Six months had passed since Bell, Alice, and Aki arrived in Alsace, their lives shifting from the quiet stability of town life to the dangers of adventuring. Tigre and Titta had guided them through the early days, introducing them to smaller quests that kept the town safe and helping them navigate Alsace itself.

Now, they stood at the edge of the forest surrounding the city. Monsters that once appeared sporadically were growing in both number and boldness. Reports of attacks had escalated, culminating in a survivor's account of an ambushed party. He claimed a pack of hellhounds had annihilated his group and was carving out new territory, driving other monsters closer to the town.

Lord Urs had summoned every able-bodied fighter and placed a large bounty on the hellhounds. This was no mere quest; it was a decisive hunt meant to reclaim control of the forest.

"Do you think this will be it? Our first feat?" Bell asked, his voice low.

Alice adjusted the sword at her side, her hand steady on the hilt. "It's possible. But we'll need to stay sharp."

Bell nodded. The forest was nothing like the open plains or villages they had traveled through. It was dense, the canopy above blocking most light.

"Lord Urs is sending everything into this," Aki said. "There's no way we don't find a feat here."

The group had traveled for hours to the base camp at the forest's edge. Tents dotted the clearing, soldiers moved between them, and the air hummed with the sound of blades being sharpened and orders being given. The damp earth and metallic scent of weapons made the urgency of the hunt unmistakable.

"I can't believe it's finally happening," Alice said, tightening her armor straps.

"We've handled worse," Bell said,

"That's why we're here," Tigre said, stepping into the conversation. His bow rested over his shoulder, his expression calm. "I grew up around here. Titta, Bertrand, and I used to explore these woods all the time."

Not everyone had joined the hunt. Alfia, despite volunteering, had been asked to stay back at Lord Urs's request. Her skill was unquestionable, but her presence could complicate matters.

Monsters wary of overwhelming power, might flee deeper into the forest if they sensed her. Or they could flee in the direction of another village. Instead, she stayed behind to guard the camp and watch for any threats beyond what the assembled could handle.

The group was assigned Bertrand as their supervisor. A Level 2 veteran and one of Alsace's strongest fighters, Bertrand was known for his sharp instincts and experience. His movements were deliberate, his commands concise. Lord Urs was was only person in Alsace who was high level than Bertrand at Level 3.

"Keep your focus," Bertrand said as he approached. His gaze swept over the group. "If I tell you to fall back, you fall back. No arguments."

"Understood," Bell said, straightening.

Bertrand nodded as he spoke "Hesitation out here gets people killed. Watch each other's backs. This forest doesn't care how ready you think you are."

The weight of his words hung in the air. This was no ordinary outing. As they moved deeper into the forest, the camp's noise faded behind them. The woods loomed ahead, dark and unyielding. Bell tightened his grip on his sword, his heart steady but pounding. This was the beginning of something far greater—and far more dangerous—than anything they had faced before. This was their first adventure.

"Good. We'll move in a tight formation, stay alert. Remember, these monsters are different. They seem to smarter than what we've faced before. The last scout that made it back said they were ambushed. They also know these woods better than we do." Bertrand instructed

As the group entered the forest, the air grew heavier, the trees crowding in around them, cutting off most of the sunlight. The path ahead was barely visible, marked only by weathered stones, but there was an unsettling feeling in the air, as if something unseen was watching them. The leaves rustled above, but it was hard to tell if it was the wind or something else.

Tigre's grip tightened on his bow as he led the group through the dense underbrush. Thin rays of light filtered through the trees, casting a greenish hue over everything.

"Stay sharp," he muttered, glancing back at the others with a wary expression. Bell, Aki, and Alice all nodded in response, their eyes scanning the surrounding area for any signs of danger.

As they pressed forward, Bell could feel his senses heightening. Every rustle of leaves or snap of a twig made him tense. His hand hovered over the hilt of his sword, ready to draw it at a moment's notice.

Suddenly, a loud crack shattered the stillness. Bertrand, who was leading the group from behind, swiftly raised his hand to signal them to stop.

Their heartbeats thundered in their ears as their eyes darted towards the source of the noise. A moment later, a low growl echoed through the air, sending shivers down their spines. The monsters were near.

"Get ready," Bertrand said calmly, unsheathing his sword.

In an instant, the creatures emerged from the shadows with alarming speed. Goblins with twisted features and dirty clothes. Orcs towering over them, wielding crude weapons. And hell hounds with glowing red eyes.

Without hesitation, Tigre let loose an arrow that took down one of the approaching goblins before it could even reach them.

