welcome to the technically and chronologically thirty-second chapter of my own version of '102 Dalmatians' with a slightly different set of characters. this chapter of my story, right here, is a total of one-thousand-six-hundred-seven words worth of total storyline long. a storyline of which doesn't include this explanatory headnote, right here, any of the author's notes by yours truly hidden within the precipice of the storyline, or the (mandatory) disclaimer that makes up the paragraph following this explanatory headnote. speaking of which, I need to get on with the (obligatory) disclaimer asap. I'll do it right now.

disclamation: I don't own '102 Dalmatians' in any way, shape, or form. I mean, I own it on DVD, but I was only seven when it first appeared in theaters, at all. so, it wouldn't even be natural for me to have owned '102 Dalmatians', at all. I also don't own either of the '101 Dalmatians' movies. I was but two or three years old when the live action remake came out, and when the original animated classic of '101 Dalmatians' came to theaters, I didn't even exist, yet. all these films are owned by the Walt Disney Movie Productions Company and by Dodie Smith.

As soon as Ray had taken Kim back to her apartment, it was made very clear that the blond was very much in love with the chocolate brunette, especially when said brunette considered just what had happened between them at the end of their lovely date.

A/N: we'll get to that part of the story closer to the end of the chapter, though.

As soon as they arrived back at her apartment, Ray and Kim both saw that the dogs had already fallen asleep as soon as the movie Bitsy brought over for them all to watch had been over. The dogs, especially the pups, were even asleep wherever they sat to watch the movie by the time the blond and the chocolate brunette had made it back to the chocolate brunette's apartment. It was a regular 'let-sleeping-dogs-lie' jamboree.

Of course, as soon as Ray and Kim had walked into the chocolate brunette's bedroom, the adult dogs immediately awoke from their own slumbers, especially Patch and Piper. The shelter dogs that Ray had brought over to the apartment with him to keep Kim's dalmatian family company, Bitsy, Slobberton, and Diggit, also woke up from the nap all three of them took as soon as the movie was finished, and the puppies went to bed.

Slobberton: Guess that's it for our time here, huh, you two?

Patch spoke to the three of them in his own canid tongue about any potential future arrangements for the trio of shelter dogs in his family's apartment.

Patch: You're all perfectly welcome here, any time you want.

Piper spoke to the three shelter dogs in her canid tongue after her foster-brother-turned-marriage-mate, Patch, finished speaking to them.

Piper: Indeed, dear. Just try to keep that bird friend of yours a little more under control.

Patch seemed to agree with his foster-sister-turned-marriage-mate, Piper, for a different reason than not liking Spixington's attitude very much, though.

Patch: Especially when considering what type of macaw Spixington actually is, for that matter.

It was one-hundred percent true. Whether or not he thought he was a dog, Spixington was a Blue Spix macaw, an endangered species of macaw that had already become extinct in the wild. Whether Spixington cared that he was actually a bird or not, the stubborn-as-a-mule, but still self-delusional Blue Spix macaw was one of the last very few of his own kind.

A/N: a kind of bird that only exists in captivity these days.

Ray called the dogs from his shelter back to his side as soon as they all knew he and Kim had made it back to his beautiful date's apartment.

Diggit made sure not to step on the twin dalmatian brothers, Shamrock and Speckle-Eye, as he walked back over to their favorite blond. Slobberton, however, knew for a fact that he would have had to try to maneuver himself over the two dalmatian brothers as he walked back over to Ray, as Spixington always rode on him because the stubbornly deluded bird blatantly refused to fly because of his delusional belief that he was a dog. Spixington even voiced what he had thought about in his head as he talked out loud for everyone to have heard what he was saying.

Spixington: Oh, Lassie!

Correct! Spixington was dreaming about being on a date with the star of the classic dog-centered film, 'Lassie, Come Home!'. Patch decided to be the one to wake Spixington up from his 'good' dream.

Patch: Wake up, Spixington. It's time for you and your pack to go home.

Spixington woke up to Patch and Piper's faces in his own face. He noticed then and there how large and long an adult dalmatian's face truly was. To say that the Blue Spix macaw who wanted to be a dog was dissatisfied with his newest realization was an understatement. In fact, the Blue Spix macaw's dissatisfaction at the realization that what he thought was happening to him was just a dream was perhaps the understatement of the year.

Spixington: Oh, it was a dream.

Then, the disappointed Blue Spix macaw boarded his usual taxi service atop of his shelter dog friend, Slobberton's, back before he responded any further.

Spixington (continued): Darn it!

A/N: although, it would be nothing compared to how Spixington would react were he to finally learn the truth about what he is, even if who he is should really matter a lot more than what he is. it is what's inside that counts the most, ya know, Spixington. ya don't judge a person based on the way they look. you judge a person or any animal based on their actions. I believe that for house-hold pets, the term would be to judge the deed, not the breed.

