a runner's pitch and pulls his arm back. On the surface it looks like he isn't doing anything but as he prepares to fire off the ball, he lets it roll off his hand until it rests on the tip of his finger and energy begins to course through the digit.
With a grunt of exertion, he flings the ball into the sky creating a boom as it hits the sky. I couldn't help but let out a laugh of joy as the All Might fanboy shows off the small amount of power that All for One offers him.
He clenches his hand in pain, his broken finger obvious as he turns towards our teacher, "Sensei…how'd I do?"
Aizawa-sensei seemed impressed as he looked down at the power reader in his hand when he showed Midoriya his score of how much he got and revealed it to be a score that narrowly beat out Bakugo.
I start clapping, "Attaboy Midoriya! Nice work!" I call out as my friends and a few other of our classmates join in the applause.
I look over and see Bakugo steaming and sparking. The look on his face was one of not only shock but also anger. I could see the pure rage flushing over his skin as he launches himself at his former childhood friend.
"DEKU YOU BASTARD! TELL ME HOW YOU DID THAT NOW!"
As he flies towards Midoriya, I shake my head, "Oh, Hell no." I say as my body begins to charge with electricity, enhancing my speed.
I rushed towards Bakugo and as he's about to reach Midoriya, I jump into the air and spin. My shin landing on the nape of Bakugo's neck, sending him straight to the ground. As we slid to a stop, the blonde tries to blast me with an explosion, but I grab his arm and pull it down into a Kimura hold to pin him down.
My actions make everyone in the class gape at how easily I took down one of the strongest in our class.
"Holy Crap, that was insane!"
"Bakugo launched himself at Midoriya, but Montgomery took him down like it was easy."
"That spin was awesome!"
"Me-ow~"
The last comment I heard sounded like Kasumi but due to Bakugo thrashing beneath me, I couldn't do much about it.
"Calm down Bakugo. I don't know the history between you and Midoriya but what you're doing right now aren't the acts of a hero." I say as I hold the blonde boy down.
He thrashes against my hold and growls at me, "Fuck you, asshole!"
I was shocked, "Damn, quite a mouth on you huh?"
I hear Aizawa-sensei sigh, "That's enough. It's the first day and already I got to deal with all this drama. Montgomery, get off Bakugo. This is my class so if I need to, I'll be the one to control my students. Understand?"
I nod, "Yes, sensei." I say as I get off Bakugo and rise to my feet. The blonde jumps to his feet and prepares to launch another attack at me but one glare from our teacher sets him straight. Bakugo scoffs angrily before moving back to the group.
I smirk and head over to Midoriya, "Way to go dude! I knew you had it in you."
He smiles at me, "Thanks, I guess I can do it if I try. Lost a finger though." He says wincing in pain from his broken pointer finger.
I shrug, "Better a finger than your entire arm."
I look on the ground a picked up a few loose rocks I turn as my friend's approach, "Hey Juka, can you liquify these for me?" I ask.
The brunette nods and liquifies the stones till they elongate to a size that I could work with. After tearing a piece of my uniform off, I wrapped the stones around Midoriya's finger and used the torn uniform to hold it in place to fashion a makeshift splint.
"Here you go, this should keep your injury under control till you can get it healed up."
Midoriya gives me a smile, "Thank you, Montgomery-kun. Not just for the splint but for the push."
I smiled and patted his shoulder, "No problem. We're all going to be side by side for the next three years, we need to be working on building each other up. Not bringing each other down."
I meant that whole fully. I knew that the next few years, Hell, the next few months were going to be some of the roughest times that any of us would face. All of us came from different backgrounds and had different views on what it meant to be heroes, but we all made it into UA and if the events of the anime and manga were anything to go off, the coming days would be one trial after another for all of us.
We would all need to be ready.
MHA
As the day ends and all of us recover from our first day of classes, me and my friends walk out of the front doors of UA. I stretch my arms in the air, flexing minor aches in my body.
