(Previously in 'RWBY : The Hidden World' :)

At those words, Summer and Salem both groaned in annoyance while Ruby squealed in delight as she went to hug her father tightly, under the amused eyes of Fawkes and Cinder.

"Thank you, Dad !" the little girl said to her father before adding to the Phoenix

"Come on, Fawkes !"

With a melodious song that one could sense the amusement of, the noble bird flew after Ruby as she used her Semblance to rush upstairs, leaving rose petals behind everywhere. Cinder rolled her eyes in fond amusement before slowly going after the two, leaving behind the older adults.

"Taiyang ? Can you be a dear and see if Yang is sleeping ?" Summer asked her husband once she was sure Cinder was out of earshot.

The blond man blinked in surprise at the words and shot a questioning look at his wife before nodding when he saw the look in her silver eyes. Clearly, she wanted to be alone with Salem for a bit. Without a word, Taiyang made his way out of the kitchen, leaving the two women behind. Summer and Salem waited until they heard up climbing upstairs before looking at one another.

"Strange night, huh ?" the former Queen of Grimm asked her friend in an attempt to brighten the mood.

"Yes...and one that changes everything...Now that Ruby is going to Beacon, we must now keep our promise..." Summer replied back in a somber look, mixed with nervousness and slight dread.

Salem looked at her friend with sympathy as she also felt the same way.

The time for secrets was over...

Because of Ozpin (even if it was unintentional), Summer and Salem must now rethink their plan and prepare to reveal many things to not only

Ruby... but also Yang and Cinder.

The important question that both women asked themselves at that moment was HOW their children would react to her revelations.

00/(Present Time)/00

The next day, Salem, Taiyang, Summer, and Cinder watched as Yang and Ruby boarded the airship that would take them to Beacon Academy. The sky was blue and not a cloud stained the horizon. The breeze was cool and gentle and you could hear birds singing not far away. Other passengers could also be heard chatting enthusiastically.

Last night, after Ruby, Cinder, Fawkes, and Taiyang left the kitchen, Salem and Summer discussed their future plan of action regarding their children and the inevitable moment when they will have to reveal many secrets to them.

Despite hours of discussion, she couldn't decide on WHEN they should tell Cinder, Yang and Ruby. Taiyang, who returned soon after, tried to help them but to no avail.

But one thing was certain, these revelations cannot be made immediately. After all, Ruby and Yang were both going to Beacon Academy the next day. Both girls needed all the concentration at the moment. And then, once at Beacon, Summer and Salem wouldn't see them again for a while... except by scroll.

However, what they didn't know what that someone had heard their conversation… or at least the end of it.

And this person was standing right next to them right now.

This person was none other than Cinder Fall.

Last night, once she was sure that Ruby was peacefully asleep, she slipped out of the room as quietly as possible so as not to wake the young girl. Anyway, Ruby was under guard since Fawkes was perched not far from the bed, like a guardian angel.

Just as discreetly, she walked down the stairs before stopping abruptly when they heard her adoptive mother, aunt and uncle talking. At first she thought it was best to leave them alone but something caught her attention.

What was it?

Words. Curious, Cinder pressed herself against the wall, silently listening to the discussion in the kitchen. Salem, Taiyang and Summer were chatting about her, Yang and Ruby. A frown appeared on her face when she heard Summer talking about secrets to tell them. Cinder didn't know what those secrets were but one thing was sure, they must be really important.

Unfortunately, Cinder was unable to learn any more as she quickly had to flee the scene. For what ? Because Taiyang, Summer and Salem have all decided that they will talk about it again tomorrow... once the girls (Cinder included) are no longer around. At these words, Cinder smiled as a new goal appeared in her mind: she was going to demand answers...even if it means facing her family for it.

Which brings us back to present…

Cinder, Salem, Summer and Taiyang watched in silence, and with heavy hearts, as the airship flew away with the two youngest members of the family on board. Soon, once the machine was just a tiny speck in the sky, the little group turned around before leaving the area, starting their trip to return home. Suddenly, once she was sure no one else would listen to them, Cinder turned her amber eyes on Summer and Salem before asking in a firm tone.

"So, what are these secrets you wanted to reveal to me, Yang and Ruby ?"

You're probably wondering why Cinder chose the direct approach. Let's say she wanted to put pressure on her elders.

The reaction she got amused her greatly.

Salem and Summer seemed to be struck by lightning and were stunned for a moment and Taiyang looked a little pale. The reaction she got amused her a lot. Salem and Summer seemed to be struck by lightning and were stunned for a moment, and Taiyang looked a little pale. However, everyone looked at her with shock, surprise and fear. Cinder, seeing their expressions, was unable to hold back and laughed out loud.

"HA HA HA HA HA ! You should see your faces !" the ashen-haired young woman said with amusement while holding her stomach, laughing.

