Chapter 1
Pain, it was like liquid fire through his very veins. It was all Jushiro Ukitake could feel as his heart was ripped from his chest. So when he looked over his shoulder, horror and shock filled his body. The Arrancar kid, whose name was Wonderweiss, had his arm impaled through his chest from behind. When he pulled his arm back out of his body, there in his hand was Jushiro's own heart. Causing his lifeless body to fall from the sky and slam into the ground below. Thus ending the life of Jushiro Ukitake, the Captain of the 13th Division.
When Jushiro Ukitake next opened his eyes, he had found himself in an oddly but rather familiar void of mist. As he stood up to look around he came face to face with Mimihagi, the right hand of Adnyeus, the Soul King. He had always been aware of his future role as the sacrifial lamb so to speak. But he didn't think he would die so soon before that time came. Jushiro dropped down to one knee, kneeling down before Mimihagi. "How may I be of service to you Mimihagi-Sama?"
Jushiro Ukitake, Captain of the 13th Division and the host of my right hand. You have died long before it was time to fulfill your role. I have chosen you as my avatar.
"Avatar of what if I may ask Mimihagi-Sama?" He had always known he was a host, willingly at that. It was the only thing that had saved his life as a child. He had read the history behind the Quincy War, the true history as had Shunsui Kyoraku, his best friend. There was a very big chance that there may be another one in the near future. When Retsu Unohana explained it to him and Shunsui, both could read between the lines.
The magical world is in turmoil. Death of many souls has upset the balance. You are to be my avatar within the magical world. Given a new life, you will be allowed to keep both your memories and your abilities. Your ties to the Soul Society and that of the Gotei 13 will remain intact. Your skills and your compassion are needed to tip the scales back to where it needs to be. To renew the Balance, bring back what is lost. You are my avatar of balance, of life and death. You will be a True Balancer.
Jushiro bowed his head, knowing this was an immense amount of responsibility. There was more to it but Adnyeus was known to do what he thinks is best. "Your will shall be done Mimihagi-Sama." Looking up at the right hand, he was glad that his ties to the Soul Society and his best friend would get to remain intact. All he could do was wait for his reincarnation to happen.
Good luck in your new life Jushiro Ukitake.
Jushiro felt his eyes grow heavy and body began to fall. It was no time at all when he fell unconscious. Allowing Andyeus, the Soul King, to do what he needs to do.
When next he opened his eyes, it was to a beautiful dawning sky. The air was cold and he was wrapped in a warm blanket. He felt a slip of paper on his chest, tucked into his blanket and realized it was a letter. That's when he took note of the fact his body was small, meaning he was an infant. With all the research he had done, Jushiro knew that reincarnation was uncharted territory. No one really knows whether in their next if they would remember their past life or not. It was thanks to his millennia long service to the Gotei 13 and because of the right hand, Mimihagi-Sama that he was able to keep his memories. It was his hope that in this new life and his new task, that he will not be inflicted with his previous lung illness. It wasn't guaranteed but Jushiro had hope that his new body was the answer to that problem.
The shrill scream had him moving his head to look at the woman who had opened the door. If he had to guess, this woman was his aunt. But that led him to question where his parents where. A part of him already knew the answer but this young body just wouldn't let him believe what he already knew to be true. Jushiro just hoped that this situation wouldn't turn into a bad one. Should his illness make a comeback, he would be in a position to have more support. That is if his new family didn't hate him or anything of that nature. He closed his eyes as he felt his new body grow heavy with the need for sleep. Weak in the form of an infant, the constant need for sleep. As his lids lowered, he held hope and determination in his heart.
A decade has passed now since Jushiro Ukitake has been reincarnated. He has learned many things during his time with his family. Petunia Dursley, his aunt, had long since given up on her hatred of magic and told him about his parents. About the magical world he would soon be joining. He was born one Harry Potter, son of James and Lily Potter. In his humble opinion he preferred his original name more. He had not regained his illness thankfully so it made things easier for him. Jushiro had also changed physically, his hair regained its black color. Only it grew much longer and was darker than it used to be. His eyes on the other hand went from being brown to a bright green, as bright as Gin Ichimaru's blue eyes were.
He had spent many years training his body and his mind. Honing his skills so that he wouldn't be defenseless. Sadly he had not yet been able to hear Sogyo no Kotowari. Though he couldn't hear his Zanpakuto, he could feel the twin fish in his soul. That alone lifted his spirits as he waited for his Soul Reaper family to learn he was alive and reincarnated. He missed Shunsui, Retsu and Yamamoto so much. His best friend, his mentor and his father figure. No matter the time or distance, they were his true family and he missed them dearly.
Jushiro had also become somewhat of a big brother to most of the children in the neighborhood. Age didn't even come into play then, he did what he could to help the other children. He would often help the older kids with their homework and watch over the younger ones as they played. What had him confused, if not a bit thankful, was the lack of Hollows. None ever seemed to appear in the area and he was relieved by that. Yet his reiatsu had returned to being above Captain level. He knew that Hollows would have been drawn to this area. And yet none ever came which baffled him to no end. Jushiro would spend many a night on his family's roof guarding over their sleep. The Dursley's didn't know about his past and of how he had died. They didn't know that he wasn't truly Harry Potter. He was going to keep it that way for as long as he could. It made him think of Isshin Kurosaki, the former Shiba and how he had hidden away in the World of the Living. His son, Ichigo Kurosaki surely lived up to his legacy that was for sure.
Jushiro had prepared the best he could for his upcoming journey into the magical world. He just hoped that he could become the avatar that Mimihagi-Sama needs him to be. Only time will tell, Jushiro Ukitake would always wish to protect the innocent.
