Entering the neurology department, Jeff made a beeline for the office at the far end of the corridor. It belonged to Sarah Moulson, the head of department and most expert mind healer he had ever met. He knocked on the door, hoping she was available.

"Come in."

Jeff opened the door and closed it gently behind him, waiting patiently until she had finished her writing and looked up at him.

"Healer McLaren, what can I do for you?"

"I was hoping to consult you on a delicate case, Sarah. Would you have ten minutes to spare me?"

"Sure, come on, sit down."

Jeff took the offered chair, but then fidgeted. He didn't really know how to start this.

"Alright I'll bite. Something has got you really worked up Jeff. What is it?"

"What's the best faked memory you've ever seen?" he asked eventually.

"All mind creations have their tells if you know what to look for. Some people are better than others at them, but you can always tell. Why do you ask? You said you wanted my advice on a case, can you be more specific?"

"What should a dream look like when viewed through Legilimency? How would it differ to an actual memory?" He wasn't sure that it was Legilimency that Harry had used, but it seemed to be the closest option.

"In a memory everything is in sharp focus, even when you look around and behind you. A dream tends towards having one central area of activity and everything else is insignificant. I'm sure you know this already Jeff, you've handled mental trauma before."

"Can a memory be a memory if you weren't there when it happened?"

"Jeff, I'm getting a bit concerned now. Of course you can't remember something that you didn't experience in the first place. Either spit it out, or it'll be you that's the case I'm working on."

"This goes no further than me and Andrew Cokeworth, understand? You will speak to nobody else about it. I'm not even sure I should be telling you."

"Jeff, if you don't come out with it in the next five seconds you will not like the consequences."

Sarah drew her wand and left it pointedly on her lap.

"Harry dreamt of Voldemort returning from the dead but when I watched it it didn't look or feel like a dream" he blurted. "It felt like a memory. Andrew is convinced his ward has been left with mental trauma and I was starting to agree with him until Harry pulled me into his head and forced me to watch it first hand. Harry is adamant that it was not a dream and that it happened, but he also says that he never left Gryffindor Tower the night he claims to have seen it."

"He pulled you into his mind? And then sent you out again?" Sarah sat back in shock. "Does he know how dangerous that was for both of you?"

Jeff waved a hand. "He does things like that, you learn to roll with it. But back to the point. If it's not possible to create a perfect fake, then we need to find the the errors in this one, which is beyond my ability. Will you have a look? I can create a copy of my viewing it if you'd like."

"Definitely. Include the before and after as well if you will. I want to see if there were any after effects to either of you."

Jeff did so, then rose and turned to leave.

"Where do you think you're going?" Sarah asked.

"I have other duties to attend to, as I am sure do you. I have no desire to watch that a second time and I really do have others things to do. You can call me when you've had chance to examine it."

"And leave a potential splintering undiagnosed?"

"If you must know Andrew insisted that he check on me before he left with Harry. Something about freezing like a statue. Since he let me go, I must assume he found nothing untoward." Seeing the look he was getting he continued, "if you see anything that concerns you in there, I am sure you will act on it when I return later."

"If I see anything Jeff McLaren you will be back in here so fast you won't know what's hit you."

"Understood."

With that he left.

It was the following day that Jeff returned to the neurology wing, this time with Andrew.

"Good morning gentlemen" Sarah greeted them. "I hear you got first hand experience of watching an unplanned mind traverse Andrew."

"Not something I wish to repeat I can assure you" Andrew replied with a wry smile.

"It seemed to be a perfect action, if an unorthodox method. I would like to run a diagnostic just to make sure though Jeff."

Jeff smirked.

"As you wish. Perhaps lets discuss what you found out first?"

Sarah stared at him and opened her mouth to protest but Jeff interrupted whatever she was about to say.

"Neuro "diagnostics" are never just that are they." He smirked again. "They always go on for much longer than you expect. So I'd rather get the important stuff out of the way first before we get bogged down into all of that and run out of time for anything else."

Seeing that this was the best she was going to get, Sarah sat down and invited them to join her.

"I would like to see Harry as soon as possible" she said. "The content of that dream was shocking enough, but I could find no flaws anywhere to indicate that it was imagined instead of experienced. Since I have only watched Jeff's version of it however, I cannot be certain of that and I would like to verify it from the source. Having watched Harry's unique method of pulling in and pushing out of Jeff's mind,"

Sarah shot a sharp look at Jeff, reminding him that there was still unsettled business there.

