Chapter 11: Battle Of Sokovia Part Two

Ultron crashes through a vehicle and grabs a hold of the God of thunders neck. "Oh Thor! You're bothering me."

As Barton is still fighting off the drones, Wanda has gathered the courage to come out of the building. Her eyes and hands surging with crimson energy.

Barry's pep talk had worked.

The newbie heroine threw her hands out, crushing every drone nearby into tiny slivers of metal.

Clint was amazed and blinked a few times before talking into his comms. "Alright, we're all clear here."

"We are not clear! We are very not clear!" Came the tired and anxious voice of Steve Rogers, causing the archer to sigh. "Alright, coming to you."

Just then Pietro speeds in, picks up Wanda and leaves the Avenger behind. "Keep up old man!"

Barton aims an arrow at where Pietro just was. "Nobody would know. Nobody." He then grumbles before beginning the short jog towards the bridge. "Cocky little B-"

"Pietro, what are you doing!? You're supposed to be helping Barry!" Wanda chastised her twin after he had put her down.

"He said he'd be fine while I transported you to where cap was." Her brother replied, having dropped his sister in front of some surprised soldiers before running back off to find the two battling speedsters.

Wanda rolls her eyes before blasting a bunch of drones that had just appeared from the sky.

To her right, Steve Rogers slams another drone into the ground, not noticing another sneak behind him-

Only for it to be shot in the head by a certain assassin. "Nat! thanks. Good to see you."

The black widow gave the super soldier a saucy smirk. "You too handsome."

"Excuse me, less flirting, more fighting!" Wanda yelled from their left as she was rushed by a horde of more Ultron drones.

The two blushed slightly but composed themselves and went right back to work.

While tony had been holding off the drones from entering the church, Friday had been scanning the entire structure. "The anti-gravs are rigged to flip. Touch 'em, they'll go full reverse thrust. The city's not coming down slow."

Stark's mind raced for a solution, but he was coming up empty while he focused on battling his creation's army.

Thankfully, he had a whole team of geniuses on the line to assist. Who are they you ask? The Star Labs team.

"It's Vibranium. If we get Thor to hit it..." Cisco trailed off.

"It'll crack, but that's not enough, the impact would still be devastating." Caitlin reminded him, doing some calculations on her tablet.

"What if we cap the other end, keep the atomic action doubling back?" Cisco then suggested, running over to write down some numbers on a whiteboard.

Wells shook his head. "That could vaporize the city, and everyone in it."

Steve rolled away from another energy bolt, eyes narrowing as he saw more swarms of drones break out of the ground and fly up into the sky, waiting in formation. "The next wave's going to hit any minute. What have you got, Stark?" he asked over the comms.

Tony sighed. "Well, nothing great. Maybe a way to blow up the city. That'll keep it from impacting the surface if you guys can get clear."

Steve shook his head. "I asked for a solution, not an escape plan."

"Impact radius is getting bigger every second Cap. We're going to have to make a choice." Tony replied with a sigh.

Natasha bit her lip and turned to Steve. "Steve, these people are going nowhere. If Stark finds a way to blow this rock..." she trailed off.

The man narrowed his eyes. "Not 'til everyone's safe." He denied, shaking his head again.

Widow frowned. "Everyone up here versus everyone down there? There's no math there." She protested.

Steve tightened the strap on his shield. "I'm not leaving this rock until everyone is safely away."

Natasha rolled her eyes. "I didn't say we should leave."

Steve turns to look at her at that, was she seriously-

"There's worse ways to go. Where else am I going to get a view like this?" The Widow replied, unable to look into his eyes as she instead turned to look at the clouds to ther side.

A familiar voice came over the team's comms at that. "Glad you like the view, Romanoff. It's about to get better."

From the side of the horizon rose the infamous shield Helicarrier. It was a tad bit rusty and could use some new paint and a bit of maintenance, but it was a welcome sight nonetheless.

Backup had arrived.

"Nice, right? I pulled her out of mothballs with a couple of old friends. She's dusty, but she'll do." Nick Fury smirked.

Steve shook his head with a small smile. "Fury, you son of a bitch." He exclaimed.

Nick's smirk turned into a full out grin. "Ooh! You kiss your mother with that mouth?" he joked in reply.

Wanda walked over to see makeshift hover lifeboats come over from the ship, making her eyes widen. "This is shield?"

Steve nodded. "This is what SHIELD's supposed to be." He replied.

