Chapter 3: Evacuating From The Fire
Linda are still tied to a tree.
"Your left!"
"Your right!"
"My left?"
"Left or right?"
"Your right leg, my left leg."
"Okay. Good! Good! Good!"
"Now, go up. Go up. Reach! Almost there!" Tulio kept on encouraging Linda before it was hopeless for the two of them as they both stopped.
"Linda... I'm so sorry. As bad as this is... There is no place I would rather be in the whole world than with you. Even if it is tied to a tree." Tulio apologized before hearing a voice come out the trees like a macaw.
"Linda!" Blu called out once more.
"Blu! Blu!" Linda called out as Blu came into the clearing where both her and Tulio saw him coming around.
"Linda?" he called out as he could hear them closer.
"Down here!" Linda answered as Blu came to them as he started to free them from the grasp of the rope around them.
"What? Blu! What are you doing here? This is dangerous!" She was surprised to see him alongside Tulio who was astonished more than she was.
"That's incredible! It's a 2,000-mile flight!" Tulio responded as Blu finally got the rope off the two humans he could trust in.
"Let's follow him!" exclaimed Tulio,
"It's amazing! I told you I heard him." Linda assured Tulio knowing she wasn't wrong.
It was then they saw the smoke ahead and it was closing in at a rapid pace.
"The Amazon's is on fire! The animals! the blue macaws! We have to report back to camp to alert the authorities, take what we can from the camp and out of the way." Linda toldTulio and both Blu took the lead back to the camp as Tulio brought out a satellite phone with typing in the numbers and then started to speak on the phone.
"Manaus Police please this is Tulio and Linda of the Blue Bird Sanctuary in Rio, we need immediate relief in the Amazon rainforest. There has been a fire outbreak in the area." Linda said.
It was then Blu then took off as Linda saw him leave.
"Blu wait!"
Back at the Spix tribe, there was nothing but misery for the Spix's having to deal without the Brazil nuts that was taken from them. Some went about their lives as usual as some tried to ease the tensions of their main food source taken from them.
"Eddie what will we do without the Brazil nut groves we had to ourselves?" Mimi asked.
"That pet cost us everything! I have done everything to make him adjust to the tribe and yet he still has all that human stuff! He's better off not being with my daughter Jewel! I knew he was the wrong mate for Jewel." Eduardo said.
Immediately, Jewel overheard the conversation as she flew down fuming at her own father.
"That's what you think of him as? How could you?" Jewel asked.
"Jewel you're better off being with Roberto than him, He's a disgrace to the tribe." Eduardo tried to comfort her however she cut him off.
"A disgrace!? He saved my life in the first place from that evil cockatoo and when I fell off the plane, he saved me before I found you! If it wasn't for him, I would've never been here! You should've given him a chance instead of driving him away and I was too hard on him in all being like us wild birds." Jewel said.
"What do you see in him?" Eduardo asked Jewel.
"He is my husband. He does everything for me and the children as a husband and father." Jewel said.
Suddenly two macaws came by as both Eduardo, Mimi, and Jewel saw Roberto carried by them as he shouted out "Game over! It's over! Humans! The lights! It's over!" as he was then let down, still panicking.
"He's been blabbering like this since we found him." Valentino said.
"The fire is coming! It's happening all over again! Humans are coming! and Blu is with them!" Roberto said.
The comment made Eduardo enraged as he shouted, "Traitor!"
"No! No Blu is trying to help us, we have to listen to him!" Roberto regretted saying his words to make Blu bad in front of Eduardo.
"What? By himself?" Jewel remarked astonished he knew somehow about the fire.
Eduardo scoffed at Roberto as he then turned to the other Spix's ordering to evacuate. As he caught wind of the fire coming right at them.
"Let's evacuate! We're leaving. Let's go. Everyone move out. Go, go, go!" He ordered as many Spixes left their homes and let themselves go low into the jungle to avoid being detected.
"Dad? No, not this time. I'm not going with you." Jewel spoke to her father.
"You have to go with me! I will not put my family in danger again. Not like how your mother went" Eduardo ordered Jewel as she stood up in defiance.
"Blu is my family, and I'm not leaving him behind." she retorted as Eduardo shot back at her.
"Jewel please he's possibly long gone by now, He isn't coming back! He's abandoned us to this! Blu is a villain." Eduardo said.
Both birds looked at one another as Eduardo gave the order to Mimi and alongside his grandkids to get Jewel. She left giving a glance to him and left as the kids and Mimi departed as he stayed behind easing down to then tend to his tribe to leave the sanctuary he believed and now dashed again it was home.
The Spix's tribe traversed through the lowlands of the Amazon as Mimi took the lead alongside the sentries leading the flock from winding place to place away from the fire starting to surround them. The fire is very seriously.
"We're surrounded on all sides, it's moving so fast on all of us." Eduardo said.
"Which should be the easy way out?" Jewel questioned.
"I guess we have to find a new home." Mimi said.
"The narrowest path will have to be northwards past one of the rivers we can cross to get to the other side." Eduardo said.
"We'll do that then." Mimi said.
Mimi then gave the order to head to the north as then a shift of blue headed past groves of trees already set a flame as then one of them came into the path of Jewel and the kids who flew away at the sight of the tree coming at them as smoke blurred the path. Jewel was then struck by a stray branch that sent her to the ground as she then looked at the fire around her. The grim view had reminded her when she was lost all those years ago without the safety of her parents and her tribe for almost a moment, she feared it was happening all over again and without Blu she was empty inside and blaming herself that it was her fault she drove him away alongside her father. She had to stop being like him and accept that humans like Linda and Tulio were able to help their kind if only he could just let go of his hatred...
It was then she heard a familiar voice.
"Jewel!"
It couldn't be? She drove him off, he would've never come back from what he said about the mosquitoes and being eaten alive by predators.
"Jewel!"
Then she could hear her children yelling out "Mom!"
She looked up to see they were ahead, an assurance the kids were safe with Blu as she frantically looked around. It truly was him.
"Blu!" she yelled out at last as he approached over with the kids as concern was all over his face looking upon Jewel.
She wanted to cry at the sight of him coming back for her and the family.
"Blu, you scared us. Where were you?" Jewel asked her mate.
"Jewel, we need to get you somewhere safe. Are you alright?" Blu asked.
"Yeah... Jewel replied.
Jewel then stood up as she flapped her wings and then was back in the air with the kids and Blu as they started traversing through the fire.
"Mimi said to us to head north there's a river ahead." Jewel told Blu.
"On it, Blue birds of a feather stay together." Blu said.
Then they dodged through the fire together as flames and smoke surrounded them all. They started to cough as they dodged trees falling and branches with ashes filling the air. For a moment they believed they were all going down altogether as then there was a clearing ahead where the river was to the north. Relief washed over the family as they reached across the river where many of the Amazon inhabitants had taken refuge in when finally, they reached the tribe as Mimi came over astonished Jewel and others had made it.
"I was about to send sentries to find you when I noticed you were gone!" Blu said.
Jewel caught her breath as she turned to Blu smiling.
"He came back for us." Mimi said.
Mimi looked at Blu as she gave him a hug as he reluctantly accepted. He never held any resentment to her, He felt honestly more welcome under Mimi than Eduardo had done.
"I saw the fire and then I came back to rescuemy family." Blu said.
"That was smart of you." Jewel said.
"Where is Eduardo?" Blu asked
"He's back getting the tribe and the others out of the fire I'm sure he'll be here soon." Mimi said.
Blu came back to help his family. Let's hope he have a plan to save the Amazon from the fire.
