Yes, a longer chapter to make up for my absence! Enjoy!
Recovery Girl held the shards in her hand, staring at them with fascination. She placed them on the table next to a microscope and stared at All Might. "Well, you're definitely better off than you would have been without that boy's help. But…now he knows your secret."
Her face filled with concern, looking like a mother, "What are you going to do, Yuki?" The slightly buff, blonde heroine was in her true form.
She was a super skinny, super pale woman who looked to be 60 years old instead of her age of 45. Her blonde hair fell to the tops of her shoulders, except for two bangs of hair that fell to right above her chest, framing her face. She was wearing a pale red, loose dress that fell to her ankles, however the top of her dress was covered with a giant, super soft, gray sweater. Black dress shoes with a bit of a heel completed her look. She looked up at Recovery Girl.
"I don't think any harm will come from this. I trust young Midoriya."
Recovery Girl sighed, "The young man is bright, yes. But-"
The door slammed open, both women looking toward the boy in question. The boy heaved, "S-sorry I'm late A-All M-OH!" He noticed Recovery Girl, quickly trying to backtrack himself.
"I-I mean-oh there's All Might! She's outside, hey!" He began to walk toward the window when Recovery Girl spoke up, "I already know the secret, Mr. Midoriya. There's no reason to hide."
Midoriya sighed, "Oh…" He finally calmed down to take a few deep breaths. Recovery Girl exchanged a look of amusement with All Might. Midoriya sighed and sat on one of the hospital beds, facing All Might. Beside him, the Sages stood at attention, eyes fixed on All Might. The woman smiled warmly.
"Good morning, Young Midoriya. I hoped you made a restful recovery from that attack three days ago."
Midoriya grimaced at the reminder, but immediately put a smile back on, "Yes. It has been very calming-although my mother was very hesitant to let me come back here." All Might smiled weakly.
"I can imagine." Her smile turned into a very serious frown. "Young Midoriya, you remembered what happened at the USJ, correct?"
Midoriya nodded, "Yes, ma'am. Were you hit by a quirk from that…that lady with the many hands?"
All Might slowly shook her head, "No Young Midoriya. Now…please listen to me." She leaned forward and placed her hands on his shoulders, looking him directly in his eyes. Midoriya gulped, sitting even straighter.
"What I'm about to tell you is a secret among us, Recovery Girl, and the chief woman of police." Midoriya nodded.
….
I was among the women who were worth just as much as men were: I was one of the few women that were quirkless. I was treated like nothing: my mother, my sister, all of the friends that I had when I was little…they all turned their backs on me. I was alone…
One day, I was walking home from school when I saw a young boy being bullied by girls my age along with their mothers-the girls were even using their quirks. I already didn't appreciate how men were treated, but seeing practically grown women saying horrible words to a child got my blood boiling. I ran forward, shielding the boy. When they kept going, I found a nearby crowbar and began attacking.
…..
All Might turned away from Midoriya's glittering green eyes. "That's so cool!"
Recovery Girl scoffed good-naturedly, "It was reckless…but those women were asking for it." Both All Might and Midoriya looked at the elderly woman with round eyes and gaping mouths. "I'm not so old fashioned to believe that women need to be treated gently no matter their behavior."
Midoriya turned back to All Might, "What happened next?!"
….
The women were getting more and more aggressive, but I gave it my all, shielding the poor child. I thought the assault would never end until she appeared.
"What are you all doing?!" Looking up I saw a woman with black hair and black eyes. She was wearing a dark-colored, sleeveless body suit with a high collar; yellow, elbow-length gloves; white, knee-high boots; a gold belt; and a white cape. She looked at me and the boy for a few seconds before she turned her gaze to the other girls. The mothers were trembling and taking their daughters by the hand. Soon it was only me, the boy, and the woman.
I watched as the woman rubbed the boys' head with a tender smile, gently rubbing the tears from his eyes. The boy sniffled, thanking both of us before running home. She turned towards me, giving me a stern look. "I'm glad you didn't use your quirk as that is against the law, but it's okay if you need to defend yourself." I sighed in defeat, "I would have, but I don't have a quirk."
She didn't look at me in disgust or pity. She just gave me a look of patience, "Then why did you face them?" I gave her a look of bewilderment.
"Why wouldn't I-that boy needed help." I saw her widen her eyes in astonishment, before slowly fill with thought.
"Interesting answer. What is your name?"
"My name is Toshinori Yuki."
"Well, Toshinori Yuki, come with me. And call me Shimura Nana."
….
