The Last Knight

Chapter Six: Diaz Family Vacation

A few days had passed since the incident involving Richard's monster body transformation, and things were mostly quiet. With the exception of the other exchange student, although Richard and Star had managed to set him straight, another attack by Ludo that involved Marco and Richard trying to cheer Star up, and another that involved going to the magical equivalent of Best Buy.

Right now, at the Diaz residence, Star sat in front of her interdimensional mirror, the forms of her parents in the mirror going over some sort of lecture.

"Of course, very few are aware of the serious matter, so I'll be traveling afar to give an all-day lecture explaining the proper throne posture." The King explained. "Slouched shoulders are an epidemic among nobility these days."

The King's explanation soon started to fade out of Star's mind, the blonde princess losing interest rather quickly, the hearts on her cheek's turning into hourglasses.

"So this is what it's like to be bored to death." She whispered to herself.

"Star!"

The stern shout from her mother was enough to snap her out of her daze, snapping her to attention.

"Are those dimensional scissors?"

Looking over her shoulder, her face paled when she saw the dimensional scissors Pony Head had given her before being carted off to St. Olga's. They were imbedded into the desk, practically for all to see.

"Uh..." Star wracked her brain for an excuse before picking up the scissors and some pieces of paper. "N-No, no, of course not! Just normal Earth scissors. See?"

To prove this, she then proceeded to cut the papers into a unicorn cutout, while accidentally opening a small dimensional portal behind her. A monster's hand reached through the portal and paw at Star.

"Good. Because you're not to leave Earth." Queen Butterfly said sternly, by some stroke of luck, both her and River not noticing the monster claw trying to claw at Star.

"I would never think of it!" Star said with a nervous laugh, kicking at the monster's arm.

"Glad to hear it." River said before his watch started beeping. "I'm sorry. Your mother and I must cut you short. I have lecture things to do."

As her husband walked off, Moon rolled her eyes. "Oh, him and his lectures."

"Okay, bye!" Star yelled as her mirror went blank, before shoving the monster arm back through the portal before it closed, the blonde letting out a sigh of relief.

Just then, Marco opened the bedroom door, with Richard right behind him. "Star, we're about to celebrate my parents' anniversary. Come on."

"Yeah, you don't want to miss this!" Richard declared with a smile.

"Oh, no! I didn't get them anything!" Star frowned.

"Don't worry about it. My gift can be from both of us." Marco waved it off.

"But I wanna give them something just from me, 'cause your parents are actually cool." Star protested.

Marco stared at her statement with a disturbed expression. "Cool? Cool..." He then slowly backed out of the room, leaving Star and Richard alone.

"Well, I personally don't think they're that big a deal." The Earth-raised-Mewman shrugged. "After all, it's the thought that counts."

After Richard left, Star was left alone, her thoughts racing. She needed to find a gift for the Diaz's…somehow.

Back on Mewni, River and Moon were walking through the halls of the castle.

"Alright, now that everyone is buying my posture lecture front, it's time for me to begin my mission!" The king declared.

"River, while I appreciate the bravado, I still recommend you take a team with you." The queen told him. "You will need someone to keep you focused and safe."

"Oh, come on dear, I can handle myself." River declared, leaning against a suit of armor, causing it to drop the axe it was carrying, which he barely dodged. "Woah! Did you see that?! I almost took my head off! Ha! Ha!" He declared with a hearty laugh, before noticing his wife's deadpanned expression. "...Okay, I maybe can use the company." He relented with a frown.

"That's what I thought." Moon huffed before loudly calling out, "Captain Lousa!"

Coming through the doors was the Captain of the Guard, walking in like a soldier to her superior officer. She stood at attention and saluted her queen.

"Yes, Your Majesty."

"Assemble a team and accompany my husband on a mission." Moon instructed. "And if anyone asks, tell them you're escorting him to a lecture. And remember, this is of great importance, do not let anything happen to River, or the item he's to bring back."

"Understood."

Vera turned and began to leave to make the necessary preparations. Before stepping out through the doors, she took a quick glance at Twilight, who was sat near a window, looking out at the horizon.

