"Why...why are we in Wars' time?"
"I don't know, hopefully the castle will give us answers"
"Right"
The group heads to the castle and is greeted by Impa
"It's good to see you six"
"Impa, what's going on?"
"Come, I'll tell you what I know on the way, but...I also need to prepare you"
"Impa?"
Impa shakes her head and simply walks with the group following, and Time realizing where they were heading first
"Impa, why are we headed to the infirmary?"
"Because that's where Four and Wild currently are, Four is...it's not good, Wild's in a better state but even with healing items he has a ways to go before he's completely healed"
"Impa, what happened?"
"No, not until you can hear it from them if possible, I won't go telling you what they might want to say for themselves"
Once they entered the infirmary they realized it was bad, Four was connected to equipment keeping him alive and while Wild wasn't as bad off, he was still obviously pretty bad off
"Wild"
"Time...guys, I thought..."
"Wild...are you okay to explain what happened?"
"It...we were doing fine, and then we were captured and...he's back Time, but...wrong, under the control of the enemy"
"Wild?"
"Wars...Wars is alive and an enemy, he almost...if not for Impa and the army we would have lost Four Time"
"I...I see, there's...there's things I have to reveal to you guys, regarding the day we thought we lost Wars, but not until Four can also hear it"
"Then I think I should try and heal him with my spell"
"Be careful Hyrule, don't push yourself"
"I know Time"
Hyrule would manage to heal Four enough that he no longer needed life support, though it still took a few days for him to be coherent
"Time, you said you wanted to talk to us about Wars' final moments?"
"Yeah, Wars...I think Wars knew this was a possibility. As he was dying he warned me that there might be other assassins and traitors waiting to make their move against Zelda, Impa or even us and also worried about sorcerers though I didn't realize it at the time since he was vague about that part he also...he had regrets regarding not saying goodbye to everyone and only me, though he was glad that at least I managed to say goodbye this time instead of the last time we parted after a fight against traitors which was towards the end of the war"
"Mask, why didn't you warn us of the possibility of the Captain being brought back to life?"
"Simple Impa, not only was he vague, he told me a long time ago that he had taken measures to prevent something like that from happening, the fact that those measures got circumvented is worrying to be honest"
"When did he tell you that? I don't remember him talking about serious things with you when you were young"
"It was shortly after we were reunited and I finally revealed myself to him"
"Ah"
Impa thinks about it and then sighs before speaking
"Oh Time, the Captain...Link did have a means of preventing his revival by a spell, and it should have worked, but Cia...shortly after his death Cia told us that the measures Link had taken were not completely fool proof and could be circumvented under the right circumstances, though she didn't know what those circumstances were, Lana confirmed that they had found out this information mere minutes before the Captain died and by the time they had arrived it was too late to warn Captain Link about it, or the fact that she didn't know the circumstances which he could be brought back to life despite his wishes"
"I...I see, I apologize then for not warning anyone of the possibility of Wars being revived somehow even if he was vague about the possibility due to him dying"
"You couldn't have known Time, is there anything else about...about that day you want to tell your brothers in private?"
"Yes actually"
"Then we shall leave you be"
Once alone Time gives the group the full details about the day Wars had died, including his last words that Wars had wanted all of them to hear
"It..it wasn't a nice death, he fought to have his final words spoken, I begged him to not speak and to hold on, that help was coming, he didn't listen though"
"Why...why did you lie and tell us that his death was quick?"
"I didn't want you to imagine what it was like, and I knew that knowing his death was slow would hurt you like it was already hurting me, I never meant to hide it for so long but...I also knew that we needed time to heal and not have nightmares about that day, at least not as frequently as we were at the time"
"You...you did the right thing ultimately, even if we aren't happy about it"
That night a lot of emotional healing was done by the group and the next day the group talked with Zelda and Impa about how to free Wars from the control of the person who had him, and what to potentially expect as well
"The most likely option is having to say goodbye to him once again, are you truly prepared for that possibility?"
"At least all of us will have that chance if that's what happens"
"Very well, but there's a chance a portal will open before we find him again"
"We know, but hopefully Hylia allows us the chance to free him before we're forced to move on again"
"We can only wait and see"
"I have people looking for him, the army knows what happened with the Captain, it was unavoidable unfortunately, but they also know that it's not his fault and that a sorcerer is to blame"
"That's...something anyways, they also know to be careful if they come across him right?"
"Yes"
"Good, do you have people prepared to help those that come across Wars while he's...in his current state?"
"Yes, though the army of course doesn't truly understand my precautions, after all..."
"He kept it secret from everyone except us due to the circumstances"
"Not like he could hide it but...it wasn't a pleasant experience, and his demands...at the time they made sense, but now..."
