CHAPTER II

The chain of 101 uses

-The lowest scorer will be expelled?!- Exclaimed Uraraka.

-It's only the first day! And even if it weren't, this is totally unfair!-

-Unfairrrrrrrrrrrrr- Mike said to himself in a low growl.

He's clearly not content with unfairness, especially when it affects him (well, I mean, only when it affects him; everyone else can go screw off HAHA).

The class was still reeling from Aizawa's announcement, and Uraraka's outburst reflected their shared feelings of shock and shock and outrage.

-If you had taken at least a second to look around, Japan is full of unfair things: Natural disasters... highway pileups... rampaging villains... all of which are unfair, don't you think?- Aizawa responded.

-huh... i guess he does have a point- Said the copy of Mike.

-It is the hero's jobs to correct all of that. If you thought about spending your evenings dining at McDonald's then let me tell you something... for the 3 years you'll be stuck here... UA will run you through the wringer-

The class realized that Aizawa was right about the world being full of unfair situations. Situations beyond their control.

Aizawa's words about the hero course being brutal and intense resonated with them as well.

-THAT is what PLUS ULTRA is all about... use your strength to overcome, and bring fairness once again...-

-So bring it on... No more demonstration... this time... do it for real-

Aizawa's words about Plus Ultra were inspiring and motivating. The class felt riled up and ready to take on the tests.

Mike's mind is stuck on the plus ultra Aizawa mentioned earlier; he didn't hear that last part of Aizawa's speech. The copy of Mike then stated snarly:

-Plus Ultra? That thing that basically makes you invincible and overpowered if you just don't give up? ... where's the strategy? Where are the traps and the quick thinking? What happened to dying in battle, like a true hero would? All of that sounds like a bunch of baloney to me... and what kind of stupid name is that? ... sounds like something a final boss of mathematics would be called... god-

But anyway...

Now it is time for:

Event one:
50-METER DASH

This one consist of a full sprint on a lane 50 meters long, the goal is to clear it in the shortest time possible.
Two students will race against each other, i guess just to save time, cuz if not then i don't understand these Japanese games.
First two to race are:

Iida Tenya - quirk: engine *broom broom motherfucker!*
Tsuyu Asui - quirk: frog *does whatever a bullfrog can (or any frog for that matter)*

Ida finished the lane in 3.04 seconds, while Tsuyu finished it in 5.58.

The next two are:
Ochako Uraraka - quirk: zero gravity *it's in the name*
Mashira Ojiro - quirk: tail *furries would be jealous*

Ochako improved her time in middle school from 7.28 to 7.15 on the test.

Then the next:
Yuga Aoyama - quirk: navel laser *very on the nose imo*
Mina Ashido - quirk: acid *if she ain't careful, she might cause an acid-ent... get it?*

You would think having a laser you can shoot at anytime might be the coolest thing, that is if you can shoot it for more than a second, something a certain someone clearly doesn't know how to do.
In the end, Yuga ended the test in 5.52 seconds. Around 3 seconds less than what he did on middle school.

Aizawa keeps a watchful eye on the abilities of each student; he thinks to himself.

-They're pushing their quirks to the limit-

-By seeing how much they've improved, I can guess what they are capable of and what they aren't. This is ultimately linked to how creative they are with their powers-

Emphasis on the word 'creative' here... it'll make sense once we get to see Mike race.

Of course the next two are:
Katsuki Bakugou - quirk: explosion *they'll have to glue you back together... IN HELL*
Izuku Midoriya - quirk: One For All *the way i see it is: quirk=battery body=lightbulb*

Using his quirk, Bakugou clears the 50 meter dash on 4.13 seconds, one second less than in middle school.
Izuku on the other hand, finishes on 7.02 seconds, barely an improvement from middle school.

Mike closely observed all of the students, analyzing their quirks and their abilities. He was focused on understanding the strengths and limitations of each person's powers, and he kept a close eye on how they used them in each test.

He watched intently, taking notes in his head, and continued to observe the students as the tests progressed.

Aizawa looked at the list; everyone in it had already raced...

But he felt like something was missing; he felt like there was someone here who didn't. Aizawa looked around at the students one more time, and he spotted them.

-him?-

Aizawa looked at the list again; he didn't see anyone in it that looked like Mike. This and the fact that Mike had to go out and get a desk from somewhere else made him very suspicious of him, but he can't delay this test... so he refers to him and asks.

-You! What's your name?-

Everyone turns to see mike who was being a silent ghost to them this entire time, they almost forgot he was even here.

Mike got taken off guard by the sudden question.

