Title: The Monster They Made
Part 6: The Fall of Stonehaven
The city of Stonehaven had been quiet. Nestled along the eastern coastline, it was a thriving metropolis of glass towers, busy harbors, and sprawling neighborhoods. Its people had gone about their lives, unaware of the nightmare rising from the sea.
But as dawn broke, a low rumble shook the ground. It started as a distant vibration—barely noticeable—but quickly grew into a deafening roar that rattled windows and set off car alarms. Birds scattered from rooftops. The ocean boiled.
Then, he emerged.
Quest's massive form rose from the water like a god of destruction, towering over the harbor cranes and container ships. Water streamed from his scales, glowing veins of energy pulsing along his dorsal plates. His piercing, glowing eyes swept over the city like searchlights.
For a moment, there was silence.
Then the first scream shattered it.
The docks erupted in chaos as people fled, dropping crates and tools, scrambling for vehicles that quickly clogged the roads. Quest stepped forward, his footfalls sending tremors through the ground. Shipping containers crumpled like tin cans under his weight.
BOOM!
A massive cargo ship exploded as Quest's tail lashed through it, scattering flames and debris across the harbor. The monster roared, a thunderous sound that rippled through the city and shattered glass windows in its wake.
Emergency Broadcast System Activated
"This is not a test! This is not a test! An unidentified hostile entity has made landfall in Stonehaven. Residents are ordered to evacuate immediately. Repeat—evacuate immediately!"
Panic spread like wildfire. Streets jammed with cars as people tried to flee inland. Helicopters roared overhead, broadcasting warnings and attempting to assess the damage.
But there was no containing him.
Quest tore through the waterfront, his claws ripping apart cranes and fishing boats as though they were toys. He moved with terrifying purpose, leaving craters in the asphalt with every step. Flames billowed around him, black smoke staining the sky.
He reached the city's edge, where skyscrapers loomed like mountains. For a brief moment, he paused. His glowing eyes stared at the buildings as though considering something.
Then, he struck.
Quest's tail smashed into the nearest tower, sending glass and steel cascading down like rain. The building groaned and leaned before collapsing entirely, taking neighboring structures with it. People screamed from the streets below, their cries drowned out by the deafening crash.
Missiles streaked through the air, fired from military helicopters that had arrived to contain the destruction. Quest turned his head, his glowing plates humming with power.
The first missile struck him in the shoulder—an explosion of flame and smoke—but when the dust cleared, it left nothing more than a scorch mark. The second and third missiles followed, but Quest didn't even flinch.
Instead, his dorsal plates began to glow brighter.
The helicopters banked hard, realizing too late what was coming.
Quest roared, opening his mouth wide, and a beam of atomic energy erupted from his maw. The brilliant white-blue beam cut through the air, striking one of the helicopters mid-flight. It exploded instantly, raining debris down into the streets below.
The remaining helicopters veered away, but Quest turned and swept the beam across the skyline. Buildings crumbled and burst into flame, their skeletal frames exposed as rubble filled the streets.
Command Center – 50 Miles Away
"Get me a live feed!" Admiral Rhodes barked.
The room filled with panicked voices as footage of Quest's rampage appeared on the screens. Flames consumed entire districts. Explosions lit the sky as gas lines erupted.
"This is... it's worse than we thought," one analyst whispered.
Admiral Rhodes slammed his fist on the table. "Deploy the air force! Get tanks into the streets—now! We cannot let this thing leave that city!"
"But sir—civilians are still evacuating! We'll be firing into the—"
"I said fire!" Rhodes roared. "That thing cannot walk out of there alive!"
Stonehaven – Ground Zero
Quest continued his rampage, indifferent to the screams and explosions around him. The air was thick with smoke and ash, but he didn't care.
He crushed tanks beneath his feet, ripped apart barricades, and swatted helicopters out of the air like insects. Missile strikes peppered his body, but they only made him angrier.
He wasn't just destroying the city—he was sending a message.
To the world.
To the scientists who made him.
To anyone who thought they could control him.
This was what they created. A weapon that didn't care about the lives of humans. A force that couldn't be reasoned with.
The monster they made had declared war.
And the world would burn.
End of Part 6.
