Chapter 69.

Magnolia's mind was still with Draco as she clung on to her brother's waist and squeezed her eyes shut. She could barely remember how she had gotten from running through the halls of Hogwarts away from Umbridge's office, to riding a Thestral on the way to the Ministry of Magic. There had been lots of arguing between her brother, Ginny, Neville, and Luna about the latter three coming, but they wouldn't back down. As much as Magnolia didn't want them involved or getting hurt, she was glad to have some extra back up for when she would inevitably need to control Harry.

Magnolia refused to open her eyes as the wind rushed past them, until she felt the Thestral dip, causing her and Harry to slide forward nearer the Thestrals neck. Her arms tightened around her brother's waist, her heart hammering as she whimpered.

"Maggie…" Harry whispered as the Thestral came to a soft stop, "Maggie, we're here."

Magnolia felt her brother slip off the Thestral, and cautiously opened her eyes to look at him. His hair was even messier then usual, she imagined she looked just as bad. Magnolia let her brother grasp her waist and help as she climbed off the Thestral, joining the others a few feet away. Everyone looked around at the London road, trying to find the entrance of the Ministry of Magic. Magnolia noticed the battered old telephone box just moments before her twin dragged her towards it. The seven of them squeezed into the small box together, Magnolia pressed between the glass and Ron.

"Whoever is closest to the receiver, dial six two four four two." Harry grumbled.

"Welcome to the Ministry of Magic." A woman's voice sounded from the phone, "Please state your name and business."

"Harry Potter, Magnolia Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Luna Lovegood, Ginny Weasley and Luna Lovegood… erm… we're here to save somebody, unless your Ministry can do it first!"

Magnolia shifted as they waited for something to happen, the arm she had pressed behind her started tingling at the awkward angle she was stood in.

"Thank you." The voice replied, "Visitors, please take your name badges and attach them to the front of your robes."

Hermione grabbed the badges that fell into the chute where returned coins usually would fall into and passed them around to the correct people. Magnolia looked down at hers, with a small smirk, 'Magnolia Potter, Rescue Mission'.

"Visitors to the Ministry, you are required to submit to a search and present your wands for registration at the security desk, located at the far end of the Atrium."

"Fine!" Harry shouted, "Now, can we move!?"

Magnolia glanced to her twin as the telephone box began to sink beneath the pavement, his eyes were pinched, she could tell that his scar was hurting him. That knowledge alone made her heart speed up; if his scar was hurting, then maybe he was right, and Lord Voldemort did have Sirius. Briefly, she began to regret holding Harry up so much from flying to the Ministry.

"The Ministry of Magic wishes you a pleasant evening."

The telephone box dinged to a stop as the cool voice spoke, the doors opening. Magnolia was glad when she stepped out of the cramped box, stretching her shoulders, and taking a deep breath. She grabbed hold of her brother's hand, flicking her eyes to his scar with a silent question on her face. He squeezed her hand with a small grimace; letting her know just how badly the scar inflicted by Lord Voldemort was throbbing. Around them, the others were stood awkwardly.

"Where to, Harry?" Ron asked.

"This way."

The twins stepped into a run, both moving at the same pace as the others followed them. Harry led them all to the elevators, stepping in and pressing the button that would take them to the Department of Mysteries. The ride was quick, and before Magnolia knew it Harry was leading her towards a black door, his grip on her hand tensing as they walked towards it.

"Ok, listen…" Harry voice was breathy as he spoke, betraying his fear, "Maybe… Maybe a few of you should stay here… stand guard-"

"And how would we tell you if something was happening? You could be miles away." Ginny interrupted.

"We're coming with you."

Magnolia looked at Neville, really taking the boy who was once scared of his own shadow in. He was no longer that scared boy. He was stood tall in front of her twin, his four words showed just how strong he had become. Magnolia couldn't help but grin at him, she hoped they got through this so she could tell him how proud she was of him.

"Let's get on with it." Ron said firmly.

"Maggie…" Harry sighed.

"Don't be silly, Harry." Magnolia replied.