-huh?... Mike-

Aizawa is silent, waiting for him to keep saying his name, and gets confused when he only says Mike.

-Just that? No last name or anything?-

-...my full name is Michael Miles... but just call me Mike for short Alright?-

Aizawa took out a pen from his pocket and quickly added Mike's name to the end of the list. Even though he remained skeptical of him, he decided to hold off for now.

-Whatever, go on and take the test-

Mike proceeds to walk up to the race lane, but he doesn't see another student ready to race, so he asks.

-Where's the other one?-

To which Aizawa replies :

-What other? Everyone had already finished, is just you now. Go on and make it snappy-

Indeed, the class is only conformed by 20 students, excluding Mike, so he had none to pair up with.

Mike was going to question why he was picked last, but decided not to press on the matter and get on with it.

Aizawa, standing nearby, called out:

-Start now. You're holding up the rest of the tests, kid-

Mike stared down the lane, putting a hand on his stub, then the copy of Mike began narrating his thoughts again.

-OK, let's think... how could my quirk ever help me finish this thing quickly? Hmmm-

-What is something that can go very fast very quickly? ... a bullet?... I don't even know how guns work; how could I replicate that? Ok then, what's something similar to a gun but less complicated? hmmmmmmmmm... a bow? a slingshot... yeah... yeah! That's perfect; I could easily replicate that-

Aizawa groans in impatience, his gaze fixed on Mike as he stood there contemplating. The rest of the class also grew restless, their eyes glued to Mike as they awaited his move.

Aizawa couldn't help but wonder what was going on in Mike's mind, and he continued to observe him closely, seeking clues about the nature of his quirk and abilities.

Mike took a deep breath and prepared himself to start the race.

-Oh?... he's finally moving- Aizawa thought to himself.

He and the other students watched closely, curious and anxious to see what he would do.

Mike reaches into the inside of his sleeve, and from there, he takes out a chain.

A real chain, made of metal, solid as any other chain.

The students and Aizawa were both puzzled and intrigued by this sight. They couldn't understand how Mike had managed to hide something made of metal from the school's metal detector.

However, they assumed it must be a part of his quirk, and they watched with even more anticipation, wondering how he would use the chain for the test.

Mike does the same with his other sleeve, now holding a chain in each hand.

Then he knelt down and struck the ground with the ends of the chains.

Aizawa was puzzled, thinking how chains could possibly help Mike run faster, but he hasn't seen anything yet.

Mike starts to back away from the starting line. Aizawa ponders if that's against the rules but he's so intrigued by this that he just stays quiet.

Each time he takes a step back, he can feel the chains tense more and more.

-What is he even doing?- Mina raised the question.

-I don't know, but those chains sure look cool- Kirishima replied .

-Yeah, they look so badass!- Denki chimed in.

In his mind, Izuku couldn't help but wonder.

-Just what on earth are you planning to do? Maybe it's because we've only met for like an hour, but you're so unpredictable already... you're so bizarre and mysterious it makes me feel uneasy-

After mike had backed away 2 feet from the starting line , he shoots out a chain from his back, pulling him away even more. That's when Izuku realized.

-Wait! I see it! How did I not think of that?! It seems so obvious now… You...-

And with that... Mike recalls his chains into his body, but not before he gets shoot out at full speed like the arrow of a bow, and like such, Mike creates the shape of an arrow head in front of him with his chain, making him more aero-dynamic.

-YOU TURNED YOURSELF INTO A SLINGSHOT!- Exclaimed the boy.

He shoots out so fast that he clears the course in 2.54 seconds, granting him first place in the test.

The students stood in stunned silence, their jaws practically on the floor.

Aizawa, the pro hero who had witnessed countless quirks and trainings, was taken aback. They had all just witnessed Mike complete the 50-meter dash in an unprecedented time. The astonishment in the air was palpable.

After completing the race, he shoots a chain towards the ground, embedding it into the earth.

He then attempted to halt his momentum by pushing with all his strength against the ground with his feet, still gripping the attached chain. The effort caused his boots to dig into the dirt and soil.

Mike managed to come to a halt eventually, leaving a trail on the ground. He surveyed the damage – his palms were slightly burnt, but he felt satisfied. From an outside perspective, he probably looked quite cool.

Slowly, he straightened up from his bowed-down position, revealing the layer of dirt that had clung to his uniform and face. He calmly wiped his face with the back of his hand, remaining stoic.

As mike walks back to where he stood previous to the test, the class snap out of their shock.

-Ok. That...was cool- Kirishima again breaks the silence.

-Are you kiddin?! That was the freaking coolest dude!- Denki added.

