The information in the chapters regarding my fathers passing and the conversations with my family are absolutely true. This has been my way to work through the choas still locked in my mind.
The next morning Adam awoke seeing Kim actually still in bed with Gunner laying to top of her. He was confused but thrilled at the same time. Kim was still asleep, resting comfortably under their dog. Adam grabbed him phone to take a photo of the adorable moment. He also noticed a text from Michael letting him know that Gunner had gone out to use the bathroom and insisted on being with Kim afterwards. They could only assume Gunner could feel her anxiety and came in to comfort her. Adam got up to check on the kids and use the bathroom. Both kids were awake playing with the toys in their room. Most were cat toys but the kids didnt seem to mind. "Morning babies!" Adam whispered as he entered the room. "Morning daddy!" Both kids got up heading for hugs. "So mommy is still sleeping with Gunner so how about we use the bathroom then head downstairs for some breakfast?" Adam offered hoping Kim could sleep longer. "Okay." Both kids were fine with moving to the bathroom and getting breakfast. Adam helped both kids and led them down the stairs.
Both kids headed to the sunroom to play while Adam cooked. They were laughing, enjoying the outside while enclosed. The giggling was over the top but Adam loved every second of it. He made a simple oatmeal with fruit and turkey bacon. It was easy and the kids loved it. They sat shortly later for their meal talking about going to see the wolves later in the day. They had never seen wolves before so they were very excited. They were also excited to see deer in the backyard again. Adam picking them up so they could see more deer. But reminding them not to scare the deer. Adam didnt want the deer scared and run into the road. He had seen way too many dead deer on the roads since they had arrived. Some basically liquefied by the 18 wheelers. It literally made him sick. So they were not disrupting the peace in the backyard. "How about we play uno for a bit?" Adam asked hoping to keep the kids busy longer and let Kim sleep longer. She was lacking in sleep and she was resting comfortably. So the kids needed to stay busy but quiet.
Adam took out the double deck of Uno cards from the cabinet above the desk for the kids to play with. They played often at home so they knew the game well. They were also pretty good at playing the game. While the kids played the game Kim was waking up feeling a weight on top of her. She smiled softly realizing it was their dog. "Hey buddy. How did you end up here?" Kim asked petting the dog. They laid still a bit longer hearing giggling from below her. She was thrilled the kids were awake and happy. Though she felt like she was still stuck in a nightmare that she couldnt wake up from. She wondered how long this feeling would last. She wondered how long they would be here still. They really needed a break again but that wasnt in sight. She just wanted things to get back to normal or somewhat normal. Whatever that means. Was life ever normal? Probably not. "I guess we should get moving." Kim sighed heavily. Gunner jumped down letting Kim up. She headed to the bathroom after letting Gunner exit the room. She still needed a few minutes before she was ready to head down the stairs.
As she dressed she felt numb inside. The walk down the stairs felt like it took forever and it was painful. Everything felt sore, her joints popping as she walked. As she hit the floor the kids ran to her for hugs. "Morning my babies!" Kim hugged them tight. "Im going to head out side for a bit. I need some sunshine." Kim tried to smile but it was forced. "Sounds like a plan! Lets go outside for a bit to color on the driveway while mommy soaks up the sun." Adam led the kids outside. Kim and Gunner following them. Kim sat in her chair listening to the kids laughing as they drew on the driveway. Adam stayed with the kids but kept an eye on Kim. He could see her fighting all the emotions. Fighting to make sense of it all. Her eyes were closed but looking directly at the sun. Adam watched Kim prop her feet up leaning back some. He knew she wasn't asleep.