Daisuke growls, "That teacher of ours is something else! Telling us all that the whole threat of expulsion was just a means for us to go all out. What a load of crap!" he cries out in frustration.
Kasumi chuckles, "Oh don't be so down Daisuke-kun. At least we all passed, that's the important thing in all this."
Juka nods, "Yeah, Kasumi's right. Besides, if we wanted things to be fair, we wouldn't have joined a hero school. At least our teacher is looking at things like a real hero would."
I smirk, "You're not wrong Juka but something tells me that Aizawa-sensei was dead set on expelling someone today. My older brother told me he expelled an entire class on their first day."
Daisuke looked appalled, "Seriously? Why the Hell would he do that?"
I shrugged, "Beats me but I doubt our teacher would do something like that would a damn good reason. If he didn't, he wouldn't be a teacher."
My friends take in my words as we walk past the blue UA arch. I knew what was going through our teacher's mind at that moment but all I cared about was that me and my friends made it through. The days ahead of us would only get tougher.
A car's horn caught our attention and driving up the street towards us was a dark blue 4x4 truck with purple decals. I smiled widely as I laid eyes on the truck coming our way.
Daisuke let out a whistle, "Damn, how much you think something like that costs?"
I chuckle, "More than you'd know Daisuke."
The truck stops in front of us and walking out of the vehicle were two people I knew very well. The first was a handsome, dark skinned man with black hair styled into cornrows and dark blue eyes. Dressed in a black shirt, dark blue leather jacket, jeans, and a pair of fingerless gloves, his clothing accentuated his athletic, muscular body structure and the small scar on his chin showed a ruggedness you could only find in a fighter.
The other was a stunningly, beautiful woman with fair skin, long violet hair that cascaded down to her shoulders in elegant waves while her violet eyes shined with happiness. She was dressed in a pair of short jean shorts, black ankle-high boots, a tight blue tank top and a short white leather jacket with bracelets on both wrists, several rings on both hands, hoop earrings, and a necklace of a fairy on her neck.
I could see my friends looking both confused and impressed at the arrival of the two older people, but they couldn't seem to form any words.
"Wow, suddenly I feel so, plain." Kasumi said looking down at her clothing.
I chuckle, "Don't worry Kasumi, they have that effect on people."
I approach the older male but before I could get a single word out, the woman steps in front of me, "You've grown so much…Tatsu-chan!" she said before wrapping her arms around me in a tight hug.
"Tatsu-chan?!" I heard my friends exclaim in shock.
I roll my eyes, "I saw you last month, Nee-san."
"Nee-san?!"
I turn my head to my friends, "Uh, yeah. Guys this is my older sister Izumi."
Daisuke and Juka looked between me and my sister, almost like they couldn't believe we were related. Couldn't blame them. Izumi looked more like our mother than anything else. Kasumi, however, looked like she was trying to make herself look more presentable.
"And the cool dude standing over there with the cornrows is my older brother Ryo." I say trying to maneuver in my sister's grip.
I sigh, "Nee-san, while I'm happy to see you as well, you think you can let me go for a few seconds and introduce yourself to my new friends?"
Izumi rubs her face in my chest, like she was trying to burrow into me. I loved my sister dearly, but she really needed to learn how to relax around me. And to stop smothering me. It could get old fast.
Ryo sighs and walks over, pulling Izumi off me, "For crying out loud Izumi, have some dignity. You can't always smother Tatsuya like he's still a baby."
Izumi pouts, "Shut up, Onii-chan. I don't care how big he gets, Tatsu-chan is still my beautiful baby brother."
I shake my head, "And while I love that, please don't embarrass me in front of my friends."
I move to the side and gesture to my friends who looked like they were still trying to process the information, "Guys, like I said this is my older brother Ryo and my sister Izumi. Nee-san, Nii-chan, these are my friends; Juka, Kasumi, and Daisuke."
Each of my friends bowed as my siblings greeted them. Pleasantries were exchanged and my sister seemed to be having a lot of fun when it came to Juka and Kasumi.