Alice was already engaged in battle, her sword moving in swift and practiced motions as she cut through goblins with ease.

Bell and Aki weren't far behind, fighting side by side as they struck down one monster after another.

With each strike, another monster crumpled to the ground. Bertrand's sword sliced through flesh and bone with practiced ease, his eyes locked on his opponent as he maneuvered around the battlefield.

Bell felt his adrenaline pumping as he dodged and weaved through the monsters. Bell took down any enemy that came within reach. Alice's fierce battle cry echoed in his ears, spurred him on as they fought side by side. Aki's normally calm demeanor was replaced with a fierce determination, her rapier rapidly cutting through the creatures that stood before her.

Together, they moved like a well-oiled machine, anticipating each other's moves and working together seamlessly. The monsters were no match for their coordinated attacks, slowly but surely driving them back.

"Push forward!" Bertrand bellowed over the sounds of battle. "Don't give them a chance to regroup!"

With each victory, their confidence grew and their enemies diminished.

Skirmish Two:

For days, the group had been fighting their way deeper into the forest. They moved slowly, clearing out the edges before pushing towards the center.

The crunch of twigs and leaves underfoot filled the air, accompanied by growls and howls in the distance. The monsters were gathering in larger groups now.

A blood-curdling howl pierced through the quiet, sending a shiver down Bell's spine.

Closer, a deep growl rumbled from behind the trees.

Bell's heart raced as he gripped his dagger tighter. He was used to these sounds, but this time it felt different. A pack of monstrous wolves appeared from the thicket, their eyes glowing with hunger as they charged at the group. And behind them, heavy footsteps of orcs and high-pitched cries of goblins created a menacing symphony.

"Tigre, take it out!" Bell shouted urgently. He didn't wait for a response before dashing forward as an orc barreled towards him.

"Stay together!" Bertrand commanded in a low voice, standing firm with his hand resting on his sword hilt as he observed the monsters. He knew when to act and was waiting for the right moment.

Without hesitation, Bell leapt at the orc with his sword raised, aiming for any opening he could find. The creature was massive and its greenish skin looked thick and calloused. But Bell was ready. With a quick slash, he targeted its exposed side and narrowly dodged its crude club.

"I got it, Bell!" Tigre's steady voice called out as he notched an arrow and focused on one of the charging wolves. In a blink, three arrows flew in quick succession.

Zing, zing, zing. Each arrow hit its mark, piercing through the eye of a wolf before they collapsed into ash. The forest fell silent except for rustling leaves.

"YAH!" Alice's shout echoed as she lunged at a goblin emerging from the shadows. Her sword sliced through the air and caught the creature off guard, causing it to screech as it crumpled beneath her strike.

"HAR!" Aki's rapier flashed as she swiftly took down a goblin attempting to flank them. The creature didn't even have time to react before bursting into ash.

The fight was chaotic but the trio moved with ease and coordination. Their attacks were swift and calculated, bringing them closer to their goal.

Meanwhile, Bertrand stayed on the edge of the battle, his gaze fixed on the dense woods. He knew that the real threat wasn't the monsters in front of them, but what lay hidden beyond the trees. The creatures they faced now were only a small part of the danger.

"Stay sharp!" he called out, scanning the shadows. "This isn't over."

Bell wiped sweat from his brow, his breath heavy with adrenaline. He could sense that there were more monsters lurking in the woods.

"Bell!" Alice's voice broke through his thoughts as she cleaned her sword, still energized from the fight. "Are you okay?"

He grinned and wiped blood from his sword. "I'm fine. Just getting started."

Aki nodded, her eyes narrowed as she scanned for any remaining threats. She said little but her movements showed that she was ready.

Together, they prepared for what came next. The forest was thick with danger but they were ready for it. This was their world now – a world where every step brought new challenges. It wasn't easy, but they were learning to adapt and survive.

Skirmish three:

The forest was unnervingly quiet as the group moved cautiously through the dense underbrush. The scent of pine needles and damp earth hung heavily in the air, but there was a sharpness to it, like the lingering presence of something unnatural.

Aki's ears twitched back and forth as she scanned their surroundings, her sharp eyes alert for any signs of danger. "Something doesn't feel right," she muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.

Alice nodded, her grip tightening on her sword. Her gaze darted from tree to tree, every shadow holding the potential for an attack.

Suddenly, a deep growl shattered the silence, sending chills down their spines. They froze as a massive hellhound burst from the underbrush, its fur dark and matted with the stench of sulfur. Its red eyes glowed with malicious intent, and its powerful jaws were lined with razor-sharp teeth.