None were surprised when Oden started walking towards them. It had been an almost daily thing. "Hey bud!" Kim said as she opened her eyes. Oden stopped walking looking towards a bush by the front door. He ran into the bush looking up inside it. "Buddy what do you see?" Kim was watching closely as was Adam. They could both see the cat pawing at something in the bush. Also biting at it. "Kim he is climbing into the bush. Whats in there?" Adam had no idea what was happening. "Could be the snake. They like that bush in the sunshine." Kim shrugged getting up to look. "I dont see anything. Though Im not interested in getting too close." Kim moved back towards her seat. "Should we be concerned?" Adam had no idea. "Nope! They eat the mice, not poisonous. Still dont like them." Kim shrugged a bit. "Okay." Adam looked towards the kids but Kim gasped freaking out as the shake was ripped from the bush. It flopped around before slithering off towards the driveway to hide in the leaves. Adam moved the kids back seeing the cat running after the snake.
Kim was running to the back of the house to get back inside. Adam had never seen her so scared before. He lifted the kids and motioned for the dog to follow them inside. Kim was still gagging, shaking, wiping her skin. "What is wrong with you?" Adam was so surprised by her behavior. "I hate snakes. They give me nightmares. Have since I was a child. It feels like its climbing on me." Kim hated them. It freaked her out more than anything else. "Well okay. Your cats outside again looking in at us." Adam pointed letting the kids down. Kim walked right over to the door opening it. "Nope dude. Im not coming back out. You did this so now you have to deal with it. Next time leave the snake alone." Kim shivered as she shut the door. Adam was highly amused seeing his badass girlfriend scared over a little snake. "You know the snake is more scared or you than you are of it." Adam added smirking at her. "Dont care! Super gross! Hate them!" Kim was still dancing around freaking out. Michael entered the room looking at Kim.
"Did I hear you saw the snake?" He laughed watching her. "Oden attacked it! Ripped it from the bush, then chased it! So vile!" Kim shuddered again. "Go shower! It will wash that feeling off." Michael watched her run up the stairs. "Shes a mess!" He just headed back to the office leaving them be. "Well I guess its back to our game while mom showers." Adam laughed with the kids. Kim took a long shower trying to wash off the slimy feeling from seeing the snake. She really hated them. She returned 30 minutes later clean and ready for the day. "Feeling better?" Adam asked still amused by her behavior. "Yeah. Im going to eat quick then head to the hospital for a bit. I can meet you at the wolf preserve after a bit. Does that work?" Kim asked as she headed to the kitchen to make some breakfast. "Yeah that works. We can do naps and lunch before we meet up so its good timing. And while they nap I will bring up the Halloween decorations so we can all decorate later." Adam watched her smiling. "Thank you. Thats a great idea." Kim loved Halloween so this was perfect. The kids loved it too so everyone would be happy.
Adam and the kids continued to play their game as Kim made a quick breakfast sandwich. Once it was finished she moved to sit with her family as she ate her sandwich. It was nice getting a break with her family. "Any messages this morning?" Adam asked as he kept playing. "No. So I have no idea who will be there or what Im walking into. But I need to spend time with him before he passes. Try to get some closure. I dont think it will ever be fully solved but I need something from him." Kim sighed heavily. "Understand completely. And makes sense. Just talk to him. He will hear you even if he can't respond. That way you can express your feelings, thoughts, hopefully not living with regrets." Adam watched her process what he said. "Yeah thats true. I dont want to live with regret. Thats why Im here. I would have regretted not coming here. That would feel like failure to who I am. But its hard too. Being around those that hurt me. Its a mess thats for certain." She sighed again taking a bite of her sandwich. "I hear ya. But you are doing great. And you are managing your feelings and emotions well. Im proud of you." He leaned over kissing her head.
"Thank you! I do appreciate that. I just need closure right now. Whats that song, waiting is the hardest part?" Kim smirked a bit. "Yeah that how it goes. When this is all over we really need to work on our living wills. Just in case. I dont want either of us caught off guard like we are right now." It was a hard conversation to have but it needed to be done. "Agree. When we get back home I promise we will do that. Seems more important than ever right now." While she agreed she most certainly didnt want to have this conversation in front of the kids. "Promise. You ready to head out?" He watched her nodding a bit. "Yeah I want to go before it gets later in the day. Wonder what craziness is ahead for today." Kim mused as she changed her shoes and got her sunglasses. "I have no idea. Just try staying positive." Adam got up hugging her tight. "I will do my best always." Kim laughed a bit. "Babies! Love you so much. Keep behaving for daddy!" Kim hugged both kids as she headed out for the day.