'Now why does she look so familiar…' Vera thought to herself before focusing on the task at hand.

Back on Earth, at the Diaz Residence, Mr. and Mrs. Diaz were sat on the couch cuddling, Angie pulling at Rafael's chest hair playfully.

Meanwhile, the three kids stood before them, staring in awkward silence before Marco cleared his throat, getting their attention.

"Oh, hello, kids!" Mr. Diaz declared with a jolly smile.

"Happy anniversary, you guys!" Marco declared, holding out a small gift box.

Taking the box, the parents opened it and pulled out two red and green fanny packs.

"Wow, Marco! More... fanny packs!" Mrs. Diaz said.

"Okay, I know you guys are non-believers," Marco declared, lifting up his hoodie to reveal his own blue fanny pack. "But these are way cooler than last year's." He unzipped it to show off the items inside. "They have everything you need, like a dilemma whistle, non-drowsy antihistamine, and a space blanket made for two!"

"How does it hold all that stuff?" Richard asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Oh, yes, you know how much we love to travel and see the sights." Mr. Diaz laughed.

"My turn!" Richard declared before stepping forward, holding out two boxes. "Happy anniversary!"

Opening the gifts, the parents pulled out what looked like two large candles.

Taking a sniff, Mrs. Diaz gasped in delight. "Oh my! Scented candles!"

"It's not much, but the best I could do on short notice." Richard shrugged with a smile.

"I helped pick out your favorites." Marco added.

"Such wonderful gifts!" Mr. Diaz declared.

"Oh, boys, you two put so much thought into this." Mrs. Diaz said with a warm smile. "Gifts are such a great way to show how much you really care about someone. I didn't think it was possible to love you more than I do right now."

While the mother was saying this, Star was beginning to look more and more distressed, groaning and shaking, until she could hold it no more.

"And I'm giving you a trip to Mewni!" She exclaimed, jumping right over Marco's head.

"Good thing you didn't look up, bro." Richard whispered to Marco.

Letting out a gasp, the parents gave excited looks. "We're going to Mewni!"

"Uh, we can use our new fanny packs!" Marco declared.

"I finally get to visit Mewni?!" Richard gasped.

Mr. Diaz held Star and Mrs. Diaz in a hug and started jumping up and down, clearly excited about this impromptu trip to another world.

What could possibly go wrong?

Not too long later, the family had arrived through the dimensional portal, both Diaz parent holding cameras and looking like complete tourists.

"Welcome to Mewni!" Star declared, as they had arrived in one of the small villages.

Amazed, it didn't take long for the parents to start taking photographs.

"Is this where you grew up?" Mrs. Diaz asked.

"No-ho-ho. I live there." Star denied, pointing upward.

Looking up, the family saw a large castle above the smaller houses, the parents staring up in awe.

"Oh. Higher."

Apparently, they were looking at the wrong castle before looking higher, seeing a bigger castle in the clouds.

"Higher!" Star sang.

Looking higher once more, they saw Butterfly Castle. It was much larger than any other building in Mewni, possessing numerous towers of varying sizes that appear to be built into a mountain. Several railways and tunnels connected the tower to one another.

To say that the Diaz's were ecstatic would be an understatement, as they took multiple photos.

"Let's go there." Mrs. Diaz declared with excitement.

"Aw, you don't wanna see that lame, cheesy, touristy stuff." Star waved it off. "What you want is the real Mewni experience."

That 'Mewni experience' would come in the form of the Mewni slums. An overweight, burly woman was seen caring for 14 crying children, followed by a heard of 12 pig-goat hybrids, as well as a man with a long nose, stirring a pot of Gods know what stew. A small boy was seen reaching for the stew, only for the man to grab him and drop him screaming into the stew.

Oddly enough, the boy was giggling now.

Looking around, Richard noticed a young boy in rags, chewing on a dead horned rat. Deciding to be friendly, Richard approached but remained cautious.

"Hey there." He greeted in a friendly tone.