Meanwhile as the two were wishing one another 'good night', Ray and Kim started talking about the way their date that same night had gone. That was to say that the blond was the one amongst the two of them to start the talking about his dinner date that night with the chocolate brunette. The only problem with the way the blond talked to the chocolate brunette was that he had a ton of trouble talking to a pretty girl.

Raymond 'Ray' Millerson: I, uh, I had a great time.

It was not the most impressive speech made after a date, but at the very least, Kim technically agreed with Ray about the way their dinner date had gone that evening.

Kimberly 'Kim/Kimmy' Sefton: S-So did I.

Of course, it had been very lucky for Ray that Kim felt just as nervous as he had at the end of their dinner date that evening. The two had a lot more in common with one another than the blond had thought since that were the case about the chocolate brunette. Then, everything went wacky when Spixington made his own comment about the way the two stared into each other's eyes.

Spixington: Oh, kiss her, for heaven's sake, while we're still young.

A/N: if only Spixington knew for sure how long that was for him.

Of course, what did Ray do but get very nervous about even just kissing Kim after their first date, his first date.

Raymond 'Ray' Millerson: I-I know you don't believe in second chances. You, uh, made that very clear when you first visited us while we were getting help from Miss DeVil. But uh, you don't happen to believe in second dates, do you?

At first, Kim was surprisingly unsure as to why Ray had wanted to go on another date with a girl like her, of all people. The look in the blond's eyes, however, told the chocolate brunette all she had needed to know about why he asked her out on another date.

Kimberly 'Kim/Kimmy' Sefton: I do, actually.

Kim knew that such a phrase was normally something a couple would say at their own wedding, but the chocolate brunette believed in second dates as much as her blond admirer from the dog shelter, Ray, had. He was naturally happy to have the chance to take the love of his life out on another date since she appeared to think that their first date had gone so well.

Raymond 'Ray' Millerson: Good! That-that's great! Really great, actually!

Then, Ray just chuckled before placing a quick kiss on Kim's left cheek.

Raymond 'Ray' Millerson (continued): Good night.

Then, Ray headed out the door to Kim's apartment. The blond headed out the door so fast, he almost failed to realize that he had forgotten his shelter dogs and his bird inside of his chocolate brunette crush's apartment, where his bird was no doubt making embarrassing comment about the blond to his beloved chocolate brunette. Ray blushed at the very thought of whatever comments Spixington had been feeding to Kim while he and the others were still inside of her apartment.

Meanwhile back in Kim's apartment, the chocolate brunette actually smiled as she thought about the kiss from such a handsome guy as Ray. Spixington did have a word or two to say to Kim about the kiss from the Blue Spix macaw's own end. It might not have been the kind of comment that Ray would have probably been imagining Spixington making about him to his beloved Kim, though.

Spixington: Well, at least, he's good-looking.

Although, she could not understand any of them, the shelter dogs also spoke to Kim in their own canid tongues with the exception of Bitsy, who held the video she brought over with her in her mouth.

Slobberton: If nothing else, you'd definitely have that to go on in terms of his good points.

Diggit: It's true. He's quite handsome, if nothing else for the lass.

Patch and Piper also spoke up to their owner, Kim, about her date for that same night.

Patch: Well, I'm sure he's got other good points besides being handsome. He's a dog-lover, isn't he? Even if he does trust the devil woman, Ray still seems OK in my book.

Piper: I agree, honey. I think that Kim should let her heart guide her just this once, enough to give him a chance to impress her.

Kim held a smile on her face as soon as she heard her front doorbell ring for the second time that night. She opened her front door to see her date, Ray, blushing up a storm of red on his face at the ones in his life he almost forgot at her apartment. The chocolate brunette, herself, just giggled at the blond's blushing face as he tried his hardest to steady his thoughts while talking to her.

Raymond 'Ray' Millerson: Dogs.

Kimberly 'Kim/Kimmy' Sefton: Mm-hmm.

As Ray then escorted his dogs and bird out of Kim's apartment, Spixington started singing the romantic song that was played during that of the movie he and all the dogs viewed that night. He sang 'Bella Notte' from 'Lady and the Tramp', the video Bitsy brought over for them all to enjoy with Kim's dalmatians as they all watched it on the television screen together.

Ray awkwardly and embarrassedly followed his dogs out of his date, Kim's, front door and back to the streets. As the Blue Spix macaw continued the song, the blond felt as though he had had the best night of his life that night while on his date with the chocolate brunette. He felt as though he had been floating on the clouds after his date with such a beautiful woman as the owner of a dalmatian family with whom his shelter dogs were already friends. It was a friendship between two groups of dogs that both of them would have carried with them their whole lives.

A/N: thinking about it now, I bet that's the real reason as to why Spixington doesn't wanna accept that he's a bird and not a dog. he probably doesn't wanna face the truth that he'll outlive even the dalmatian puppies with how long macaws actually live.
