Day 6 Prompt: Growth

Nature was every part of Terry, as Terry was every part of nature

From a young age, the young elf had loved to swoop up against the earth, aiming to explore the skies. The tree's would scrap against his bare skin, laughter was pooled off in waves against the people's ears nearby. Terry's legs carried him far, often into the night.

That's when the firefly's came out. Lights of all kind would fill the night sky, bringing not just Terry to it, but all the other children nearby. There wasn't a care for them in the world, not there really ever was in that lifetime. All that had really mattered was tending to the earth, as the earth usually tended to them.

The grass created an itch in the children, to jump up and catch their own firefly's. Some did, some didn't. It really didn't matter; everyone was happy in that moment.

Terry was never one for the cold, but even then, he didn't mind the breeze that was often brought in with the midnight sky. It reminded the young elf on the earth's gracious way to cool down its occupants. That even the earth's rays were a constant reminder of the stable way of life.

A firefly reminded Terry of many things, although he really couldn't pick one. Maybe it was the light in the dark, even when it sounds impossible to think about. Or maybe it was that although Terry really had no one to call his own, he still had a handle on his own power.

But maybe it was because it brought people together, people oh whom he learned to call family. It was never the same group of kids, there were always a few visitors. Though the curiosity remained the same, everyone was always captivated by the firefly's littering the plains.

Terry was just happy that he could share it

Then there came the animals, a wonderous part of the forest. Though Terry really never knew every creature presented, he had a good memory on most. The best – at least in his opinion – was the birds, and their glorious song. There were days that he only sought out the birds, and there were days that they came to him.

It seemed that everything happened because it needed to be

Even then, even after everything that had happened with Aarvous. Terry had grown to understand how much he had grown through these past weeks. Just like the tree's that he had come to love. The elf knew his rings of life were expanding.

Line upon line

Story upon story

It wasn't stable, that was for sure. His girlfriend was no longer his girlfriend, he had killed a man - brutally he might add. And the songs that were once so prominent in his heart were gone. Without a trace.

His legs didn't carry him far that night, instead only to the castle's green plains. There were no children, unlike last time, and there were no birds.

But there was firefly's

One had landed on his hand, then another on his leg. Their little light's lit against the stark color of his clothing, a little light in his heart.

Maybe, just like the earth, there was going to be moments of unclarity. Moments where things seemed to be out of control, yet so beautiful at the same time.

His world was crumbling, but maybe in a way that it was considered rebuilding. Up until now, Claudia had been his whole world, that was something that he thought would never change. Except, Claudia was on her own path to self-discovery.

It was high time that he started his.
