REVIEW S'IL-VOUS-PLAÎT
Spoiler for Ron if you don't like bashing him under- SPOILER (DON'T LIKE SKIP):
Also if you don't like Ron bashing, don't worry he's not accually himself, but Dumbledore is. I'm sorry, I LOVE evil Dumbledore.
Ron was told Hermione was visiting The Burrow so she could explain something about Harry. Upon Hermione's entrance, Ron was complaining to his sister about all his chores. He turned to Hermione, "'Mione, abuse in the wizarding world is illegal, Mum would be going to jail if there were a ministry representative here…" he complained.
"De-gnoming the garden for an hour is not abuse, Ronald. And don't call her ''Mione'," Ginny growled. Ron didn't see a problem with a nickname, so he ignored her.
"All I did was listen in on Mum and Ginny's conversation. They were talking about abuse and how to deal with it," he tried to explain to his friend.
Hermione sighed, "Do you know who they were talking about, Ronald?" she seemed nervous and fidgeted with her sleeves while she looked at him with glassy eyes.
"Well me obviously. Mum likes me the least and when she caught me eavesdropping, she made me do work." Ron thought this was obvious but maybe Hermione isn't as smart as she seems.
Hermione was shaking in anger and Ginny didn't look much better. Eventually Hermione seemed to get her anger under enough control to respond, "Were you ever starved for days for a bit of accidental magic? Was your bedroom the cupboard under the stairs? Were there bars on your window? Did you get beaten within an inch of your life for asking a question?!"
Ron glared at her, "Oh please, no one would do that for a child, 'Mione," he said with a chuckle, "I am abused, admit it." For being the smartest witch of her age, Hermione was clueless about how rare being abused like he is was in the Wizarding World.
Ginny was shaking now too, "You have no idea what some people have to go through Ron! Mum and Dad love us, that's a lot to ask for!"
Ron snorted, "Really Gin, you too? 'Mione and Harry's lives are so easy. Neither of them are poor and their parents don't make them do chores for listening in on a simple conversation!"
The girls blew up, Hermione smacking Ron at the same time Ginny kicked him, "YOU ABSOLUTE MORON, RONALD!! HARRY HAS BEEN ABUSED, I WAS COMING TO TELL YOU!" Hermione yelled, her voice shaking.
Ron glared at her, "No way. Potter's The-Boy-Who-Lived. His relatives are likely doting on him as we speak!"
"No. His relatives are in Azkaban and Harry is in Professor McGonagall's house recovering from internal bleeding inflicted via his uncle for a minor infraction."
"It's probably from falling off his broom. Potter's always trying to show off. There was taking on Quirrel, the basilisk, dementors, and the tournament. He just wants attention!"
"He wouldn't have taken Quirrel on alone if it weren't for the potion only letting one of us through! He would have had you with the basilisk of Professor Lockheart hadn't blown the cave apart! The dementors would have sucked Harry, Sirius, and my souls out had he not stopped them. AND HE DIDN'T ENTER HIMSELF INTO THAT GOD DAMNED TOURNAMENT! HE DOESN'T LIKE ATTENTION!" Hermione yelled at him.
Mum had finally heard the commotion and came running in to see her son on the floor, pointing his wand at a furious Hermione, "Wha-" she was caught off as Ginny pulled her out of the room to explain the situation.
Ron was thankful for this. He didn't want Ginny to get in trouble with Mum when one of them lost it and broke the decree for the restriction of underage sorcery.
A few minutes later, Ron turned back to his friend, his voice cold. "Potter is an arrogant brat who deserves to be abused, there is no way that he is doing anything other than looking for pity when he told you whatever he did about his home life. But you must understand 'Mione, even if he were being hurt by his relatives, he'd deserve it. Hell, he does deserve it."
Hermione looked furious, she whipped out her wand to drive him into oblivion but was cut short by Mum, who Ron didn't realize returned. "RONALD WEASLEY! I WILL NOT TOLERATE YOU TALKING ABOUT HARRY LIKE THAT!" she screeched.
Ron glared at the girls, "I am going to contact the WCS and inform them I'm being abused. You should destroy the evidence by the time they arrive."
"EVIDENCE OF WHAT, RONALD?" Mum screamed.
