Nymphadora:
Nymphadora Tonks was still trying hard not to cry as she sat down for that night's order meeting. What she had seen was terrible; how could anyone do that to a child?
Tonks didn't know what she was going to say when Dumbledore asked what Harry was doing today, she knew he was supposed to have no contact with Hermione.
"Now, the first order of business," Albus started the meeting. "Where is young Miss. Granger, I have not seen her?"
Minerva hid her smile behind her hand, but Tonks saw it. "She refused to leave Harry."
Tonks knew this of course, she had seen the two teens outside Harry's residence and in the park.
"That will not do, Nymphadora, has she made contact with Harry?" Albus asked her.
"Yes." Tonks answered. "And don't call me Nympadora."
"My apologies." Albus said, not sounding apologetic in the slightest. "Minerva, can you stand guard outside the Granger residence for a bit every day and let us know if she leaves to visit Mr. Potter again?"
"No." Minerva said flatly.
"Excuse me?" Albus sounded taken aback.
"I said no. I support Miss Granger's decision to stay behind and I hope she goes to see Mr. Potter and they have a wonderful time together." Minerva said. "It is wrong to not allow Mr. Potter any information when he was the one to inform us You Know Who returned."
Anger flashed momentarily across Albus' features, but it passed so quickly Tonks was sure she imagined it. "I will go have a chat with her and inform her she will not be allowed to visit Mr. Potter."
"You do that," Tonks said. "She and Harry are no longer at their houses, they are camping together in a park in Surry."
"How come?" Snape asked. "Are Potter and Granger too good to go back to their guardians?" He sneered.
"No." Minerva answered. "Miss Granger lives too far from Mr. Potter for them to visit often and Mr. Potter does not have a good relationship with his relatives."
Snape rolled his eyes. "Did Potter not get the fifth bedroom he asked for?" He said sarcastically.
"He didn't, no." Tonks glared at the man. "All he got was a good beating and the cupboard under the stairs-" Then she shut up, the witch had not meant to let that slip.
There was silence for a moment, then several people spoke at once.
"Where?"
"What?"
"How did you know that?"
Albus put his hand up and silence fell again. "While that is unfortunate, he must remain with his family." The man said with a twinkle in his eye. "Why did young Mr. Potter tell you this?"
Tonks glared at the man, but she knew better than to argue. "He didn't, I overheard when he told Hermione."
"The boy is obviously lying." Snape sneered again.
"I saw the scars." Tonks said. "He was under an unbreakable vow to tell someone about the abuse and Hermione asked to see his back." The witch tried to blink back her tears. "It was terrible."
Albus ignored Snape and her argument. "Now, who knows where Miss Granger and Mr. Potter are staying?"
Tonks knew the answer, but she really did not want to tell Albus their private plans. "I am not sure, they said they'd 'play it by ear,' whatever that means." Tonks lied smoothly.
Albus nodded. "I want you to watch them when you can and I want Hestia to take over whenever you have to work."
Hestia rolled her eyes. "And my job, Albus?"
Albus smiled at her. "Then Mundungus can watch when both of you are busy." Albus said cheerily. "Minerva, can you and Severus talk to the Dursleys and Grangers respectively to find out where they could have gone?"
"Of course." Severus answered curtly.
Minerva rolled her eyes. "I was the one to apparate Miss Granger to Privet Drive, I was the last to see her. The Grangers have no idea, nor do I."
"You did not try to convince her to come here?" Albus asked, surprised.
Minerva glared at him. "I already told you I supported her decision, Mr. Potter should not be left alone at a time like this."
Albus smiled serenely at her. "He has his family."
The entire room - save Snape - were looking at their leader as if he had grown an extra head.
"Very well, thank you Minerva." Albus said, ignoring the stares. "Severus, now if you please?"
Snape rolled his eyes. "I need another to come with, I would be too tempted to jinx Tu-Petunia.
"Nymphadora?"
"Tonks." Tonks corrected the old man. "And okay, but I am leaving my wand here before Snape needs to hold me back."
Albus nodded. "Very well."
Tonks looked at the house in front of her. 'How could they hurt Harry?' She asked herself. 'And why did no one notice?' Tonks would likely never get an answer, but she would spend her whole life wishing.
"Let's go." Tonks' previous professor ordered.
Tonks picked herself up off the ground where she had, unsurprisingly, fallen, and followed Snape up the steps.
Three knocks later and a horse-faced woman was staring at the two guests. "Snape! Get off my property! Now!"
"Not now, Tuney. We have a few questions for you to answer." Snape answered.
'Tuney? Snape is a grown man, even I'm not that immature!' Tonks thought as she followed Petunia and Snape inside.
"Now, what do you freaks want? The boy isn't here." Petunia hissed at her guests.
Tonks rolled her eyes. "Where is he? We know he isn't here, we want to know if you know where he is."
Petunia nodded as her husband and son sat on the sofa on either side of her.
"Jail." The blond pig said as he munched on a baguette. "He murdered a woman."
The walrus man nodded. "That boy was a troublemaker and he thought he could use his freakishness to scare us."
Tonks raised an eyebrow. "We are not freaks and do not wish to be referred to as such." She said coolly.
Snape rolled his eyes beside her. "You obviously don't know Tuney, Tonks. She hates WITCHES, WIZARDS, MAGIC, and HOGWARTS."
Tonks was appalled to see how the three Dursleys flinched at Snape's words. How does Harry live here?
"Why do you believe he is in jail?" Snape asked.
"A girl came by, named herself as 'Winter Tale.' She said she was the daughter of an officer and she said the freak had murdered a woman and was to be in custody until further notice." Petunia said gleefully.
Tonks laughed. "I wondered what she was saying."
"You were at our house!?" The blond yelped.
Tonks nodded. "We were sent to make sure Harry was okay." She said icily. "Unfortunately, we were unable to see the dangers inside the house."
"Do you know that girl? And what danger is inside our home?" The purple man asked.
"The girl's name is Hermione Granger, her name comes from Winter's Tale, hence the anagram." Tonks explained.
"And the only 'danger' inside the house are you three child abusers." Snape added.
"I thought you didn't believe Harry was abused?" Tonks asked the man.
Snape rolled his eyes. "I looked in the cupboard under the stairs when we entered, there is indeed bedding. There are also no pictures of Potter and they obviously hate wixen." He explained to his former student testily.
"We are not child abusers!" Petunia yelled. "We would never hurt our Dudders!"
Dudders nodded along with his parents. "They are amazing parents!" The child exclaimed menacingly.
"You are not the only child here, Dursley. Potter is also a child and deserves care and respect." Snape said, his teeth bared.
"He is not a child, he's a freak!" The walrus disagreed.
Snape went to grab his wand but Tonks stopped him. "No! If you do magic here, they'll think it was Harry and he'll get into trouble with the ministry."
Snape lowered his wand slowly. "We will be having a look around, Tuney." He told the woman.
She nodded, her eyes trained on Snape's wand.
The two wixen stood up and prepared themselves for the horrors they knew they would see in Harry's room.