She turned to face him, pulling his other hand into hers as well, as they gazed into each other's eyes. She squeezed his hands, searching through her memories for the one that would make him realise that there was no way she would let him go alone.

"Do you remember… when we were seven… the Dursley's had been out for some dinner celebrating some minor thing that Dudley had done… we had been left at the house alone… I hadn't been well, and you decided that I needed to get a decent sleep."

Harry smiled slightly, stepping closer his sister bowing his head, "I made you sleep in Dudley's bed, but I had fallen asleep too, because you wouldn't sleep without me next to you. And when the Dursley's got home, they found us and were furious."

"You tried to take the blame. You tried to take the full blame, and the full consequence."

"You wouldn't let me. You stood beside me, held my hand, and said…"

"We do this together. We always stand together."

Harry kept his eyes on Magnolia for a second, thick with tension, before sighing and turning to face the door, dropping one of Magnolia's hands and keeping other clenched in his. He nodded, as if to gear himself up, and opened the black door in front of them.

Magnolia looked around the circular room they stepped in to as the others followed them. Everything was black, including the multiple other doors there were around the room. She cringed when Harry told Neville to shut the door, plunging them all into almost complete darkness, and even more when the circular wall of the room began to rotate around them.

"Harry, how-"

The wall came to an abrupt stop, just as quickly as it had started, leaving the group perplexed as to which door they had come in through. Magnolia's stomach sunk, if they didn't know how to get out, how would they find out the correct door to find where they needed to be?

"I guess… we try one by one."

Magnolia huffed, thinking that there must be a better way, but the doors were all identical. Instead, she found herself following Harry through the doors one at a time. She grimaced as they walked into a room with brains swimming leisurely within a giant tank, breathing a quiet sigh of relief when they walked back into the dark circular room. The next door they tried was less disgusting, but more confusing. In the centre of the room stood a stone archway with what looked like a black curtain draped over it, fluttering gently in the still room. The third door refused to open, and after it had melted the blade Sirius had given Harry for Christmas, they all agreed to move on to a different door.

"This is it!"

Magnolia's heart leapt at Harry's cry. They had found the right door. Now would come the hardest part. She followed her twin brother through the door, flanked by the rest of the group, with purpose. Clocks of all shapes and sizes filled every surface in the bright room, Magnolia's eyes strained from the light difference after the black room. They hurried through, before Harry paused in front of another door, looking back at his sister.

Magnolia's breath was ragged, coming out in pants as she realised that behind this door could stand their Godfather and Lord Voldemort. She didn't want her brother near him; The Dark Lord would never let him go. Or there could be nothing. This could all have been a terrible nightmare that Harry's brain had created.

The door swung open with ease, letting the group tentatively step through. Magnolia shushed her brother when he went to speak, silently telling him to think before speaking too loudly and alerting anyone else in that room that they were there. The room was vast, with ceilings so high that Magnolia could barely see the top of them. Rows of shelves filled the room, each covered in small orbs that shone at different strengths.

"You said it was row ninety-seven." Hermione whispered, urging the group on as the paused by the door.

"Yeah." Harry murmured back, checking the row numbers.

"We need to go right, I think." Hermione spoke just as quietly, "Yes, that's fifty-four."

"Keep your wands out."

Magnolia closely followed her twin with Hermione next to her, Luna and Ginny behind them, and Ron and Neville flanking them. She glanced at the orbs on the shelves as they passed, they each had labels under them, all in different states of disrepair. Some looked like they had been there for years, others were brighter and bolder.

"Ninety-seven." Hermione whispered.

Magnolia looked around, there was no sign of anyone. She was both relieved and, upsettingly, disappointed.

"He was down the end… you wouldn't be able to see him from here." Harry mumbled, turning to run down the aisle between shelves.

Their footsteps seemed to echo off the glass orbs as the group ran down aisle, Magnolia's heart shuddering against her chest. She didn't want to see Sirius at the end, she didn't want to see him being tortured. She hoped more then anything that this had all been a wild goose chase that she would have to try to explain away to Draco when they went back to Hogwarts unharmed.

