Chapter 11: The Deadly Experiment

The next day, at Jerome Hortwiz Elementary School, it was Friday the 13th. Everybody was gathered at the gymnasium. Melvin was on the stage with various stuff. "Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, today, I'm going to partake in one of my most daring experiments. It seems our exchange students come from a family who stupidly believe in superstitions to the point that they let it rule their lives. So, I'm going to prove that the superstitions are all fake and that they're nothing but sissies. So I, Melvin Sneedly am going to do thirteen of the mist common superstitions that certain people believe in. If nothing bad happens, thirteen days after the experiment, it should prove that there are no such things as superstitions," announced Melvin. Luan and Lisa Loud were among those in the audience.

"First, I will walk under thirteen ladders, thirteen times," said Melvin. Everybody saw thirteen ladders were lined under with each other.

"That'll guarantee that he'll get bad luck," sneered Luan. Melvin walked under the thirteen ladders like he said he would. Once he did all that, everybody waited for see of bad luck would strike him. But it didn't.

"Now I shall break thirteen mirrors," said Melvin. Melvin pushed the first mirror and it toppled the rest like dominos. They all broke as they hit the floor.

"That idiot. Breaking a mirror means seven years bad luck. Since he broke thirteen, multiply that by seven snd he's gonna get ninety-one years worth of bad luck," said Luan.

"Now I shall walk through a crowd of thirteen black cats," said Melvin. He walked among a group of thirteen black cats. Still, nothing happened to him.

"Come on, bad luck. Stop goofing off and punish Melvin already," said Luan.

"Shh," said Lisa.

"Next, I will step on thirteen ladybugs," said Melvin. He got a jar full of the said amount of insects. After releasing them from the jar, he stepped on them, crushing them all. Melvin made thirteen cracks on the stage floor. "Now I'll step on these thirteen cracks, thirteen times," said Melvin. And he walked back and forth while stepping on the cracks, thirteen times. "Next, I'll spill thirteen salt shakers," said Melvin. He walked to a table that had thirteen salt shakers. He knocked almost thirteen down, spilling the salt them. "Now I shall open thirteen umbrellas inside the school," said Melvin. And he opened the umbrellas, one by one. After the umbrella opening, Melvin picked up thirteen pennies with the tail sides up. He then put a hat on a bed and put thirteen pairs of shoes on a table. The next things he did which superstitious people believed was bad luck was placing thirteen baguettes upside down. He also placed thirteen bunches of bananas on a boat. And last, but not least, he released thirteen birds inside the school.

"So, what happens next?" asked a first grader.

"We wait for thirteen days. And if no bad luck happens to me after the thirteen days have passed, it'll prove that the thirteen superstitions I did are all a bunch of hooey. And I'll record myself for thirteen days to prove that bad luck hasn't happened," said Melvin. Luan just snickered.

"The only thing you'll prove is that Lynn Jr. is right," said Luan.

And speaking of Lynn Jr., Lincoln had the principal bring her to the office so he could show her the footage of the real vandals. They had her watch every second of it. "So you see, Lincoln was the vandal. Those people in the video are. I think you owe Lincoln an apology," said the Principal.

"Apologize?! Never! He's the reason I recently got kicked off the Squirrels team!" said Lynn Jr.

"No, your own bad behavior did," said the Principal.

"Lincoln's poisoned your mind! I still think he hired the vandals!" said Lynn Jr.

"Very well, if you won't apologize to Lincoln, then I have no choice to suspend you for a month," said the Principal.

"A month?!" asked Lynn Jr.

"Your mindset of believing Lincoln is bad luck makes a bad atmosphere in this school. And the only way that the atmosphere can become good again is to drop that stupid mindset of yours. You and your family!" said the Principal. Lynn Jr. left in a huff. Lincoln met up with George and Harold after school.

"So, how did it go?" asked George.

"The principal and I showed the evidence to her, but Lynndiot still thinks I'm to blame by thinking I hired them. So the principal had her suspended for a month," said Lincoln.

"Well that's what she gets for refusing to accept the truth," said Harold.

"I hope the suspension will give her time to think about her bad actions," said Lincoln.

"Suspended?!" asked Luan & Lisa in their latest video call with their family

"Yes! More and more, Stinkoln is poisoning the minds of everybody! If this keeps up, Stinkoln will have everyone turn against us for good!" said Lynn Jr.

"So what do we do?" asked Lisa.

"Since all the squirrel suits are sold out everywhere and we can't wait for any ones we order online, mom and dad are making a homemade one. Once it's completed, we'll force Stinkoln into it and we'll never let him out of it again in order to ward our bad luck forever. And speaking of which, have any bad luck happened to Melvin?" asked Lynn Jr.

"No. It hasn't," said Luan.

"There's still thirteen days. Give it time and he'll be proven wrong," said Lynn Jr. overconfidently. Once again, George, Harold and Lincoln were spying on the Louds with the tiny cameras.

"What are we going to do? Lynn is sure to try to force me into that homemade suit after school despite her suspension," said Lincoln.

"Don't worry," said Harold.

"We'll ensure it won't happen period," said George.

Well, Melvin has executed his experiment to prove that superstitions and bad luck are all just mumbo jumbo. Plus, George and Harold showed video evidence that Lincoln is one of the vandals. But unfortunately, Lynn Jr. refuses to change her mind of who's fault it is. Next chapter, George and Harold must prevent the Louds from forcing Lincoln into another squirrel suit . . .