Almost immediately, the little boy turned and shrieked at him like a wild animal before shoving the dead rat into his mouth before running away on all fours.

Richard blinked a few times, weirded out. "A colorful bunch." He deadpanned.

"Um... Oh, look, an open-air market." Star said, leading the group along.

The family passed several market stalls, one dealing in hydra tail apples, another with shrunken goblin heads, and one selling…pickled giant's toes?

Eventually, the parents came across a merchant with purple hair wearing a cloak before he pulled his cloak away, making the couple gasp while the kids looked away.

"I got what you need."

From one angle, one might assume he was flashing them. But from the correct angle, he was actually selling the various wares on his cloak, including sundials, wind chimes, jewelry, and chicken.

"I'll take the wind chimes, please."

Going back on the tour, Mrs. Diaz carrying her newly purchased wind chime made of bones. As they passed an alleyway, Star looked down said alleyway and nearly gasped at what she saw; outside a weapons shop down the alley was none other than her father, River Butterfly, with Vera Lousa browsing the stock, accompanied by several elite soldiers. Two of them looked like swordsmen while the two behind the king carried bows and arrows.

Browsing the weaponry with a critical eye, Vera picked up a spear with a black tip.

"What say you of this one, your majesty?" She asked, presenting the weapon.

River held the weapon, examining it closely.

"Ah, a fine weapon indeed." He nodded. "Perfect for stabbing!"

Her face filled with dread, Star ran off, but Vera seemed to have taken notice and looked over her shoulder, only to see no one.

Meanwhile, Marco and Richard were standing next to a pig-goat pen. While their parents were snapping away pictures, Marco had pulled a wipe from his fanny pack and started cleaning the bottom of his shoe.

"So, how are you liking it so far, Rich?" He asked his adopted brother.

"It's amazing." Richard said in awe, looking about the place. "And yet, it feels so familiar. Almost like coming home after a long time."

Before their banter could continue, Star ran up and dragged them both into the middle of the pen.

"Whoa! Star, what the...?"

"My dad's here." Star said in a panicked tone.

"Your dad?!" Marco gasped.

Star briefly poked her head up before ducking back down. "Yes! As well as Captain Vera! I don't know what they're doing here, but if they see me, I am dead!"

"Star, just try to relax." Richard said. "Breathe in and out."

"Look, just tell my parents the fanny packs are from both of us, and we can go home." Marco suggested.

"But they're actually enjoying my gift." Star protested. "I don't wanna ruin this for them."

"Is it really worth getting caught by your folks?!" Richard hissed.

"Yes!"

The kids popped up, seeing Mr. and Mrs. Diaz taking photos of the pig-goats.

"Uh, okay! Uh, next, I wanna show you, uh..." Star stammered a bit before looking over to a scary-looking forest, an idea forming as she pointed towards it. "Oh! Mewni's natural beauty!"

Looking at the forest's entrance, while the parents eagerly went towards it, snapping pictures, Marco and Richard saw the sign at the entrance that their parents completely missed.

"'Forest of Certain Death'?!" Marco read in concern.

"That doesn't sound like any natural beauty I knew of." Richard added.

"Oh, don't read too much into the name." Star said, pulling the brothers along. "Hurry up!"

Star and the Diaz's enter the forest, while both Marco were put off by the intimidating atmosphere, both Mr. and Mrs. Diaz were enthralled, taking pictures.

"So, it's really kind of important to keep moving." Star said before pointing at a scary-looking tree. "There's a bleeding willow tree."

The Diaz parents awed at the sight, snapping pictures. Just then, a centipede-like monster slithered quickly past Marco, making him jump in alert.

"Here's a carnivore blossom."

Suddenly, a swarm of baboon-faced bees flew over Marco and Richard, making them duck to the ground to avoid them.

"Are you guys seein' any of this?!" Marco asked in fright.

"Seriously, this place is a death trap!" Richard exclaimed.

"See it?" Mr. Diaz declared, a giant's foot stomp past behind Star and the Diaz's. "Can't take our eyes off it!"

