The Thousand Sunny lazily sailed on the gentle waves, lion-headed prow cutting through the blue-green water and tossing up intermittent sprays of salty droplets. Above, the sky, brilliant blue with nary a cloud in sight, stretched far and wide, melting into the distant horizon. A cool breeze carried the exhilarating sting of salt and something else equally enticing- freshly baked bread, seasoned meats, and the warm spice from the delicious foods Sanji was currently crafting in the Sunny's galley.
The ship rocked in soothing patterns, a steady and familiar rhythm, the crew scattered across the decks in various states of leisure. It was too perfect of a day not to take advantage of and spend time being idle.
Luffy stood on the swing under one of the trees of the main deck, a wide grin on his face as he rocked back and forth. "I had a crazy dream last night!" He exclaimed.
From her spot on the grass under the shade of the tree, Nami glanced up from her mapwork, raising an uninterested brow. "Let me guess- meat?"
"No!" Luffy laughed, jumping off the swing to spin around and throw his arms in the air, "The All Blue!"
Zoro, arms behind his head and begrudgingly sharing the shade with the witch, cracked his eye open with a scoff. "That's the cook's dream, idiot."
"Shishishishi, I know that!" Luffy fell back onto the grass, staring up at the sky, "But, it was so blue!"
Nami tilted her head. "It sounds nice⦠But, it's just water, so of course it's blue."
"No, no!" Luffy insisted, his grin never wavering and a strange glint in his eyes, "It wasn't just any blue- it was blue blue! Like, um, like Sanji's eyes!
Nami blinked in surprise at the almost reverent tone under the excitement in Luffy's voice. Zoro narrowed his good eye.
"How do you know both his eyes are blue?" Zoro challenged, more out of annoyance for the cook than anything else.
"Zoro, you idiot!" Nami screeched at him, "We've seen both of Sanji's eyes!"
Almost as if summoned by the conversation, the galley door above swung open and Sanji stepped out, one arm lined with plates and a tray full of snacks for the crew, and a cigarette in his free hand. The cook looked effortlessly suave, dressed in his usual black slacks and rolled sleeves, his blond hair falling neatly across the right side of his face.
"Snack break!" He announced as he descended the stairs.
Before Sanji could open his mouth to swoon over Nami, Luffy leapt from his sprawl in the grass like a spring released. "I'll check!" Luffy declared happily in answer to Zoro's question.
"Check wha-?" Sanji barely got the word out before Luffy landed right in front of him. Almost nose to nose, Luffy swept the blond's bangs back with one hand without hesitation.
Sanji froze entirely. Both of his eyes, wide and startled, were suddenly visible- stunningly clear blue like ocean shallows reflecting the sky and catching the sun in dazzlingly shimmers. Luffy leaned in further with the delight of a child who had found a hidden treasure. The teen's dark eyes were so intense and full of mirth, it sent Sanji's head swimming.
"Yup!" Luffy laughed, "Just as blue and beautiful!"
Then with a cackle, Luffy snagged half the plates of snacks and carelessly bounded away.
Sanji remained rooted there, bangs still lifted awkwardly by the breeze, face slowly turning a shade of red that rivaled the tomatoes in the galley. His mouth worked uselessly for a moment before he gave up, snapping it closed. His back was ramrod straight as he quickly served Nami her drink with a very muted "Nami-swan" and all but fled back to the safety of his kitchen, utterly flustered.
Zoro scoffed, muttering under his breath. "My eye is beautiful too."
Nami burst into laughter, her cackling drowning out the swordsman's vehement insults.
A/N: The original concept for this blurb was intended to be a comic strip, but unfortunately, I just don't have the free time for that at the moment.
Anyway, I'm not actually caught up on OP, so apologies if I got something wrong:}
Thanks for reading!:)
