Chapter 2: Blank Spaces and Twisted Shadows

The Dark Lord, Murphy, and Zoe stood at the edge of their next destination: a vast, empty void. The terrain stretched endlessly in every direction, blank and featureless, like a canvas awaiting a painter. The absence of color and detail was unsettling, the kind of emptiness that seemed to pull at their very souls.

Murphy frowned, clutching his broken skateboard like a lifeline. "This place gives me the creeps. It's like someone forgot to finish the level."

Zoe adjusted the bandage over her left eye, scanning their surroundings. "Stay close, Murph. We don't know what's lurking in this… nothingness."

As if on cue, two figures emerged from the void. They were unlike anything the trio had encountered before—poorly drawn, surreal caricatures of familiar characters.

One was a short black mouse with a pale orange face, red pants, and a perpetually indifferent shrug. "Hiya, pals! Welcome to my… uh… house? Or whatever." He introduced himself as Mokey.

Beside him stood an anthropomorphic dog with an orange shirt, blue pants, and ears that drooped comically to his shoulders. His crooked grin revealed two prominent teeth. "Gawrsh! Name's Grooby! You folks lost or somethin'?"

Before they could respond, Grooby's gaze settled on Zoe, his grin widening. "Well, ain't you a pretty lady! Mind if I—"

"Not interested," Zoe snapped, cutting him off.

Murphy stifled a laugh. "Smooth, dude."

Their odd introductions were interrupted by a deafening roar. The ground trembled as Mitzi, the mutated squirrel, emerged from the void's horizon. She was unrecognizable—her body grotesquely expanded, limbs twisting and bulging with sinewy, glitching muscle. Phase 4 of her mutation had made her bigger, stronger, and, worst of all, no longer blind.

Mitzi's glowing, malformed eyes locked onto the group, and she charged.

"Run!" the Dark Lord shouted, hurling a barrage of crimson fireballs to slow her down.

Before Mitzi could reach them, a coordinated volley of energy blasts struck her from behind. A group of four mercenaries, clad in futuristic armor, appeared from the void. Their leader, Agent, barked orders to his team: Primal, a sentient caveman drawing and can shapeshift. His base form is a chocolate-brown painted stick figure with a solid head, broad shoulders and hips, and a narrow waist. His body is a bit thicker than that of most other stick figures. His surface is roughly granulated, resembling a pencil drawing. The edges of his body are fuzzy and flicker constantly. He has stubby feet and even blurry hands with fingers, which can be seen up close.

He possesses a second stronger form where he becomes much more muscular, and swirling spirals appear above his back and shoulders. In this form, he runs on all fours like a gorilla.; Hazard, as to be expected from such a description, a pictogram stick figure one would see on various signs. He is tall, with a dark grey body. His solid head is separate from the rest of his body, he has a light gray outline and, unlike the others, noticeably has an actual "body" of sorts and isn't just a flat line. For whatever reason, he has very limited movement and moves on a lower framerate. In certain postures, he is completely flat; and Ballista is a short, pixelated stick figure with a white solid head. He can shapeshift his body to various degrees (such as splitting his head in half to reveal a gun), and he also possesses gigantic teeth, making him one of the only stick figures capable of showing emotions through means other than body language.

Working in unison, the mercenaries subdued Mitzi, encasing her in a high-tech containment pod.

"Looks like you're not the only one who escaped the IP barrier," Agent said, addressing the Dark Lord.

"Who sent you?" the Dark Lord demanded.

"That's classified," Ballista replied. "But trust us, you're not the only one fighting this infection."

As the mercenaries departed with their captive, Mokey and Grooby gestured for the group to follow them. "C'mon, pals. We got a bunker where it's nice and safe… kinda."

Inside the Bunker

The bunker was a haphazard sanctuary cobbled together from salvaged materials. Despite its ramshackle appearance, it was bustling with activity. Mokey and Grooby introduced the survivors:

Skid is an excitable boy obsessed with Spooky Month.

Pump, his equally cheerful best friend.

A mysterious bunny kid, known only as Bunny, hiding in the corner.

Murphy and Zoe froze when they saw Bunny. "No way… it's you!" Murphy exclaimed, recognizing the sewer-dwelling enigma.

Before they could ask questions, the Dark Lord interrupted. "Do you have any resources here? Weapons, medical supplies, anything?"

Grooby shrugged. "Not much, but we make do."

Mokey pointed to a window. "You might wanna see this, though."

Outside, the poorly drawn parody of Donald Duck, Dilan, was being attacked by a mutated infected. This creature resembled Minnie Mouse but was warped and grotesque, with a blue dress, pink bow, and jagged teeth. Mokey identified her as Momi.

The Dark Lord scanned their stats. Momi was in Phase 2 of the mutation, while Dilan showed an anomaly—he was immune to the ViraBot infection.

"Why isn't he infected?" the Dark Lord asked.

"Beats me," Mokey said, shrugging. "He's just lucky, I guess."

Skid's Request

As the group planned their next move, Skid approached the Dark Lord with wide, pleading eyes. "Can you help me find my mom?"

Pump chimed in, bouncing excitedly. "Yeah! We need an adult!"

The Dark Lord gestured toward Zoe. "She's your adult. Zoe, take them."

Zoe groaned, rolling her eyes. "Fine. But you two better behave."

The trio left the bunker and returned quickly, their faces pale with fear.

"She's infected," Skid whispered, tears streaming down his face.

The ViraBot Ambush

Before anyone could process the news, the bunker shook violently. The walls cracked as ViraBots and mutated amalgamations poured in—twisted versions of familiar characters, including Dilan's nephews, Happy Fella, Kevin, and others from Sr Pelo's videos. Behind them loomed a colossal, grotesque amalgamation: an infected version of Sr Pelo himself.

"We're surrounded!" Zoe yelled, gripping her weapon tightly.

As the survivors prepared to fight, a booming voice echoed through the chaos. "I'll take care of this."

From the shadows emerged Bob Velseb, a sinister figure radiating an aura of malevolence.

"Leave," Bob commanded. "I'll destroy this blank space and everything in it."

The Dark Lord hesitated, but Bob's expression was resolute. "Go. You have a bigger fight ahead."

The mercenaries' spaceship, a sleek vessel with advanced technology, appeared overhead. The survivors scrambled aboard, their eyes fixed on Bob as he faced the infected hordes alone.

As the ship ascended, the blank space below erupted in flames. Bob's maniacal laughter echoed through the void as he unleashed his destructive power, sacrificing himself to annihilate the infected.

A Plan in Motion

As the spaceship soared through the multiverse, the Dark Lord stared out the window, deep in thought. "This infection is spreading faster than I anticipated. If we're going to stop it, we need to strike at its source."

Murphy, Zoe, Mokey, Grooby, Skid, Pump, and Bunny gathered around him, their expressions a mix of determination and fear.

"What's the plan?" Zoe asked.

The Dark Lord's eyes glowed with resolve. "We find the origin of the ViraBots. And we destroy it—no matter the cost."