Ron didn't reply in favor of proceeding up the stairs, the answer was obvious afterall, "Of my abuse, duh." Ron continued up the stairs but came crashing back down when Ginny pulled him back, snarling.
Ron was kind of scared now, Ginny has always succeeded in making him regret his words. "Ronald Weasley. Harry doesn't deserve to be abused. No one does. You are not abused. An hour of degnoming the garden for listening to a private conversation is not abuse. You have no idea the things Harry has had to go through for the past thirteen years, nor do you want to. Do you understand me?" she asked coldly.
Ron snorted, resulting in Hermione punching him in the nose. He glared at her and started up the steps again.
Once upstairs, Ron composed his letter to the WCS.
"Dear Wizarding Child Services,
My name is Ronald Weasley. I live at The Burrow outside a muggle town called 'Ottery St Catchpole'. I am being abused at home and am looking for you to come and take me away from my family. My sister Ginny and my brothers Fred and George are not abused and therefore can remain with my father. My mum will likely try to hide the evidence but I can tell you what you need to know. I was also hoping you could talk to my sister and her friend, Hermione Granger, about how Harry Potter is not being abused at home and his relatives are likely spoiling him rotten so they stop yelling at me too.
Ron Weasley"
Ron finished his letter and sent Pig off right as Fred and George walked in. It was odd to see them so angry. Ron just smiled at them, assuming they heard the lies about Potter and were angry about him being abused.
Fred stepped forward and took the letter out of Ron's hand. Luckily it was only a copy as Hermione taught him never to only have one copy of things. This would be the first time Ron took her advice, but he was worried his mum might steal it to escape justice.
"Where's Pig?" George asked him, his eyes blazing.
Ron pointed out the window, "Out there. I sent the first letter out already. I was worried Mum might steal it so I wrote another so she wouldn't have taken the original."
"Why did you write this?" Fred asked, looking at his twin in a way so unlike what Ron was used to seeing from him, it looked almost like sadness and regret.
Ron cocked his head to the side, "She was abusing me. She, Gin, and 'Mione were talking about how Potter was 'abused' when in reality it was me. I decided I've stood for it long enough and decided to write a letter to the WCS."
George and Fred glared at him. "We just got back from visiting Harry. McG explained everything to us early this morning. She was in tears the entire time because of how worried she was. McG is his guardian now and we left to visit her and Harry with Ginny and Hermione. He's in a horrible state and he has yet to wake up. This is one of the worst cases of abuse the Wizarding World has ever seen. When he wakes up, he will not be allowed any visitors because he will be too prone to disease. We were told to ask if you wanted to visit Harry, but we returned to Mum crying about how you were under some sort of spell."
Ron rolled his eyes. "Gin said he has internal bleeding and she may be right, but I assure you it's because of him trying to show off something he thinks he thinks he's good at, not because of his relatives. We should be focusing on me. The WCS should be here soon."
George spoke again, his voice like ice. "You are not abused Ron. Do you remember three years ago when we rescued him. There were bars on his window, he was starving, and the cupboard under the stairs looked like it had been lived in for several years."
"What about last summer? When we dropped the toffee, his uncle started throwing things and shouting;" Fred added. "Dad told us about what people they were and how they didn't even say goodbye to Harry. Mum would never do that to us!"
"Oh please. Just because they don't like him doesn't mean they abuse him." Ron tried to explain to the two idiots in front of him.
George opened his mouth furiously, but his reply was cut off by the sound of someone knocking on the front door.
Fred and George, glaring at him one last time, raced down the stairs with a gleeful Ron in toe.
Twenty minutes later the WCS was giving Ron a stern talking to about joking about abuse.
"Why does no one ever believe me?" Ron asked Ginny
Hermione glared at him, "We told you you were not abused!"
Ron ignored her as Ginny, Fred, George, and Dad nodded seriously.
Mum was still outside talking, but Ron learned not to eavesdrop after last time. This trip did not go as expected and the twins were still glaring daggers at him. Ron didn't understand why getting people to listen was so hard, 'Maybe when Harry stops pretending to be abused, he can give me some pointers on how to convince others of my unfortunate home situation..' he thought.
