Chapter 4 Not much of an explaination...
"It's beautiful" Bret breathed out from his passenger seat, the veins of his planet laid out before him. Swirls of blue and green splayed across his vision, he imagined they were moving very fast through space, yet it all looked slowed down, like it was trying to show Bret all it had to offer, hoping that he would return. Raven had promised him an explaination, so while she got the ship going and on the right course he waited patiently. She pressed a button or two and said some mumbo-jumbo that he didn't catch and they were off. Raven kept an eye on the gages. Her silver orbs flicked to the outside, for a moment she had to agree with him, it was quite nice to look at.
Finally after what seemed like an eternity, she finally turned to him, her bright eyes shining at him.
"By the way Bret, I have something for your journey"
Raven fished around under her seat until she was holding a furry brown coat, he was sure there was still blood on it. There wasn't, Raven knew how to clean her kill. She smiled proudly at it, "I believe you call it rabbity-bunnies, I've infused it with heat magic, it will keep you warmly and snuggly."
When he didn't make a move to grab it, she figured she'd leave it for now, in the end he would ask for the death jacket. They always did.
"Raven you seem to have all the information and yet you can't pronounce basic words, obviously where your from has the English language"
Raven laughed, her wild dual coloured hair almost dancing with the music in her voice. "I'm actually speakin Dezolian, it just so happens they sound the same. So yes I mispronounce certain words, especially if I've never heard of it before, take the rabbity-bunnies, we're I'm from we don't have those creatures, so I make up my own name. And they are very soft and I like soft things"
"Are you going to explain to me why I'm here" Bret just had the last word out when out of nowhere a giant cow head butted in between the two passengers, "And why on Earth do you have a cow?"
Raven looked to Trixie, it's new name, and patted her softly "Yeah, Jesse said I couldn't have it but I kinda, maybe, in a way,-" "You stole it" Bret supplied as the cow kept nudging at him, like he had food, Trixie decided that he had no food so she happily went on her way. Bret watched in awed shock as Raven started waving her hand about, in a flash the cow was in a paddock, walking around eating and mooing. According to the cow, she was back at home minding her own business.
"How to put this?" Raven started, trying to find the words that he would understand. "Let's just say that a certain event is about to take place and I stopped it"
"What event?"
Raven let out a breath but didn't say anything else, when she thought she had the words she started to speak, she lent back in her captain's chair, as the knowledge of what was to come and what she had stopped. She got up and started pacing the ship, every now and then she would stop and pat the cow. When she got back to her seat she figured she had the words now.
"How about I tell you what was meant to happen?"
"Ok, so what was meant to happen Raven?"
"You were meant to win the pretty belt and spend the night celebrating until the end"
He tried to stay calm but he was really getting sick of her cryptic comments. "And I'm done Raven, take me back to Earth. Now"
Her eyes went dark, he guessed that no one ever said no to the Hunter, he was the first and from the looks of it, the last.
"You seem to think that my magic is limited"
His whole body seemed to go light, his muscled frame suddenly like putty in her hands, air refused to get into his lungs, thoughts failed to appear in his head and the only thing he saw right now, was a small girl with un-imaginable power lifting him off his seat and several feet off the metal ground
"It isn't" She let him go to let him breathe, she liked his guts because instead of taking heed of her warning, he just kept poking the bear.
"You won't kill me Raven, you need me"
She lent down real close to his face, the crazy calm in her eyes did nothing to soothe him, "I don't need you, I need someone from your family, so if you want me to leave your pretty little wife out of this, you might wanna start listening"
Raven shot him another glare before looking at the gages, not far from home.
"Fine you want plain answers, you, Shawn Michales, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon were meant to die but according to my destiny, I needed all four of you alive so I decided to take matters into my own hands. And since I've re-written your destiny, it's my job to train you for the next part of your life"
As they got closer to the icy-snowy planet, Bret started to feel the cold, the words sunk in. He was meant to die, not just him, Shawn, Hunter and Steph were also meant to die. How much had Raven interrupted by taking him off the planet, and why those four? He could see Shawn, Paul and Stephanie all being friendly but him? Well it was quite obvious that Bret's days with the wrestling were numbered, he didn't realise that his life was in danger. He still wasn't sure just how to take Raven, she seemed niave about Earth and it's customs but she seemed to know more than any human he had met.
The closer he got to the planet the colder he felt, it shivered up his spine and spread fast like icy-fire up and down his frame. Quickly the heat left his body and soon enough he was shivering. He was wearing a thick coat and pants but still he wasn't prepared for the chill.
Raven looked him up and down, his giant frame shaking and shimmering. "Are you going to be ok?"
"My nuts are freezing!"
Of course Raven had no idea what that meant, from what she could see, Bret wasn't carrying any nuts, still wanting to help she did the only thing she could. She shuffled around until she found what could help, a plastic container infused with heating magic.
"Here you go, this should keep your nuts toasty warm"
Bret just looked at the container then to the small girl, it struck him that for all she did know, there was alot she didn't, slang like 'nuts are freezing' the girl really believed that he had actual nuts that were cold.
"I prefer cold nuts myself but not everyone feels the same"
He just stared at her because he knew that any more talk he was going to have to explain to her what he meant by nuts. It was a conversation that he didn't really want to have.
Finally the ship stopped moving and Bret was able to see exactly what his new home looked like. When Raven finally opened the door the chill went into hyper-drive, Raven looked at him sweetly holding the death jacket.
"Rabbity-bunny?"
Grudgingly he took it, refusing to admit that he was suddenly warmly and snuggly.