"I cannot state that he absolutely would not be able to create a realistic image, but I do question why he would want to. For his subconscious to create it into a dream, he must have been obsessing over it for some time, to create such a realistic dream he must have felt it deep down in his magic, which should have shown in his waking hours. If, as everything seems to suggest, this was a one-off occurrence it makes no sense why he would choose this particular scene to create."

"Are you saying that you believe him?" Andrew asked slowly.

"I am saying that we should not discount the possibility that this was something more than a dream created solely by Harry's subconscious mind. The pieces don't fit. As I said, I would like to see him as soon as possible to confirm several things, not to mention he will also need checking over from that ridiculous mind stunt."

She glared at Jeff again who sighed.

"Very well get it over with then."

It took ten minutes before Sarah announced she was satisfied that everything was as it should be and allowed Jeff to move from his chair.

"I'll drop off Harry's appointment time before the end of the day Andrew. Would you mind doing me one favour before you go? Could I get a copy of your memory of yesterday morning? From whenever you think until you went back home from seeing Jeff."

Andrew grimaced but pulled the requested memory and handed it over.

"Thankyou. Jeff if you start to feel unwell or you get any headaches you will return to me immediately do you understand?"

"No I thought I'd wait until I was a raving lunatic and then come back" Jeff quipped.

"Ah I won't have long to wait then. I'll be in touch."

Andrew thought for the tenth time that afternoon that it would have been easier to stun Harry and levitate him than it would be to walk the boy through the corridors of the hospital. At least it would have been easier on his patience and stress levels, not to mention that he might have actually been able to use a pace faster than that of an arthritic snail.

"Come on Harry we mustn't keep Healer Moulson waiting" he called as he opened the door to the neurology wing.

Once Harry had finally come through, slouching and dragging his feet, Andrew shut the door and warded it. He knew it wouldn't hold Harry if he actually tried, but it might slow him long enough to keep track of him.

"Harry Potter, for an appointment with Healer Moulson" he said to the receptionist.

"Thankyou Healer Cokeworth, Healer Moulson is waiting for you in Room Four."

Andrew nodded and headed down the corridor. Coming to a stop by the correct door he knocked and then opened it.

"In here Harry."

Sarah looked at the boy as he passed sullenly through the doorway. He had all the appearance of a surly teenager being forced into something he didn't want to do. He looked physically healthy but that was to be expected she supposed when your guardian was head of paediatric medicine.

"Good afternoon Harry, how are you today?"

Harry didn't reply.

"Harry you will answer a question that is asked to you" Andrew said sharply.

"I have a right to stay silent" he retorted.

Andrew sighed. This was going to take the rest of his already strained patience.

"How about you sit on the bed Harry?"

"I'm not a bloody baby" Harry muttered, but did as he was told.

"So I don't know how much Andrew has told you about this, but today we're just going to do a few tests to see what's going on inside your head."

"I'm not crazy. He's just overreacting as always."

"I never said you were Harry. But it is worth getting these things checked out, just in case. Will you lie back onto the bed for me?"

"Not like I have much of a choice is it? What are you going to do, strap me down if I don't?"

"Harry…" Andrew said warningly. "Mind your manners."

Harry glared at him.

"So Harry, I just need you to relax as much as you can and look up at the ceiling for me. If you see anything show up there I need you to tell me what you see."

Harry stared up at the white ceiling and wondered what the fuss was all about. But he knew if he didn't do as requested he would never get out of here.

"Red, green, purple stripes, blue dragon, green star, yellow stars, what's the point of all this?"

"Keep going Harry please."

"Hurrrrrrrr. Blue and green trees, Hogwarts, a Quidditch pitch, the Great Hall, the Hogwarts Express, a dog…."

After several minutes during which Harry thought that this should be kept as a new form of torture, the images stopped and Sarah spoke again.

"Well done Harry. It's finished. The point of that, as you so nicely put it, was to keep you occupied whilst the scans ran. You can sit up now if you like."

"That was a diversion?" Harry asked.

"Quite a clever one, don't you agree? Most people coming here are expecting something like that anyway and it makes doing our jobs a lot easier."

Sarah smiled and Andrew had to stifle a snort of amusement.

"If it's so good, why did you tell me about it? Surely you would have wanted to use it again."

