Episode 19: Camp Wawanakwa: Civil War
The camera focuses on Chris at the end of the Dock of Shame. "Last time on Total Drama Island." The scene cuts to flashbacks of the previous episode. "I started the contestants off by telling them they didn't have to compete in the challenge, IF they were willing to part with their Immunity Idols. Korra, Ben, and Danny seemed to think they'd be fine. I guess we'll soon find out. Anyway, then we moved on to the challenge itself: a fashion competition. And the ones who had to make the other contestants look good were the ones that were too lazy to compete…"
"You just said they were given an out," said Chef.
"Doesn't mean they weren't lazy," said Chris. "Anyway, after the clothing choices forced me to give Fransua a payrise, their make-up choices brought out the real drama, namely in Luz and Korra breaking up, meaning neither Luz or Buttercup were wearing make-up for the challenge…wait, should I have disqualified them for that?"
"Too late now," said Chef.
"You're right, I can punish them this episode," said Chris.
"Why? Korra's the one who screwed up," said Chef.
"She can be punished too," said Chris. "Anyway, then we got to the judging, and oh boy, were they judgable. But, two contestants managed to tie in the end: Steven and Kim. So, we made them have a walk-off, which ended up Steven falling off the stage, and Kim winning two Immunity Idols. Also, did anyone notice Steven turning pink?"
"Yeah, I emailed his girlfriend Connie about that," said Chef. "Her response says that if this happens, we should…"
"Eh, it's probably just a blush," said Chris dismissively. "Anyway, at the Elimination Ceremony, Mandy got the most votes, but since she still had two Immunity Idols, that loss went to Tulip." The scene cuts back to Chris standing on the Dock of Shame. "Whose turn is it to take the Boat of Losers home? There's one way to find out: right here, on Total. Drama. Island."
Intro song plays.
Korra was sitting in an empty corner of the beach, just looking out at the water. "You," came a voice from behind her. Korra looked around, and saw Mandy striding up to her.
"Oh, it's you," said Korra. "What do you want?"
"That's no way to talk to your new leader," said Mandy.
"New leader?" asked Korra. "What are you talking about?"
"You know exactly what I mean," said Mandy. "I heard what happened between you and Glyph Girl…"
"Do you always refer to people by something that isn't their name?" asked Korra.
"When you earn my respect, I'll bother to learn your name, Water Mover," said Mandy.
"You know I control more than the water, right?" asked Korra.
"Anyway, I know you hate the Glyph Girl," said Mandy. "I can't say I'm too fond of her either…"
"You're not fond of anyone," said Korra.
"…but with my help, we can get her removed from the competition," said Mandy. "What do you say? Do we have a deal?"
"I don't even hate her," said Korra. "I just…I just wish I hadn't screwed up."
"Everyone screws up from time to time," said Mandy. "Well, except for me, obviously. But do you know what you need to do about that? Focus on the game at hand. Now, I can get you to the end, but…"
"Why do you want to help me?" asked Korra suspiciously.
"Because now that you and Glyph Girl are on the outs, you're going to need teammates to get anywhere," said Mandy.
"I've still got friends," said Korra. "The other girls…"
"The princess and the redhead?" asked Mandy. "Tell me, whose team were they on when they got here: yours or Glyph Girl's?"
"We've bonded since then," snapped Korra.
"Did you?" asked Mandy.
"I'd like to think we did," said Korra, slightly unsure of herself. "In any case, Danny's still here. We work well together."
"Oh yes, the Dead Man," said Mandy. "Who I believe has started his little boys club."
"He's still my friend," said Korra.
"Is he?" asked Mandy. "We're in competition. And I don't know if you've noticed, but there are six girls and four boys left. They know they're in the minority, and they're going to do everything in their power to fix that."
"Danny wouldn't turn on me like that," said Korra.
"Whatever you say," said Mandy. "Now, let's see…the only other member of your original team is the traitor. Who you voted out first, and when he came back, you excluded his girlfriend from your group. Is he going to be on your side?"
