My version of retelling the FGO story, where Gudako is the main character and actually does something because let's be honest, in the game she's just paper for a lot of time, especially in the early-game. Why Gudako and not Gudao? I read the Shimousa manga (infinite) and I can't get it out of my head. And we already have a somewhat-so characterization of Gudao in another manga and anime, so he's already a bit busy. I'll change a few things in my version, like the other Servants (she won't be Elizabeth 3 times but in different clothes) and a few things about the plot (Londinium was a bit too boring). I'll see how far I can go with it and how much I'll change it.

Prologue – Chaldea

"Fou? Kyou..."

"What is it?" - said Ritsuka 'Gudako' Fujimaru as she felt something lick her cheek. With an effort, she opened her eyes and saw a strange squirrel-like creature licking her cheek. With a slight effort, she stood up and saw a young girl her age with lavender hair in front of her.

"...Senpai, are you okay?" asked the girl.

"Um... Yeah. Just tired. Thanks for your concern." replied Ritsuka, then quickly added - "Who are you anyway?"

"That's a difficult question to answer suddenly." - began the girl - "Maybe I'm not important enough for you to know my name?"

"...what?"

"No, I have a name. I have a real name. But I've never had the chance to use it... I'm afraid I don't leave a good first impression... Uh. Anyway, can I ask Senapi a question?"

"Only if you answer my previous question first."

"Oh... I'm Mash Kyrielight. And my question is, why were you sleeping in the hallway?"

"Ohh..." - that was Ritsuka's only response for a few seconds until she finally rubbed her head in shame and said - "I honestly don't know. I went through that simulation at the beginning and then I just ran out of energy."

"It must be the simulation. It's based on Spiritron Dives and is especially tiring for the unprepared. No wonder you fainted, Senapi."

"Fou. Mmktu, Fou!" - suddenly said the creature that Ritsuka had just noticed was sitting on Mash's shoulder.

"Oh." - Mash said - "This squirrel-like creature is called Fou. It is a Privileged Life-Form that has been allowed to roam freely around Chaldea."

"Fou." - the small creature says as it jumps off Mash's shoulder onto the floor and runs away.

"Well, at least it's cute." - Ritsuka said.

"It normally doesn't get close to anyone but me, but it seems to like you, Senpai. Congratulations. You will now be Fou's second guardian in Chaldea."

"Oh. I'm honored." - Ritsuka said sincerely.

Suddenly, a man in a green suit and cap approached them, who quickly noticed the two girls and addressed them - "Mash, you know you shouldn't wander around without permission. And you, oh, you must be one of the newbies that have been assigned here. I'm Lev Lainur and I work as one of the technicians."

"Fujimaru Ritsuka, nice to meet you." - Ritsuka replied, bowing slightly.

"Ahh. You're the last of the 48 candidates. How long was your training? Given the lack of time, I'd say less than a year. Maybe even 6 months?"

"Umm... not very long."

"Dr. Lev." - Mash butted in - "Senpai only arrived a few hours ago and has only had one simulation. He's only got a few minutes in the simulator at most."

"Ohh? Well... I see. We had an emergency opening for candidates to fill in the numbers, but I didn't know we'd get such a complete novice." - Lev said, and Ritsuka tried not to look embarrassed, but Lev continued - "Anyway, we need all of you. Both the 38 elite magicians and the 10 public candidates. Gathering candidates who are both capable of Spiritron Dives and becoming Masters is tough. If you need anything, you can ask me or Mash at any time. Hmm... Now that I think about it, I had to interrupt your conversation. Did you know each other before?"

Mash quickly replied - "No. I just found Senpai sleeping here, so..."

"Sleeping?" - he asked in surprise, then laughed - "Ah, it must be because of the simulation. Yes, Spiriton Drives can get to you if you're not used to them. You must have gone through some kind of sleepwalking and fell here. It looks like you're okay, but it's best if you go to the infirmary just in case... Sorry, just hold on a little longer. The principal's orientation is about to start."

"Orientation?" - Ritsuka asked, looking at Mash.

"Yes. The Director would like to welcome the candidates who arrived today, such as you, Fujimaru." - Mash replied.

"In other words, the big boss should welcome the careless newbies like you, and since the Director is not the type to forgive and forget, I advise you not to be late." - Lev said.

"When and where is it?" - Ritsuka asked quickly, surprised.

"In five minutes, at the Command Room." - Lev replied.

"But I don't even know where the Command Room is." - Ristuka said.