Mr. and Mrs. Diaz went skipping along, arm in arm, chanting 'Best anniversary ever', completely unaware of the dangers in the forest, right over a plant with teeth in the ground, waiting for prey like a Venus flytrap.

"Wait! Come back!" Star exclaimed, chasing after them.

Looking at the plant, Marco scoffed. "Oh, yeah. Nice try, 'path'." He then pulled out a few sticks of gum and dropped them onto the 'path', and the mouth snapped closed to chew on the gum.

"Nicely done, hero!" Richard said, clapping.

"Thanks bro." Marco smiled. "Hey, guys, did you see what I just did with that bubble gum?"

Just as he turned around, however, his expression turned deadpan when he saw how far away his friend and parents were down the road.

"Of course not."

"Don't feel bad, Marco." Richard said, hoping to cheer his brother up. "I thought it was quite impressive."

Eventually, the brothers did catch up to the wandering pair and princess, before coming across what appeared to be roses.

"Oh, wow. These flowers are lovely." Mrs. Diaz said, walking past.

"Not as lovely as you, dear." Mr. Diaz replied, following his wife, while taking pictures.

As Star rushed to keep up with the married couple, Richard and Marco were about to pass, when the roses seemed to rise from the ground, revealing to be flower monsters. While Richard was about to draw his sword, Marco quickly pulled out and blew his dilemma whistle, making the monsters sink back into the ground.

"Hmm. It worked." Richard said.

"Told you it was a good idea." Marco smirked, putting the whistle away.

The Diaz parents, too engrossed in their adventure, were running along some thick tree branches.

"Come on, my dear. Let me capture your beauty-ness on this magnificent adventure." Mr. Diaz declared, taking pictures of his wife, who was jumping and spinning along the branches, having the time of her life.

"Wait! Come back!" Star yelled, almost tripping on the branch. "Okay! You can stop being so cool now!"

Soon enough, she caught up to them, the parents taking pictures of what looked like a small porcupine-like creature, making it screech.

Star let out a sigh of relief. "They're still alive."

"These tracks are fresh, your highness."

Her expression turned pale when she heard a familiar feminine tone, turning her head to see her father and Vera and the soldiers, the Head of the Royal Guard examining the tracks, sniffing and even tasting the dirt.

"Yes, I wager we're closer than we think." River nodded.

Letting out a silent gasp, Star ducked behind the log. "Pegasus feathers! They're on to me!"

Just then, a zipper being pulled was heard, both Richard and Marco approaching from the bushes.

"Nothin' makes you feel more like a man than goin' to the bathroom in the woods." Marco said.

"Marco, I doubt that would-" Before Richard could finish his sentence, both he and Marco were pulled down behind a log by Star.

"We gotta go. It's not safe here." Star said in a hushed, panicked tone before pointing. "Look. My dad is right there."

Standing up, Vera pointed in a direction. "Let's go this way."

Ducking back behind the log with the boys, Star said, "Let's just get your parents and go home."

"Wow, it's almost like we suggested the exact same thing." Richard said sarcastically.

"Okay, Mr. and Mrs. Diaz, that concludes the tour. Hope you've enjoyed your..."

But when the kids turned, they saw that the parents were gone.

"Mr. and Mrs. Diaz?" Star called but got no response.

"I knew we shouldn't have taken our eyes off them!" Richard growled. "They were getting way too into this adventure!"

"Where did they go?" Marco asked in a concerned tone.

"Why would you ask a question that NO ONE HAS AN ANSWER FOR?!" Richard snapped.

Star gasped and pointed. "Look! Footprints!"

Following the footprints, the trio arrived at a skull-shaped cave before entering. They ducked under blats fluttering from the mouth of the cave as they snuck into the cave. As they snuck further in, Richard stopped when he took notice of a broken down, ornate chest off the path. Curious, Richard approached the chest and opened it, and inside was a long, chain whip with the head of a Morningstar attached to the end of the whip. Amazed, he picked up the weapon with its handle, feeling surprisingly light it was in weight, but he also felt some form of powerful magic emitting from it. It felt like something out of Heaven.