"Look at you two, you're so cute! Oh my god your ears are just adorable! You look like an elf!" she said in a teasing tone towards Juka.
"And you! Oh my gosh, you are just gorgeous! Oh, I have the perfect outfit to put you in oh you'd amazing in it. And if you stood by Tatsu-chan, oh you'd make jaws drop!" she said looking over Kasumi.
Ryo and I sighed, "Great, my first female friends in years and Nee-san's already all over them." I grimace.
Ryo placed a hand on my shoulder, "Don't worry Tatsuya. I can handle her." He said walking over and pulling Izumi away from the girls.
Daisuke looked impressed, "Wow, your brother sure knows how to reel in your big sister."
I nod, "You have no idea." I say looking at my siblings.
"So why are you both here?"
Ryo turns to me, "Mom and Dad wanted us to pick you up so we can all go out for a family meal to celebrate your first day at school."
I smiled at my family's thoughtfulness. Even with my older siblings out of the house they still found time to do some family events like this.
Daisuke turns to me, "And with that, I should probably head home too. My dad's busting out the grill and we're gonna have a cookout and if I don't get there in time, my younger siblings will eat everything."
I nod and fist-bump my new friend as he bids my siblings goodbye. I wondered if his family was as big or bigger than mine.
Juka smiles, "I'm gonna head out to. I have to pick up my sister before heading home."
Juka bows to my brother and sister before heading off to the train station.
I turn to Kasumi, "Guess you'll be heading home too?"
She smiles at me, flashing me those perfect set of teeth that just gave me butterflies in my stomach, "Yeah. My mom is finishing up work so if I get home now, we can have dinner together before it gets too dark."
I nod, "Well, have a good night."
"You, too! Enjoy your family time!"
She calls out as she heads off in the opposite direction. I couldn't help but watch her go, I felt a stupid smile on my face grow as she leaves. I didn't know why she had the effect on me that she did. I don't know if it was because she looked like my idol bias in my past life, but I really didn't care. She was just so many things and she made me feel happy. Maybe I should ask her out.
Ryo loudly clears his throat, "Yo Romeo, if you're done ogling your girlfriend, our parents are waiting."
My brother's words broke me out of my daze, causing me to turn towards him, "Oi, she's not my girlfriend!"
I say as all of us get into the truck. Izumi kept giggling and teasing me about Kasumi the entire night through, but I just tuned her out after a while. I knew that this was not going to end. Especially when she told mom.
MHA
My family dinner was rather nice and as I expected, when mom found out about Kasumi, she wouldn't stop peppering me for details, so I gave her a basic rundown. She still wouldn't give it up. But other than that, it was a nice time with my whole family. Dad got pissed when I told him how Aizawa-sensei threatened my class with expulsion, but Ryo was able to calm him down before he went thunderstorm.
The next day at school was a regular day. Since UA was still technically a high school, we had to learn the basic lesson plans. Math, history, science, English, things like that but since I still had my old memories, most of it was still implanted in my mind. Except math. I hated math. English was fun. Since I spoke it fluently, Present Mic would tend to call on me for most of the answers. I didn't mind though. He was a good teacher, albeit a bit excitable.
After a delicious lunch came a moment, I'd been looking forward to since I got accepted into UA.
I could almost hear the footsteps of the man who would be teaching us our next lesson.
"I…am…coming through the door like a regular person!"
And just as I remembered, the man himself, All Might came racing through the door of our classroom in a pose that was most definitely not normal.
All my classmates grew excited when they finally got the chance to lay eyes on the Number 1 Pro Hero.
"Holy cow, it's All Might!"
"He really is a teacher here!"
"This is so exciting!"
"Is that his Silver Age costume? How retro."
All their reactions just made me chuckle. I knew how it felt to meet the man in real life, I nearly got knocked to the next city over when I felt the surge of his power for the first time. He was a larger-than-life person that earned his reputation as the Number 1 Hero in my opinion.