Kim arrived at the hospital already exhausted. She moved to her dads room finding him asleep. She watched him sleep trying not to wake him. Getting as comfortable as possible pulling out her phone to scroll Instagram. It wasnt long before her mother arrived. "He has been asleep the whole time I have been here. Havent seen anyone yet." Kim looked back towards her phone. Her mother pulled out a book and started to read. Not that Kim blamed her but she could be more productive during these times. Kim waited for a bit before she spoke. "You could be using this time to look for a therapist." Kim stated plainly. "What?" Her mother looked over confused. "I said you should use this time to find a therapist." Kim repeated her statement. "Im waiting for a call back to see if its the right fit for your father." Cindy answered. "What? I said you need to find a therapist. You! After this is over you are definitely going to need it." Kim was shocked but it proved her mother never heard her. "I havent found one I felt comfortable with. And I gave up honestly." Cindy admitted. "Well I get that but you really need it. Putting it off isnt helping anything." Kim rolled her eyes a bit but her mother started to read again.
A bit later Kim was getting annoyed by the alarms down the hall. "Can they just shut that alarm off?" Kim mused a loud. "What are you talking about?" Cindy asked. "The alarm that's beeping down the hall. Its annoying me." Kim explained. "Your fathers alarms arent going off." Cindy was confused. "No down the hall! It's bugging the shit out of me. How do you not hear that?" Kim was beyond annoyed. "Yeah I didnt hear it till you mentioned it." Cindy admitted but Kim scoffed thinking about how her mother claims to have ADD. While the silence in the room was appreciated it was also frustrating. The tension Kim felt in the room was suffocating. It was clear Cindy didnt want to talk even if it meant possibly fixing things. So Kim sat playing on her phone looking towards her dad often. Kim headed to the bathroom at one point needing the fresh air, even if it was still hospital air.
She returned to find a message that both kids were napping. She was thrilled. "Let me know when they wake. We can meet at Village Farmer for lunch before the preserve. My mom is here and the tension is stiffling." Kim texted needing to talk to someone. "Sounds good darling! Hows your dad?" Adam asked sitting outside. "Asleep. Not sure they gave him Morphine or not yet. Havent seen a nurse or doctor yet. The tremors seem worse today. Especially his jaw. This is rough." Kim texted back closing her eyes a bit. "Sounds rough. Try to rest a bit. Maybe do some therapy homework. Might help since your mom is there and you don't necessarily need her hearing things you say to your dad." Adam knew she was beyond stressed over this all. "Not a bad idea. Talking to her is like talking to a brick wall. Im starting to think she needs to be checked for memory issues." Kim had been concerned with her mothers lack of memory retention and lack of listening skills. "I hear ya. One thing at a time." Adam could only imagine how Cindy was processing all this if at all. He saw the memory loss issue but that could just be it wasnt a big deal to her so why remember it.
But Kim did. And no matter what that should be acknowledged. But Kim had heard I don't remember that or that didn't happen one too many times. Adam had followed up with a text containing a link to the restaurant Kim had suggested. He was double checking since it seemed more like a bakery than a restaurant. "Yes that is the right place. We love the pot pies and the apple cider donuts." Kim laughed a little. "Sounds awesome!" Adam laughed. Kim really did find sweets everywhere she went. And he wasnt sure he had an apple cider donut before so he was game. Less than 45 minutes later she had gotten a text the kids were up and hungry. Kim promised to leave right away to meet them. "Okay dad I have to go. But I will see you tomorrow. Love you dad. Love you mom." Kim didnt wait for a reply as she exited the room. She headed right to car needing to see her family. It would fix her spinning. She arrived a few minutes before her family so she waited outside looking at the pumpkins. Taking in the fresh air. She saw two very excited kids as Adam arrived. They must have been over the top but she was happy to see them. No matter how loud they were.