Taking hold of the handle, he swung it around to get a good feel for it, swinging it in both defensive and offensive forms. He then cracked it, which created a blast of holy magic to fire from the tip of the weapon, splashing against the rock wall and causing an explosion.

Richard looked at the spot where the wall once stood, then looked at the whip, and smiled.

"Neat find." He said before latching the weapon to his belt.

"Richie, over here!"

Hearing his brother call for him, Richard jogged to catch up, and when he did, he saw the belongings, and clothes of Mr. and Mrs. Diaz on the ground.

"It's their stuff!" Marco said, picking up his mother's wind chimes. "But where are they?"

Suddenly, they felt a strong breeze going back and forth. Star stepped forward, peaking into a hole as the breeze kept going, only to realize that it was the nose of a large creature, pulling out to see the face of a slumbering hydra. The girl gasped as the hydra opened its eyes awake before lifting its head up, followed by another, and another, until all five heads were raised, staring down the trio, before letting out a roar.

The trio screamed in terror.

"Let's get outta here!" Marco yelled.

"No! Look!" Richard stopped him, pointing at the beast's stomach, as something seemed to kick from within, and muffled screams were heard. "That thing ate them!"

The hydra snorted before one of the heads lunged forward with open jaws. Star pushed Richard and Marco out of the way before the hydra head caught her in its mouth. Inside the mouth, the tongue lashed at the princess, attempting to pull her down the throat, but Star was avoiding it.

Outside, Richard decided to use his new weapon, launching the head of the chain whip at the neck then pulled as hard as he could, slamming the head into the ground.

"Let her go!" Marco yelled, jumping on its face, then shoving his hands right into the hydra's nostrils and pulling Star out.

Once freed, the princess aimed her wand at the head that tried to eat her.

"Super Rainbow Dolphin Slam!"

She then fired a magic dolphin blast at the head, then fired again at two more heads coming at them, Richard pulling out his shield and bashing at a fourth head.

"Come on!" Richard yelled.

The trio ran down the tunnel, the hydra stomping after them, until they hit the end of the cave.

"A dead end?!" Marco yelled in shock.

The hydra roared as it caught up to them, its many heads thrusting towards them. Star fired her magic dolphin blast at them, while Marco sucker punched a third, and Richard used his chain-whip, wrapping around the neck of another hydra head and slamming it against the wall. The fifth head unleashed a stream of fire from its mouth, the trio running opposite sides of the hydra and avoiding the flame. The hydra turned around and shot fire at them again, Richard pulling out and holding up his shield, blocking the blast.

"Marco, you got anything in that pack of yours?!" Richard asked.

"I pretty much used up everything when I was schoolin' the Forest of Certain Death." The Hispanic boy said. "Well, except for the space blanket," he then pulled out a book of knots that was an inch big. "And this miniature miniature book of knots."

Star chuckled. "So cute."

Just then, Richard had an idea.

"...Did you say knots?"

"Yeah. Why?" Marco asked.

A few seconds later, the three kids jumped out from behind their cover and ran in opposite directions around the hydra.

"Bet you can't catch me!"

"Over here!"

"Catch me if you can, sucka!"

Four of the hydra's heads went after Star while the others went after Richard and Marco.

"Hey, you! Yeah, you!" Star yelled, jumping over a hydra head, then another, getting the heads entangled. "You can't catch me!"

"Over here!" Marco yelled.

"Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!" Richard taunted. "I fart in your general direction!"

The brothers jumped and dodged more incoming hydra heads, getting the heads necks tangled.

The three kept running in every direction, tricking the hydra into getting its heads tangled tight in a knot, making the monster suffocate and fall over, its head falling atop one another.

"Whoo-hoo!" Star cheered.

"Another one bites the dust!" Marco declared.

"A real slobber knocker!" Richard declared.

Unbeknownst to the kids, however, there was another hydra head that didn't get tangled, as it towered over them, then lunged at them…

Only for a black spear to be thrown and stabbing it right between the eyes, sending it crashing into the earth with a loud boom, dead. The kids stared at it in shock before a figure jumped on the head and pulled the spear out, twirling it with skill to wipe the blood off before turning to face the kids with hardened eyes, her short black hair flowing in the wind and her silver eyes staring down at them.