"Greetings young heroes! I will be your teacher for this class and other lessons coming up that are similar. And today's lessons…will pull no punches!"
And with that, he held up a card that read battle. When my classmates saw that card, that was when everyone's engines got revved up and I couldn't blame them. A lot of them, me included, were looking forward to throwing hands with each other. I couldn't deny the thrill of facing off against the characters from my favorite anime. I could get a chance to see how they were in real life.
"And one of the key factors of being a hero is looking good! Which is why the support department came up with these per your requests!"
All Might presses a button on a remote and several shelves pop out of the nearby wall, revealing suitcases numbered from 1 to 20. I could feel a grin breaking out on my face. Upon finding out I had been accepted into UA; a lot of my family members were adamant on what I should make my hero costume look like. My sister and mother especially but I already had my own ideas on how I wanted to look but I did take some of their advice.
"Each of you dress in your costumes and meet me at Ground Beta!"
And with that, our teacher ran out of the room kicking up dust as he sped away.
I smile and rush up to grab my suitcase, my classmates quickly doing the same, "Oh man this is gonna be sick! Alright Class 1-A, let's get geared up!"
I said excitedly as all my classmates cheered in excitement. I couldn't wait to see what the design team put together.
MHA
I have to say, the design group had some serious skills. All around me my male classmates were gushing over their new costumes. They looked just like the series. From the simple looking ones like Kaminari and Sero to the more elaborate ones like Iida.
I smiled as I donned my costume piece by piece. On my feet I wore a set of black and blue boots that had specialized turbines around the ankles and vents on the bottoms. The turbines would help generate additional force for my cyclones around my legs as well as create some added wind in case of emergencies. The vents were to help with my mobility.
My pants were a mix of dark blue and black with a little bit of dark green added into the mix. Cerulean and gold guards are on my shins and outer thighs with knee pads that depicted a stylized kanji for the word storm. I wore a long-sleeved, dark blue and black shirt made of a special material that was not only bullet and blade proof but also kept my body temperature regulated in various environments. Along with my shirt I had a short-sleeved, windbreaker jacket that fell just past my hips with a zipper under my solar plexus. A belt carrying various medical supplies, bandages, energy snacks, and things of that nature.
On my shoulders were curved, protective pauldrons with the same blue color scheme as the rest of my costume. I wore black fingerless gloves that went all the way up to elbows that also acted as protective gauntlets to help me regulate and concentrate the electricity I could channel into my arms and hands. They also helped to pull in water from the surrounding air. The same Storm kanji was on the backs of my hands. My look was completed with a mask covering the lower half of my face and a set of stylish goggles which gave me various scopes, heat vision, night vision, and things of that nature.
I adjusted my gloves and smiled; the overall outfit was inspired by members of my family. The main colors were from my mom and dad, the boots and turbines were from my sister who used something similar in her daily patrols, and the gloves were inspired by my brother. The rest I was inspired by some of my favorite video game characters from back in my old world.
"Damn! Looking good Tatsuya."
I turned my head to see Daisuke walking towards me in his costume. His was a bit simpler compared to mine consisting of a set of dark brown pants with a darker set of amber-colored shin and knee guards. His belt was heavy and black with a bear head as the buckle. There were several small containers along the outer edges. Most likely carrying some first aid gear like me.
His top was covered by what looked like a military style tactical vest but more streamlined to fit his body structure with a sleeveless dark brown leather jacket. His arms were bare save for some protective gear around his forearms. His hands were covered by padded gloves, his upturned collar had dark brown fur around the edges, and face pain on his cheeks. He didn't wear shoes either
I smiled at my friend, "Thanks Daisuke. Looking good yourself. You look ready for battle."
The bear shifter grins, "Yeah, since my Quirk involves transforming, I wanted something a bit more streamlined and suited for my body. That's also why I'm not wearing shoes."
I nod, "Your sneaker bill must be insane."