The words were able to break Summer, Salem and Taiyang out of their shocks and they stared at the younger adult with narrowed eyes. Unfortunately (for them at least), their looks only amused Cinder even more and they were forced to groan in annoyance and embarrassment while resuming their way back home.

Meanwhile, in the airship, Ruby felt like she was being crushed into oblivion as she was loosing air in her lungs. And for good reason, her older sister, Tang Xiao Long, was giving her the tightest hug in the history of Humanity.

Yang was a tall, fair-skinned young woman with lilac eyes and long, thick, wavy bright golden hair that fades to pale gold at the tips with a cowlick sticking out at the top. She was wearing an jacket that bares her midriff, with golden brown piping and short, puffy sleeves with black cuffs that feature two gold buttons.

Underneath this, she wore a low-cut yellow crop top with a drawing on the left breast in black. She was also wearing a brown belt covered by a pleated brown piece of material reaching from hip to hip around the back of her waist, with her emblem emblazoned on the right-most pleat in gold.

Underneath this was a long, white, asymmetrical piece of material reaching to her knee on the right side, as well as a pair of tight black spandex compression shorts that reach her upper thighs. In addition, she had a pair of brown, knee-high boots and orange over-the-knee socks, with the right sock pushed down just below the knee. A gray bandanna is tied around her left knee.

If Ruby inherited the cute side of the family, Yang sure got the beauty side.

"I still can't believe my baby sister is going to Beacon with me ! This is the best day ever !" Yang said for the hundredth time since she woke up this morning.

She woke up with a terrible hangover but quickly sobered up when Summer told her the news that Ruby was attending Beacon two years earlier. Needless to say that, despite her shock, the blond had been OVERJOYED by the news !

"Please stop !" Ruby replied back with a gasp as she felt like she was going to lose even more air from her lungs.

Fortunately for her, Yang did just that but she had a frown on her face, clearly she was upset with the demand "But I'm so proud of you !"

As the silver eyed girl took deep breathes to refill her lungs with fresh air, she answered her sister with a groan "For the hundredth time, sis, it was nothing !"

But clearly, Yang was not thinking the same.

"What do you mean ? It was incredible ! Everyone at Beacon is going to think you're the bee's knees !"

"I don't want to be the "bee's knees", okay ?! I don't want to be any kind of knees! I just want to be a normal girl with normal knees !" Ruby retorted with a pout, her eyes narrowed at her sister.

"What's with you ? Aren't you excited ?" Yang asked her with a frown of confusion while crossing her arms over her (generous) bust.

At those words, Ruby seemed nervous.

"Of course I'm excited... I just..." she began to say before releasing a deep sigh.

"I got moved ahead two years ! I don't want people to think I'm special or anything !" she added with slight despair in her voice.

Yang's confusion melted as a look of sympathy replaced it. Slowly, she approached Ruby before giving her sister a one-armed hug, saying gently

"But you are special...Everyone in the family think the same !"

Ruby smiled at her older sister, touched by her encouraging words but, before she could say anything back in response, her attention was drawn by something else : the newscast playing nearby. It was talking about the robbery and showing an image of Roman Torchwick being dragged by two policemen.

"The robbery was led by nefarious criminal Roman Torchwick, who was thankfully caught by the authorities ! Back to you, Lisa !"

The image turned into 'Lisa' with a photo of what looked like animal-eared demonstrators holding signs with "WE ARE NOT ANIMALS!" written on them and followed by an image of the logo of a growling red wolf's head with three scratch marks. Ruby instantly recognized the logo and listened carefully.

"Thank you, Cyril... In other news, this Saturday's Faunus Civil Right Protest turned dark when members of the White Fang disrupted the ceremony…The once peaceful organization has now disrupted..."

Unfortunately, the news were cut as an hologram replaced it. Ruby's eyes widened when she recognized who it was : it was Glynda Goodwitch.

"Hello, and welcome to Beacon !" The hologram said in a stern and firm tone, one that sent shivers down Ruby's spine as she remembered the last time she had met the woman.

"Who's that ?" Yang asked her sister with a frown of confusion.

Ruby opened her mouth to answer but the hologram was quicker.

"My name is Glynda Goodwitch…"

"Oh..." Yang grumbled in embarrassment while Ruby shot her a tiny smirk, amused by her sister's embarrassment.

"You are among a privileged few who have received the honor of being selected to attend this prestigious academy ! Our world is experiencing an incredible time of peace, and as future Huntsmen and Huntresses, it is your duty to uphold it ! You have demonstrated the courage needed for such a task, and now it is our turn to provide you with the knowledge and the training to protect our world !"

With that said, the hologram disappeared, leaving behind bewildered people. After that, Ruby and many other youngsters started crying in surprise as they looked through the windows.