"Captain Lousa?!" Star gasped.

"Princess Star." Vera said flatly before jumping down, then approaching the kids and towering over them. "Care to explain how and why you three are here, on Mewni?"

Before Star could answer, a trumpeting yell was heard from above, prompting them to look up. They saw King Butterfly on a cliff, holding his own spear and wearing nothing but a loincloth, with a bone sticking out of his beard. He jumped down, ready to challenge the hydra, only to see it already defeated.

"Aw, I missed the battle?" He said, pouting.

"You can thank these three for that." Vera said, gesturing to the kids.

"Star?!" The king gasped when he saw Star.

"Nevermind that!" Marco exclaimed. "My parents are still inside that thing!"

Acting quickly, Vera sliced a hole in the hydra's stomach, freeing several Mewni civilians that had gone missing.

"At least the missing civilians are safe." Vera commented. "That beast won't be a problem anymore."

Looking inside the stomach, Marco's eyes widened with worry. "They're not here?!" He gasped. "Quick, to the large intestine before they're fully digested!"

Marco squished through the hydra's innards, gagging as he dug through the innards. Star and Richard only stood silent, their faces wrinkled with worry, while Vera and King Butterfly had apologetic eyes.

Suddenly, they heard giggling coming from the other side of the cave. Looking through the fog, they saw both Mr. and Mrs. Diaz, both enjoying a hot spring.

"There's nothing like a steamy bath after a long day of exploration."

"Mom! Dad!" Marco said in relief.

"You're alive!" Star declared.

"Aaaand you're both naked." Richard added, covering his eyes.

Taking notice of King Butterfly, Mr. Diaz waved. "Ah, King Butterfly! Care for a dip?" He asked.

Raising a brow, the king cleared his throat. "As inviting as that sounds, I need a minute with my daughter." He said before taking Star by the arm and pulling her away.

"Star, you know you're not to leave Earth!" King Butterfly chastised his daughter, Captain Vera standing beside him and sharing his disapproval. "What are you doing here?"

"Better yet, how are you here?" Vera added.

"Okay, okay! Uh, but the thing is, it's not exactly my fault!" Star said, trying to explain herself. "There—it was an anniversary! It all started with the fanny packs..." She stopped, her eyes widening in thought. "Hey! Aren't you supposed to be giving some 'boring lecture'?" She questioned with narrowed eyes.

"Do not dodge the question, young lady." Vera countered. "Unlike you, the King and I have a reason for being out here. That hydra has been responsible for the disappearance of many Mewmans for years and something needed to be done!"

"Not to mention it keeps me sane. Being king can be exhausting." King Butterfly added. "Nothing like a good monster fight to not only keep my skills sharp, but it also helps with my throne posture!"

"So I get my monster fighting from you." Star said before smiling, realizing just how wrong she had her father prior. "Cool!"

King Butterfly laughed. "I suppose so."

"But why the secrecy?" Star asked.

Vera looked over to Richard, who was still with Marco, both boys looking over the hydra corpse, before the captain looked back to the princess.

"I'm afraid we cannot say much, but it involves your friend, Richard, as you call him." She said. "Don't worry; all will be revealed, when the time is right."

Star seemed unsure, but accepted this. She knew better than to push things, especially when it comes to Vera Lousa.

"Are you gonna tell Mom you saw me?" She asked with concern.

"Don't worry, leave that to us." King Butterfly said. "At best, we'll try not to mention you."

Smiling, Star embraced her father and captain in a hug before Richard and Marco approached.

"Well, guess all ended well." The Hispanic boy said. "It's cool that you guys bonded and you got to see that side of your dad."

Just then, Mr. Diaz was seen walking by, thankfully in his underwear, before Marco covered his friend and brother's eyes.

"I wish I hadn't seen that side of my dad." He said, chuckling.

"Well, we fought a hydra, our parents are happy with their anniversary," Richard commented before holding up his newly obtained weapon. "And I have a new weapon added to my arsenal!"