"You have no idea."
The two of us prepare to leave with the rest of our classmates, "Oh wait. One more thing."
I reached into my bag and pulled out several small photos of my family members all dressed in various outfits. I smile and stick them to the inside of my locker.
Iida, the ever-serious stickler, notices and moves his arms in accordance with his robotic-like nature, "Montgomery-kun, I understand the desire to showcase your family, but the school has rules against such accessories when it comes to school property."
I turn to the future Class 1-A Rep and smile, "Actually Iida, the rules state that if the student doesn't defile the lockers in any way that may seem inappropriate, they are allowed to accessorize with things like photos. In my case, showcasing my heritage is one way."
I stepped back and showed the photos to my classmates who all seemed interested, save for Bakugo and Todoroki.
That was when Midoriya's eyes lit up, "Montgomery-kun, you never said you were related to Heroes!"
I chuckle, "Actually I did. It was one of the first things I said when we met. I just never got the chance to tell you which ones I was related to."
I pointed to each picture, "These are my parents. My mom and dad used to be a hero and sidekick duo. Pops went by the name Wild Wind and my mom was called Verdant Valkyrie."
I pointed to the next one, "These are my brother and sister. Currently heroes with their names on the rise. My brother goes by Raijin and my sister calls herself Silver Sylphid."
I could practically see the grin breaking off Midoriya's face, "Raijin and Silver Sylphid?! They are the brother and sister who are making major waves in the hero world today! Just like Kamui Woods, they are not only skilled with their Quirks but they're also some of the more popular heroes due to their attractive appearances! Raijin who uses his electric-based Quirk to craft various weapons and structures makes him essential for taking down and capturing villains in a variety of situ…"
I had to stop the kid by smacking him on the head, "Midoriya breath. For crying out loud you talk about them more than I do. And I'm related to them!"
The greenette blushes, "Oh, uh, sorry, I get excited."
"Clearly."
Ojiro, the tailed martial artists steps towards my locker, "Huh, who's this older guy? I feel like I've seen him before."
Turning my head and seeing which picture he was looking at my face drops slightly as a wistful smile hits me, "That's my grandfather along with my grandmother. Gramps was my mentor in martial arts when I first started out. People used to call him the Susano of Yokohama during his years as a sumo wrestler.
Ojiro smiles, "Oh yeah, I've heard of this guy. Kind of a living legend in his own right. One of the last few Yokozuna still alive right?"
"Yeah, he was."
At the mention of my words everyone went still. I didn't always bring up my grandfather. Not because he wasn't around anymore but whenever I brought him up it felt like I was getting a knife driven through my heart. His loss still weighed heavily on me and at times I still felt like I could've done something to help him and maybe he would still be alive.
But I couldn't change the past and all I had to do now was move forward.
I cleared my throat, "Hey, let's not start this day out all sad and depressed. Come on, let's get moving. We don't want to keep All Might and the girls waiting."
Iida nods, "Montgomery-kun is correct! Let's get a move on and do our upmost in today's lesson!"
The rest of my male classmates murmured words of agreement, everyone filing out of the locker room. I caught Todoroki giving me a look before he leaves as well. Daisuke stayed behind for a few moments to wait for me but before I left, I turned to the picture of my grandpa.
I place a few fingers against his picture, "Watch me gramps. Time to show the Number 1 Hero what my generation can do."
I rise to my feet and head out of the locker room with Daisuke. My friend patting my shoulder in a silent show of support as we headed out to meet with All Might and get started on the battle testing course.
MHA
"They say the clothes make the hero and I must agree! You all look amazing. Now at this moment, you are all Heroes in Training!"
I had to agree with All Might, we looked cool as Hell. All of us standing together in this ruined cityscape dressed in our hero costumes. We looked like Heroes.
I couldn't help but steal glances at my female classmates in their costumes. I was kind of surprised at how formfitting their costumes were. Highlighting each of their best features. Couldn't blame them for that but I felt like I was gonna have to share a few words with Momo. I knew her Quirk let her create objects using the fat in her body, but I felt like she could do a lot more with her costume and not show so much skin.
