Flashback, San Francisco County Jail

"So, out of interest…" Walton began "What were you trying to do?"

"I was trying to upload someone into the system" Nish said, quite blasé about it

"And do you think you would have succeeded, if you had more time?"

Nish quietly and coolly sat back in her chair, uncrossed her legs, and then crossed them the other way.

"Oh, I already did." she explained calmly

"Wait, really?" Walton was impressed

"Just not the person I wanted"

"Wait, what you mean?" Now Walton was confused

Kelly and Yorkie'sBeach House, San Junipero

"What are you talking about?" Davis asked incredulously "This room would be perfect for arcade machines"

"Look, nerd" Wes said, authoritatively "You can keep your nerd machines in one of the back rooms, but this room is going to be party central"

"But…" Davis began, but then a woman appeared between them. She looked confused and afraid.

"What's going on?" she asked "Why have you brought me here?" she demanded to know

"Hi, there" Wes said calmly, touching his chest "I'm Wes, and this is my friend Davis" Davis waved at her

"What's your name?" Wes asked

"I'm Carrie, and you didn't answer my question" she said

"Okay, this is our house, and you're in San Junipero, its like a virtual reality simulation. But, we didn't bring you here, did we Davis?" Wes explained, trying to calm her down

Davis shook his head.

Wes slowly, tentatively extended his hand, which Carrie then shook.

"Okay, suppose I believe you. How did I get here?"

"I honestly don't know" Wes admitted "Davis, any ideas?"

"Well…" he was about to say something, when Wes gestured for him to be quiet, so he shrugged instead

"What's the last thing you remember?" Wes asked

"Well, there was the accident, and then I got transferred into my husband's head, but that didn't work out. So they put me into a plush toy monkey, until my son got sick of that. Then I was in a museum for a while. Then I think there was an accident and it burned down, and a woman took me in her car on a trip, and then I think there was a server room or something…" Carrie trailed off

"What do you think, nerd?" Wes asked Davis, quietly. This annoyed Davis, but he answered anyway.

"Sounds like some kind of primitive consciousness transfer and digitisation. She's lucky she ended up here, I think" he explained

"You know I can hear you, right" Carrie said, slightly annoyed

"Well, since you're here, why don't we show you around. Then you can figure out what you want to do next" Wes suggested

"Okay" Carrie said, tentatively

San Junipero, 1966

The group climbed down from the roof of Tucker's, and walked down the suspiciously empty street. They walked past the display, which this time had a life sized cutout of Sean Connery, in a tuxedo, holding a handgun, that said "007 James Bond in YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE"

A record was playing, but it was stuck on a particular section that it repeated over and over:

...no one dared, disturb the sound of silence…

...no one dared, disturb the sound of silence…

...no one dared, disturb the sound of silence…

"I thought you said this place was busy, and full of people, every Saturday night?" Shania said, slightly snarkily

"It is" Kelly said "I mean it should be"

"Are you sure we're in the right year?" Yorkie asked

"This is the year the anomalous readings are coming from, according to Dudani, well his counterpart" Nish explained.

"Well, we should probably trust him, then" Dudani suggested

"Also, he got rid of all the temporary users" Nish clarified

"Well, that explains why there's no tourists" Yorkie thought aloud

"But where are all the full timers?" Kelly asked. The rest of the group started staring at them.

"That's just San Junipero lingo" Kelly explained

"So, what's the plan?" Walton asked

"Same as before, just with more of us" Nanette said "Team 1, myself, Walton, Packer and Elena check out Tuckers, Team 2, Nish, Joe, Greta and Victoria, check the beach house, Team 3, Kelly, Yorkie, Dudani and Shania, to the Quagmire. Check in every twenty minutes over the comms. Starting now"

When everyone was still standing around Nanette clarified "As in now, get going!" and they did.

Tucker's

It was earily quiet and dark. There was a pinball machine, that was still plugged in, but it was covered in dust. There was also a jukebox, but it was equally dusty. The team slowly made their way to the bar, where a man suddenly emerged from underneath, to the shock of everyone except Elena.

"Hi, there" he said "My name's Matt. I'm guessing you're Nanette. I've heard quite a lot about you actually. Your friends, not so much. No offence" as he wiped a glass, non-nonchalantly

"What's going on around here?" Walton asked

"The, uh, boyfriend? No, boss. Am I right?" Matt asked

"How do you know who I am?" Nanette asked

"Oh, your friend Nish and I, we go way back" Matt said

"Really? I think you're lying" Nanette said

"Yeah, well, you would. He said you were the smart one. Not like, smart in the way the Indian guy is smart. But smart like me. You just have a sense for people." Matt said, smugly

"Who said that?" Walton demanded

"Ooh, you must be Walton. Yeah, he said you were self righteous" Matt said

"Enough" Elena said, incredulously "Is obviously Daly. He playing for time. This obviously trap. You don't see this, no?"

Packer pulled out his communicator "Team two, team three, this is team one, come in, over…"

All he got was static

"Team one to teams two and three…"

Still nothing

"Let's go" Nanette said, angrily and urgently

"Really?" Matt asked "But we were just getting to know each other" he said, in faux disappointment

The Beach House

"Whose place is this?" Victoria asked

"It used to belong to Kelly and Yorkie" Nish said

"It doesn't look like it" Greta observed, based on what little she could make out of the decor, in the dark "It looks more like a bachelor pad"

"Well, maybe someone else moved in since they left" Joe suggested

"Hopefully they didn't change too much" Nish said "Because, according to Yorkie, there used to be a service panel…" Nish pushed one of the lounge chairs to one side, and pulled up a section of carpet.

As she did so, Greta pulled out a piece of piano wire, and snuck up behind Nish.

"Nish, Look out…" Joe cried out

"Yeah, I'm on it" Nish said, in a slightly annoyed tone, and snapped her fingers, without even turning around. This caused Greta to freeze, and the piano wire she was holding vanished.

"Someone must have installed a malicious subroutine in her code. Kind of like a Manchurian Candidate. I'll have to take her offline, and sort it out later. Right now, we have bigger things to worry about" Nish explained

"Like the fact that this whole thing is…" Joe began

"A trap" Victoria interrupted

"Hey, I was gonna say that" Joe objected

Nish silently agreed, and ignored their bickering. She pulled out her communicator, and tried to contact the other teams. She could faintly make out Packer's voice, beneath heavy static. Based on this, she knew exactly what they needed to do.

"Follow me" she said, emphatically "We're ending this"