"…I mean, compared to you…" started Korra.
"Just think about it," said Mandy, leaving. "I know you'll make the right choice." Korra just stared after her in confusion.
Confession Cam: Korra
"Mandy cannot be serious, can she? She knows no-one on this island likes her. I don't even think Buttercup likes her that much. She can't actually think I'd join her. She never done anything nice for anyone…well, except for that time she gave me one of her Immunity Idols…but she couldn't have known about me and Luz at the time…could she?"
"Campers, it's challenge time," said Chris. "Get your butts to the Mess Hall now, we have to do some prep work before we begin today's challenge."
"What do you think he means by that?" asked Star.
"Probably nothing good for us," said Kim.
"Nothing's ever good for us," said Luz, still lying on her bed, moping.
"Come on Luz, it's time to go," said Kim, reaching a hand out to her. "You want to win the money, right?"
"Ugh…" said Luz, not making any effort to move.
"You want to beat Korra, right?" asked Star.
"Please don't say her name," said Luz, still not making an effort to move.
"But you do want to, right?" asked Kim.
"…yeah, I suppose," said Luz, getting up and joining the others.
Soon, the group was in the Mess Hall, with Chris and Chef before them. "Okay campers, today's challenge is one of two," said Chris. "You'll either be joining me, or Chef. Your call."
"Does it have to be an even split between the two of you?" asked Danny.
"Preferably yes, but no, it doesn't," said Chris. "I say that because I know most of you will choose me over Chef…"
"I pick Chef," said so many voices at once it was impossible to discern how many had just spoken.
"…okay, we're making it an even split then," said Chris. "But I'm still going to let you pick your own teams…"
"I pick Chef," said so many voices at once it was impossible to discern how many had just spoken.
"Okay, one last chance to do this properly," said Chris, getting agitated. "Otherwise I'll pick your teams, and you know you'll the…"
"I pick…" started Steven, then noticed no-one else was speaking. "Oh, I thought we were still doing that."
"No, that threat's too dangerous to risk him following through with it," said Ben.
"Damn right," said Chris. "So, who's going with who?"
"I suppose we don't get any kind of clue as to what the challenges are?" asked Nate.
"You already know I'm not going to do that," said Chris.
"Great…" said Nate. "I guess I'll go with Chris. Chef seems like he's got something brutal planned."
"Of course it is," said Chef.
"Are the challenges connected in any way?" asked Danny.
"Maybe they are," said Chris. "Maybe they're not. Again, you're doing this blind."
"Hmm…" started Danny. "I'm guessing Chef's going to run some kind of boot camp, and Chris will probably have something just as torturous…can I have a coin to flip?"
"I'll take Chef," said Mandy. "He wouldn't do anything to me that he might regret."
"Won't I?" asked Chef. Mandy just glared at him. "Okay, maybe I won't. Or at least, I won't be obvious about it, unlike Chris."
"What's the point of torture if you're subtle about it?" asked Chris. "Anyway, anyone else have a team they want to be on?"
"So it is teams then?" asked Kim.
"Did I say that?" asked Chris. "I mean, you're going to be paired with one of the two of us. What do you call that other than a team?"
"Well, if Mandy's with Chef, I suppose I am too," said Buttercup.
"Of course you are," muttered Ben.
"I'll be on Chris's side," said Luz and Korra at the same time, before staring at each other in disgust.
"Well, as much as I'd like seeing you two on the same side," said Chris. "I'm willing to let one of you switch. Can't have bickering on my team."
"Actually, according to your rules…" started Chef who was holding a rulebook, before Chris snatched the book out of his hands and threw it into a nearby fireplace.
"I'll switch," said Korra, who noticed a smirk from Mandy. Korra shuddered, realising her mistake at doing this.
"We'll be on Team Chris," said Star, holding up Kim's hand as she spoke. Star then gave Korra a dirty look. Korra looked shocked at this reaction.