"Don't worry, Senapi." - Mash said - "I'll take you."

"Thanks, Mash." - Ritsuka said quickly, then felt a slight headache - "I just hope I don't fall asleep on the way."

A few minutes later.

"Ow." - Ritsuka said, rubbing her cheek - "Lev wasn't kidding. The Director really got mad."

"Well, Senpai, you fell asleep during the lecture." - Mash replied calmly, who was leading Ritsuka to her room with Fou on her head.

"And by the way, Mash, why do you call me Senpai? You've been here longer than me." - Ritsuka asked suddenly.

"Because everyone here is my Senapi." - Mash replied as if nothing had happened - "A. This is your room. Fou will take care of you now. I have to go back. We will start our first mission soon." "I understand." - Ritsuka replied as Fou jumped onto her shoulder - "Thanks for the help."

"No problem." - Mash replied and then left.

The first thing Ritsuka noticed when she entered the room was a young man with orange hair in a white apron eating a cookie on the bed. As soon as he noticed her he pointed at her with a fork and started talking - "What? Wait! Who are you!? And why did you come to my place to slack off."

After a moment of silence, Ritsuka said - "So, Mr. 'slacking off', who are you really and why did you have to choose my room as your place to slack off?"

"Your room? Ah. You must be the last candidate. I'm the head of the medical department, Romani Archaman, but everyone calls me Dr. Roman. I don't know why they call me that, but it's probably because of my hard-to-pronounce name."

"And the head of the medical department has to slack off like that?"

"Hey. It's not my fault the Principal threw you out of the command room. Something about 'When you're here, Romani, everyone slack off!'"

"Well, you're not alone." - Ritsuka said, then walked over to a nearby chair and sat down. "She threw me out for fainting during her lecture. It's not my fault that the whole Spiritron Drive thing got to me. And by the way, I'm Fujimaru Ritsuka."

Ritsuka and Dr. Roman shook hands, then Roman saw Fou on Ritsuka's shoulder and quickly turned his attention to him - "Is that Fou? Mash told me about him, but this is the first time I've seen him. Maybe I'll teach him some tricks."

"Fou!" - the creature replied as if offended.

"You pissed him off quickly." - Ritsuka said, looking at the doctor accusingly.

"Well." - Romani said a bit embarrassed - "Maybe now we can deepen our acquaintance, as two people the Director is pissed off at."

"Why not."

"Hooray! I'm in a friend's room."

"We haven't come that far yet." - Ritsuka thought, but she didn't want to tear the doctor out of her dreams, so she just went with it.

Some time later, the two were playing Monopoly with each other, while Roman explained how Chaldea worked - "... So this is the structure of Chaldea. An underground workshop built on a snowy mountain 6,000 meters above sea level."

Suddenly, the communicator's voice rang out, interrupting the doctor's explanation. After activating, Lev's voice came over the communicator - "Romani, we're about to start Rayshift. Could you come in case of an emergency? Team A is doing well, but the rest aren't feeling well. Probably because of all the nervousness. The inside of Coffin is like a cockpit."

"Hey Lev, I feel sorry for them. Why don't you give them anesthesia?" Roman said.

"Yeah, hurry up, okay? If you're in the infirmary, you should be there in 2 minutes." Lev said, then hung up.

"... and you're hiding and slacking off at my place." - Ritsuka said.

Romani at least had the decency to look embarrassed. "Wow… please don't mention it… It'll take 5 minutes from here, no matter what… Well, I guess they'll forgive me for being late since Team A has no problems anyway. Oh, this guy is Lev Lainur. He's the mage who created the Near-Future Observation Lens, Sheba-A, used to observe that pseudo-planet, Chaldeas."

"The blue sphere in the command center?" Ritsuka asked.

"That's it. Sheba not only watches over Chaldeas, but also serves as the surveillance system for most of the facility. Furthermore, it was the previous director who built the summoning/recall system that is the basis of Rayshift technology. In order to make this theory a reality, Atlas Academy provided the Pseudo-Spiritron Calculation Engine – essentially a supercomputer. All of these various talents were gathered to carry out this mission. There's no point in an ordinary doctor like me being there, but if I'm called away, I have to go."

"Yes, a very ordinary one, not the head of the entire medical department." Ritsuka snorted.

"Anyway." Romani interrupted, slightly embarrassed. "Thanks for spending time with me, Fujimaru."

"Now that we're friends, you can call me by my first name."