"He… He should be… He was…" Harry mumbled, frantically turning to look all ways around them, "Maybe he's… Or he could be…"

"Harry-" Hermione tried to interject.

"He was right here…"

"Harry." Magnolia spoke, her voice stronger than Hermione's.

"What!?"

"Sirius isn't here."

Magnolia sighed as her brother turned away from them, running up and down aisles surrounding them. She put up her hand to stop Ron and Hermione following him, shaking her head when they tried to say anything. He needed this; Harry needed to search everywhere to make sure that Sirius was never there and that it had all been a terrible dream.

"Mate- Harry!" Ron hollered as Harry slowed near them.

"Ron, let him be for a moment." Magnolia murmured.

"No, listen," Ron snapped back, "Look! It has your names on it."

Magnolia's forehead furrowed at Ron's words, moving quickly to stand next to him and look at what he was pointing at. She felt Harry stop next to her, both of them frozen in place as they read the label beneath one of the glowing orbs. It was dated just a few months before the twin's birthday, and read:

S.P.T to A.P.W.B.D

Dark Lord

And (?) Harry and Magnolia Potter

"Why are your names there?" Ron asked, "None of our names are there."

Magnolia snatched her hand out as Harry reached his towards the orb, slapping her twin's hand away. He looked at her perplexed, rubbing his hand slightly.

"Harry, I don't think that's a good idea." Hermione told him.

"Why?" Harry asked, "It's got my name on it."

"It's got our name on it." Magnolia corrected.

"Well, then we should be able to take it."

"Don't Harry." Neville said, fearfully.

Magnolia gasped, grabbing her brother's hand again as he reached for the orb, "Think this through, Harry. Lord Voldemort has been looking for a weapon- the orb has his name on it too!"

"So, let's take it first."

"No, Harry-"

Before Magnolia could do anything else, Harry had grabbed the orb off the shelf. Nothing happened. Magnolia wasn't sure what she was expecting, but nothing happened as Harry grasped the orb in his hand. Behind her, Magnolia could feel the others stepping closer to her and Harry as he brushed the dust from the orb.

"Very good, Potter. Now turn around, nice and slowly, and give that to me."

Around them, dark hooded figures emerged from the shadows as if from thin air. At least a dozen Death Eaters surrounded the group, blocking their way left or right, their wands directed at each of the students surrounding Magnolia. She wasn't surprised to realise that none of them were trained on her.

"To me, Potter."

Magnolia felt sick as the voice repeated what he had said before. Lucius Malfoy stood before them; his hand outstretched for the orb that Harry held in his hand.

"Where is Sirius?" Harry barked.

Magnolia cringed as the Death Eaters laughed, one particular cackle standing out to Magnolia.

"The Dark Lord always knows." The female voice laughed.

"I want to know where Sirius is!"

"Harry…" Magnolia whispered, placing her hand on his arm.

"The little baby woke up fwightened and fort what it dweamed was twoo." The woman taunted Magnolia's brother.

Magnolia went to stop forward, feeling Ron stepping up next to her too, raising her own wand to the vile woman stood beside Lucius. She saw as Lucius tensed slightly, his eyes flickering between herself and the woman next him behind his mask.

"Don't do anything." Harry ordered, pushing Magnolia back slightly, "Not yet-"

"You hear him? Giving instructions to the other children as though he thinks to fight us!" The woman squealed.

"Oh, you don't know Potter as I do, Bellatrix." Lucius drawled, as Magnolia realised that the woman was Draco's aunt, "He has a great weakness for heroics, the Dark Lord knows this about him. Now, give me the prophecy, Potter."

"Harry, don't." Magnolia murmured to her brother.

Lucius sighed, "Give me the prophecy, or we start using wands."

Magnolia stepped forward, pushing her brother behind her, knowing that she would have to do a lot of explaining to her brother after doing this. Holding her wand forward towards her boyfriend's father, she looked Lucius in the eyes as she had at the Easter Ball.