"Hey babies!" Kim hugged them tight as they ran to see her. "Hey baby!" Kim hugged Adam needing to feel his body against hers. "Hey. Lets order then we can talk. The kids are starving." Adam knew they would be hangry soon. "Sounds good. Lets go kiddos." The moved inside the kids looking at all the pastries. "You want a chicken pot pie and a turkey pot pie to share?" Kim asked watching them nod. "Okay lets get that started right away while they work on our sandwiches." Kim and Adam ordered the food and the donuts. Kim took both kids outside to start eating as Adam waited for the donuts and pager. The sandwiches would take longer but that was fine. The kids eating was most important. Adam found them easily enough both kids looking happy with their lunch. "Dig in babe!" Kim offered a fork knowing the kids wouldnt finish both pot pies. "The turkey one, the crust is made of stuffing. The center is turkey with gravy then topped with mashed potatoes. Crazy good." Kim nibbled on both as did the kids. "Sounds good. Let me get in on that." Adam was amazed how good this little place really was.
"So good! Kiddos you better eat up or Im gonna eat it." Adam laughed as the kids look offended. "No sharing!" Milo sassed as he laughed. "Huh? Guess I will have to wait till you two finish." He smiled with the kids who were happy eating lunch. Kim headed to get their sandwiches a few minutes later. "This looks good. Extra russian dressing on the side." Kim shimmied her shoulders digging in on her sandwich. "That does look good. Im starving!" Adam dug in right away. They had places to be but they all needed to eat first. Neither rushed the kids letting them eat at their own pace. They all enjoyed each others meals. It was nice and relaxing for them all. "I really needed this. Just fresh air with my family." Kim sighed enjoying the fresh air. "Im happy we did this. Should we head over to see the wolves?" Adam asked just as the kids cheered. "I think that is the answer." Kim laughed cleaning up the mess as Adam cleaned up the kids. They were a mess but still adorable. "Ready?" Kim saw both kids smiling wide. "Yeah. Clean and happy kids. Lets go." Adam led the kids back to the car Kim following with the donuts.
The family took one car as they headed to the preserve. Kim had never been there before but heard it was educational and a great way to enjoy the outside. The family spent several hours walking around looking at all the different wolves. The kids enjoying the animals but also just being outside. Kim and Adam knew this warmer weather was not normal so they were determined to make the most of it. And it helped Kim breathe. It helped slow the spinning and allowed her to heal some. It wouldnt be over night but they would get there. They returned home just as dusk was setting in. Adam took the dog outside for a bit letting him stretch his legs some. "Kiddos! How about tonight we let mommy and daddy going to the movies alone?" Michael suggested. Both kids seemed excited about it. "Um okay why?" Kim asked. "Well you both could use a break and I know you love Beetlejuice and the sequel is out. So go see it. Enjoy the night." Michael watched Kim almost cry. "Thank you. I appreciate that." Kim smiled. "I havent seen the first one. But Im good for seeing the second one. For now let's decorate the house." Adam picked the kids who were cheering loudly.
"Sounds great! This should be fun." Kim knew it would be a lot of work but the kids would love it. Kim and Adam opened up the bins letting the kids pick things to decorate with. And to chose where the items went. The kids loved every second of it. Both adults enjoying the laughter and the joy on their faces. Adam took lots of photos to remember the day, remember the joy during a traumatic time in their lives. Kim decorated both fireplace mantles and even taped blacks bats above the one mantle. Outside they hung up the raven lights, changed the bulbs in the landscape lighting to orange and hung ghost clinging to the roof top of the porch. It had literally taken hours but they enjoyed it throughly. "I love all the vintage looking items. And that you have them elevated so they dont get broken." Adam looked up seeing all the vintage looking items. "I love them. Something about nostalgia and the holidays just makes me happy." Kim smiled looking up at them. "I can see that." Adam kissed her head holding her close as the kids played with the bubble wrap.
