Guess what? This chapter is finally more than 500 words, let's thank down-time for that. Can I be honest? I kind of…don't like my writing style, so there's more discovering on that part. So, if these chapters differ from writing style to writing style, its because I'm trying to find the one that fits the best. Thank you all for bearing with me :)!
Writing this chapter was fun, and hopefully you're ready for some Aanya and Ezra action!

Day 3 prompt: Kiss
DRAGON PRINCE
Being a queen was a lonely job, even against the stereotypical thought. There was of course many people who surrounded the queen and helped to delegate tasks. But she wasn't allowed to do anything that didn't require having someone there to watch her.
It was almost as if she was a child all over again
Aanya was that supposed queen yet was as lonely as the first. For someone who held the uttermost power, the young queen wished that she could have it all stripped away. Maybe then, she could finally experience a normal life, with normal people.
It seemed silly to the villagers, who wished that they could have the same power as her. But they just didn't realize how saddening it felt to always be truly alone.
That was until Ezra came into her life, bringing a sense of normality to it.
He was funny, he was smart, and just like her, a young child forced into the role of high power at such a young age. And even better, he was available. Except, she had never once loved a boy such as he and was far worried at ruining her chances with the young king.
It was probably better to stay friends
Then turn into enemies
That…was something that Aanya could not bear, nor think about. She couldn't lose Ezra, not now at least. He was one of the only truly normal things in her still life.
So, she packed up with a stone in her heart. Closing her bags while glancing at the soldiers staged in front of her door. Tears slipped down her soft cheeks, some resting in her dimples.
It was harder to say goodbye
Maybe one of the hardest things she'll ever have to do
It was for the better that they went their separate ways. Even if it pained the young queen to think of such things. Keeping the young king at arm's length would prevent an awkward encounter if Aanya ever decided to share her true feelings.
Which was never, at least she guessed
If only Aanya wasn't royalty, if only her parents were still alive. It would make things so much easier, so much real than it needed to be. Maybe then, she could say that she was human with normal tendencies. But she was only a queen, nothing normal was ever going to be gifted to her.
Even true love
So sad, but so true
Aanya's hands were clenched at her side, her feet shuffling a sad tune. Begging to stay even though it was so foretold that this was not her happy ending.
Bags rustling, her breathing heightened. She almost didn't hear the door creak, didn't almost hear the familiar footsteps she used to know, and almost didn't turn around.
"Aanya?"
His voice sounded small, far too tender. So much that it almost made her fall in love with him all over again.
No
You can't get close; you could ruin it all
"I have to go, I'm sorry." She grabbed her bags. "Thank you for your hospitality, I'll be sure to pay it back some day.
"Aanya…"
"I must go."
The young queen turned around and was about to leave the tense room when a hand shot out and grabbed her wrist. Aanya gasped, turning around to see Ezra staring back at her with his same pleading eyes. His smile had since long faded, leaving her to wonder what she said to upset him.
This was for the better, she couldn't afford to lose him
Then he spoke one word, and all her walls crashed to the floor.
"Why?"
How could she possibly tell him without making it sound like she was a full-blown coward? Because maybe, just maybe, she was a coward. She'd rather not risk anything than risk everything to break the mirror that she called fate.
"I don't know King Ezran."
Ezra frowned. "Please, call me Ezra."
"Sorry." Aanya apologized. "I'm scared to tell you, for I fear that it might ruin everything. But I must, now that you want to know. The truth is, Ezra, I admire you. Much more than I should. You've brought the light back into my life, and for that, I thank thee. But I know that as a queen, I cannot love. Not like they can."
"But you can, Aanya. There are no rules, no rulebook to tell you that you are to deny these feelings. You are human, and these feelings are valid." He grabbed her hands, guiding her to sit on the soft, plush bed.
"But what if you don't feel the same way?"
"Queen Aanya of Duren," he grabbed her chin, so that she could see his bright eyes. "Listen here and listen well. I, Ezra of Katolis, love you and want to make you the happiest girl on the planet. Will you let me?"
Aanya gently wiped away a nearby tear, letting out a relieved exhale as well. And to think that she wanted to almost leave this all behind.
"Yes," she whispered. "But where do we begin?"
"With this."
His gentle lips connected with her's; warmth spread between the both of them. Enchanting and leaving them wanting more. Aanya wrapped her hands around his neck to deepen the magical kiss, as his hands wrapped around her waist.
All too soon did they pull away, rendering them both giggling with glee, yet breathless at the same time. Their foreheads touched; their hands remained where they were. Ezra leaned in once more, as Aanya did as well.
It was a joyful time, as new things had been discovered.
So maybe Aanya was a coward, and maybe she had been scared. But she now had something worth more than gold, her true love. There was no rulebook, no rule on not being able to love.
And beyond it all, she knew that her parents were smiling from above. Silently clapping her on the shoulder for finally accepting that new part of herself.
Forever