The class gradually snapped out of their amazement and started discussing the incredible feat they had just witnessed, led by the excited exclamations of Kirishima and Denki.

Some even began clapping, and rightfully so.

Mike's victory wasn't the result of a powerful ultimate move or an exceptionally flashy quirk. Instead, he had demonstrated the power of ingenuity and simplicity, using his quirk in a creative way to finish the race far ahead of the rest.

This is the power of CREATIVITY

With his arms crossed, Mike hears the praise, putting a small smirk on his face, breaking his usual pokerface.

Aizawa quickly gets a hold of himself.

-Alright, Alright, That's enough. Now follow me to the next one-

While following Aizawa, Mike can feel the students gazes like sharp needles on his body.

He discretely glances around and sees how Midoriya looks at him in a way that's both admirable and fearful. He looks the other way and sees Bakugou staring at him... like if mike had just killed his whole family.

Mike looked forward again with an annoyed look on his face.

But now it was time for the second event which was:

Event two:

GRIP STRENGTH TEST

Mike looks around, and sees Mezo who did 540kg on the test, which is almost 12 times what he did on middle school.
He then proceeds to take his test, and surprisingly, even with his slim arm he managed to get 50 kg, guess true strength comes from the inside, and with that in mind, mike pulls out chains from his arm and wraps it around the strength test, and it goes all the way up to 4, almost 5 tons, it even broke the strength test.

Thankfully Aizawa wasn't looking, so mike tosses the broken test away and takes out a new one from unsuspecting hands from a classmate, and does the same but this time it is 1 ton, just enough so it doesn't break again.

Event three:

STANDING LONG JUMP

Mike just clears this out by raising himself off the ground using his chains as big stilts, just avoiding the sandbox altogether.

Event four:

SIDE STEPPING

Mike stood back with the rest of the class, observing Mineta's unique approach to the test.

At first, Mike had assumed that jumping would have to be necessary, but now things have gotten interesting.

Mike had a lot of time to think of what he'll do for this, And when it's his turn, first he makes a primitive version of a metronome using his chains. When it's done, Mike hides on a box attached to the bottom of the pendulum.

And just like that, the metronome starts slow and then picks up speed, swinging Mike from side to side rapidly.

Deku, while watching Mike's turn for the side-stepping test, couldn't help but marvel at the ingenuity. He thought to himself.

-A metronome? Out of all the possible options, he chose to make a metronome?!-

-How the hell do you even think of this?- Said Kaminari.

Momo, who had the ability to create anything, found herself increasingly intrigued by Mike's unorthodox methods.

She watched him closely, trying to understand his thought process and how he came up with such unconventional ideas.

Event five:

THROWING

While everyone gets their turn at pitching the ball, Mike recounts all the quirks he saw today, looking at each and every student, but he noticed something...

That guy... the kid that lead him to this classroom and that he entrusted his bag to, hasn't used his quirk at all during these exercises...

-why is that?- Asked the copy of himself.

Mike looks back at Uraraka who had threw the ball already and it just kept going up and up, non stopping.

-damn...- Mike said to himself.

But now it was Izuku's turn.

Mike watches Izuku walk up to the circle with dread in his eyes.

Then he overhears what a conversation.

-Midoriya hasn't been doing so well...- Remarked Iida, a hint worry in his tone.

-Well, duh! He's as quirkless as a pebble!- Exclaimed Bakugo.

-What do you mean, no quirk? Haven't you heard about his feats during the entrance exam?-

Iida asked back to him.

-Yeah... there was an entrance exam people did before coming here. Considering the status of this school, it must've been really hard since these are children that are just starting to get used to their quirks. But then how the hell did he get in? I don't believe him being quirkless for a second. It's always the same; the weakest-looking guy always hides some kind of ultimate superpower or something, in terms of comics at least… And based on looks, he fits the picture perfectly... in simpler terms... that bitch is hiding something... and if it ever gets in my way somehow... it's gonna be a real trouble for me-

Said the copy of Mike.

Midoriya, as he's about to throw the ball with his quirk, is then stopped by Aizawa from using it.

And the ball just landed 46 meters away...

-HUH... But i was trying to use it...- he said in disbelief.

-I erased your quirk- said Aizawa.

Aizawa's bandages around his neck start to move on their own.

-Erased?... Those goggles... of course...- Midoriya starts to piece everything together.

-He's the erasure hero, ERASER HEAD!-

-Eraser head? Have i heard that name before? No... i don't recall, but someone who erases quirks working as a hero is a little wierd, not to mention his mannerism. Quiet sus if you ask me-

Mike had too many question and 0 courage to ask them, so he just stands there as an spectator.