"My mom actually made our costumes for years. Like from scratch. Would get the fabric from the store, the pattern, would use a sewing machine to put it all together. As we got older that stopped. Guess we didnt like that anymore. I honestly dont think I even went out trick or treating after 10 years old. And we definitely didn't decorate other than cutting pumpkins. I love that they are into doing all the decorating. It feels like good bonding time." Kim watched them running around stomping on the bubble wrap. "Its great! They do love it. And its great memories for all of us. We ready to start dinner? I can take the tubs back downstairs while you cook." Adam watched her smile. "Sounds good baby! Thank you!"Kim kissed him briefly then moved to the kitchen. She could hear Adam going up and down the stairs and the kids playing.
"Dinners ready!" Kim called out. "Looks good! What is it?" Adam asked getting the kids settled at the table. "Its orzo pasta with diced tomatoes, Italian sausage, spinach and parm cheese." Kim smiled watching the kids digging in. "Looks awesome. Let me take some to Michael. Be right back." Adam took a bowl into the office as Michael was still on a call. "Thanks baby! Its the least we can do." Kim winked as Adam came back into the room. "He has definitely put up with a lot the last week. So we can help out making food for him. Thats easy." Adam smirked a bit. "Well Im cooking anyway so I might as well cook for him too. Plus he loves my cooking." Kim laughed as she started to eat her dinner. "Well I love it too. So keep up the good work please." Adam winked at her. "Oh I will. Got to feed my babies." Kim smiled as they all ate dinner together. It really was the best family experience.
"Kiddos movie time for you two after we get changed into jammies!" Michaels saw both kids finished eating and were ready to get moving. "Have fun! They look pretty clean tonight." Adam laughed a bit knowing the kids were normally a mess after eating. "Either way its fine. You both need a break and we have cartoons to watch." Michael hurried the kids upstairs to get cleaned and changed while Kim and Adam continued to enjoy dinner. It was easy, carefree, neither rushing. "Are you excited for tonight?" Adam asked hoping she would enjoy the night. "Yeah. The first one was great so Im excited about the second one. And I love Michael Keaton. Hes my favorite Batman too. Just something about his voice and his facial expressions has me hooked." Kim was certain Adam never saw those movies either. "Add it to the list. Who are the vilians?" He asked wanting to learn more. "The first is the Joker played by Jack Nicelson. The second has Cat Women and Penguin. Its dark, gritty, sad. The story of how Cat Women became who she was and the story of Penguin being dropped in the river because of how he looked. Its crazy and bloody at times. After Penguin is shot to death the other penguins slide his body into the water for his body to sink. Its intense. But so good." Kim saw the amused look on Adams face.
"Sounds like a great movie. We are definitely adding that to the list. I love your passion for it. The way you spoke about it makes me really want to see it." Adam knew she would be thrilled. "I will spare you the George Clooney Batman movies. They are just horrid. No one needs to see that." Kim shuddered a bit. "Yeah they were awful!" Michael stated as they returned down the stairs. "Well thank you for sparing me some torture. If you two both hate it then I dont want to see it. You dont agree on much where movies go so that says everything." Adam was shocked they could agree on anything without an argument. "So very true. Kiddos lets turn on the fireplace and watch some cartoons." Michael brought them into the living room getting them set up on the couch then turned on the propane fireplace. It was just easier for the night. "Mia promise you wont try to watch tv from the floor right in front of the fireplace. You will hurt your neck like that." Kim warned hoping their daughter didnt try to pull a stunt. Mia just nodded watching tv. Kim didnt allow a lot of tv so it was a treat.