"And she offered me something that would turn me into the Heroine I became today-she offered me her Quirk-known as One-for-All."
Midoriya gasped, "She can offer a Quirk?! That's possible?!"
Recovery Girl had sat down at her desk, taking Zelda's healing shards and placing them under a microscope, "It's very rare, Sonny. However, it is possible." She looked up at Toshinori, "Tell him, Sweetie."
All Might nodded, "One-for-All is a Quirk that has been passed down between a teacher and a successor. Nana was the 7th user; I was the 8th."
Midoriya nodded, "I see."
All Might sighed, "One of the reasons I became a teacher at UA was so I could find my own successor." Midoriya spluttered.
"W-Why would you need a successor right now?! You're still a young woman; you're nowhere near ready for retirement!" All Might blushed in embarrassment.
"Thank you, Young Midoriya. But…there is a reason for my search." She lifted her dress, showing a scar that looked like part of her stomach was caved in. Midoriya placed a hand over his mouth in horror, eyes widening at the scene. All Might smiled in self-pity as she gazed at her scar. "It was a fight between me and the foulest evil that ever lived: All-for-One." Midoriya heard a shudder from Recovery Girl, causing him to gulp.
"All-for-One is a human that has managed to live past a normal human lifespan-around 200 years. This being can give and take away Quirks-reshaping human lives as it sees fit. And what's even more remarkable is that All-for-One is a male."
Midoriya gasped again, green eyes wide with shock. "Even though I knew every gender was equal, it had seemed that ever since I got One-for-All, I became a little too cocky-especially when I found out AFO was a man. He defeated me and killed my master right in front of me."
All Might had tears dripping down her face at her admittance. Midoriya sighed, looking down. "…I knew that AFO was going to show himself again, so I made sure to not have the same weaknesses that got my master killed. He showed again after a few years. I managed to defeat him, but not before he managed to mortally wound me. If Recovery Girl hadn't been there to help me recover, I would have died that night."
"But even though he died, there's always going to be something even more evil. So, I came to find someone and train them to use One-for-All."
Midoriya smiled, "I'm glad you managed to defeat him All Might. And I'm sure you'll find someone great."
All Might looked at Midoriya and smiled. "Thank you, Young Midoriya. I have a feeling I won't be searching for much longer." She nodded to the door, "You best get going to class."
Midoriya nodded, gave her and Recovery Girl a bow, and ran out the door.
Recovery Girl refocused the lens on her telescope, watching All Might who was gazing after Midoriya with a thoughtful expression.
…
Midoriya jumped as Uraraka, Iida, and Asui all crowded around his desk. "Zelda was amazing, Midoriya! I never knew she could be that huge!" He smiled sheepishly at the brunette as she gazed at him with lights in her eyes.
"Yeah. I'm really proud of her." He looked up at Iida and smiled, "Thanks for getting All Might on time, Iida. We'd all be dead right now if it weren't for you."
A loud thump caused him to squeak, followed by an angry voice, "Speak for yourself, Deku!" He slowly turned toward Kacchan who glared at him. He let out a nervous laugh and turned back to the three at his desk. Asui looked down in shame.
"Hey, uh…I never had the chance to properly say thanks for saving me. I guess I was in a lot of shock." Midoriya waved his hands in front of his face.
"N-No! You don't have to say anything! You almost…anyone would be in shock like you say!"
"Okay, Listen up!" The three girls (as well as everybody else) went back to their seats.
The students stopped, looking at Ms. Aizawa, who entered the classroom. "I know that our USJ trip was eventful, but I want all of you to think of it as experience for your future careers." All of her students nodded. "Now, it's time to prepare for the upcoming Sports Festival. This is an opportunity to not only show what you got, but to gain the attention of Pro Heroes who would want to take you on as an apprentice."
Midoriya felt his heart beat wildly in excitement. Apprenticeships?! We get those?! Eeee!
All of the other students shared his sentiment.
…..
Monoma Nokina let out grumbles as she watched the wretched Class 1-A walk through the hallway. They were bragging about the fact that they had their first taste in heroism because they were ambushed by villains at the USJ! How dare they act like that?! They were first years dang it! She huffed and shook her head, her long blonde pigtails shaking with the movement.
Not to mention…that male! A MALE had his encounter with villains! What the hell?! He shouldn't have been allowed in the first place!
"…It wasn't like that, you know."