"Oh, wow! Look, you can see Signal from up here ! I guess home isn't too far after all !" Ruby said while looking at the town below.

"Beacon's our home, now..." Yang commented gently while standing next to her sister.

The two then heard a groaning and they watched in silence (and slight disgust) as a blond young man hunched over nearby before running to the back of the ship.

"Well... I guess the view isn't for everyone..." Yang commented dryly while rolling her eyes.

"So it seems..." Ruby replied with a nod of agreement before looking back at the glass, deep in thought.

"Ruby ? Are you okay ?" Yang asked her younger sister in concern.

"I wish Cinder, aunt Sa-Selena, dad and Fawkes could be here with us..." Ruby said in a whisper but it was loud enough for the blond to hear.

"You know they can't come… As for Fawkes… Well, I'm sure he can… but he has to stay hidden, remember ?" Yang gently explained while giving another hug at Ruby.

"Beside, I'm sure we will see them eventually !"

And they will...and when that happens, their world view will change and terrible secrets will be revealed.

At the same time, on Patch Island, another, equally interesting conversation was taking place.

By the time they returned home, Cinder was confronted by Taiyang, Summer, and Salem. The three elderly people were a little embarrassed and frustrated for not having noticed the young woman the night before and after sternly reminding her that it was wrong to eavesdrop on an intimate conversation, they had no choice but to tell her reveal certain things.

Salem revealed her past to her adoptive daughter in detail. While Cinder knew her history with Ozpin, the ashen haired young woman did not know a thing about the Gods, her curse, the extinction of the first Humanity, and her years as Queen of the Grimm.

Needless to say that she had been greatly shocked by those revelations… along with the fact Salem and Summer were once enemies.

A long silence followed the end of Salem's explanations as no one was able to say a single word. Cinder was still processing what she just learned and the older adults were all too eager to let her think about those shocking revelations.

"Why ?" the young woman suddenly asked in a strong tone.

"Why what, dear ?" Salem asked her adoptive daughter with a frown of confusion, sharing a glance with Summer and Taiyang.

"Why did you hide this from us ?! Why didn't you tell us ?!" Cinder hissed with narrowed amber eyes, her teeth gritted in anger and slight pain.

Salem shot another look at her best friend before sighing deeply as she answered her daughter's question.

"I didn't do it before because you were too young...I didn't want such a secret to become a burden on you or Ruby and Yang...Summer and I thought it was best wait until all three are sufficiently responsible before revealing all this to you..."

Cinder glanced at her aunt, as if asking for confirmation. When Summer nodded, the ash-haired young woman closed her eyes as she let out a deep sigh, her tense body calming down a bit.

"I can understand that…" she whispered with a nod of acceptance before looking back at the two older women, her eyes narrowed again with suspicion.

"But those aren't the only things you've been hiding, are they ?"

Summer and Salem stiffened slightly and, after shooting a glance at one another, they calmed down slightly before sighing deeply in resignation again. Cinder was too smart for her own good. Predictably, she guessed there was more to this story than what they had just told her.

"They are… but we won't say anything for now..." Salem said in a firm tone.

Cinder growled a bit, her amber eyes narrowed but, before she could open her mouth to voice whatever she had in mind, Summer was faster.

"Don't take this the wrong way, Cinder, but we'd rather wait until Ruby and Yang are back home before we say more... It's not fair to leave them in the dark while you know our secret... Besides, consider it a big surprise for the three of you !" the last part was said in a somewhat joyous tone.

Cinder shot her aunt a blank look for a moment before nodding her head in reluctant acceptance, sighing deeply.

"Fine...I'll take your word for it...but you better keep your promise !"

"We will..." Salem said with a nod of acceptance and a small smile on her face.

"You know...I think you're taking all of this a lot better than I thought..." Summer commented with a curious raised eyebrow.

Curious about her words, Cinder shot a look toward her aunt before asking "What do you mean ?"

"I was sure you would try to burn us down for hiding this from you and the girls..." was her answer.

Hearing this, a smirk appeared on the ash-haired woman's face before she teasingly asked them "Oh? Could this be a request I'm hearing? Because it can be arranged~"

Summer and Salem looked at her with pale faces accompanied by expressions of horror and terror. Cinder looked at them for a few seconds, then couldn't help but laugh loudly, soon followed by Taiyang who found the scene rather comical. Realizing they were the butt of a joke, Salem and Summer looked at them with faces red with embarrassment.

After that, the rest of the day went smooth… even if Cinder was still a bit annoyed by still being in the dark about their big secret. However, she will have to wait…

Answers will come sooner or later.

She has to staid patient for now…

Even if she didn't like it.

As for Summer and Salem, they had to decided when they would reveal the truth to the trio… while wondering how they would take the news of the existence of a whole new world.

(To be continued…)