Confession Cam: Korra
"There's no way Mandy was right about the other girls turning on me, right? Right?"
"Star, did you really need to do that to Korra?" whispered Kim. "We're still her friend, aren't we?"
"Yeah, but we've known Luz longer," said Star.
"We've known them the same amount of time," said Kim. "We know Luz better because we were on the same team."
"Pfft, same difference," said Star dismissively.
"Okay, so that's Luz, Kim, Star, and Nate for me," said Chris. "Buttercup, Mandy, and Korra for Chef so far."
"We'll go with Chef," said Steven, holding up Ben's hand as he did so.
"Why are you dragging me into this?" asked Ben.
"Because we're buddies, right?" asked Steven. "We are still buddies, right?" Steven seemed to glow slightly more pink than normal upon saying this.
"Uh, yeah, absolutely dude," said Ben quickly, causing Steven's pink glow to fade.
Confession Cam: Ben
"Jeez, Steven's condition is getting worse. I need to tell someone about this. But who? Chris and Chef aren't going to care, the other contestants know nothing about human-rock alien hybrids, it's not like I have a way of learning about alien biology on the…wait…" Ben looked at his wrist upon saying this. "…I'm a *beep* idiot."
"So Danny, I don't think you need that coin anymore," said Chris. "You're with me."
"Let's be honest, whatever's about to happen will be equally bad for everybody anyway," said Danny.
"Or will it?" asked Chris. "Well, you'll find out in a moment anyway. Chef's team, off to the Dock of Shame with him, he'll explain what's in store for you there."
"Good luck with your challenge guys," said Steven as he left.
"You realise we're probably in competition with each other, right?" asked Nate, but the others were already out the door.
"Okay, what have you got for us?" asked Kim.
"This," said Chris, putting a box on the table.
"We've gotta protect this from the other team?" asked Danny.
"Don't be silly Danny, that would be way too obvious," said Luz dismissively. "There's no way Chris would come up with something so bas…" Luz then looked at Chris, and saw he was fuming. "It is that basic, isn't it?"
"If I had time to suddenly make this challenge more challenging, I would," said Chris. "But yes, that's basically the challenge. There are some magic words in the box…"
"MAGIC!" yelled Star, suddenly excited.
"Okay, poor choice of words on my part," said Chris. "The point is, there are some special words written inside this box that, if the other team read, they win. You guys protect it for twelve hours, you win. Simple, right? Predictable? Basic?" The last part of this was directed at Luz.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry," said Luz.
"And I suppose time hasn't started yet?" asked Kim.
"Nope," said Chris. "Time starts when Chef finishes briefing the others and fires his…" Suddenly, a loud gunshot rang out. "Well, good luck."
Chef's meeting…
"Alright maggots, here's the deal," said Chef. "Chris has a box, you need to get it, and read the thing inside it. You have twelve hours to do so. Any questions?"
"Uh, yeah, just one," said Steven. "What's the catch to this?"
"You dolt," said Mandy. "Clearly we've gotta fight our way past the other team."
"Pfft, there's no way that they come up with something so basic for a…" started Steven, before noticing Chef's face. "Wait, it is really that basic?"
"Eh, I don't care if you insult it," said Chef. "Chris is the one that made it up. I told him it was too basic, he told me to shut up."
"So whichever team has the strongest fighters wins then?" asked Ben.
"Good. That means I'll win this for us," said Buttercup.
"We do seem to get a lot of challenges that seem to end in some kind of brawl," said Korra. "Is there a reason for that?"
"Mostly because Chris knew most of you have some kind of special power, and loves that he doesn't have to pay for special effects for cool fight scenes," said Chef.
"Of course that's the reason," said Korra.
"So, when do we start?" asked Ben.
"We start once I…" started Chef.
"Hey, what's this?" asked Steven, grabbing the gun on Chef belt. All of a sudden, it went off, sending a flare up into the air. "Oops…"
"You're just lucky no-one was up there," said Chef, as a seagull fell out of the sky. "Well, I know what you're having for lunch. Also, your time's started."