Wanda hummed. "This is not so bad." She muttered before walking off to check on the hiding civilians.

(Back on the Helicarrier)

Maria Hill frowned after seeing something on her console. "Sir, we have multiple bogies converging on our starboard flank."

Nick nodded. "Show 'em what we got."

Maria nodded and tapped her earpiece. "You're up."

Colonel James Rhodes jumped out of the hangar bay in his suit and fired up his shoulder mounted gatling gun, shredding several dozen drones.

James grinned. "Yes! Now this is going to be a good story."

His best friend flew in next to him, taking out a drone that had flown into his blind spot.

"Yep. If you live to tell it." Tony drawled out.

James rolled his eyes. "You think I can't hold my own?"

Unable to help himself, Tony smirked. "We get through this, I'll hold your own."

James groaned. "You had to make it weird."

(Back on the Helicarrier)

Maria Hill's eyes widened as she spotted something outside of the view screen from the corner of her eye. "Incoming, everyone down!"

A single Ultron Drone crashed through the Helicarrier window, not slowing down before colliding into the ground. It then cut off its disabled legs before crawling forward to attack a nearby technician.

Said technician began to scream. "Oh, God!"

The drone stops for a moment, shifting its undamaged arm into a rifle to kill the young man-

Only for Agent Hill to shoot it and Fury to stab it with a piece of metal, destroying it.

The technician let out a breath of relief. "Thank you."

Ultron slammed Thor against the side of the church before repeatedly punching him in the face. "You think you're saving anyone? I turn that key and drop this rock a little early and it's still billions dead. Even you can't stop that." He sneer3d.

The God of thunder glared up at the villain. "I am Thor, son of Odin, and as long as there is life in my breast, I am...running out of things to say! Are you ready?" He smirks, looking over Ultron's shoulder.

The AI turned around, only to be struck in the face but a metallic hammer, sending him flying across the room.

Vision tossed Mjolnir to Thor. Haven picked it up to use after noticing the man dropping it in his fight with ultron. "It's terribly well balanced." He complimented.

Thor nodded. "Well, if there's too much weight, you lose power on the swing, so." He shrugged.

Iron man flew overhead, being chased by multiple drones as he tried to get Ultron's focus off of the lifeboats and the Helicarrier. "I got it! Create a heat seal. I can...I can supercharge the spire from below." He realised.

"Cisco and Wells are running the numbers." Caitlin stated.

"No need, I've calculated it. It could work." Friday interrupted.

Tony flew his way back over to Thor and Vision. "Guys, I got a plan!"

The God of thunder shook his head. "We're out of time. The waves are coming for the core."

Tony cursed before landing next to him. "Rhodey, get the rest of the people on board that carrier."

"On it."

"Thanks, Okay Avengers time to work for a living."

"Pietro and Barry can't help, Reverse Flash is proving too much of a problem." Supergirl replied over the comms.

"Then we'll have to cope without them. Meet us at the church."

Now that (nearly) everyone was together, Tony points to the Vibranium device in the middle of the church.

"This is the drill. If Ultron gets a hand on the core, we lose. So don't let him get close."

Ultron shows up, Haven flown over from where he had been hit by Thor's hammer.

Thor clenches his hand around his weapon. "Is that the best you can do!?" he yelled, his anger getting the best of him.

The AI smirks and raises a hand, sending a signal for ALL of his remaining drones to converge on his position.

There were thousands...

Steve groaned, turning to look at his friend. "You had to ask."

Ultron chuckled. "This is the best I can do. This is exactly what I wanted. All of you, against all of me. How could you possibly hope to stop me?"

Tony Turned to look at Steve. "Well, like the old man said. Together."

All of the avengers (save for Peitro and Barry) all collectively fight off Ultron's robots with their own respective abilities. Ultron and Vision start battling it out. After destroying their groups of drones, Thor and Stark join him, combining their beams of energy to create a super laser.

The combined power is enough to damage Ultron's Vibranium body, melting and even breaking pieces off of it.

They pause for a moment as Iron man doesn't want to overload his armour.

"You're out of time..." Ultron smiled, blasting off towards the city edge.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

"They are trying to leave the city!" Thor pointed out.

"We cant let them, if even one drone survives then we're back to square one." Doctor Wells says over the comms.

"Go, I'll stay with the core. It's my job, you destroy ultron, I got this." Wanda assured them.