I managed to catch sight of Juka who was talking with Jiro. Juka wore a sleek-looking violet, blue, and pink bodysuit with black wave markings over various parts of her body which made it look like moving water whenever she moved. The suit had slits in it to give way for the fins on her body. Sturdy-looking shoes were on her feet and protective padding covered her forearms, shins, and knees. Her hair was tied into a high ponytail while her face was covered by a stylish cowl leaving her mouth, nose, and eyes open.
I smiled at her, she looked good. No doubt the material of her costumes was designed with her Quirk in mind.
I felt a tap on my shoulder, "Care to check me out instead?"
I chuckle as I hear Kasumi's voice, "I don't know about checking out but if you'd like my opinion, I'd…"
I turned and my words stopped in my throat as I laid eyes on Kasumi. Her costume highlighted her figure in the best possible way. It consisted of a deep purple and blue bodysuit that hugged her figures and accentuated her breasts and rear. Heeled boots were on her feet with knee guards. A silver belt was around her waist with what looked like a small sword handle resting on the back of it. Several small canisters were placed along the outer edges of the belt looking like a combination of aerosol cans and grenades.
The top of her suit reminded me of Black Widow with the way it just rolled with her body. A silver zipper was zipped down just enough to reveal a sliver of creamy cleavage, and the vibrant blues and purples made her fair skin stand out even more. In the center of her midriff was the image of a butterfly. Her sleeves were short, resting just above her elbows with detached sleeves and fingerless gloves. Her forearms were covered by a set of specialized gauntlets that looked like they had mist dispersers and miniature fans. Most likely to help her spread the various scents she could produce.
Her look was completed with a simple yet stylish domino mask over her eyes. I was completely stunned by what I saw that I almost forgot to continue talking.
"Wow, Kasumi, you look…wow."
My reaction made her giggle, "Aww, you're sweet Tatsuya-kun. You look good yourself. The suit highlights all those muscles you have." She says running a hand over my chest guard.
I chuckled, "Yeah, in a way. I wanted something that wasn't so flashy but could still make my presence known when I'm around people. The colors are inspired by my parents. I just didn't expect it to be so form-fitting."
Kasumi smiles, "I know what you mean. I asked for something breathable and while I can move in this, I feel like it'll draw to many eyes the wrong way."
"Oh, the struggle of being a female hero."
She slaps my arm, "Jerk."
We end up laughing. Being able to talk and flirt with a girl like this was a feeling I thought I had forgotten. After Elena and my fiancé in my old life, I didn't know if I could find a girl that I could connect with on real level but with Kasumi it felt different. It just felt natural whenever we talked and the way she smiled just made my heart happy.
All Might cleared his throat, "Alright, let's get down to business you bunch of newbies!"
"Wait! Hold on!"
Myself and my classmates all turned our heads at the sound of a new voice, which revealed to belong to our modern art history teacher Midnight. She was just as beautiful as I remember from the series. Her long, dark purple hair, curvy figure, sky blue eyes, and her dominatrix-inspired costume was something that I'm sure many young men and even a few women have known and fantasized about for many years.
All Might turns his head, "Midnight! What a pleasant surprise! What brings you here?"
The R-Rated Hero stops next to the Number 1 Hero and smiles, "I'm glad I caught you before you started. Since this is the first combat training segment of the year, I wanted to be here to see how my daughter fairs against her classmates."
I raised an eyebrow, 'Daughter? Since when does Midnight have a daughter?'
Midnight was one of the most promiscuous women in the entire MHA series and throughout it, she had never seen like the most loyal women that would be willing to find one man that she'd want to settle down with. Let alone have kids with, despite how much care she showed for her students.
Kasumi stepped forward, "Mom, I said you didn't have to come here today!" she cried out clearly embarrassed.