The male had stopped a few paces after he went by her, his bangs shadowing his eyes. He was very still, his back to her, his posture tense. All students focused on the only male in the hall. In the corner of her eye, Monoma noticed how five girls from 1-A paused to look back at the scene: A brunette with pink cheeks; a bluenette with glasses; a half-red, half-white-haired girl; a greenette with frog-like features; and a spiky blonde.
Her best friend Kendo had walked forward; her already gigantic hand frozen in place as she was getting ready to karate chop her.
Monoma scoffed, "What do you mean?"
The green-haired male turned around, facing Monoma with the darkest look on his face. It made Monoma immediately drop her sneer, crystal-blue eyes wide with surprise.
"Did you think that we enjoyed it? Getting ambushed like that without the proper training? Being treated like fodder as bait for the Number One Heroine?! Having our teacher almost die?! All of us almost dying?! Asui was nearly killed!"
The frog-like girl let out an involuntary 'ribbit' at the reminder of her almost demise. The brunette walked up to her, giving her a one-armed hug. The male let out a hiss with a look of apology at his classmate. He then turned back to her.
"You're acting all high and mighty when the truth is you…all of you…would've been just as unprepared as we were! We never acted like we were any better than the rest of you-you did that all by yourselves. And you got the rest of these ladies stirred up because of your own massive ego!" He stated the last sentence to Monoma, green eyes blazing.
Monoma had a look of awe on her face. No male ever spoke to her like that! He didn't give her a chance to talk, "Now, if anybody else has anything to say-."
"I do."
A monotone voice cut through the silence, everyone turning toward a girl with lavender hair and exhausted looking eyes walking forward. She was looking at Midoriya with tired contempt.
"Why are you even here?" The brunette from 1-A glared at the newcomer.
"What is that supposed to mean?" The lavender-haired girl ignored her as she kept her lilac gaze at the male.
The male tilted his head, "I'm here because I want to be a hero. I may be a male but I was able to have a quirk and I'm using it to help me fulfill my dream. Isn't that what we all are doing? And who are you? I'm sorry I forgot to ask."
The girl narrowed her tired eyes, "I'm Shina. Shina Hitoshi. I made an extremely high score on the entrance exam, but because of you, a man, having a quirk, the school thought they would get a better reputation by putting you in the Hero course. If you had just been born a regular male…if you had never gotten a quirk…I would be in the Hero course, fulfilling my dream."
The male winced at the painfully honest reply.
"I'm sorry you feel that way Hitoshi. And I hope that you will someday get to be in a Heroics class someday. But…I'm not going to be intimidated by students in this school anymore."
Hitoshi nodded her head in acknowledgement, "I see." She closed her eyes in thought for a few seconds. When she opened them again, she asked, "What is your name?"
The male spoke up, "I'm Izuku Midoriya."
Monoma watched the interaction, putting Midoriya's name into memory.
"Well Midoriya, the Sports Festival is coming up in a few weeks. I'm going to be the last woman standing. When I beat you, the school will have to acknowledge me and place me in the Hero Course, taking you out. In other words, this is a declaration of war."
She turned around and walked back to her classroom, the other students parting to get out of her way.
"I acknowledge your words Hitoshi. But I'm not going to lose to you." Midoriya's words were so certain that Hitoshi paused in her walk. Monoma looked from Hitoshi to Midoriya.
"I suffered for being a male for years. It didn't matter that I had a quirk; I was a male and to their eyes, I wasn't even worth enough to lick their shoes." The bespectacled bluenette, the frog girl, and the brunette looked at Midoriya with anger on his behalf (the half-and-half girl had an expressionless face, but her eyes showed…sympathy? The blonde had looked away.). "But I worked hard and I'm going to do my best to win! I'm going to fulfill my dream and I'm not going to let you defeat me that easily."
Hitoshi whispered, "We'll see…" She then resumed her walk.
Midoriya sighed, green eyes following the lavender-haired girl. He mentally shook it off and looked at Monoma again.
"Well, that's all I wanted to say."
"…Nokina." Midoriya looked at her, "Huh?" The blonde looked down, "Y-you asked me if someone had anything else to say and w-well…I wanted to tell you my name. It's Nokina Monoma." Midoriya nodded,
"Thank you, Monoma."
The pigtailed girl nodded. The brunette from 1-A walked forward and took Midoriya's arm. "Come on Deku!"
Monoma never took her gaze away from the ma-Midoriya.
….
Bakugou let out a quiet 'tch' and walked forward, leading her class through the crowd. Where did this brave version of the nerd come from. Well, they did all recently survive a near-death experience…maybe that was a factor?
Well, that was unimportant. What she needed to focus on was training for the Sports Festival!
