It was evening once again at the Ketchum household, Amari, Mew, and the two twins all sitting at thr couch.
Mew, as always, was laid out on top of Amari's head, a spot that recently became her favorite.
Newtwo was playing with some type of handheld, Amari couldn't really recognize it, and he doubted that her brother or Mew could tell him what it was.
Speaking of, Mewtwo was reading a book, using psychic to hold up his cup of tea next to him.
It seemed like everyone had an occupation.
Everyone except for, well...Amari.
He was perfectly fine with it, not like he was mostly bothered by it.
He just fidgeted with his hands...
Then his fingers...
Then his pants...
Than he looked around the living room constantly...
Has that TV always been that big...?
Oh, that curtain's much more brighter than usual...
There was a lot he could easily distract himself with, almost too much...
Unfortunately, what he didn't realize was that he was staring in someone's direction...for a bit too long.
'Is there something I can help you with?' A deep, male voice rattled inside of Amari's head, snapping him out of his trance.
It was Mewtwo, who was staring at him as if he was creeped out.
Amari blushed, realizing what had happened.
"A-Ah...no, sorry...I wasnt trying to look at you, I..." He tried to say, immediately looking away with embarrassment, a frown on his face.
"Stop staring at me, you freak!"
"Are you gay or something? Look at someone else, fag."
"I don't like you like that, you pervert!"
He teared up, not enough to start completely crying, but it was noticeable he was upset.
'Amari...?' Mewtwo spoke up once more inside of Amari's mind, noticing his clear distress. 'Did I say something wrong?' He asked.
'Yeah, you look like you're...well, y'know." Mew added, her face showing concern.
"I-I...no...it's just...I..." Amari tried to say something, anything, but he was too scared of what they would think.
What if they thought he was weird?
They would hate him...right...?
'We wouldn't hate you.' Newtwo spoke up, her soft but stern voice getting Amari's attention. 'We know what it's like to be different...to be hated for not being like everyone else.' She said. 'You can trust us, okay?'
Amari hesitated, unsure.
He let out a long, heavy sigh.
"I...I like to fidget...a lot...it helps me keep calm." Amari said. "I also like to look around at certain things...sometimes its objects that look interesting to me, other times its people..." He explained. "But some people don't understand it...and some like to make assumptions that can't be proven false, because they refuse to see it another way...so I'm bullied for it...often." He finished, avoiding eye contact with the three Pokémon in front of him.
It was silent for quite some time, each second feeling like it had been painfully passing by.
Eventually, Mew flew in front of Amari's face.
'It's ADHD, yeah?' The pink, psionic feline asked.
"I-I don't know...my parents never cared enough to take me to the doctor or anything..." Amari said, frowning.
'It's likely ADHD.' Mewtwo spoke up, folding his arms. 'Unnecessary fidgeting, hyper fixation on certain objects or people, anxiety...and those are only the simplest factors...' He continued, closing his eyes in thought. 'Either way, it doesn't make you any different from anyone else.' He said.
"How so...?" Amari asked, his eyes widened.
'Some people may find it weird when someone stares at them, but most people are aware of what ADHD is, since a good amount of people have it, especially young children.' Newtwo explained. 'There's even been cases where Pokémon have been diagnosed with ADHD.' She said.
'Point is, it doesn't make you any different than a "normal person" who doesn't have it, or any different from a person who does.' Mew said. 'Besides, who cares about those people who made fun of you back then, you have us now!' She continued. 'We won't see you any differently because of some simple disorder, so stop worrying about it!' Mew said, nuzzling her head onto Amari's cheek.
Amari's eyes widened.
Then the tears came.
He wrapped all three of them in a hug, crying softly.
Newtwo and Mew gratefully accepted the comfort, while Mewtwo reluctantly allowed the boy to hug him.
'Ugh, never getting used to this...' He groaned.
'Oh, come on! You know you enjoy it.' Mew teased.
'Indeed, you could learn a thing or two about comfort.' Newtwo added, also teasing the older genetic twin.
'If it weren't for the fact that he needed this, I'd wipe that smirk off of BOTH of your faces...' Mewtwo growled, irritated by the their teasing.
Amari is confronted about his habits, and learns about them.
AUTHOR'S NOTE:
Hey, I'm back again.
Finished psychology this quarter in college, so I decided to make this mini-chapter as a celebration.
Currently still writing another chapter for my other story, 'Legendary Reincarnation', but I'm going back and forth with these two.
See you again in the next episode, bye!