"Try it."

"Oh, the ickle girl wants a fight." Bellatrix snarled.

Lucius put his arm out, holding it in front of his sister-in-law, "The girl stays safe. The Dark Lord has ordered she not be harmed."

Magnolia smirked at Bellatrix. She could see the older woman twitching under the dark robes they all wore.

"Give me the prophecy, and no one needs be harmed." Lucius spoke, gritting his teeth.

"Yeah right!" Harry sniggered, "I hand this over and you'll just let us skip off home, will you?"

"Enough!" Bellatrix cried, "Accio proph-"

"Protego!"

Magnolia cast her protection spell as quickly as she could, knowing that Bellatrix was going to lose her war with patience at any moment. Bellatrix stepped forward, pulling off her hood as she did. Magnolia could see how crazed she was now; she was a woman on the brink of sanity at best. Behind her, Lucius was tense, realising just as Magnolia was that Lucius was losing control of the woman.

"You need more persuasion?" She snarled, stepping a breath away from Magnolia, "I may not be able to harm you, but the same cannot be said for the little one. Watch, while I torture the girl."

Magnolia spun to see Death Eaters moving closer to Ginny, her breath catching as Harry moved in front of her.

"I'll smash this if you attack any of us. I don't think your boss will be too happy with that, would he?" Harry said, "So, what kind of prophecy are we talking about anyway? How come Voldemort wants it?"

"You dare say his name!?" Bellatrix hissed.

"Oh, Harry, they don't seem to like you saying Voldemort's name." Magnolia jeered, desperately wanting Bellatrix's attention away from her twin, "They don't like you saying Tom Riddle's made-up name."

"How dare you!?" Bellatrix screamed, grabbing Magnolia's hair in her fist and yanking her to the side, "You dare say his name with your unworthy lips, you dare besmirch it with your half-blood's tongue, you dare-"

"Bellatrix!"

"Did you know that he's a half-blood too!?" Harry cried, trying to get Bellatrix's attention back to himself, "Yeah, his mum's a witch, but his dad was a Muggle! Or has he been telling you lot that he's a Pureblood?"

Magnolia laughed, leaning closer to the woman whose fingers scraped against her skull, "Yeah, Bella, guess you don't know the Dark Lord as well as I do… I wonder how he would react if you called him Tom. He does nothing when I do."

"STUPEFY!"

"PROTEGO!"

Lucius' counter curse protected Magnolia from Bellatrix's anger, as he pulled the woman off of her. The curse hit a shelf of orbs, knocking them off the shelves. They smashed as they hit the floor, words jumbling between each other as they did. Harry's hand wrapped around Magnolia's pulling her back close to him as she rubbed at her head. He backed away from the Death Eaters in front of them, stepping on Hermione's toes.

"Tell… tell me why the prophecy is so important." Harry asked, squeezing Magnolia's hand in a silent communication.

Magnolia listened as Lucius taunted Harry, whilst Harry quietly wove a plan with Hermione and herself that was mimicked through the group. She had to squeeze Harry's hand painfully when he threatened to get distracted by Lucius telling them that the prophecy in Harry's hand held the reason as to why Lord Voldemort had been at their nursery that night. Why he had killed their parents and tried to kill Harry.

"So, if only people involved in the prophecy can pick them up… why didn't Voldemort just come and get it himself?" Harry asked, causing Magnolia to groan.

"Get it himself!?" Bellatrix shrieked, "Walk into the Ministry of Magic, when they have been so sweet to ignore his return? Reveal himself to the Aurors, when they waste their time so well looking for my dear cousin?"

"So, he's got you doing his dirty work for him, has he?" Harry sniped, "Like… like he tried to get Sturgis… and Bode…"

Magnolia wasn't sure what Harry was talking about now, all she knew was that their friends were ready, and he was wasting time, becoming distracted. She squeezed his hand hard, yanking him back from her boyfriend's father and aunt.

"Now!" She shouted, "Reducto!"