"Alright, let's do this," said Buttercup, getting ready to fly into the Mess Hall.
"I feel like maybe we should strategi…" started Korra.
"Less talk, more fight," said Buttercup, flying straight into the Mess Hall. Buttercup ignored Kim, Star, Luz, and Nate's attempts to grab her, and went straight for the box. "Come to…" started Buttercup, before hearing a loud ghostly wail as she tried to open the box. The blast sent her flying out the door, and back to the Dock of Shame.
"Again, maybe we should come up with a plan?" suggested Korra.
"Nah, I've got this," said Buttercup, flying at the Mess Hall again. Seconds later, the group heard another ghostly wail, and Buttercup landed back on the Dock again.
"Now do you…" started Korra, as Buttercup flew at the Mess Hall again, and again got ghostly wailed out again.
"…okay, fine, let's sit around and talk," sighed Buttercup.
Meanwhile…
"Did they really think sending Buttercup in by herself would work?" asked Star.
"I have a feeling she did that herself," said Kim.
"Well, hopefully she waits before she tries again," said Danny. "Three ghostly wails in a row takes a lot out of me."
"Okay, you take five," said Kim. "Star, you wanna have some fun?"
"You know it girl," said Star, grabbing out her wand and eagerly watching the dock, waiting for someone to come up from there.
"And what should I do?" asked Nate.
"Uh…" started Kim, trying to think of a job for him.
"You could…uh…" started Danny.
"You have no idea, do you?" asked Nate.
"What? No, no, that's totally…" started Luz.
"You're right, we don't," said Star, still watching the Dock.
"Star!" shouted Kim.
"What? It's true," said Star.
"Look, Nate," said Luz. "It's not that we don't want you on the team, it's just…what can you do against a chemically enhanced superhero, a half alien rock, someone who controls the elements, a carbon copy of every alien in the universe, and Mandy?"
"I could do something," said Nate. "I could…uh…"
"Try not to get into trouble?" suggested Kim.
"Yeah…yeah, I guess," said Nate dejectedly, slumping over in a nearby seat.
Confession Cam: Nate
"Man, I thought it was going to be really cool to come back, but now I'm one the only one on this island without anyone kind of superpower or combat skill. Well, aside from Mandy, but she's got the scary factor on her side. I just want to be able to do something…hmm…"
Meanwhile, on Chef's side…
"Alright minions, listen up," said Mandy, standing before the rest of the team. "It's time we figured out how to get past the other team."
"We're not your minions," said Korra.
"Not yet you're not," said Mandy with a knowing smirk.
"What is she talking about?" asked Steven.
"Nothing," said Korra a little too quickly. Ben gave her a concerned look, but Mandy had already continued talking.
"Okay, first thing's first, what are the strengths and weaknesses of the other team?" asked Mandy. "Water Mover, you were very close with Glyph Girl, what can you tell us about her?
"Uh…" started Korra. "Well, she has no actual powers. She needs to draw those glyphs and activate them to use magic."
"How does that work?" asked Mandy.
"I think she said she had a vial of blood that allowed it to work," said Korra. "I don't know how it all works though."
"Interesting…" said Mandy. "Okay, now what do you know about the princess?"
"I mean, she has that wand," said Korra. "She uses it to…wait, are you gathering this information for your own benefit?"
"Duh," said Mandy. "We're in a competition. If I can find an advantage to use against someone, I will."
"Which is why I haven't told you that breaking my gem can kill me," said Steven.
"…noted," said Mandy. "Anyway, does the princess actually need the wand to do her magic, or…"
"I don't know how her powers work," said Korra. "I'm not the one using them. I just control the elements."
"And how do you do that exactly?" asked Mandy.
"Um, aren't we focusing on the other team right now?" asked Buttercup.
"Ugh, fine, we'll do that then," said Mandy. "So, how about that Dead Man?"