"Alright, Ritsuka-chan. Once you're settled in, come to the infirmary. Next time, I'll treat you to a delicious cake."

Suddenly the lights went out and before either of the two could say anything, an explosion could be heard in the distance and the PA system began to broadcast - "Emergency! Emergency! Fire has broken out at the Central Power Plant and Central Command Center. Central Area Security Wall will be activated in 90 seconds. All personnel must leave Gate 2 immediately. Repeat. Central Power Plant and-"

Romani responded quickly - "Computer, show the command room!"

The screen showed the command room, but the once blue room was now a mixture of orange and yellow from the fire in the area. Ritsuka didn't see anyone on the screen and her thoughts quickly went to Mash.

Romani quickly came to his senses and said - "Ritsuka, evacuate immediately. I'm going to the command room. The containment wall will close soon so run while you can."

Roman ran out and Fou watched from his place on the bed, staring at Ritsuka who had the same thought - "I know. We're going to save Mash."

"Fou!" - the determined creature shouted and they both ran after the doctor, quickly catching up with him.

"Wait, what are you doing? The gate is in the opposite direction!" - Romani shouted.

"So what?" - Ritsuka replied.

"You're coming with me! But it's dangerous! Although an extra pair of hands will come in handy. Just watch yourself. The safety of the rescuer must come first."

They both ran into the Central Command Room and the heat immediately hit them. "This is where the explosion occurred. No survivors, only Chaldeas is safe. This was not an accident, this was sabotage." Romani declared, anger clearly evident in his voice.

The PA system activated again - "Generator operation stopped. Critical level. Switch to backup generator, error. Switch manually. Protective wall will close in 40 seconds. The rest of you in the Central Area, evacuate immediately-"

"...I'm going to the underground power plant. We can't let the light of Chaldea go out. Hurry and come back this way. You can still do it. Listen, don't stop anywhere on the way! Go outside and wait for help!"

Ritsuka just stared at the inferno that killed Mash and countless others with anger that someone could have done this on purpose. Romani wouldn't notice because he had already run out to activate the backup generator.

"Oh shit!" - Ritsuka shouted and ran into the fire, shouting around, trying to find any survivors.

Public address system - "System switching to final Rayshift phase. Coordinates, AD 2004, January 30, Fuyuki, Japan. Laplace shift protection has been established. An additional Singularity factor slot has been secured. An unsummon program has been established. Please begin final adjustments."

Meanwhile, Ritsuka heard a small 'oh' and found Mash there, who was pinned under a piece of rubble.

"Hang in there, I'll pull you out in a moment." - Ritsuka said, trying to lift a rock larger than her body.

Mash just said slowly - "Everything is... Okay. You can't... save... me. Don't worry about me, please... Run."

Rituska didn't listen, she continued to try to lift the rock, tears streaming from her eyes.

Then Chaldes began to glow like a fireball and the PA system boomed again - "Warning to all observation personnel. Chaldea's condition has changed. We are now transcribing Sheba's near future diagnostic data. Human existence cannot be detected 100 years into the near future on Earth. Human survivors cannot be confirmed. Humanity's future cannot be guaranteed."

Mash watched and said quietly - "Chaldea... It has turned bright red... No, it doesn't matter, it's-"

PA system - "Central zone, locked down. 180 seconds to complete internal lockdown procedure."

Mash began speaking again - "...they have locked down this area... Now we can't get out."

At this Rituska realized that they were both about to die and stopped her efforts, accepting the situation - "That's right, we are in the same situation now."

After that, Ritsuka sat down next to Mash and the PA system broadcast another announcement - "Coffin Vitals: Masters. Base level not reached. Rayshift requirement not met. Searching for eligible Master... Found. Candidate #48, Fujimaru Ritsuka registered as Master. Unsummon program, start. Spiritron Conversion, start."

Ritsuka and Mash began to glow with golden light, but neither of them noticed. Instead, they both stared at the flames.

"Um... Sen.. pai?" - Ritsuka said suddenly - "Could you... hold my hand?"

"Sure." - Ritsuka replied without hesitation.

PA system - "Rayshift starts in 3... 2... 1..."

"Sorry, Mash." - Ritsuka said as tears fell from her eyes.

Public Address System - "All procedures are in order. First Order, commencing operation."

Suddenly, a golden flash appeared in front of the dying girls, blinding them until they both felt like they were falling. Before Ritsuka could say anything, she lost consciousness.
