Title: The Monster They Made
Part 9: The Path of Destruction
Quest moved with purpose.
The waters churned violently around him as he carved a path through the ocean, his massive body creating waves that sent ripples across the world's busiest shipping lanes. His dorsal plates, still glowing faintly from his last attack, cut through the darkness like jagged beacons of death.
And now, his next target was clear—China.
But no country would be spared if they stood in his way.
South Korea – 11:47 PM
The South Korean navy had been monitoring the situation since Stonehaven fell. Their warships were stationed in a defensive formation, anticipating that if Quest continued his rampage, they would be next.
They were right.
A fleet of destroyers and aircraft carriers patrolled the Yellow Sea, their weapons primed. Spotlights cut through the darkness, scanning the rolling waves for any sign of the monster.
Then the water rose.
A massive shadow loomed beneath the surface. A second later, he was there. Quest exploded from the sea, his claws tearing through the hull of the nearest destroyer like it was paper. The ship groaned and snapped in half, its sailors screaming as they were thrown into the ocean.
"FIRE! FIRE! FIRE!"
Missiles launched. Torpedoes filled the water. Every ship in the fleet unleashed their full arsenal. The night lit up with explosions.
None of it mattered.
Quest tanked every hit. Walked through every barrage. The water around him was alive with fire and debris, but he remained unstoppable.
He swiped his tail, crushing two more ships in an instant. His eyes burned with cold indifference as he ripped an aircraft carrier apart, its jets uselessly launching off the deck in a desperate escape attempt.
Then, he opened his mouth.
The atomic beam fired, cutting across the entire fleet.
One by one, the warships erupted into fireballs, their metal skeletons collapsing into the sea. The entire South Korean naval force stationed in the Yellow Sea was gone in minutes.
Quest never stopped moving.
His course remained unchanged.
Next: The East China Sea.
Taiwan – 4:30 AM
The Taiwanese military had scrambled its defenses the moment the South Korean fleet went dark. They knew what was coming.
The island's defenses were among the strongest in the world—heavy artillery, missile systems, air superiority. Fighter jets roared across the sky, missile launchers locked on, and every gun was pointed at the sea.
Then the sirens screamed.
"Contact! He's here!"
Quest breached the shoreline. His massive frame rose from the waves as he tore into the coast. Concrete defenses shattered under his weight. He crushed tanks underfoot like insects.
The military fired everything they had. Jets. Artillery. Even prototype energy weapons.
It only made him angrier.
He retaliated without hesitation.
His atomic beam ripped across the coastline, leveling an entire military base in a single sweep. Fighter jets were vaporized before they could even get close. Soldiers ran, screamed, and died in seconds.
Quest moved inward, crushing everything in his path. Cities. Military installations. Power plants. By dawn, Taiwan was in flames.
It was no longer a battle. It was a massacre.
Shanghai, China – 9:00 AM
Beijing had been tracking Quest since Stonehaven. When the South Korean fleet disappeared, and when Taiwan stopped responding, China's military command realized the horrifying truth:
He was coming for them.
Shanghai, one of the most populous cities on Earth, was now a war zone. Millions of civilians were evacuating as China's military assembled the largest defense force in history.
Tanks rolled through the streets. Missile launchers were primed. The Chinese Air Force scrambled its stealth bombers and hypersonic weapons. The entire Eastern Seaboard was on full lockdown.
Satellite imagery showed the target approaching.
Then, the ocean trembled.
Quest arrived.
The moment his massive frame broke the surface, the full force of China's military unleashed hell upon him.
Hundreds of missiles. Artillery barrages. EMP strikes. Advanced railguns.
The assault was relentless. The sky burned with the streaks of hypersonic weapons, the city shaking from the sheer power being thrown at him. It was humanity's most powerful military… against one monster.
For a brief moment, it seemed like they were pushing him back. Smoke and fire engulfed his body. The attacks were so overwhelming that even Quest—unstoppable as he was—was momentarily staggered.
Then his dorsal plates glowed.
The heat signature on satellite spiked to impossible levels.
He roared.
The loudest, most devastating roar ever recorded. The shockwave alone shattered windows for miles.
Then, he unleashed everything.
The atomic beam wasn't a single blast this time.
It was a full sweep.
Quest turned his head, firing his beam across Shanghai's entire skyline. Skyscrapers collapsed. Bridges melted. The military's entire defensive line was incinerated in seconds. The jets in the sky tried to scatter—but they were cut down one by one.
Within minutes, Shanghai was a burning husk.
China's greatest city was gone.
The world had officially lost all control.
And Quest Strother marched forward.
End of Part 9.