"Now more are going to find out"
"Exactly"
"Uh, what exactly are you two talking about Time?"
Time sighs heavily which told the group it wasn't good
"Wars...he's been under enemy control before, though besides Zelda, Impa and I, very few know about the incident, but in any case when he's in situations like this he...he's like Wild, except worse"
"How can he be worse than me Time? I completely forgot everything and if not for Zelda calling for me by name I might not have even known that after I woke up from the Shrine"
"That's exactly the thing Wild, he doesn't know his name, if he even hears us, he doesn't even know he's Hylian, all he knows is that the person who has him under their control is his master and he'll do whatever it is they ask of him, even...even acting like an animal"
Impa takes over realizing that Time was started to flashback to the memory and not capable of continuing the explanation that was needed
"You of course know about Cia, since we gave you the basics of the war when you first arrived in this era and recruited the Captain, we did not however go into details regarding Cia, only stating that she was the one who initially started the War over the Captain because of her duty. She was a sorceress and she put the Captain under her control once after...a time of captivity for him. She made the Captain fight us and almost kill himself, plus she...before the fight she made him act like a dog on display, with him on all fours and actually barking like he was a dog. And during the fight it...got ugly and Mask...I mean Time almost had to deal the killing blow to free him from Cia. It was bad, and the aftermath of that fight wasn't pretty either, he was completely feral for a time after we got him back since her last command to him before being defeated and returned to Lana was to forget everything he ever knew in regards to being Hylian or in the military. We eventually brought him back but...it wasn't easy and Ganondorf gained strength during that time, which was unavoidable but a pain to deal with"
"That's what they need to be aware of, the fact that he won't answer to them, won't hear them, or any of their pleads if they know him well"
"Exactly, and again, they don't truly understand what I told them since I tried to keep it vague, but it was the only way to respect his privacy still as much as I possibly could under the circumstances"
"While giving them some sort of warning, and the fact that he's a traitor doesn't sit well with them either does it?, even if it's not his fault it's due to a resurrection spell"
"That actually makes it worse, especially for those that helped us rescue Four and Wild and saw his actions"
That afternoon a portal opens up and forces the group to leave Wars' era before they could find Wars again, and they wouldn't return for several months, during which time Four and Wild explained that they hadn't originally been in Wars' time period, but a different one, that they had been sent to the Captain's era only after they had dealt with the trouble in the era they had first wound up in
"We didn't know it was Wars' era initially, we only found out when we were captured by the sorcerer, though we still thought Wars was dead. It was two days into captivity that we found out otherwise and Wars...well he didn't hear us, like you explained before Time, but we thought he had because it was like he reacted to our voices whenever he hurt us and we cried out, but that could have been the enemy ordering him to act like that. Still...if not for Impa and the men we wouldn't be here now"
"It probably was the enemy, they wouldn't have wanted Wars to act suspicious in front of potential Sheikah spies after all"
"Yeah, a trap well hidden, though the Sheikah knew that Wars was dead, everyone knew that so how..."
"Did the enemy say anything about how he was brought back? I mean, in a way that was different from the way Impa explained things which was extremely vague in the first place"
"Not exactly, the only thing that they mentioned that Impa didn't was that the ingredients were rare and timing was key, that was when Wars wasn't in the room, but nothing on how they have control over him or if it's a permanent spell or if we'll...if we have to..."
"Right, we'll tell Impa this when we next see her then, maybe...maybe it might help free Wars, or at least give her answers as to how his precautions were circumvented in a way that even Cia and Lana couldn't figure out"
"Okay, I just hope it's soon"
"Same"
"I also hope it works even if...if we lose him"
"Yeah"
A month later the group actually lands in Wars' Hyrule and more specifically the castle grounds, which quickly gets them arrested until Impa manages to find out about them and frees them. Afterwords Wild tells Impa about the information regarding how Wars was brought back to life that they were aware of anyways
"I see, it fits with the information that I've received recently regarding a recent fight against the Captain"
"Impa?"
"The person who has control over the Captain joined in the fight directly last time it came down to a fight between us and Captain Link, stating that the Captain was too valuable to lose and that he'd had to wait for the right moment to gain control over his remains, and...that he wouldn't be able to do it again even if he wanted to if we killed the Captain"
"So...it's permanent, the alignment was just right and if we kill him..."
"Yes, we lose the Captain forever"
"I see...better that then..."
"Yes"
"Do you know if we'll..."
"No, but I've been looking into the spell since that fight and with this new information regarding specific ingredients I might know how to narrow it down just enough to find the spell and perhaps find a way to reverse it without killing the Captain"
"That's...thanks General, I hope you succeed"
"Same here Time, same here"
Ultimately the new information gives Impa the missing piece she needed and she found the spell and called everyone, but Zelda to her office immediately afterwords
