Chapter 1: The Blinding Onslaught (Mario 1)

The Ballad of Light and Shadow: A World of Smash Odyssey

This story is an epic saga of the World of Light Adventure mode. The "Main" characters will be starting in various locations from the attack by Galeem, and the story will primarily focus on the perspective of about 8 characters. The story will take some elements from the adventure mode, such as locations on the map and bosses, but will include new things as well. The story will include romance. These first few chapters will tell you the central characters of the story by having their name next to the chapter title; for Example (Mario 1), meaning the chapter will focus on that character and the number will be that character's chapter appearance.

The cosmos, a canvas of swirling stardust and nascent galaxies, held its breath. Within its boundless expanse, the vibrant tapestry of the Smash universe pulsed with life, a chaotic symphony of heroes and villains locked in eternal, joyous battle. But this vibrant harmony was about to be shattered by a more terrifying silence than any clash of swords or thunderous explosion.

A being of pure, incandescent light descended from the swirling chaos of a newly formed dimension. Galeem, the Lord of Light, a consciousness vast and all-consuming, saw only discord in the vibrant chaos of Smash. His purpose: to unify, to silence, to paint the cosmos with a single, blinding stroke of order.

His arrival was not a gentle dawn, but a cataclysmic supernova. Beams of pure energy ripped through the Smash world, turning beloved landscapes into crystalline wastelands. Fighters, mid-battle and mid-laughter, were struck down, their vibrant forms dissolving into ethereal motes of light, their spirits ensnared within puppet bodies, devoid of will.

Only one escaped the initial annihilation: Kirby, the pink paragon of innocence and boundless appetite. A twist of fate, a warp star caught just in time, flung him across the ravaged world, a solitary spark in the encroaching white void.

He awoke on a petrified battlefield, the echoes of vanished cheers replaced by the chilling silence of Galeem's dominion. The wind carried whispers of trapped souls, a mournful chorus that tugged at his gentle heart. Fear gnawed, but beneath it, a fierce, unwavering ember of hope ignited. He would save his friends. He would bring back the joy.

His journey began as a solitary pilgrimage through a fractured world. Familiar stages were twisted into nightmarish reflections of their former glory. The lush greenery of Green Hill Zone was now a crystalline forest, shimmering with an unnatural light. The bustling streets of New Donk City lay frozen in time, its inhabitants' ghostly statues.

But Kirby was not alone for long. His innate empathy and unwavering optimism drew the lost spirits. He encountered Mario, his movements jerky and vacant, a puppet animated by Galeem's will. The battle was a heartbreaking paradox, fighting a friend, yet Kirby knew he fought for his liberation. With a determined gulp, he inhaled a fallen foe, copying its fiery essence, and shattered the puppet's hold with a burst of controlled flame. A blinding flash, and the real Mario stood blinking, confusion warring with dawning recognition. The blinding white light had faded, leaving a disoriented Mario blinking in the strange, crystalline landscape. He felt… wrong. Stiff. Distant memories flickered – a sudden, overwhelming light, a loss of control. Then, a small, pink figure wobbled into his blurry vision.

Kirby: (Tilting his head, a worried "Poyo?" escaping his lips)

Mario blinked again, focusing on the familiar face. A wave of relief, mixed with lingering confusion, washed over him.

Mario: (Grasping his head) Uh… what… what happened? Where are we? It feels… like I was asleep. Or… not myself.

Kirby waddled closer and patted Mario's leg with a small hand.

Kirby: (A more emphatic) "Poyo! Poyo!" (Gesturing around with a sweep of his arm)

Mario followed Kirby's gesture, taking in the bizarre, light-infused environment. It was familiar, yet alien.

Mario: This… this looks like… the Smash World. But… different. Wrong.

He looked back at Kirby, a flicker of understanding dawning in his eyes.

Mario: Wait… Kirby? It is you! You… you look okay. How…?

Kirby puffed out his chest slightly, a proud "Poyo!" escaping him, before pointing back in the direction Mario had been standing moments before, then making a frantic, puppet-like gesture with his arms.

Mario: (Frowning in concentration) A puppet…? Was… was I… a puppet? Controlled by something?

Kirby nodded vigorously; his big blue eyes filled with concern. He then mimed a bright flash of light engulfing everything.

Mario: That… that blinding light! I remember now… it just… took us. All of us.

He looked down at his hands, clenching and unclenching his fists.

Mario: And you… you saved me? How?

Kirby simply puffed out his cheeks and pointed towards a small, glowing shard lying on the ground nearby, then mimed inhaling and spitting it out with a triumphant "Poyo!"

Mario: (Understanding slowly dawning) You… you absorbed something… that was controlling me? Like your copy ability?

Kirby nodded enthusiastically.

Mario: (A wave of gratitude washing over him) Wow, Kirby… thank you. I… I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't…

He placed a hand on Kirby's head, a rare display of open affection.

Mario: You're a real hero, little guy.

Kirby beamed, a happy "Poyo poyo!" bubbling out.

Mario: But… what about everyone else? Peach? Luigi? Bowser? All the others… where are they?

Kirby's cheerful demeanor faltered. He looked around the desolate landscape, then sadly pointed further into the corrupted world.

Kirby: (A soft, mournful) "Poyo…"

Mario's expression turned grim. He understood. They weren't safe. They were likely trapped, just as he had been.

Mario: We must find them. We must save everyone.

He looked at Kirby, a newfound determination hardening his gaze.

Mario: Lead the way, Kirby. Let's go bring back our friends.

Kirby nodded resolutely, his small form radiating courage. With a determined "Poyo!", he turned and began to waddle into the strange, light-touched world, Mario following closely behind