Her spell was echoed by the other six students near her, causing the shelves around them to explode and orbs to fall all the way from the high ceilings to the lowest shelves they were held on. Magnolia could feel the glass shattering as orbs fell onto the group, cutting into her skin.

"Run!" Harry cried, pushing Magnolia down the aisle they had run up earlier.

Magnolia ran as fast as she could, her brother next to her as the orbs continued to rain down on them. The rest of the group were just ahead of them, turning back the ways they had come not long before. Magnolia, Harry, Neville, and Hermione ran through the door to the circular room, panting and looked around in confusion.

"Where…"

"They were right ahead of us." Hermione gasped.

"Maybe… maybe they went through another door?" Neville questioned.

"Well, we can't stay here!" Magnolia snapped, hearing the Death Eater's voices getting closer to them.

She pulled the others through another door, closing it quickly behind them as the Death Eaters got to the circular room. Magnolia pushed her brother forwards through the room, not looking around to take any notice, just wanting to get as far away as possible from their hunters.

"IMPEDIMENTA!"

Magnolia felt herself fly through the air as the curse hit them. She hit a bookshelf with a loud thud, her head smashing against the hard shelf and her wrist making a sickening snap as she fell to the ground, her wrist landing underneath her.

"We've got him!" The Death Eater shouted, "In an office, off-"

"Silencio!"

Magnolia was still laying on the floor, clutching at her wrist in pain when she heard Hermione's spell. She turned her head, gasping, to watch as the Death Eater sent a hex towards Hermione, causing her to crumple to the floor. Magnolia began to crawl towards her friend, as her brother and Neville got to Hermione first, the Death Eater stood above them. He held his wand in his hand, silently threatening her twin.

"Petrificus Totalus!" Magnolia shouted.

"Maggie… are you?" Harry asked, after the Death Eater fell to the floor.

"I'm fine." Magnolia gasped, "Hermione...?"

"She has a pulse." Neville replied, morose.

"We've got to move." Magnolia spoke through pained gritted teeth.

Magnolia forced herself off the floor, following her brother and Neville who carried Hermione out of the room. She groaned as she realised they were back in the circular room. Black spots were appearing in her vision, placing her unharmed hand to the back of her head, Magnolia felt the wetness she was worried she would find there. Harry put his arm around her waist when a door opened and Ron, Luna and Ginny fell through it. Magnolia leant into her brother as Luna explained where the other three had been, why Ginny was hobbling, and Ron was acting delirious.

"Harry… Harry, you know who this is?" Ron jabbered, poking at Harry's cheek, "Looney… Looney Lovegood… hahahaha. Better then this one though… ohhh, you would've been angry if you'd seen…"

"We can't stay here." Magnolia interrupted as the delirious red head looked at her.

The group agreed without any fight, running- as much as they could- through rooms again. Magnolia stumbled when Harry let go of her to try to stop Ron from touching the brains in one of the rooms they ran through. Magnolia grabbed her brother back when she saw Death Eater's run through the door they had just come through, led by Bellatrix. She pushed her brother through the door in front of them, hoping that the others would find their way but knowing that she had to get Harry away.

As she ran through the door, she realised that they were back in the room with the strange veiled archway- a room with nowhere for them to hide. Magnolia saw her brother run to the middle of the room, near the archway, as Magnolia screamed at him. The Death Eaters they had been running from were appearing now from every crevice of the room, surrounding the twins.

"Give us the prophecy, Potter."

Magnolia could see the indecision on Harry's face, "Let the others go… Let Magnolia and the others go, unharmed, and I'll give it to you."

"Harry! No!"

Across the room, Bellatrix laughed as Lucius spoke, "You are not in a position to bargain, Potter. You see, there are two of you, and ten of us. Did dear old Dumbledore not teach you to count?"

"I think you need to count again."

Magnolia's heart soared as she heard the voice of her Godfather. Turning, she saw not only Sirius, but Remus, Moody, Tonks, and Kingsley were all stood with their wands raised. The Order didn't give the Death Eaters anytime to breath before they began hurling spells across the room at them all. Magnolia took the chance and threw herself towards her brother, who grabbed for her and pulled them to the side of the room, and hopefully out of danger.