-I saw it... you can't control it, can you? It would just incapacitate you again- Said Aizawa

-Were you hoping for someone to come and rescue your sorry ass afterwards?-

-N-no... it's not like that...-

Before Izuku could finish speaking Aizawa squeezes him with his bandages.

-Whatever it was, it would only had lead to you inconveniencing those around you.

Back when a certain hot-headed hero saved over a thousand people, he made himself a Legend. You may be as reckless, but after saving one... you're useless-

-You will NOT become a hero, using that power like so...-

Aizawa takes a moment to collect himself.

-I'll give you your quirk back... try again... be quick now-

Izuku stands there, muttering to himself.

Mike knows something is up, and he will find out what it is whether Midoriya like's it or not.

Aizawa is dripping something on his eyes.

Then izuku decides to throw the ball again.

He focuses all his power on the tip of his finger, and throws the ball way high into the air.

The ball reaches 705.3 meters.

With tears in his eyes and a forced smile, he says to Aizawa.

-Sensei...!-

-I... can still move-

Aizawa couldn't help but acknowledge Midoriya's impressive throw with a single word:

-Nice-

The entire class was astonished at the incredible distance the ball had traveled, and Mike felt a shiver down his spine.

He shrinks his vision, while saying to himself:

-...this could be a problem in the future...-He knows that ain't the end of it.

-Woo! Now that's a hero-like record if I ever saw one!- Cheered Uraraka.

-His finger seems to have swollen... just like back at the exam... what a strange quirk- Remarked Iida.

-Stylishly done *sparkles*- Said Aoyama too.

But someone isn't very excited to see Izuku use his quirk.

.

.

.

-HUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUH!-

Mike is startled by the random screaming of Bakugo, and he covers his ears.

-Ah! What the hell?!-

Bakugo then lashes out at Izuku.

-EXPLAIN YOURSELF THIS INSTANT, DEKU!- Screamed Bakugo in disbelief.

-WHAAAAAAAAAAA!- Izuku screamed back in fear.

But is quickly stopped by Aizawa.

Mike watches the events unfold but then resumes contemplating the potential consequences of Midoriya's unique quirk, still concerned about what challenges it might bring in the future.

After the fight is settled, the rest of the students keep taking turns at throwing the ball, all while Mike is sitting on the ground drawing stuff on the dirt with a chain.

As the final student finishes their turn, Aizawa calls out to Mike, breaking his focus from the intricate pattern he was drawing on the ground.

-*sigh* what now?-

-What are you doing?- Aizawa asked, his tone weary.

-Don't matter. Get up and go throw the ball-

Mike rose from the ground, brushing off the dirt and preparing for his turn.

As Mike makes his way to the throwing circle, a hush falls over the class, curiosity and anticipation evident on their faces.

Mike's reputation for unpredictability had preceded him, leaving his fellow students eager to witness what he would do next.

Denki and Kirishima, observing from the sidelines, speculated about Mike's next move.

-Imagine he creates a cannon now, bro- Denki speculated.

-Not gonna lie, that would actually be hella cool to see- Kirishima responded.

Uraraka turned to Iida in curiosity, hoping to gain some insight on what Mike might do next.

-Hey Iida, you're pretty smart, right? Any guesses on what Mike will do now?-

-Honestly, I'm just as lost as you are. This Mike is such a wild card that I can't predict anything, but thanks for the compliment- Iida responded with an honest shrug.

Momo said to herself -Can he surprise me even more then what he already did?-

Bakugo's frustration and anger flared as he realized the humiliating situation he found himself in.

Not only was the nerd, who was supposed to be quirkless, now possessing some powerful quirk AND studying at the same school as him, but Mike had also outperformed him in all the tests. It felt like an insult to his pride as the one with the highest scores, to be beaten and outdone by a nobody like Mike.

As Midoriya watched Mike demonstrate his unique quirk, a thought crossed his mind.

-Mike, huh? ... in a way, you kind of remind me of Katchan... The way you use your quirk is so unique and cool. I wish I could learn more from you, be more like you, confident and smart... but it seems like you're not the one for making friends... are you?- He whispered to himself.

Mike unaware of all the attention he's getting, is now standing in the circle while Aizawa hands him the ball.

As he held the ball tightly in his grasp, Mike studied it intently with a calculated gaze, his expression unreadable. It was as if he were examining every detail, every curve, and every indentation with an intense focus.

Then he proceeds to ask:

-i cannot move from this circle, correct?-

-Correct...- Aizawa says as he nods.