But they were not alone. From behind them came a symphony of howls and crashing movement as a pack of nearly a dozen hellhounds emerged from the shadows. Their glowing eyes bore into the trio, hunger evident in their stature.

Bell's heart raced as adrenaline coursed through his veins. Every instinct screamed for them to turn back, but they had volunteered for this hunt and they would see it through.

"Stay focused," Bertrand's voice broke through the tension, calm and controlled, as he gripped his sword tightly. Bell's heart raced as he surveyed the pack of hellhounds in front of them. Two larger beasts stood at the forefront, their glowing eyes fixated on the group.

"Take out one alpha," Bertrand said, his voice unwavering. "I'll handle the other and the smaller ones."

Bell's gaze locked onto the male alpha, its muscles tense and ready to attack. The smaller hounds may have been deadly, but they were no match for these massive beasts.

Without hesitation, Bell stepped forward with his sword drawn, Alice by his side. Aki readied her rapier, while Tigre readied his bow as he trained his eyeson the pack.

The male alpha lunged towards Bell with alarming speed, but he managed to dodge and roll away. As he regained his footing, he saw an opportunity to strike. But before he could move, a smaller hound pounced at him from the side. Alice swiftly intervened, her sword slicing through its chest before it disintegrated into ash.

With a shout, Bell closed the distance between himself and the distracted alpha. His sword struck but was absorbed by its thick fur. The hellhound snarled and shook its head violently, knocking Bell off balance.

"Bell!" Alice cried.

But Bell quickly regained his footing and prepared for the next attack. This time, he was ready. He dodged under the alpha's strike and felt its hot breath on his skin.

The fire in his chest burned hotter than ever as he tightened his grip on his sword. He had faced monsters before, but this was different. This was his test, and he wasn't going to back down.

The alpha howled again, shaking the trees around them. But Bell stood tall, determined to come out victorious in this battle that had only just begun.

Focus. The two alphas are our priority. Take them down. The rest of the pack is easy pickings."

As the battle raged on, Bertrand's commanding voice cut through the chaos, directing the inexperienced adventurers to focus on taking down the alpha creatures first. He drew his sword with a practiced ease, his years of experience evident in each calculated movement.

Bell nodded, his gaze fixed on the larger, more powerful alpha male. The beast crouched low, its muscles tensed and ready to attack. Alice stood beside Bell, her grip tight on her own sword, while Aki remained poised and silent, her dagger at the ready.

"We can do this," Bell said confidently, though he felt the weight of responsibility heavy upon him. This was their test to prove themselves as capable warriors.

The alpha male lunged suddenly, catching Bell off guard with its lightning-fast speed. Barely managing to avoid its snapping jaws, Bell quickly rolled away and sprang back to his feet, rushing forward with his dagger raised high.

But before he could strike, the even larger and more menacing alpha female turned her attention to Alice and Aki. With glowing red eyes fixed on Alice, she let out a savage growl and charged towards them.

The alpha female lunged at Alice, who stepped aside just in time to swing her sword, but it only glanced off the creature's thick fur. With a violent swipe, the hellhound batted Alice aside, sending her crashing into the underbrush.

"Alice!" Bell shouted again, his heart racing. But his attention was forced away when the alpha female's gaze turned back to Alice, its jaws parting, teeth gleaming as it prepared to lunge at her

"Keep your eyes on me, Beastie," Bertrand bellowed as he charged towards the alpha female. His sword grazed her side, drawing first blood as she snarled and swiped back at him with her razor-sharp claws. But Bertrand was already on the move, his sword flashing in quick and calculated parries.

His movements were swift and precise, causing the hellhound to screech in pain and recoil. But Bertrand didn't let up; he struck again, leaving a deep gash along her shoulder.

"Stay back, Alice! I'll handle this one and the others. Just focus on the male," Bertrand commanded.

Shaken but determined, Alice scrambled to her feet and took a few steps back, wincing as she held onto her wounded arm.

Bell rushed to Alice's side, helping her up and asking with concern etched on his face, "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," Alice replied bravely before shaking off the impact of the attack.

The air was thick with tension as the pack of monstrous wolves continued to circle their prey. In the center stood a massive alpha male, its fur matted with blood and its eyes gleaming with malice as it stalked towards its chosen target - Bell. Its muscles rippled beneath its scarred hide with each calculated step forward.

Bell's breath caught in his throat as he locked eyes with the beast. Time seemed to slow, the sounds of battle fading to a dull roar in his ears. He could see every detail of the alpha's approach - the yellowed fangs bared in a snarl, the twitch of its ear as it prepared to strike.