"Again, not really sure how Danny's ghost powers work," said Korra. "Though I think he mentioned that that wail takes a lot out of him…"
"Oh really?" asked Buttercup. "Well, in that case…" Buttercup made like she was about to take off after Danny again, but Mandy grabbed her leg before she could move.
"Easy Green, you'll get your revenge soon enough," said Mandy. "The only other one is Spy Girl…"
"What about Nate?" asked Steven.
"What about him?" asked Mandy.
"Gotta go with Mandy on this one," said Ben. "He's not a bad guy or anything, but he's…not really a threat. Even Kim at least knows how to fight." At this comment, there was the sound of something rustling. "What was that?"
"Probably a squirrel or something in one of those bushes," said Steven.
"Hmm…" said Mandy, stroking her chin. "Yes, a squirrel. A lowly, pathetic, useless squirrel, hiding in those bushes." More rustling came from the bushes.
"Uh, Mandy?" asked Korra. "What are you doing?"
"In fact, I bet Buttercup could fly in there and find the squirrel in question," said Mandy. "Quite easily, in fact."
"But why would I…" started Buttercup.
"Trust me," said Mandy. "You're going to want to get that squirrel. Now, before it tries to leave."
"…uh oh…" said the rustling bush, which picked itself up and tried to run away. However, before it could get more than two steps away, Buttercup grabbed it and removed the bush, revealing…
"Nate?" asked Steven. "What brings you here?"
"Uh, hi guys," said Nate awkwardly, as he dangled in front of the group. "So, uh, I was just looking for the bathroom, then was going to go back to my team, and now I should really be on my…"
"You know damn well where the bathrooms are," said Mandy, glaring at him. "And you have a bit of a history of spying, don't you?"
"…I mean, is it really spying when you were never on the team?" asked Nate.
"Kinda the definition of it, yes," said Ben.
"Oh…" started Nate. "But, you know, my team will be worried about me, so I should get back to them before…"
"Oh, they'll be worried about you all right," said Mandy. "Who wants to record this?"
"…record?" asked Nate, suddenly very worried about what was going to happen.
Meanwhile…
"Why aren't they attacking?" asked Star, still poised to attack. "I'm getting bored."
"It is a little odd," said Danny. "Buttercup came at us immediately. I'd have thought they'd be more relentless, to try and wear us out."
"Maybe they're making a plan to attack us more strategically?" suggested Kim.
"Possibly," said Danny. "Hopefully they'll figure it out soon. Star's right, this is boring."
"Hey, where's Nate?" asked Luz.
"Probably just went to the bathroom or something," said Danny. "Not a bad idea for him really, it keeps him out of the way in case something DOES happen."
"He's not in the bathroom," came a voice from the causing the four of them to spin around, seeing Mandy in the doorway.
"Star, you were meant to be on guard," said Danny.
"Hey, the conversation was far more interesting than the watching and waiting," objected Star.
"Guys, I think we're missing the problem at hand," said Luz.
"Oh, right," said Star, pointing her wand at Mandy, as Danny's hands started glowing green, Luz pulled out a glyph, and Kim got into a fighting pose. Mandy looked at all this with an unimpressed look on her face.
"Relax, I come with a message," said Mandy, almost bored. "If you want Nate back, you'll give up the box."
"What are you talking about?" asked Star.
"Oh, come on princess, even you can't be that thick," said Mandy, holding up a phone. "Take a look." Mandy pressed on the video on the phone, and the four of them started watching.
"Okay Mandy, camera's going," came Steven's voice from the video. "Don't know what you need this for though."
"This," said Mandy, appearing on the screen, next to Nate who'd been buried up to his neck in the sand. "Hello, losers from the other team. I don't know why you thought it was a good idea to send him as a spy, but if you're going to make stupid mistakes, I'm not going to stop you…"
"To be fair, we didn't ask him to do anything," said Danny.
"Quiet loser," said Mandy, as the video continued.