"Lets have our donuts then we can head out." Kim suggested as she cleaned up from dinner. "Sounds good to me." Adam plated the donuts for the kids then handed one to Michael. Kim ate hers over the sink looking over to see Adam looking amused. "What? They are messy!" Kim stuck out her tongue then took another bite. Adam ate his donut moaning at the yummy goodness. "This is delicious! Good call on these." He walked over kissing her lips. Loving the sugar coating on them. "Its so good. I think the best around here." Kim winked as she finished cleaning up. "I have nothing to compare it to but it tastes delicious especially on your lips." Adam whispered the last part next to her ear. He watched her shiver a bit. "Maybe later. We just have to be quiet." Kim winked pushing him back some. She needed space before they made out in front of the kids. "We should go before we miss the movie." Adam was trying to get them moving some. "Babies! Have fun tonight. Go to bed on time please. Love you both so much." Kim got hugs from both kids Adam following suit as they headed out.
The couple jumped into the car ready to head out. Kim drove them to the theater since she knew which one she wanted to go to. It was an older location, a historic building and very small but Kim loved that. "How are you feeling after today?" Adam asked wondering where her head was at. "Worried, tired, sad, frustrated, confused. Its a lot to process. Thinking about all the things we will need to deal with after this. Making sure my mom has everything in order in case the worst happens. They have no living wills. They had no plans ahead of time. Their will is out dated. Bitchinas money is only in dads name. Why he didn't consolidatethe accounts I dont know. Knowing mom needs to sell the house. Its too much house, 2600 square feet. 2.30 acres. She cant handle the stairs. I know Im over thinking and freaking out but I need to know this shit gets handled. The clean out is going to be a bitch already. I know that. Im so not looking forward to it." Kim sighed. "Sounds like a lot. But I think anyone in your situation would be thinking the same thing. This is a lot for anyone to deal with let alone someone who was abuse by their parents. Its a beautiful thing Kim." Adam squeezed her hand holding her tight.
"Lets just enjoy our time together. We havent had much time alone during this past week. So we enjoy the time, hopefully the movie, some popcorn. And then we go home and hopefully have some fun." Kim smiled slyly as they pulled up outside the theater. "Old school cinema, I like this a lot." Adam opened the door for her to walk in. They noticed it was mostly empty which they were thrilled about. "Wait only 10 a ticket? Thats great Kim. And it comes with a small popcorn and small soda? This place is great!" Adam was shocked but excited about it. "They do a retro series here. So we have seen Goonies, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Breakfast Club, Spaceballs all here. Plus Mary Poppins on an Anniversary thing. And our favorite Christmas movie White Christmas. Its great." Kim loved it. "Thats awesome! We need something like that around us. I would love that. Especially with your love of old movies." Adam bumped her hip as they moved to the room their movie was in. "And no one in here. Even better!" Kim laughed grabbing some of the wider seats.
"What kind of movie is this? Horror? Comedy? Drama?" Adam asked having not seen the first one. "Comedy. The orginial one is based off a couple who die on a covered bridge in a car accident. They were on bikes. They returned home not realizing they were dead. The house gets bought by a strange family whos daughter can see ghosts. She befriends them. But the dead couple meet up with Beetlejuice as they try to reclaim their home from the family that bought it. Haunting the house. Its funny. Not scary. Im excited for the second one even if its 20 years later." Kim explained as they waited. "The guy who played the dad in the first one is now a pedophile. So Im curious how they will get around that." Kim explained further. "Interesting. Hopefully they do it justice and not just recast him." Adam had no idea who played the dad but was intetested in what would happen.
The lights turned off as the previews started and the couple was still alone in the theater. Kim was thrilled. She hated when people talked in the movies, used their phones or were just disruptive. "It's starting!" Kim was humming with excitement. Adam was amused seeing her like this. Kim was watching intently but Adam was watching both the movie and Kim. He could see her joy over the movie clear as day. Snacking on her popcorn almost looking child like. Adam would have gladly paid triple to see her this happy. As the movie continued Adam adjusted in his seat several times but Kims focus never waivered from the screen. Though it was super cheesy how they explained the exit of the father in the movie. A cheap cartoon added to tell the story. But the rest of the movie was solid. The underlying love story was sweet and showed that grief lasts long after a person leaves this earth. Maybe not the best plot line given Kims life but it made for a better movie.