~ - ~ - ~ - ~ - ~

Clint, Natasha and Steve bring out more people to the lifeboats, focusing on saving the civilians while their teammates deal with the drones. (They can't fly anyway)

A young woman calls out the name of a boy, clearly not knowing where he was. "Costal? We were in the market. Costal?!" she cries out.

Barton nods at Natasha before running off to find the boy, nobody gets left behind after all.

As Clint finally finds the boy, Ultron flies in with the Quinjet and starts shooting at them. " I got no strings, so I have fun. I'm not tied up to anyone." The mad AI sings while smiling with glee.

Barton grabs the boy and turns around, his back facing the incoming projectiles, he is preparing to take the shots and save the kid.

Instead, there is a blast of air and Ultron flies overhead.

Confused, Clint turns around to see Pietro standing there, haven used all his strength and speed to put a car in the way, saving the archer and the boy.

He had tried to help Barry, but the reverse flash and other speedster were battling at such high velocities that he couldn't keep up.

And so, seeing the Quinjet in the distance turn to aim at Hawkeye, he ran over to help.

Unfortunately, whilst he was fast. He wasn't fast enough to get out of harms way himself... and thus was riddled with bullets.

"Bet You didn't see that coming." Pietro says with a small smile, giving one last breath before falling to the ground, dead.

Sensing this from inside the church, Wanda falls in despair, and release a wave of energy that destroys all the robots around her.

Barry was held against a wall in the middle of the city, his face and body beaten.

"And now I have you right where I want you, on your knees, helpless, not able to do anything. Finally, I have brought you down Barry Allen. I broke the Flash, not Eobard Thawne, Not Hunter Zolomon, ME!" Daniel yelled, eyes wide with a crazed look as he grinned.

Barry spat out some blood and looked around, ignoring his gloating enemy.

Wanda was cradling her dead brother, a red shield around them as drones tried to break through and kill her.

Clint was covering a group of children with his body as small explosions went off near him, drones getting closer and closer.

Steve was backhanding a drone away from a family who was trapped in a car. But with each one he destroyed, another took its place.

Daniel punched Barry in the face and shoved him further into the wall. "DONT YOU IGNORE ME!" He screamed down his ear.

Barry groaned. He was tired, hungry, low on energy and hurt. His whole body hurt.

He was so tired...

Seeing that he wasn't getting anything out of his enemy, Daniel frowned, his sick mind racing for something that would get a reaction out of the Flash.

"You know what, maybe once I've ripped your heart out I'll kill the rest of the avengers quickly, but not Supergirl. No, I'll hang her pretty head from the top of the empire state building like a trophy. Hello world, I destroyed the Flash and his little girlfriend too." Daniel laughed, enjoying the sick idea.

Time slowed down, and the Flash slowly raised his head to look up at the evil speedster.

Daniel saw only pure, unrelenting fury.

Barry's eyes glowed with whitish blue lightning, surprising Daniel.

Vibrating at intensive speeds Barry broke out of the speedster dampening cuffs the reverse flash had managed to get on him, and snapped his right leg back into place, he then healed it in microseconds, not noticing the white lightning spark across the limb as he did so.

But Daniel did, and his eyes widened in fear, if only for a moment. 'Only one speedster ever produced white lightning.'

Barry didn't see the fear, only the man who just threatened his family.

With a speed unlike anything seen before, The flash struck him in the face multiple times before taking him by the neck and dragging him across the ground, smashing his head into debris that was all around them and even a few dozen ultron drones before pushing him up against the same wall he was just against.

"You can hurt me, threaten me and my life. But the second you go after my friends, my family, the people I love, Then you cross the line!" He growled, his eyes still white.

Even while scared Daniel had to have the last word, he was after all, the reverse flash. What he saw had to be a fluke, it just had to be. Only one speedster had white lightning. And it wasn't (couldn't be) Barry.

"You're not a killer Barry, you're the hero." Daniel muttered.

The flash glared. "I'm not the Barry Allen you know, and if you'd done some research you'd know I've killed hundreds of soldiers during an alien invasion. I killed Zoom, he gave me no other choice. You've caused so much damage, enough is enough, it's time to end this!"

In a split second, Barry held the reverse flash's heart in his hand. Still beating.

Daniel felt nothing, just an immense pain as he body slowed down. 'I failed, I'm sorry Iris, I failed.' He thought before falling to the floor, dead.

Barry dropped the heart onto the floor. His face was dark and sad. "I'm not a hero, I'm an Avenger." He whispered, racing off to help his team.