"Because I'm merciful though, I have a proposal for you," continued video Mandy, getting a snort from Luz. Mandy glared at her as the video continued. "Bring us the box, and we let him go. Don't do so, and…well, high tide will be here soon enough."
"Wait, what?" asked Nate, suddenly alarmed. "You're not actually going to leave me here until then though, right? Right?"
"You have one hour from the moment you see this video," said video Mandy. "I'd think very wisely if I was you." The video ended, with the four of them looking at each other with concern.
"You heard video me," said Mandy. "You know where to find us when you make your decision." Mandy started walking out of the Mess Hall.
"Where do you think you're going?" asked Luz, pulling out a glyph and slamming on the ground. The ground around Mandy suddenly erupted with vines, several of them wrapping themselves around her.
"Hmm, you seem to have tied up," said Mandy.
"That's right," said Luz. "Now we have a prisoner too. Which means your team will have to let Nate go in order to get you back."
"Are you sure they're even gonna to want her?" asked Kim.
"…damn it," said Luz.
"You've also got another problem if you don't let me go," said Mandy. "You see, if I'm not back in the next minute, the others are coming for you, on the assumption that you're trying to hold me hostage."
"…so I was right?" asked Luz, giving a smirk to Kim.
"Technically," muttered Kim.
"So, you're gonna want to play this smart," said Mandy. "Time's ticking."
"Okay guys, team meeting," said Danny, gathering the group away from Mandy's earshot. "What's the plan? Keep her, or let her go?"
"I say we keep her," said Star. "Bring 'em on, I was getting bored anyway."
"I'm not sure how smart that is," said Kim. "I mean, do you guys think we can…"
"That minute's up, by the way," called Mandy. "Good luck. Or not. I don't care."
"Okay, who has a plan?" asked Danny.
"Can you guys hold them back for a couple of minutes?" asked Luz. "I have an idea, just try and stall them."
Meanwhile, on the beach…
"You know Steven, you could dig me up," said Nate, watching the water slowly getting closer. "You know, soon."
"Don't worry, I'm not planning to follow Mandy's orders completely," said Steven. "Once the water reaches you, I'm digging you up and putting you in a bubble you can't get out of."
"Gee, that's so much better," said Nate sarcastically.
"As she said, we're in competition," said Steven. "Though, uh, are you really as stuck as you say?"
"Hey, Korra's the one who buried me," said Nate. "The sand's packed pretty tight down here. You might even have trouble digging me up when it's time."
"Really?" asked Steven. "Hmm…maybe I should start digging you up. Just so it's loose enough to get you out in time." Steven got down on his knees and started digging through the sand.
"That's it, keep going," said Nate. "It's definitely getting looser. And…AH HA!" As Nate's arm got loose, he threw a handful of sand into Steven's eyes, blinding him.
"AH! What the…" started Steven, stumbling back. "NATE! I thought we were friends."
"Sorry man, but I've gotta help my team," said Nate, freeing himself from the sand and running from the beach.
"Get. Back. Here," said Steven, blindly summon bubbles to catch Nate, but Nate had already disappeared out of sight. Steven started to flash pink as he tried to clear the sand from his eyes.
Back at the Mess Hall…
"Outta my way," said Buttercup, dodging past Kim and Star. "Got a box to grab."
"Do you ever learn?" asked Danny, suddenly becoming visible in front of her, then letting out another ghostly wail.
"No…you…don't…" said Buttercup, gritting her teeth and forcing herself forward, before tackling Danny.
"Look, ladies, you know I can become whatever alien I want," said Ben. "Just walk away, and…"
"What if I take that watch off you?" asked Kim.
"Feel free to try," said Ben with a shrug.
"…this seems like it might be a trap," said Kim. "But, if I just do…" Kim grabbed Ben's wrist, getting her fingers on the Omnitrix, only for Ben to start glowing, and suddenly he was Four-Arms. "Did I knock a button or something?"
