Chapter 8

Michael, Lisa and Stevie got out of Stevie's Dad's car in front of Carol Hanson's place. Micheal looked up at the house and shook his head. He Lisa and Stevie had been invited over to the Lenoir-Hanson place for movie night.

"How did I let you talk me into this," he said turning to Stevie and Lisa.

"Oh, come on," grinned Lisa, "You know you wouldn't pass up a chance to see KC again."

"Besides Carole specifically said to invite you." Said Stevie

They walked up to the door and Michael knocked. A few seconds later Carole opened the door and let them in.

"Hi, come on in, guys," she smiled, "We're just about to start."

Just as they got inside, KC came down the stairs with her dog princess right beside her.

She was halfway down the stairs when she saw Michael who was in the middle of the foyer taking his jacket off.

Her eyes went wide. She hurried down the stars and up to Carole.

"Carole, why didn't you tell me you invited Michael?!" she hissed fussing with her hair.

"Oh, didn't I tell you?" said Carole acting innocent yet smirking, "Hmm, must have slipped my mind."

"Uh Huh," said KC sounding anything but convinced. She looked around to see that Princess had already made friends with Michael and he was scratching her head.

KC went up to Michael.

"Hi," she said a little nervously

"Hi," said Michael, "This is quite the little companion you have here."

Michael scratched Princess's head one more time.

"Yeah," smiled KC, "I got her as a birthday present, I wanted a house pet and horses don't really fit that description."

The group started up the stairs to the Lenoir-Hanson's home theater. It was their own personal movie theater. KC, Carole and the rest of the Saddle Club had designed it. There were more than enough recliners for them all to have one. They were set in a sloped platform in front of a huge screen.

"We're watching Robin Hood tonight." Said Carole.

Before they even got to the door they could smell hot popcorn. Carole opened the door and they walked inside.

"Feel free to help yourself to the popcorn cart and the soda fridge," she said with a smile, "Ahead of Stevie "The Bottomless pit" Lake I'd advise."

"Very funny," retorted Stevie

Carole noticed KC didn't answer. Usually, she joined in on good natured teasing.

Lisa and Carole noticed she was scowling at something.

They all turned to see what was wrong.

They had been so busy talking among themselves they hadn't noticed that there was someone else there. A guy about their own age with dirty blonde hair was sitting with his leg draped over the arm of one of the chairs.

"Trevor Fulton?!" snapped KC angrily, at the boy, "What are you doing here?!"

"Your Stepdad invited me over for movie night," said the boy with a slightly arrogant tone, "He thought it might be a good way for us to iron out our little disagreement."

Instead of answering, KC just turned and stormed out the door. She marched down stairs to find her mother.

Renee was in the kitchen making donuts when KC finally found her.

"Mom," she said, "Why did my stepdad invite Trevor here?!"

"Trevor," said Renee, "Trevor Fulton your ex?"

"Yep, that's who I'm talking about." Nodded KC, "He's upstairs in the theater."

Renee thought for a moment.

"I don't think he knows why you dumped Trevor in the first place." She said.

"Mom," said KC, "Trevor is also the son of Mitchell's commanding officer, so it could be that he thinks that if he can get us back together, he'll score points with his boss."

"No," said Carole, who had come into the kitchen along with Stevie and Lisa, "My Dad would never use one of us like that. If he knew why you dumped Trevor, he wouldn't even let him on our street again."

"I'm sorry, you're right Carole," said KC, "Mitchell, doesn't know because, lately, he hasn't been home long enough for me to tell him."

"You girls go on back up to the theater and start the movie," said Renee handing them a plate of fresh donuts, "Mitchell will be home in a few minutes. I will have a word with him about this, and I will make sure he knows why KC dumped Trevor."

Renee turned back to the fryer on the stove and began to cook up the rest of the doughnuts. She was just taking the last of them out of the fryer when she heard Col Hanson come through the door.

"I'm home," he called out.

"In the kitchen," Renee called back

She heard his footsteps approaching.

"Hello, my dear," he greeted her warmly he leaned in to kiss her cheek, "But she held up a hand to stop him."

"Mitchell," she said, "We need to talk."

"Uh Oh," said Mitchell half-jokingly as he hooked a donut off the draining rack, "That sounds ominous."

"Mitchell," said Renee glaring, "This is serious."

Col. Hanson got the message, put down the doughnut, and focused.

"Mitchell," said Renee, "KC's ex-beau is here.

"Why didn't you tell me!?" exclaimed Col. Hanson

"I'm telling you now," said Renee folding her arms across her chest, "and I'm telling you that you shouldn't have invited him even if he is your C.O.'s son."

"My inviting him has nothing to do with that," said Col. Hanson, "I just knew that she really liked him. She was really upset when they broke up, so I spoke with Trevor when he came by his father's office, and he seemed very interested in getting back together."

Renee frowned and shook her head.

"You should have talked with K.C. first," said Renee, "Because, if you had, she would have told you that she dumped him because he was cheating on her. He had no less than two other girlfriends!"

"What?!" snapped Col. Hanson

Renee nodded.

"And wait till I tell you who those other girls were!" she said

Meanwhile…upstairs in the home theater.

K.C. wasn't getting to watch much of the movie. Trevor kept trying to sit next to her. She kept moving and he kept following her. Their constant moving around was getting on the nerves of Michael as well as Lisa, Carole and Stevie. Finally, K.C. ended up in the empty recliner next to Michael. Trevor tried to move to the chair next to her as usual and went to sit down without even noticing that the chair was occupied by Michael.

In a lightning fast move with his bionic arm, Michael caught Trevor's belt and sent him flying end over end over the front two rows of seats to land flat on his back with a resounding thump on the floor next to the door. This caused a chorus of muffled snickers.

"Sit down and stay there," growled Michael warningly

Before Trevor could drag himself into the nearest empty recliner, the door opened and the light came on revealing an angry Col. Hanson with Renee at his heels. He grabbed Trevor by the scruff of the neck and hauled him to his feet.

"I know what you did to K.C., Trevor." He growled, "So you have a choice, you can either leave now or I can throw you out!"

Trevor looked smug.

"My father might not like his son being treated like that, Col." He said with a smirk

Col. Hanson didn't even blink.

"Your father might not like the fact that you were secretly dating three of his senior staff officers' daughters at the same time either!" replied Col.

The smirked left Trevor's face.

"He's right Trevor," said K.C., "You're not holding all the aces here, you're holding the bag!"

Trevor left immediately without saying another word.

"Sorry to interrupt your movie," Col Hanson apologized to the girls and Michael

When turned to go, Renee blocked his way.

"Not so fast, you have one more apology to make." She said.
