The next few hours were stressful, everyone went out searching for Sophia, except for myself, Dale, Lori, Carl and Shane. They made Carol stay behind with us incase Sophia came back. I tried my hardest to keep Carol occupied but it was really hard going. Rick came back to see if there was any news, but we hadn't seen the rest of them. Carl kept going on and on that he wanted to go and search for Sophia as she was his friend. After a kick off from lori and talks with Rick, they eventually decided to let him go. Shane decided it was best he tagged along too just incase. Lori didn't look happy about it, but clearly there was nothing she could do without raising questions. I bit my tongue and headedd back inside the Rv. I decided to enlist Carol into cleaning the Rv with me and sorting all the cupboards to make it nice for Sophia when she came back. But at this point my hope was fading fast, but I didn't dare say a word. Glen came back with Tdog, whose arm was bleeding pretty bad. I grabbed him and found he had sliced it pretty bad, and looked like he had lost a lot of blood. I found some bandages and other first aid things, that we had scavanged from the ambulance further up the freeway. I took him into the Rv and tried to patch him up as best I could, and it seemdd to have worked as the bleeding looked like it had stopped.
"Thank you" Tdog said.
"No problem, I hope it works" I smiled.
Just then, Andrea came back, she had gone scavenging further up the freeway for some water and food, as we were running low.
"Any news?" she asked.
"No nothing. Rick came back and took Carl and Shane with him" I replied. Andrea's eyes widened. I think she was as shocked as anyone that they had allowed Carl to go.
Just as she was un packing the bag, she had filled up we heard a gunshot in the distance.
"What the hell was that?" I asked with a sick feeling washing over me.
"Maybe thy were just killing a walker?" Andrea said.
"For one walker? None of them would wase a bullet for one walker" I snorted.
Lori came running into the Rv, "did you guys hear that?" she asked.
"Yeah, I'm sure it's nothing to worry about" I lied.
"Don't lie to me mia, I know when you're not being honest with me" she replied.
"Truth is I can't be sure, but I don't want to get everyone worried. We can't know for sure, but let us hope for the best" I smledd.
We waited, for anymore noises, or anyone to come back and for a while there was nothing, not a peep. Then all of a sudden out of nowhere we heard the sound of a galloping horse along the tarmac. Everyone got their weapons out, when a woman came riding a horse into view welding a baseball bat.
"Which one is Lori Grimes?" she screamed.
"Me" Lori piped up.
"You need to come with me there's been an accident with your son" She said, coming to a stand still next to her. In one swift movement she pulled Lori onto the back of the horse.
"I will get someone to come and get you to follow them to the farm" The woman said, before taking off into the distance.
For the next few moments not one person spoke, it was total shock and I wasn't even sure if what happened had really just happened.
"What the fuck just happened?" Andrea said in total shock.
"Your guess is as good as mine" Glen added.
"Well I'm not leaving" Carol said stubbornly.
"I think we should all stick together" I piped up.
"And what if Sophia comes back here, and I'm not here?" Carol asked getting emotional.
"Look we can leave a sign and some supplies for her in one of the cars, and we can come and check back every day for her. That woman looked clean and well looked after, this has got to be a better safer place than where we are now. We are just sitting ducks, and what use would you be to Sophia if you're dead, a walker or dehydrated, because that is what will happen if we stay here much longer" I said.
Carol didn't say a word for a while, then when she spoke her voice broke. "I suppose you're right, but you promise me we will come back everyday?" she asked.
"Promise" I said rubbing her arm.
I began cleaning one of the cars out next to the Rv, all the time I felt sick with worry about what had happened to Carl. I couldn't take it if he was dead. Carl was my little buddy, I very often had him for a sleep over and he called me Auntie Mia. I thought about how Rick was feeling and I began to cry. It wasn't in my nature usually but I prayed, prayed for Carl, Rick, Sophia and Carol.
