A Broken Reunion: Broken and Lonely 2 Ch. 03

Carmilla sits at the table surrounded by the members of the board going through paperwork.

The uneasy demons wearily stare at their returning CEO. An angry Overlord is scary enough. But a silent one, especially Carmilla, rarely means a good thing.

The Arms Dealer sets the paperwork down. "I must say," and looks at them. "I'm impressed." The board members let out a sigh of relief. "Even though our weapon sales are down, that hardly affects our overall profit giving the other departments opened in my absence. Expanding the company into other fields was a brilliant endeavor. I was so focus on arming and defense that not once had it ever occurred to me to make such a venture."

The board members let out a sigh of relief. Then one of them speaks up.

"We can't take the credit. Your daughter walked into research and development and practically demanded them to make a prosthetic. After verifying the success, she more politely inquired about what else we could do in the Healthcare Industry and soon Home Living."

That brought a smile to the matriarch. "She had always been more open to helping others than I ever was. Now then…" the woman looks up at the empty seat. "I know Tankston was always one to arrive at his own time, but this is late even for him. Where is that fat fool?"

Another Demon answers. "Oh? Mrs. Carmine had discovered that he had been embezzling company funds. He was immediately let go from the company. Last any of us heard, he barrowed money to try and start his own business and he's now hiding from loan sharks."

Carmilla thought for a moment. "Tankston may have been arrogant, but I never thought he would be stupid enough to steal from me. I must commend my daughter for discovering this flaw in the company structure."

The board members then eyed one another, unsure what to say.

Then someone bravely said. "Not that Mrs. Carmine."

The CEO narrows her eyes and slams her hands on the table. "Let me make one thing clear. Velvette of the Vees is not a Carmine. She never has been and never will be! She will never have anything to do with my company nor my family," she turns to her assistant. "Tooth! I want everything that the Vee has touched. All the paperwork, all the products, everything! Send them to my office immediately!"

"Yes, Ms. Carmine…" the imp drags his feet out of the board room.

The matriarch then turns to the members of the board. "I do not want to hear that woman's name again. Am I clear!?"

The surrounding demons nod in as a response.

.oOo.

A frustrated Carmilla exits the elevator of the apartment building. She could not find anything against Velvette. The Overlord is certain that the Vee had done something against her company.

The Arms Dealer raises her keys to the door and notices her color fading. She holds her hands up to examine them before shaking any further thoughts out of her head and enters the penthouse.

"Girls! I'm home!" there was no answer. "Clara!" she runs through the penthouse. "Odette!?" and down the hall, the matriarch stumbles upon an unconscious Odette. "Odette!?" she kneels next to her daughter. "What happened?"

The spectacled Carmine lets out a groan as she managed to push herself up. "Ow…" she then picks up a piece of glass. "I think Clara hit me with a vase?"

"Why in Hell would she do that?"

"Mom…" Odette looks up at her mother. "I think you know why."

Carmilla grinds her teeth while shaking in anger. "That damn Vee."

The daughter worriedly looks her mother up and down as her coloring starts darkening.