"No, the watch just does that automatically when it thinks I'm in danger," said Four Arms, lifting her up off the ground.
"Well then, I assume you're still a guy," said Kim.
"Yeah, of I course I…" started Four Arms, as Kim delivered a kick…
"Ooh, right in the kiwis," said Chris, watching from out of harm's way as Four Arms fell to the ground, wincing.
"I guess that leaves me to take on you," said Star, facing Korra.
"I guess it does," said Korra. "Unless…is Luz hiding here invisibly?"
"Wouldn't you like to know?" asked Star, pulling out her wand. "NARWHAL BLAST!" A blessing of narwhals flew at Korra, who dived out of the way with ease, before throwing a couple of fireballs at Star.
"HEY! Careful with those," said Chris. "This building's made of wood, you know? Why else would we put a kitchen with plenty of things that can catch fire in it?"
"Just give us the box," said Korra. "It's not that hard."
"How about no?" said Star, dodging a blast of air before returning fire.
"Remember minion: they're planning something with the box," called Mandy from just outside.
"Thanks Mandy," said Korra, a touch of frustration in her voice.
"Minion?" asked Star, shocked. "You're not working with her, are you?"
"I swear, it's a temporary arrangement," said Korra.
"It's a WHAT?!" yelled Luz, suddenly becoming visible and holding a box.
"There it is," said Korra, summoning some rock from under the Mess Hall to trap Star. "Hand it over Luz."
"Korra, you wouldn't…" started Luz, backing up.
"Just do it Luz," said Korra, her eyes glowing white for a moment. "Don't make this harder than it needs to be."
"Korra, don't do this," said Luz, trying to get to the door.
"I said…" started Korra, a large fireball appearing in her hand. "GIVE IT!"
"I won't," said Luz, finally making it out the door.
"Fine," said Korra, throwing the fireball. Luz watched the flaming ball fly towards her, but before she could react…
"NOOO!" yelled Nate, shoving her out of the way and taking the hit himself.
"NATE!" yelled Luz, starting to draw a water fountain glyph to put out the fire on Nate. "What the hell is wrong with you?"
"I…I…" said Korra, shocked at what she'd just done.
"You really are on Mandy's side now, aren't you?" yelled Star, who'd managed to wriggle a hand free of her trap.
"I would never…" started Korra.
"Nicely done, minion," said Mandy, who'd just pushed herself free of her plant bindings. "And now, I have this." Mandy picked up the discarded box, a cocky smirk on her face.
"Really? You're focused on that while Nate's injured?" snapped Luz, implying some ice glyphs to Nate's burns.
"Stop…worrying about…me…" moaned Nate. "Win the…challenge."
"Too late," said Mandy, opening the box and pulling out a piece of paper. "'Guess what? Chicken butt'. Yeah, I didn't expect anything classy from Chris anyway."
"Congratulations Mandy," said Chris. "Now, how about getting the ACTUAL box?"
"What do you mean?" asked Mandy, slightly confused. "I've got it right…wait…you're *beep* kidding me, right?"
"Yeah, there's a reason I'm prioritising Nate's health over saving the box," said Luz. "You see…"
Flashback…
"Can you guys hold them back for a couple of minutes?" asked Luz. "I have an idea, just try and stall them."
"What's the idea?" asked Danny.
"Well…" said Luz, going into the kitchen and grabbing an identical box to what was on the table. "All any of them know about the box is what it looks like, right?"
"Yeah…" said Kim.
"So, let's write something random, put it in the box, and I'll hide the real one," said Luz. "There's no rule saying the box has to stay here, right?"
"Correct," said Chris, watching from the other side of the Mess Hall. "Though that doesn't mean I won't tell them what you did."
"Will you?" asked Danny.
"Maybe," said Chris. "Depends how entertaining I think it will be."
"Okay, Chris is too much of a wild card to rely on," said Luz. "We'll just have to hope he thinks we're anywhere near as cool as we think he is."