"Oh don't worry, I'll find something else for next time. It's never so bad after the first one anyway. Some people even play along and put in requests."

Sarah finished writing up her notes and turned back to the bed.

"Andrew and Jeff have told me of the dream you had and their initial conclusions. Whilst I appreciate their input, they have both agreed that this is not their area of expertise. They have asked me to help you and that is what I intend to do."

Harry nodded, his legs swinging off the side of the bed.

"I'd like to watch your dream in your head. Will you let me see it?"

She caught his gaze and held it, half hoping he would pull her in, half hoping he didn't.

Harry dropped his head.

"I can't" he said to the floor.

"It's ok Harry. All you have to do is look at me. Keep looking at me and I'll do everything else. Can you do that?"

He slowly moved his head up to look at her, fear and pain and pleading on his face.

"Please…."

As they made eye contact Sarah knew what she had to do, even though it broke her heart as she did so.

"Legilimens."

Harry's mindscape was very well built Sarah thought as she looked around. A training room library hybrid. Whoever had taught the boy occlumency was to be congratulated. However she could also feel the tension that her spell had caused and it was increasing every second that she stayed here. Once that tension hit a specific point Sarah knew she would be forced out so she needed to find what she came here to see and leave as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately it seemed that that would not be easy. She had hoped that mentioning the dream beforehand would bring it forwards, but it seemed like Harry was one of the ones who buried things when he didn't want to think about them. This was just Harry's surface level, in anybody with mind shields advanced as these there would be other levels, tucked in or behind or between items on this one. She prayed that what she was looking for was just one level down and not further, she didn't think she would be able to get into deep investigations today.

It took her a while to find the link - she had to hand it to the boy, he had hidden it well in between two of the foam mats that were spread across the floor and walls. There was just a flash of darker shadow in her peripheral vision and she jumped onto it, her experience allowing her to gain access through the minuscule gap.

To her relief it was there, its fuzzy outline showing the cemetery and cauldron as she had seen from the memory Jeff provided. There was something strange about it though. It almost felt familiar, like she should recognise it, but she didn't know why. She couldn't quite describe it, but something was putting her on edge and it wasn't the content inside. Deciding to think on that later, she touched it and was sucked in, but no sooner had she landed when a loud bang sounded and Sarah found herself being flung violently back into herself so hard that her chair hit the opposite wall several feet away.

Harry glared at her as she blinked.

"I said no" he growled.

"Sarah, can you hear me? Are you ok?"

Sarah looked up to see Andrew hovering over her.

"Yes I'm fine, thanks Andrew. It's not the first time I've been thrown out of someone's mind and I doubt it will be the last."

She walked back over to Harry but he refused to look at her and continued to stare at the side wall, head turned away.

"Harry, look at me please."

"No. You're not going back in my head."

Sarah sighed. She should have been expecting that.

"How about you sit with Andrew then?"

Andrew sat down on the bed next to Harry and drew him into a hug. The child clung into him and buried his head into Andrew's shoulder. Andrew drew comforting circles on his back, muttered soothing words into his hair and held him until Harry calmed.

"S-sorry" Harry stuttered eventually, head still buried into his guardian's warm embrace. "I just reacted. Did I hurt her?"

"Harry it's fine" Sarah said. "You weren't the first and you won't be the last. We'll get through this. It's nothing to be ashamed or afraid of and it's a perfectly normal reaction, especially when someone's shields are advanced as yours. Who taught you Occlumency? It's really impressive what you've achieved."

Harry sniffled, but turned his head to look up in Sarah's direction.

"Huh?"

"Your Occlumency. Who taught you to make your mind like it is?"

"It just kinda made sense. The twins told me that if I created a picture in my head to store everything in then lessons would get easier and it would be easier to remember stuff. When I saw how well it worked I just played around until I got it how I wanted. I didn't know it had a name, that's cool."

Harry uncurled himself as he spoke, his interest in a theoretical discussion overcoming his shame and panic.

"Wow. I'm impressed. There's not many people at your age who could boast such skills. Especially with no formal tutoring in it."

Harry flushed red as he ducked his head again.

Sarah smiled at the typical teenager embarrassment. "Well it looks like our time is up for today gentlemen. For the rest of the day Harry you are to do something you enjoy, something fun. Nothing too mentally taxing. Healer's orders."

She winked at him and Harry couldn't stop the grin that broke out. Andrew groaned, he could only imagine what would Harry do when given that instruction.