When it ended roughly 2 hours later Kim was still beaming. "So what did you think?" Kim asked as they still sat a bit. "It was good. A little chessy at times but overall good. I liked how it referenced the first movie for those who hadnt seen it. It was fun. I didnt see the daughter having the same gift of seeing ghosts coming. And I loved the family reunion in the after life. Im glad we did this. We needed this." Adam hugged her as they stood to leave. "Me too! Some time to stop spinning, to focus elsewhere. It's definitely needed." Kim smiled as they exited the theater. Adam wrapped his arm around her shoulders as they walked to the car. It comfortable, relaxing. They needed this connection. "I have an idea. Follow me." Kim took Adams hand leaving him up some stairs to a street lined with restaurants and shops. Kim moved right to the ice cream shop. "Solid plan!" Adam moved inside lookimg over all the flavors available.
"Whatcha getting?" He knew she had a reason to come here. Especially since they passed an ice cream place on the way home. "Either the Death by Mint or the Chocolate Pretzel peanut butter whatever ice cream." Kim wasnt sure but both were good. "Good choices. Plenty of good choices here." Adam was looking over all the ice cream and gelato flavors before making the finally choice. The couple sat at a table enjoying thier ice cream. "Has your phone gone off at all?" Adam asked unsure if she had checked it. "Last I looked no updates. Thats okay. Whats to update? That he is still asleep." Kim shrugged not sure what to expect. "They put a cart in his room with snacks and drinks so we dont have to leave his side as much. I like that. And I like that they call it comfort care not hospice. They will allow comfort feedings which if he aspirates it is what it is. Just allowing him to eat things he likes, if he can, till he passes." Kim stared off at a movie playing. "That does sound nice for the family. Has your mom figured out where to take him yet?" Adam asked unsure if that had happened. "No. Shes still dragging her feet hoping he gets into hospice house which only has 6 rooms. But thats covered 100% by medicare. And so far he doesn't qualify. Hes not bad off enough yet. How sick is that?" Kim rolled her eyes a bit.
"That is screwed up. But I guess with only 6 beds they have to choose wisely. I dont know. The good thing is that the hospital is not at capacity so they wont kick him out. It might get dicey with insurance but he will have a bed always." Adam could see this was weighting on her. "Thats true. I just feel like Im the one who has the most education on this subject somehow. And the ine who is pushing the most to get shit done. It's frustrating watching my mom read a book instead of trying to find a place for dad to go or to find a therapist. Like yeah Im on my phone but Im still working on education for myself, keeping up to date on cases around the country, staying up to date on the rape case backlog. Im still working somewhat. I have answered questions about cases while in the hospital. I know I shouldnt but those woman have waited long enough for justice. I can answer a few questions to help out." Kim admitted though worried Adam would be pissed.
"Well Im not thrilled but also not surprised. All of that sounds productive for your career. Both on the streets and on the stage. Thats great. Got to say busy. How about we get this smake hating bad ass home for some loving?" Adam winked watching her blush. "Sounds like a plan." Kim picked up the trash throwing it out as they left. Adam was quick to wrap his arms around her as they left and headed back towards the car. "Not here. At home." Kim was stern since they were in public. "I hear ya! Lets go!" Adam laughed pulling her to the car. Kim started the car driving them back to the house. The giggles and soft touches continued till they got home. The connection that had been missing the last week. Neither was upset about it but they missed it. When they arrived home the moved quietly to the room they were sharing. They locked the doors falling into bed wrapped up together. Making love till Kim was sound asleep. Adam was thrilled to see she was asleep. He dressed and took the dog out before falling asleep with Kim in his arms.
The rollercoaster of a day seemed to be done but the next day would bring a new ride. That seemed to be the theme of this trip. But the couple was happy to have each other and their extended family to support them always.
