Chapter Four: Decisions

Before I could ask anything further, someone knocked at the door before walking in. The person was holding some reports in their hand not glancing up at us before they sighed out and closed their folder and started talking about how much damage was done by the attack on wall Maria.

"We might have to take reinforcements for a clean up. Until than I need to check on something-" The person looks up finally before completely freezing up. Only for a quick moment before his face turns into a scowl. Who is this?

"Ah, Captain Levi! We've been waiting for your arrival." Erwin spoke as he grinned at the sight of who seems to be my so called 'uncle'. Funny. I remember him being a giant when I was younger.

"What is she doing here?" Levi spoke as if he was disgusted with the mere sight of me. Ouch. That's hurts…

I quickly hold the file to my chest before resisting the urge to go off on this man for acting this way after not seeing his only niece after years of no contact. He didn't even attend my parents memorial service.

"Well she had some altercation with some officers. She punched one in the face and told him off." Erwin patted Levi's shoulder. "She is Rene's daughter. And of course she resembles you too." Erwin laughed but neither of us found it funny. I know he did not just compare me to this man who isn't even considered family in my book.

"She was the one who assaulted Kevin? Hm, not bad. I guess…" Levi mumbled the last part but I heard him. I scoffed and shook my head.

"So am I being charged for assault? Or can I go back to to my friends?" I say hoping I could leave and just forget about this whole encounter. Well besides that my mother left some letters for me and photos of her and dad.

"Don't worry. You are cleared of the charges. I'm sure that he deserved it. But I wanted to talk more about what's next for you." Erwin waved his hand to the couch for me to sit in which I do, but hesitantly. Levi looks at Captain Erwin questioning his motives.

I try not to stare at the man who does remind me of my mother…

"So, given that your home isn't safe nor in the conditions for you to live in, I have made arrangements for a home in wall Rose for you. Its paid for and well stocked with everything you could possibly need." Erwin spoke. Levi looked over kind of confused in which I do too.

"What do you mean? I thought her house was no where near the attack?" Levi said crossing his leg over his other.

"I was there front and center when the attack happened. So were my friends. My house literally had a giant hole and was caved in from a titan." I spoke matter of factly to Levi.

Of course he wouldn't know about what happened to me or the damage of the attack had happened too. He didn't care to check himself if I even made out alive. Or try to contact me to just make sure I was safe and okay! Why did mom send me to look for him when he couldn't care less about you my existence?

Levi stayed quiet as he seemed to dislike how I glared at him.

"I see how much you care for me, my sweet uncle." I say sarcastically as roll my eyes.

Levi gives a simple 'tch' as response before Erwin speaks up again.

"All is prepared for you, but I wanted to just check if you had something else in mind. I have feeling that you would want something more than just a new home."

Levi stood up as and stared at Captain Erwrin seemingly unaware that I was in fact wanting something more than to just hide and blind myself from the fact that this world is not sunshine and roses. After everything I've been through and what my friends had to go through, I want to do more for myself and my friends. I don't want something like this to ever happen again.

I may not know the first thing about titans or how to even kill one. But I will not stand by on the sidelines while there could have been something I could do. I don't want to be useless and freeze up like a coward like I did that day. I don't want to hide behind the wall and be sheltered from the real world.

"I want to become a scout!"