"We don't think he's…" started Star, before Kim covered her mouth, realising what Luz was getting at.
"Aww, I love it when people suck up to me," said Chris. "Okay, I'll keep my mouth shut. You've earned it."
"Okay, now for the box…" started Luz.
"Ooh, I have an idea," said Star, running into the kitchen and grabbing a bunch of random food, shoving it into the box. "Now, go find a bear."
"Wait, does the box need to be intact by the end of the challenge?" asked Kim.
"Did I say it had to?" asked Chris.
"He did not," said Danny. "Good luck Luz, we'll handle things here."
Back in the present…
"And now the box is in a bear," said Luz. "Or maybe it's bear poop. I don't know how quick their digestion is. Either way, you probably won't get it."
"…okay, credit where's it's due, that was kind of clever," said Mandy. "You wouldn't be interested in joining m…"
"No chance in hell," said Luz.
"Worth a shot," said Mandy.
"So that means we win, right?" asked Kim.
"Technically, you still need to protect the box for another ten hours," said Chris.
"Are you serious?" asked Danny. "It's bear poop now. No-one going after it."
"I know," said Chris. "But I had this challenge planned to go this long, so we're going to wait it…what's that pink flashing over there?"
"OH *beep*!" yelled Ben, causing everyone to look at him. "Err, I mean…I'll check it out. See if it's anything important. Which it probably isn't." Before anyone could say anything, Ben was running down to the beach.
Down on the beach…
"Damn it…" said Steven, his skin now completely pink and starting to expand. "Can't…let this…happen…here…"
"Steven?" called Ben, who jumped down to the beach. "Jeez Steven, what the hell's going on?"
"Ben?" asked Steven. "Please, you have to leave."
"Steven, what's happening?" asked Ben, getting closer. "You're becoming a…"
"DON'T SAY IT!" yelled Steven, who suddenly grew a bit.
"…okay, just calm down," said Ben. "You know me. I'm your friend. You know I'm not going to hurt you."
"Even if I become a…a…" started Steven.
"Yes, even if you become…whatever this is," said Ben. "Come on man, you know I don't care what you are."
Steven began to shrink back to his normal size. "Thanks man," he said. "I really needed to hear that."
"No problem man," said Ben, wrapping an arm around his shoulder. "Now, let's get back to the others. Let's be glad I'm the only one who saw this." The two left the beach, but didn't notice who was watching from behind a nearby rock.
Confession Cam: Mandy
"What the *beep* was that? And why do I want it?"
Later, at the Elimination Ceremony…
"Okay campers, you know how this…" started Chris.
"Ahem," said Nate.
"I'm getting to that," said Chris. "Anyway, I have nine marshmallows, even though there are…"
"AHEM!" said Nate, more clearly.
"I said I'm getting to that," said Chris, annoyed.
"Well, hurry up," said Nate. "Honestly, there's no point going through the rest of this, given that there's only one conclusion to this."
"Ugh, fine," moaned Chris. "Due to Nate's severe burns SOMEONE gave him…"
"I didn't mean to…" objected Korra, which was met with glares from many of the other contestants.
"…instead of a normal elimination, Nate has chosen to quit," said Chris. "I personally think he's overexaggerating, but…"
"Chris, the Mess Hall is going to smell like aloe for WEEKS with how bad his injuries are," said Chef. "I think we can safely say he's not faking."
"Well, whatever," said Chris, slapping Nate on the back, getting a yelp of pain out of him. "So long Nate."
"See ya guys," said Nate as Chef carefully carried him to the Dock of Shame. "And guys? Kick Korra's butt for me."
"I said I'm…" started Korra.
"Will do," said Luz, glaring at Korra.
"And that's another contestant gone," said Chris. "Who goes next? You'll have to find out next time, on Total. Drama. Island."
Author's note: Hey guys, just want to remind you that there's a poll on my profile to determine what I should write next. Just wanted to mention it so I know what to start researching once I finish one of my current fics.