In a blur of motion, the alpha lunged. Its powerful haunches propelled it through the air, jaws open wide and aiming straight for Bell's exposed throat. Bell's instincts, honed by months of brutal training, took over. He pivoted at the last possible second, bringing his sword up in a gleaming arc.

The blade bit deep into the alpha's side, drawing a howl of pain and rage from the beast. But the wolf's momentum carried it past Bell, its claws raking across his shoulder as it tumbled to the ground.

Nearby, Aki and Alice moved, their weapons flashing in the light as they fended off the smaller hellhounds trying to flank Bell. Aki's rapier became a blur found vulnerable spots with, while Alice's sword became a whirlwind of steel, keeping the pack at bay.

From his vantage point in the back, Tigre's bow fired arrow after arrow. Each shot carefully placed to thin the horde or distract a beast at a crucial moment. His eyes scanned the battlefield, anticipating threats and providing vital support to his comrades below.

The alpha male struggled to its feet, blood matting its fur where Bell's sword had struck. Its eyes, now filled with a mixture of pain and fury, locked onto Bell once more. The battle was far from over, and the young adventurer knew the real test was only just beginning.

As the children bravely fought against the relentless hellhounds, their breaths quick and shallow, the tension in the air thickened. Despite their coordinated efforts and training, they were starting to show signs of exhaustion and strain. Bell, Alice, Aki, and Tigre moved together, each strike calculated as they faced off against the alpha male and female.

Bell was the first to make a move, lunging towards the alpha male with his sword raised high. The beast staggered back from his attack but quickly recovered with fury burning in its eyes. It howled once more, its muscles tense and ready for another strike. Bell braced himself for impact, knowing that there was no time to catch his breath or retreat. They had to keep fighting or risk being overwhelmed by the pack.

"Stay focused!" Bertrand's voice cut through the chaos of battle as he continued to clash with the alpha female. Though he showed signs of fatigue, Bertrand remained calm and steady, his sword moving with precision.

Bell met the alpha male's charge head-on, dodging its snapping jaws before slicing at its exposed flank. The creature's fur parted under Bell's dagger, but it was only a shallow wound. The hellhound snarled in response, its eyes blazing with renewed rage as it swung its massive head towards Bell's throat.

"Aki, now!" Bell shouted.

Aki wasted no time, darting towards the alpha male with her dagger drawn. She put all her strength into striking its hind leg, causing the beast to howl in pain but remain standing. Its attention shifted to Aki, an ominous growl escaping from its jaws.

"Be careful!" Alice warned as she noticed the change in focus. But Aki didn't back down; she ducked under the snapping jaws and thrust her rapier into its leg.

The alpha male let out another deafening howl, filled with anger and desperation. It tried to attack Aki, but Bell was there, his sword finding its mark in the beast's side. The hellhound stumbled back, momentarily dazed by the blow.

Amidst the chaos, Tigre's voice rang out. "Look out, on your left!" Bell quickly turned and saw a smaller hellhound charging towards him. Before he could react, Tigre had already drawn his bow and released an arrow, hitting the hellhound in the chest and reducing it to ash.

"Thanks, Tigre!" Bell yelled in gratitude.

"No problem!" Tigre replied, already preparing another arrow.

The alpha male was still standing, but it was slowing down. Its leg wound was taking a toll, causing its movements to become more labored. Bell's spirits lifted at the sight; they might actually be able to defeat this beast. They could take it down.

However, the hellhound made another lunge towards them. Bell was ready and he quickly darted forward with his dagger aimed at its throat. But at the last second, the alpha male twisted its body in an almost impossible manner, narrowly missing Bell's face as it snapped its jaws shut.

The battle continued on, with both sides showing signs of fatigue. The alpha male, despite its injury, was still a formidable opponent. It was clear that this fight was far from over.

"Stay focused! Don't give up!" Bertrand's voice cut through the chaos, urging them to keep fighting.

Meanwhile, Bertrand himself was engaged in a fierce duel with the alpha female, their weapons clashing with brutal force. Each strike had to be precise and any mistake could be fatal. The ground shook with the hellhound's every move, but Bertrand remained steady in his attacks, determined to take down the alpha.

As for Bell and the others, they couldn't afford to watch Bertrand's fight. Aki moved swiftly amongst the smaller hellhounds, her rapier a blur as she struck their weak spots. Alice stood her ground with her sword in hand.

Despite being wounded and staggering, the alpha male made one last desperate charge towards them. Bell reacted quickly and dodged its attack before driving his dagger deep into the creature's defenses. With a final howl, the hellhound collapsed and turned to ash.