"Are you ok?" Harry asked, breathless.

"Better now."

"Your bleeding, and your wrist…"

Magnolia looked down at her throbbing wrist, wincing as she realised how swollen it was underneath the purple bruising that had wrapped itself halfway up her arm. She sighed and looked back at her brother.

"Let's focus on getting out of here. We can look after ourselves once we're safely-"

Before Magnolia could finish, her brother disappeared from her view. She looked up, seeing her brother being held by his neck in the air, his legs kicking the air as he struggled to get away from the huge man holding him and trying to get the prophecy.

"Confringo!" Magnolia cried.

The man screamed as he was blasted away from Harry, who fell to the ground as Sirius ran towards them. He wrapped his arms around Magnolia pulling her off the ground with an exhilarated smile on his face.

"Nice one, Princess." He smiled, kissing the top of her head, "Now the two of you need to go. Take the prophecy and get out of here!"

As the twins ran across the room, attempting to dodge the spells that were being hurled between the Order and the Death Eaters, Magnolia noticed that Sirius had gone straight into a duel with Bellatrix. A red light hit Magnolia and Harry, throwing them apart. Coughing in pain, Magnolia searched the room for where her brother had landed, to see him trapped underneath Lucius Malfoy's foot, as he screamed at Harry for the prophecy.

"Maggie!" Harry yelled, "Catch!"

Magnolia briefly panicked as her twin threw the much sought after orb towards her, and instinctively jumped to catch the orb with both her hands, screaming as her wrist sent a lightening bolt of pain through her entire body.

"Miss Potter, give me the prophecy." Lucius's voice was softer now, "You know it is the right thing to do."

She turned to see Lucius stalking towards her. She stumbled backwards as far as she could go, before hitting the feet of someone else, who immediately grabbed her and pulled her off the floor. Magnolia threw herself around as she tried to get away, screaming as she did so. The Death Eater brought their arm up around her chest, trapping her close to them as Lucius approached. Panicked, Magnolia furiously wriggled until she could bite the arm wrapped around her and threw the prophecy back to her brother.

"Get your grubby hands off my daughter!"

The person holding Magnolia was thrown backwards as Sirius sent a curse their way, before turning back to his duel with Bellatrix. Magnolia took the chance to dodge around Lucius, who was now fighting off Remus, towards her brother. Harry grabbed her arm as she got close, running with her towards the door they had entered the room through. Magnolia felt her legs lock mid stride, tripping her to the floor, and pulling Harry down with her. The twins gasped in horror as the orb fell from Harry's hand as he hit the floor beside her, smashing in front of their very eyes.

Around them, it felt like the room had gone quiet as the twins stared at the space the orb had smashed. It took Magnolia a second to realise the room had gone quiet, all except one duelling couple. Magnolia looked up to see Albus Dumbledore stood in the doorway and hit Harry's arm to force him to look too. She could tell in her brother's face that the relief that had spread through her body, had run through her brothers too at the sight of their true Headmaster.

The twins rolled over to their backs and sat themselves up, leaning against each other slightly as Dumbledore moved through the room, incapacitating the Death Eaters. Magnolia could see Sirius and Bellatrix still fixed in their duel by the archway, sending lights of hexes and curses towards each other. Magnolia was briefly taken by how strangely carefree her Godfather looked. She could see how glad he was to finally be able to help.

"Come on! You can do better than that!" Sirius laughed.

Time slowed down as Magnolia saw Bellatrix smirk, sending a jet of red light towards her Godfather, hitting him squarely in the chest. She didn't hear her own scream, or that of her brother's as Sirius's smile froze on his face, as his eyes widened in shock, and he stepped backwards. Magnolia didn't realise she had stood, just like her brother who was already running towards their Godfather. She didn't understand why she couldn't move after Harry, as arms wrapped themselves around her, holding her in place as Sirius's eyes locked with hers and he fell backwards through the curtained veil behind him.