Upon seeing the weapon, Vera gasped. "I don't believe it. That's the Morningstar!" She exclaimed.

"That once belonged to the leader of the Mewni Knights Templars!" King Butterfly added. "Commander Nova Belmont!"

Richard's eyes widened, remembering reading about the Mewni Knights during his free time back in school.

"What can you tell me about him?" He asked.

"Nova was a brave and noble Knight who lead the order." Vera said. "And, at one point, for four years, he served as King."

Star gasped at this. "Seriously?! How?! I thought the crown passed to the daughters!"

"I'm not quite sure of the circumstances, but from what I heard, he stood in defense of Mewni during the Monster Rebellions." King Butterfly explained. "All I know is that he was king for four long years until Moon reached the age of eighteen, especially after proving herself in battle. For his loyalty and courage, Nova was given the title of Lord Commander of the Knights Templars, facing off against our most hated enemies; the Nosferatu."

Marco gasped. "Vampires?!"

"These creatures were banes of the night, preying on the innocent." Vera said with distain. "Then Nova pushed them to near extinction, slaying the vile creatures."

Richard was in awe at this revelation. "Nova was a hero."

"Indeed he was." King Butterfly said. "I'm sorry we cannot stay much longer, but we must be on our way. Eventually, the royal duties must demand my attention!"

"Perhaps, if time permits, you can stay longer next time." Vera suggested. "River and Moon have many stories they could tell you of Nova."

Richard smiled. "I look forward to it."

And with that, both king and captain left, followed by the soldiers. Watching them leave, Richard was in his thoughts reflecting about the things he was told.

"Amazing. Nova really was the leader of Knights." He said with a smile. "Not only that, but he was also a vampire hunter!" His eyes widened in realization. "Wait, I forgot to ask if he was my dad!"

"Hey, I'm sure you'll get another chance." Star assured. "Besides, it's not like it'll change who you are."

"Yeah, you'll always be my bro." Marco said, wrapping an arm around Richard's shoulder.

The Belmont boy smiled, thankful to have such close friends.

Upon returning to the castle, King Butterfly and Captain Vera walked through the halls and entered the throne room, where Queen Moon and Twilight waited.

"Did you get it?" Moon asked as her husband and captain approached.

"Indeed we have." River nodded before pulling a book from his coat.

The book itself was embroidered in red and silver, the cover of it faded, making the words on the front unreadable.

Stepping forward, Twilight took the book and held it close to her chest.

"Thank you for this." She said, looking up at River. "You've done me a great service, retrieving my husband's journal."

"Think nothing of it, love." The king said, bowing politely. "Family should always help one another out!"

"Sadly, not everyone shared that sentiment." Twilight muttered bitterly.

"In other news, we've defeated the hydra behind the missing civilians." Vera added.

"And thanks to young Richard, we also found Nova's old weapon!" River finished.

At the mention of Richards name, Twilight looked at him in shock.

"Richard? He was here? How?"

Somewhere on Mewni, in a dark graveyard, stood a crypt. Deep underground was a burial chamber lined with many coffins and red candles. At the center of the room was a coffin standing up, surrounded by broken chains.

Then the lid slid open, allowing a skinny hand to slide out, digging its nails into the wood of the coffin. And a pair of glowing red eyes peered from inside.

And there's the new chapter! This was a fun one, Richard getting his Castlevania inspired weapon and getting to learn a bit about his father. Sorta. And, of course, as suggested by both Guest and Unity, River finds the item, and I went with the classic journal of a fallen hero trope. Not much changed, besides the inclusion of the OC's, and of course, the Nosferatu. Can't have a Castlevania reference without vampires!

Also, I've been getting further into the show, and I've got idea juices flowing big time! I've also got a backstory planned for both Toffee and Nova. No spoilers, but it does involves some inspiration from Transformers One and Gladiator.

And with that said, thanks for reading and I hope you look forward to more as we roll into Brittney's Party! As always, stay tuned for more! Reviews are greatly appreciated!