Before they could even celebrate their victory, the tide of battle shifted once again. Without their alphas, the remaining hellhounds hesitated and became disoriented. They were still dangerous, but their resolve was fractured.

"Remain on guard!" Bertrand barked, deflecting the alpha female's next attack with his sword. The sound of metal clashing echoed throughout the area.

Meanwhile, Tigre remained calm and focused amidst the chaos. "I'll cover you!"

With the alpha male defeated, the children turned their attention to the remaining hellhounds. Together, they fought as a team and with each swing of their swords and release of an arrow, another hellhound fell.

Bertrand stood face to face with the massive alpha female, her eyes glowing with an intelligence that belied her primal instincts. Her fur bristled, and the ground trembled beneath her as she prepared to attack.

He remained calm but alert, one hand resting on his sword's hilt while his fingers twitched in anticipation. His gaze never wavered from the creature, analyzing each move with the precision of a seasoned fighter. This battle would not be easy; the hellhound was faster and stronger than any adversary he had faced before. He felt the weight of the challenge upon him, but he was ready to give it everything he had.

The alpha growled, a deep rumble that filled the air, before launching herself at Bertrand. Her jaws snapped, aiming for his throat in a blur of teeth and ferocity. However, Bertrand's sword flashed out just in time, deflecting her attack. The impact caused his arms to jar, but he quickly stepped back to create some distance between them.

"Stay focused," he muttered under his breath, his heart steady despite the rush of adrenaline.

But the alpha was relentless. She pounded the earth with her massive paws and followed up with a swipe of razor-sharp claws. Bertrand twisted aside, feeling the wind from her attack graze his cheek as he narrowly avoided being struck. With agility and speed, he rolled forward and brought his sword to bear.

Yet she was always one step ahead. The hellhound twisted and lunged once more, her sharp teeth missing Bertrand by mere inches. Her incredible speed overwhelmed him, and he could feel the heat of her breath as she lunged again.

"Damn it," Bertrand grunted as he dodged once more.

Mud churned under their feet and the ground cracked beneath her claws. Sweat dripped from his forehead as he dodged every attack with precision. This wasn't just about survival anymore, it was about protecting the children and ensuring their safety.

The alpha hellhound lunged again, aiming low this time. Its claws dug deep into the earth, sending dirt flying. Bertrand twisted and ducked to avoid the strike, but the hellhound was already spinning around for a brutal kick. It connected with his chest, knocking him down into the muddy ground and causing his sword to slide out of reach.

For a moment, everything spun for Bertrand. He tasted blood in his mouth and felt intense pain in his ribs. The alpha female nearby him, growling deeply, as she prepared to pounce.

Bertrand forced himself onto his knees, blood dripping from his mouth as he reached for a dagger at his waist. His fingers closed around the hilt, trembling with exertion. Though his vision blurred, he shook his head determinedly to clear it.

With a shout, he charged forward, ignoring the pain in his side and holding his sword tight. The alpha female opened her jaws to deliver the final blow, but Bertrand was faster. With all of his strength behind it, he thrust his sword upward and caught her under the jaw. The blade cut deep into her throat.

The hellhound's eyes widened in shock before her growl turned into a gurgled choke. Blood spilled from the wound, splattering onto the ground as her massive body trembled in its last moments of life.

For a brief moment, everything was still. Then the female hellhound's limbs gave out and she collapsed to the ground with a thud, turning to ash as she fell.

Bertrand staggered back, gasping for breath. His legs felt weak and he could feel the world spinning around him. His sword slipped from his hand as he struggled to stay upright, still shaking from the intensity of the battle.

But it was a hard-won victory. The ground was covered in piles of ash from the fallen hellhounds and the air was thick with the smell of sulfur and blood. He could hear the children's voices behind him, shouting with relief, but he didn't have the strength to turn towards them just yet.

He took deep, ragged breaths. The pain from the hellhound's claws was starting to set in. The gash on his chest burned and his ribs throbbed, but he had held his ground. He had fought and won.

"Bertrand!" Alice's voice called out to him. He looked up to see her running towards him, her face a mix of worry and awe. She stopped a few feet away, taking in the sight of the dead alpha hellhound's body. "You're hurt!"

"I'm fine," Bertrand replied hoarsely, turning slightly towards the children and giving them a small nod. "You all did well."

Even as he spoke, he knew that the battle wasn't truly over. The forest still felt heavy with the presence of other hellhounds. This hunt was far from finished. But for now, they had emerged victorious. And though he couldn't relax just yet, Bertrand allowed himself a moment to savor their triumph.