Mike goes back to being silent again before warning Aizawa.

-You might want to step back...-

Aizawa furrowed his brow, a mix of curiosity and concern on his face. He took a few steps back, prepared for whatever Mike was about to unleash.

The copy of Mike said:

-I could just do the same as in the 50-meter dash, but that's just lame... so what else could be something involving throwing a projectile very fast? Wait, I don't need to think about speed; I only need distance. Oh wait, but speed is tied to distance... or... I can also guide my ball with a chain to bring it as far as I can; I won't even be moving from here... No, that's lame too. Come on, think!-

Mike then remembered seeing a video once of a guy with a really antique design of a rocksling; he heard that, that was the weapon David used to kill Goliath in the Greek myths; maybe this will be a good choice.

Mike's fingers deftly wrapped the ball in a series of strong, secure chains. He manipulated the chains with precision, carefully encasing the ball in a sturdy cocoon of metal links.

Once done, he swiftly constructed a makeshift rocksling out of chains, each link intertwined and tightened into a perfectly taut frame to hold the ball in place.

-Another slingshot?- Denki said in septicism.

-Shhh!- Jiro quickly silenced him.

Everyone is anticipating this, even All-might who was watching everything in secret.

-I only ever tried this once, right after i saw that video. It didn't looked as professional but it was fun to just throw rocks really far away with this-

Said the copy of mike as he beggins to spin the rocksling.

-Here tho... there's no room for error-

With determined focus, Mike skillfully began spinning the rock sling, quickly building up momentum. A quiet intensity filled the air as he prepared for his throw.

-What I did get really good at is spinning in place; that's for sure- Remarked the copy of Mike.

Mike starts to spin the sling around his body while he himself is spinning too.

Aizawa and the class watch as Mike move in circles while still spinning the rocksling, all waiting anxiously for him to throw the ball, wondering how far he's going to throw it.

Mike continued to spin the rocksling with growing intensity, his body rotating in synchronized circles as he increased the velocity of his movements.

-i need a counter weight-

Mike then makes a bigger solid ball of chains to attach to the other end of his other arm.

As mike spins faster he become almost like a pinwheel, so fluid and mesmerizing.

Aizawa and the class watch mike moves intently, both shocked and fascinated by the way he moved.

After mike had enough speed and power, his eye flashes for a brief moment before throwing the ball as high as he could see, leaving a powerful shockwave on the ground.

The ball that Uraraka had threw earlier was still going high, that's until Mike's ball came at supersonic speed, splitting her's in half.

Aizawa's eyes can't believe the numbers that keep rising and rising until the indicator says that Mike's ball reached a length of 7,2 kilometers above the ground.

The impact was so strong it left Mike kneeling, then he stood up again, his hands shaking. He feels as if 1000 ants were crawling beneath his skin.

Aizawa, despite being on the defense about Mike, opened his mouth to ask him if he's ok by pure instinct, but Mike quickly made his way back to his sketching spot.

His discomfort was evident, but he knows that all he needs is a moment to regain his composure.

Mike's focus returned to his sketches, offering him a momentary distraction from the strange sensations coursing through his body.

-Did he just hit my ball?- Asked Uraraka again.

-It might seem like it. What's more important is that he looks like he might be shaking- Iida pointed out.

After a couple more tests, the events were finished, and now the scoreboard was up.

-Alright, come and look how you did today- said Aizawa.

Mike was still a bit wobbly due to rolling around so much on the endurance running test, so he had to use a cane made of chains to keep him on his feet.

-Your final score simply reflect your performance in each of the events. Explaining the process is a waste of time so all you get is the final rankings- Said Aizawa.

Aizawa's voice echoed through the group as he addressed the students.

-Also, i was lying about expelling someone- He revealed.

Aizawa's unexpected revelation about the threat of expulsion left the entire class in stunned silence.

The weight of the tension they had felt throughout the day suddenly lifted, replaced by an almost comical expression of dumbfounded surprise.

-That was rational deception... meant to make you give it your all-

He said as he lets out a small chuckle.

-WHAAAAAAA?!- The students screamed in surprise and shock.

-Of course it was a lie, you don't need to be a genius to figure that out- Said momo in a calm manner.

Mike wasn't surprised because it was a lie, but more so because if this was the person that was going to teach them heroic stuff then mike wanted none of that.

-Anyway, we're done here. Your curriculums and what not are in the classroom so go check that out- Said Aizawa as he walked away.

A screen displays the student's rankings.

Mike ended up first place of course, followed suit by Momo, then Bakugou, all the way until reaching Izuku who got last place.