All eyes turned to her, "MOM?!"
Even I couldn't contain my shock, "Wait, you're Midnight's daughter?!"
Kasumi seemed to shrivel as the attention was on her, "Well, um, yes."
That was when I connected the dots. Kasumi's last name was Kayama. Midnight's civilian name was Kayama Nemuri. I slapped my forehead as I found myself feeling incredibly stupid for not having seen the connection before.
Midnight chuckles and makes her way over to her daughter, wrapping an arm around her shoulders, "Oh don't be like that sweetie. I've been watching you train since you used to wear my mask as a baby. If you're gonna be following in my footsteps, then I need to see how you fair against your classmates."
Kasumi covers her face with her hands, "Mom, please! Don't talk like that!"
Midnight giggles and kisses her head, "You're so cute." She says with a smile before her eyes landed on me.
"So, Tatsuya-kun."
I quickly pull my hood down and remove my mask and glasses, "Um yes. Hello, Midnight-sensei."
She nods at me, "Kasumi spoke very highly of you. Mainly about how handsome and kind you are."
"Mom!"
I could feel the heat rising in my cheeks, "Oh, um, well I don't know about that Sensei. I'd say I'm fairly regular. At least compared to your beautiful daughter."
My compliment made Kasumi blush even harder and Midnight laugh, "You know quality when you see it. That's good."
All Might laughs, "Well, while I didn't expect to see you here Midnight but having another hero in a moment like this could do a lot for all of us. Now, let's get down to business!"
All Might explains the entire combat drill and it was exactly what I remembered. Two teams enter, one hero and one villain. The villains would be guarding a faux nuclear weapon while the heroes would be tasked with either recovering the weapon or taking down the villains.
I smile at Kasumi after her mother finally gives her space, "So, Midnight's daughter."
She grumbles, "Please don't make a big deal about it. Whenever someone finds out I'm her daughter they're either expecting me to be as intense as her or be as sexy as her and it gets exhausting."
I nod, "Believe me I know how you feel. I went through the exact same thing after my brother and sister became heroes. It gets old very quick."
She gives me a kind smile, "Thanks Tatsuya-kun. And I'm sorry about how she must have made you feel."
I shrug, "It didn't bother me. Besides, if I plan on being around you more, getting used to your mother just comes with the territory."
Those words make her flash that beautiful smile of hers at me, "You always know how to make me feel special Tatsuya-kun."
As Kasumi begins to relax, All Might calls us all up to draw lots to see who would be on whose team. Due to their being a mix of people with some of the original cast not being here, some teams were the same, some were different.
Team A: Midoriya Izuku and Uraraka Ochaco.
Team B: Todoroki Shoto and Mezo Shoji.
Team C: Yaoyorozu Momo and Kayama Kasumi
Team D: Bakugo Katsuki and Iida Tenya.
Team E: Mizunoto Juka and Ashido Mina
Team F: Kumasuka Daisuke and Koda Koji
Team G: Kaminari Denki and Kyoka Jiro
Team H: Tokoyami Fumikage and Asui Tsuyu
Team I: Ojiro Mashirao and Tatsuya Montgomery
With the teams decided, the first team was decided and just like the original series, it was Team A vs Team D.
I looked over at Midoriya and could see him shaking, I just hope he could fight past the fear that Bakugo had put into him over the years and be the hero I knew he could be.
But for now, only time would tell.
Let's hope it works out.
(Hello everyone! Kuro no Okami 23 here coming at you! I want to thank everyone who has followed this story. It was the very first MHA story I had ever made and I'm very proud of this so thank you to all the loyal readers and followers for Second Chance. Now I want to say before anyone gives me crap, yes, I did base Kasumi on Sana from TWICE. I am a proud ONCE and Sana is my bias. If I find a chance to put a character of one of my K-pop biases in my stories, then I'm gonna do that.
I hope everyone enjoys this from here on out and I plan to bring a lot more. Thanks everyone, Adios and Sayonara!)
